In Gentem, someone already reserved China. Play as Northern Spain, dammit.
This is the law of the jungle,
As old and as true as the sky,
The wolf that shall keep it may prosper,
But the wolf that shall break it must die,
As the creeper that girdles the tree trunk,
The law runneth forwards and back,
For the strength of the pack is the wolf,
And the strength of a wolf is the pack.

OK, fine in that case I will make an application for an Indian country. I would therefore like to reserve the territory of the British Raj (RL India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Burma/Myanmar) as a territorial core with RL Nepal, Bhutan, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka and Oman as territorial claims.

If you're interested, Breton for Rich Island is Enez Pinvidig. (I don't speak it, but I found some translation services from French. :p )

FINALLY got to take a look at this.

TG me once you are done, I have a few points that I want enhanced.

Weakness in military and navy can be a bit more explained... please? I mean, low total number of soldiers in particular province and mobilization being slow can occur anywhere, and I would like to have a bit more defined military section.

Could you... elaborate a bit more on Brittany coming as a second kingdom? The whole... French royal family coming to Brittany and France for whatever reason ignoring that due to some other occupation is nice and all, but how did that help establish the "second kingdom?" I would like to have a bit more buildup please ^^

Tracian Empire wrote:
Full Nation Name : The Roman Empire( Imperium Romanum)
Majority/Official Culture : The main and official culture is Roman, but the Greek culture has some influence, especially in Greece.
Territorial Core :
Territorial Claim :

Capital City : Constantinople/Byzantium
Population : 13.000.000

Government Type : Absolute Imperial Monarchy( at least in name)
Government Ideology/Policies : Imperialist, Militant, Nationalist, Religious
Government Focus :The Imperial Government usually focuses on the economy and culture, but in the least years, a modernization program has started, in order to bring the glorious Roman Empire on the same level with the Western nations.
Head of State : His Imperial Majesty, Julius II Palaeologus, Emperor of the Romans, King of Greece, Autocrat of Asia Minor and Duke of Thrace.
Head of Government : Imperial Chancellor Alexander Velsagio, Duke of Athens.
Government Description :
The Roman Government works in the same old ways, and it's tangled in useless bureaucracy and old traditions. The supreme authority in all matters in the Emperor( Imperator Augustus). An Imperial Senate, some kind of a Parliament exists, and it usually takes care of governing the land. The Imperial Senate is led by an Imperial Chancellor. Even if the Emperor usually leaves the Senate be, all the decisions of the Senate need to be approved by the Emperor, and he can dissolve it whenever he wants. Until the 1800 Revolts, the Senate was only formed by nobles, but now commoners can take part too. All the Senators are elected once every five years, but the Emperor has to approve them all, or else they are dismissed. Of course, the last Emperors have been pretty liberal.

Majority/State Religion : Eastern Imperial Orthodoxy
Religious Description : Pretty much the today Orthodoxy. The leader of the church is the Patriarch of Constantinople, who is also primus inter pares among all Orthodox Patriarchs. Every Patriarch is chosen by a Council of all the Archbishops and Bishops in the Empire, but his election has to be approved by the Emperor.

Economic Ideologies : Capitalist Economy, with a strong governmental control.
Major Production : Grains, agricultural products, silk, wood, coal, minerals and iron
Economic Description : The Roman economy is in the middle of a boom,as the recent reforms, inspired by how the Western economies work, managed to give it a big boost. Most of the Roman economy is based on its agriculture, even if the Empire started to use its natural resources. Also, the Empire is in a very good position for trade, between Europe and Asia, and between the Mediterranean Sea and the Black Sea.

