History: The Yamato dynasty is the oldest continuous hereditary monarchy in the world. The imperial House recognizes 125 monarchs beginning with the legendary Emperor Jimmu (traditionally dated to February 11, 660 BC) and continuing up to the current emperor, Komei. For the duration of the Edo period, the Tokugawa Shogunate effectively ruled Japan while the Imperial House maintained an almost ceremonial role in government. But in 1837, Tokugawa Ieyoshi put his prerogatives at the Emperor's disposal and resigned. This was effectively the "restoration" (Taisei Hokan) of imperial rule – although Ieyoshi still had significant influence and it was not until the following year, with Emperor Ninko's edict, that the restoration fully occurred.

Shortly thereafter in January 1838, the Boshin War (War of the Year of the Dragon) started with the Battle of Toba-Fushimi in which Choshu and Satsuma's forces defeated the ex-shogun's army. This forced (or allowed) the Emperor to strip Ieyoshi of all power, setting the stage for official restoration. Emperor Ninko made a formal declaration of the restoration of his power:

"The Emperor of Japan announces to the sovereigns of all foreign countries and to their subjects that permission has been granted to the Shogun Tokugawa Yoshinobu to return the governing power in accordance with his own request. We shall henceforward exercise supreme authority in all the internal and external affairs of the country. Consequently the title of Emperor must be substituted for that of Taikun, in which the treaties have been made. Officers are being appointed by us to the conduct of foreign affairs. It is desirable that the representatives of the treaty powers recognize this announcement."

There were many causes to the Ninko Restoration. The Japanese knew that they could compete with the European world when representatives from western nations came to Japan in large warships with armament and technology very similar to those of Japan. The leaders of the Ninko Restoration, as this revolution came to be known, acted in the name of restoring imperial rule to strengthen Japan to take advantage of the opportunity represented by the colonial powers of the day, bringing to an end the era known as Sakoku.

Now, Ninko's son Komei continues his father's work, modernizing and militarizing Japan against foreign dominance and promoting economic, industrial, and technological development in Japan and Asia. Furthermore, Komei is working to advance an agenda of Japonism in Europe to not only counter western influences, but to propogate Asian culture abroad.

How long does this guy's reservation get to float about unapplied before you'll accept an active one? The map shows Japan completely blank, there's nothing at all on the OP about a Japanese reservation, and that was a not-inconsiderable bit of work to be summarily dismissed.

Its been two days as far as I know since he's posted here, so I'd suggest TGing both him and the OP to see if either he will relinquish his reservation, or Osc can give you a notion of how long his reservation will last. (I'd assume by tomorrow if he doesn't come up with anything then you could probably take over)

Btw, I havent read the app, but could you check the guidance in the first page? Song legacy continues forces all East Asian nations to have tech group that is at the same level as western without westernization. Plus they are already recognized by colonial powers as a major player in the global realm. Thought you might want to know this... and how you really shouldnt be westernizing

So... no need to reverse engineer british ships, since you already have superior design by default. No need to westernize the army or have Europeans recognize you, since your tech is already at their level and they already do see you as equals.
