Pyrade wrote:Name/Alias: Oni-sutoka Taro (Goes by Taro)
Gender: Male
Age: 104 (Technically 1104, but for 1000 of those years his body didn't age)
Appearance:
True Form(Only has 4 tails at the moment)
Fox Form(The white rune from his true form still appears on his chest)
Species: Kitsune1004 years ago
The glyph on his black furred chest pulsated gently. Taro inspected the cave entrance like a wolf hunting prey. The scent of the demon's magical signature permeated the air all around him. He had tracked the foul abomination from a small village after using his mask to drive it out of the poor blacksmith's body.
Found you Demon . . .
The familiar, predatorial thought floated around the 100 year old Kitsune's mind, calling up the adrenaline he was so well acquainted with. He could see everything, the coming and goings of the demon through the cave entrance, the auras of the victims it had brought into the cave for feeding. Over the years this particular demon had plagued the same, unfortunate village. Dragging children and elders away to feed its hunger, and now it would end. By the blade of the Kitsune hunter Taro. The muscular kitsune had brought many demons to their painful end with his powerful shadow magic and his enchanted blade. He had been born and bred for this task, in a family devoted to the protection of the mortals, he was the favoured son, the one who bore the Akame Hanta glyph on his chest. It was Taro who stood at the cave entrance, his eyes filled with a pale white luminescence, that would bring the blessed blade Kiba-Tsume down upon this demon on his 100th birthday. Taro had always taken this honour seriously, and today was no exception. He bowed his head and murmured a small prayer to his ancestors before he unsheathed the blade from its holster. The blood red edge glimmered in the full moonlight, emerging with a soft sssshk, reflecting the 3 tails of its wielder before it came to rest poised and ready in his sword hand. The long ornate hilt stuck out slightly, ready to accommodate a second hand in the space that preceded the snarling, silver fox's head at the end, but Taro needed only one of his powerful arms to swing the sword. With sword and wielder both eager for death, Taro entered the dark, menacing maw of the cave. The passage way only got darker from there, and the smell of death and decay grew stronger the deeper he went, his eyes unhindered by the shadows. Eventually darknesses gave way to a chamber shrouded in shadows with a single beam of moonlight impaled through the center of a bloodied altar originating from a crystaline formation on the ceiling of the cavern. The demon itself rested in the chamber. With no physical form it was a collection of emotion that just blanketed the entire cavern. Taro's keen senses felt the change immediately, he could feel the multiple angers and envies of this demon. He could smell the death that stained its astral signature to the point where the smell almost burnt his nostrils. He could see it, the faint purple-green that tainted the otherwise clear air. Then came the shift, the spike of surprise as his prey spotted its predator.
How did you-?
The question lanced across the dimensions of the demon and Taro smirked as he watched the cloud collect into a form that resembled something vaguely humanoid, if only because it had a pair of legs and a pair of arms. The rest of it was nothing like a humanoid, but Taro had always found the demons took the shape he would associate with their emotional state. This one had jagged spines protruding from all of its sides, and no head or neck, merely a hump between its shoulders.
"I am Oni-sutoka Taro . . . The next Demon Stalker, and your end."
He replied to the demons telepathic communication with words, allowing his deep, rough voice to fill the air. Taro's glyph faded to its normal gentler paleness as he returned to the world as it was. The demon had materialized in this plane, he had no need for the conflicting senses.
Now he found himself faced with the literal stench of death and decay. The pungent rot of the earth that surrounded of the cavern was overlayed with the smell of corpses. Taro could pick them out in the gloom of the cavern, but he paid them no heed. His target was in front of him. The demon seemed to pulse with amusement before it rushed the large kitsune.
Dog! You know not who you challenge!
The demon screamed in thought before its claws clashed with Taro's blade. Where the demon made contact it spread hot, yellow flames that clung to the weapon. Taro grinned as the shadows around his 3 tails grew even darker. With the pale light of the moon casting shadows on the walls of the cavern Taro's blade darkened, the crimson blade glowing with impossible darkness. With 3 swift slashes he sent the demon sprawling backwards. The screams of agony that sliced across Taro's consciousness heralded the separation of several quills the demon had blocked with.
"That won't help you against me beast. . ."
Taro muttered even as the quills grew back. He charged toward the demon, slashing once then vanishing into the shadows. The demon howled its telepathic agony, searching the cavern for its assailant.
"Where are you dog . . . Come out and face your nightmares."
The demon taunted. Taro darted out to impale his foe on his blade. The demon reacted faster though, its body bubbling out around the blade to avoid its touch. Then the spiny hand of the hellish creature wrapped around Taro's throat, driving him to the ground as its maniacal cackling faded out. Taro struggled and writhed under the demon's incredible grip. His mind was being assaulted with thousands of fears and phobias. The demon had been feeding for years and its power was considerable, almost overwhelming Taro. He opened his mouth and a gout of black flames leapt forth onto the demons abyssal face. The flames burnt all they touched, consuming part of the demon as Taro sustained them just long enough to free himself. After that he stood to his feet and thrust his sword through the demon's chest, impaling it properly this time. The demon collapsed against his shoulder guard, a soft wheezing laugh escaping as its deathrattle. Taro finished the job, splitting the creature in half before he noticed the runes on the walls of the cavern that had appeared. The room had been so full of death and the demon he hadn't noticed the rune curse.