Army Strength : The military is in the middle of a modernization, in order to bring it to a "Western level." Despite that, the Roman Imperial Army is a force to reckon with. In times of peace, it has about 300.000 soldiers, divided in Legions, even if many more can be used in case of war.
Army Weakness : One of the greatest weaknesses of the Imperial Army is it's technological inferiority, and conservative way of thinking.
Naval Strength : The Roman Empire is a naval power in the Southeastern Mediterranean, and in the Black Sea. The Imperial Navy has 90 ships, from which 15 battleships. A modernization progress has started, while the Imperial Navy tries to regain its old power and glory,
Naval Weakness : Once again, it's technological inferiority compared to the Western navies.
Further Military Description :
The Roman Imperial Army is the main military force of the Roman Empire. With about 300.000 soldiers, the Imperial Army is a pretty big and powerful armed force, even if it might be considered too conservative.
The Roman Imperial Guards are the personal guards of the Emperor, and the elite troops of the Empire. They are usually better armed and trained then most of the normal army.
The Roman Imperial Knights are not exactly knights as the name suggests, but a modern fighting force of 20.000 people, armed and trained in the Western standards.
The Roman Imperial Navy is the navy of the Roman Empire. With 90 ships, it's a pretty big one, and they are usually just protecting the trade of the Empire, even if they are ready to respond to any Austrian threat in the Mediterranean or to any Russian threat in the Black Sea.
National Goals : To modernize the Roman Empire, and to take control of the territories lost throughout the time, and especially Rome. We want Rome. Maybe even some colonies.
National Issues : The Roman Empire has to be modernized. It needs a pretty big change, both militarily, economically and politically. If someone could get rid of the conservatism and the old and obsolete traditions and bureaucracy, the Roman Empire would be an unstoppable force.
National Figures of Interest : Nope, I don't think so.
National Ambition/Aspirations : I want to modernize the Empire, to stop Russia and Austria from gaining influence in the Balkans, push them back, maybe take Italy and expand in Asia.
History :
(I will go with the history of the Roman Empire/Byzantium until 610.)
In 610, Emperor Heraclius decided to keep the Empire's language to Latin. Inspired by the original Roman Empire, more changes are made, including the creation of the Province System(similar to the Thema System). Latin is used more an more, and the Imperial Authority tries to push the Latin and the Roman culture in front of the Greek ones.
Between 610 and 700, in the Cursed Century, the Empire loses all its African, , and Asian possessions, and is almost pushed back from the entire Italy. Under the rule of Emperor Leo III, the Romans manage to stop the invading forces from conquering Constantinople in 701. From 702 to 720, the Roman armies manage to take back Asia Minor, and starts to push back into Asia. In the following years, the Romans try to gain control of Mesopotamia, but they are defeated into more battles, and forced to return to their former border.
In 750, under the rule of Constantine V, a process of latinization begins. The empire's attempts to push back into Asia are all failures. After the death of Constantine V in 775, the process of latinization continues, but he is followed by weak Emperors. Charlemagne's coronation as Roman Emperor in 800 is another hit for the Empire.
In 917, the Bulgarians cross the Danube and push the Romans back. They besiege the Constantinople in 930, but they fail to take it. The provinces in Bulgaria seem to be lost forever, as the Bulgarians stop all the Roman attempts to take them back.
In 976, Basil II becomes Emperor. He manages to bring the empire together, and in the next decades, he takes Syria back, pushes back and slaughters the Bulgarians. In 1014, all the provinces lost to the Bulgarians are recovered.
In 1055, Italy and Syria are lost. In 1071, in the Battle of Manzikert, the Seljuk Turks are defeated and pushed back. Asia Minor is saved. In 1054, the Pope and the Patriarch excommunicate each other. The West-East Schism.
In 1100, the Romans are defeated in Thrace, and once again lose their Bulgarian provinces. The Turks attack Asia Minor. The Roman Emperor requests help from the Pope, and during the Crusades, the Turks are pushed back, southeastern Asia Minor is taken back, as well as Syria. In 1179, the Seljuk Turks are defeated in the Battle of Myriokephalon, and pushed out of Asia Minor.
In 1200, Syria is lost. The Bulgarians try to attack Constantinople but are pushed back, and defeated. Some of the provinces are recovered. In 1204, the Crusaders try to conquer Constantinople, but they are defeated, and the Crusader fleet is burned down by the Greek Fire.
In the following centuries, the Romans successfully manage to push back the Turks under the Palaeologus Dynasty.Syria is recovered and then lost. Most of the wars with the Bulgarians end with stalemates.
In 1600, under Emperor Julius I the Bulgarians are defeated in two successive wars, and are occupied. The Emperor marries a Princess of Wallachia, and for a short time, Wallachia is in the Roman Empire. In 1620, the Turks attack again, but they are ambushed and defeated. The Roman Armies manage to take control of Syria again, but their attempt to gain Jerusalem is stopped by the Muslims. After that failure, in 1630, the Romans conquer Croatia. All plans of pushing towards Venice and Italy are stopped by the death of Julius I in 1639.His death brings the Empire into a civil war, as his two sons, Alexander and Augustin, are fighting for the throne,
The civil war ends with the victory of Alexander, but the empire lost Syria and Croatia. Wallachia declares independence. A Bulgarian rebellion defeats the Roman Army near Sophia. Bulgaria is lost.
During the 1700's, the empire was led by pretty bad Emperors, but they managed to keep its territorial integrity. A last Turkish attempt to invade Asia Minor is stopped in 1753.
The Roman Empire stayed neutral at the beginning of the Napoleonic Wars. In 1793, taking advantage of a civil war in Bulgaria, the Roman Armies attack and conquer it, wiping out all resistance. The Roman Empire attacks Austria in 1805, and takes back Croatia. In 1809, the Roman Empire is defeated at Kosovo Polje by the combined Austrian, Croatian and Bulgarian troops. Bulgaria and Croatia are lost. Peace is signed.
From 1809 until today, the Empire has experienced a great modernization. If this continues, the Empire might once again become a superpower. The road to Rome lies ahead.

Amazing app. Only... a bit of something that I wish I could see.

Is there anything else that you could specify as strength? I usually don't do this... but your weakness of technological inferiority is so obvious that it really cannot be criticized... but meanwhile, nothing about that famous Roman discipline that everyone expects. What is the spice of your army? Also, is Greek Fire still a thing? If so... you should write it in the naval section. That is a HUGE strength that you missed unless the tech was lost forever.

Err... I know this is VERY personal, but could you tell me how the Palaeologus Dynasty pushed back the Turks? I am really curious as to how did this turning point in history went.

Oh and... what was the deciding factor to not become a "Eastern Roman Empire" or "Byzantium?" I would like to know that as well ^^

The Constitution establishes a Free Market Economy an allows the people to vote for Parliament members, 5 from each province, with there being 5 provinces in total. The colonies send 1 representative each.

Majority/State Religion : Roman Catholic
Religious Description : Same as RL

Economic Ideologies : Capitalist Free Market Economy
Major Production : Goods from colonies, such as Cash Crops from Ynys Cyfoetheg and New Brittany, and Silk/Lace from Brittany itself.
Economic Description : The economy is currently booming, trade with other nations fueled by products from the colonies is the backbone of the economy.

Army Strength : 60,000 strong, the Army is not as funded as the Navy. Still could kick a small African Army because of its technological superiority. 50,000 troops are stationed on the mainland, 1,000 stationed in Ifni, 2,000 stationed on Ynys Cyfoetheg, and 7,000 stationed in New Brittany.
Army Weakness : Less focus than on the Navy, only 50,000 troops stationed on the mainland. The colonies also have a less than massive garrison, and would not hold long against attacks. The actual Army could probably not resist a large attack, due to its size.
Naval Strength : 3,000 people, consists of 25 Frigates, 10 Man-of-Wars, and two experimental Ironclads. Heavily funded.
Naval Weakness : The fleet is very slow, as all ships have to move at once. If one ship lolligags , the whole fleet has to stop and let the ship catch up. The ships also take while to repair, considering the sheer amount of ships, and relatively low amount of workers.
Further Military Description : Not as advanced, but most focus in the ground troops is on artillery, with two regiments (each regiment is 5,000 on the mainland) dedicated to cannons. This is because the thought process is that the cannons will obliterate most of an invading force, and the cavalry will mop up the stragglers. The cavalry itself has 3 Regiments, and the other 5 mainland regiments are foot soldiers. Ifni has all foot soldiers, Ynys Cyfoetheg has 1,000 of each, and New Brittany has 2,000 Cavalry, 1,000 artillery, and 5,000 foot soldiers.

National Goals : Expand current colonies, snuggle up with big brother France or bigger brother UK, continue to build upon current economy.
National Issues : People in the colonies are demanding more representation, and are threatening to rebel if they don't have as much representation as the provinces.
National Figures of Interest : Not really.
National Ambition/Aspirations : The people don't have one fixed goal, other than resisting annexation.

History : IRL, the French invaded and annexed Brittany. Instead, the French were to worried about problems elsewhere that they never invaded Brittany. Brittany joined Portugal in being one of the first countries to send a merchant fleet around the Cape, 20 or so gears after the Portuguese did so. The set up a colony in what is now called Liberia, and they named it New Brittany once it grew bigger. They sent a fleet across the Atlantic along with most of Europe during the "Scramble for North America", managing to nab RL Puerto Rico during the chaos, naming the island Ynys Cyfoetheg, or Rich Island in Britton. Afterwords, with the French threat growing bigger, they decided to stop their expansion and focus on improving the Army. After the Duke made some bad decisions, including reducing the military, the people overthrew the Grand Duchy and installed a King. When the ideas of liberalism spread from the Renaissance, the people revolted once again, and what was called the Reign of Terror began in Brittany. The people executed many royals, and only after several years was the current constitution established, restoring the monarchy, but with elements of democracy. The only problems now are that the colonies are demanding more representation in the government, and they have threatened to rebel if their demands are not answered.

Right. I need history lessons.

That seems reasonable, and the history stuff was just me wanting more from you than actual requirement... so... Accepted

I guess my main priority once the RP starts is to increase the military's size via recruitment campaigns. And also to invade/puppet Iceland. (I intentionally left that out of my app just in case someone wanted to do a Danish resistance.). Oh, and invest in foreign economies of course. Because if the world economy is strong my economy is strong. :P

Can't you just make the map normal?
And if you cant, make me Dark Black. Like the Black in my flag.

As old and as true as the sky,
The wolf that shall keep it may prosper,
But the wolf that shall break it must die,
As the creeper that girdles the tree trunk,
The law runneth forwards and back,
For the strength of the pack is the wolf,
And the strength of a wolf is the pack.

I will add it. You gave me some good ideas. Expect a complete app soon.

So. By avoiding the defeats at Manzikert, and Myriokephalon, the Turks never got the chance to settle in Asia Minor. The Empire was able to maintain it's borders. Without a Fourth Crusade to ruin everything, the Romans/Byzantines managed to push the Turks back. The Fourth Crusade was really a big hit. Without it, no problem.

Well, having a Latin Roman Empire over there seemed a much more interesting idea for me, since I would have more rights for Rome. Also, the thought of having real Roman disciplined armies fighting the Austrians and the Russians seemed incredibly good to me. :)

Greek fire was lost due to the last Emperor HIDING the formula when ottomans invaded. But it never fell, I would say it exists and only for him *btw: for those who dont know, Greek Fireally can burn on top of water and was used in naval battles by byzantine
