The Regia Marina, while impressive on paper, desperately needs modernization, and many of the ships don't even have radar. It consists of around ~50,000 naval personnel. The Regia Aeronautica, or the Royal Air Force, currently consists of roughly 1,000 operational aircraft and ~20,000 personnel.
Economic Strength: The economy of Italy has been effectively ruined as a result of World War II and Mussolini's various exploits and adventures. Although Italy has a rather weak and fragile economy, aid, especially through some sort of plan (hint hint), could stimulate the economy and allow it to recover rapidly from the war.
Infrastructure: Much of Italy's infrastructure have been damaged and destroyed as a result of the war, and only now has reconstruction begun. Only railways between major cities have been repaired, and roads in Italy have usually suffered some extent of damage or is in some state of disrepair.
Scientific Research and Development: The Science R&D of Italy lags behind significantly from the other nations, primarily as a result of the war and the devastation it brought to Italy. However, leading Italian physicists like Enrico Fermi have contributed to the making of the atomic bomb, and there are some advances in science and technology in Italy.

It's certainly possible. So three-way Cold War? The fascists will be at a huge disadvantage though, and the weakest out of the 3 blocs.

And how did Australia rapidly incorporate that many people into a territory that has difficulties sustaining its current population with modern tech? Where does its wealth come from?