Sleep a thousand years warrior . . . And the world will leave you behind
The demon's final conscious thought came before it perished and Taro froze.
The breath filled Taro's empty lungs like a flood of life. With it came his thoughts and his consciousness.
I should not be alive. How am I alive? What is this?
They resumed as he looked around the cavern. Nothing had changed in the room, it was all as it had been,
One thousand years ago . . .
The thought dawned on Taro when he saw the glyphs fading out, their magic spent and the demon corpse fading to nothingness. The ancient warrior left the cave, a thousand years later, but not a day older.
Since then Taro has given up on demon-hunting. The world has changed, demons are not the worst threats these days. The technology of the day makes it easy for anyone to threaten another and this new threat is what Taro hunts now. He hunts those who oppress or harm those around them, and he bring justice with him. Adjusting to the new world hasn't been easy, in fact he still can't handle a toaster. But he is here now, and he's determined to continue protecting the populace, even if they don't particularly like his existence.
Powers and Abilities:
Katana and claw fighting proficiency.
Rune of Akame Hanta:
The white rune carved into Taro's chest can be activated at will, significantly increasing his senses and granting him Predator Instinct and Astral Perception which allows him to see trails of residual magic, unfortunately the interference caused by this near sensory overload decreases his tolerance for pain and becomes distracting in combat.
Kitsune Tail: The tails are the source of power for Kitsunes. The more tails a Kistune has the more powerful they are. They can hide these tails, however this lessens their power considerably. Kitsune's either gain tails by living long lives or by defeating great evil spirits and other threats to humanity.
Taro cannot hide his tails, instead they remain "deactivated" which is the equivalent of another Kitsune hiding theirs. When activated he gains access to their powers. Activation causes the tail to absorb light, creating shimmering shadows around it.
(A modified version of Charmera's character, Masami, copied and modified with permission)
No tail: Minor physical boost to peak human levels, Enhanced senses, Night Vision, http://, Shapeshifting (Into fox form), Semi-Immortality
One tail: Increased Physical abilities, Absolute Darkness
Two tail: Increased abilities, Dark Fire(Only creation via breath or claws and destruction of said flames, a using more than two breaths of dark fire leaves Taro feeling drained and unable to sustain more than one tail), Shadow Camouflage, Wallrunning, Simple Shadow Manipulation
Three tail: Increased abilities, Dark slash, Darkness Infusion
Four tail: Physical abilities increased,Shadow Mimicry(Full Formed, but does not have intangibility or invulnerability, instead the shadow form can be damaged as normal but touching the shadows with a living object causes that object to suffer severe lacerations(can affect intangible living objects)), Darkness Aura, Shadow Mutilation
Five tail: Locked
Six tail: Locked
Seven tail: Locked
Eight tail: Locked
Nine tail: Locked
Weaknesses: Sustaining his rune ability eventually starts to confuse Taro. Having multiple tails active for a prolonged period of time drains Taro of power. In his Shadow form he is vulnerable to light based attacks (focused beams and light related powers). Shadows cannot form where there is no light meaning in absolute darkness he cannot use any shadow abilities. His hide can withstand a great deal of blunt force trauma but slashing and piercing attacks still do a lot of damage.
(/ indicates an increase when a tail is activated in the format of 0/1/2/3/4)

Standard Equipment:
His sword "Yami", his Kabuki mask (long ago it had the power to drive a possessing spirit from its vessel) and his shoulder plates (see picture)
Intelligence:
Taro knows many wonderful things about hunting, tracking, ambushes, tactics, demon execution and so on, he also possesses the mystical wisdom of a Kitsune. Unfortunately, he still has difficulty understanding more modern concepts, like internal combustion, how television works and the interweb
Optional stuff.
Theme song:
Random Facts about your character:
- Hates waffle irons(there was an incident . . .)
- Loves classical music, and finds himself enjoying rock music of the modern age
- Absolutely despises cauliflower and vegetarians
- Has no human form to shift into, so he always appears amongst humanity as a black fox when he isn't fighting
- His blade used to be able to cleave intangible demons in half but with his 1000 year stasis, the magic has weakened to the point of disappearing
- Refuses to sing, anything, ever. . . Just no.
Is this okay?

You've seen superheroes right? The hilariously bright and colorful costumes? I'm going for something like that.
Ya I get you, was just trying to think of something that would fit her character instead of the generic costume. But if you're going the traditional way why not just copy Cheetah? Like this:
