Man- I am breezing through Crasher Wake's gym in Pokemon Platinum. Temp, I see now wht you like Shinx so much; I found one at level four on the first route, which is the highest level on that whole route, captured it, and trained it to the point where it demolished Fantina's strongest Pokemon- by that time as a Luxio.

It is no longer my Number 2 Pokemon, though; that honor goes to
Crobat, a former Zubat I caught in the Oreburgh mine and evolved with high friendship. It has such an assortment of dickish and trolling moves that it destroyed Mayleen's entire team. Almost entirely by itself, with a bit of help from Staravia.

And I use Staravia whenever I run into my rival, because it just trumps his strongest Pokemon by a mile. Then there's Bibarel, who has no function except to be an HM Slave.

No, I love Shinx because Luxray replaced my starter (Piplup, that was back when I loved Water types) somewhere in the mid-game. That role started with Eternia, then continued with Crasher Wake through Candice, and was solidified at Volkner. Yes, I used a Luxray to kill Volkner. It had Giga Impact and Hyper Beam. For the LOLs.

Bibarel's only use is as an HM Slave. That's what happens when you can learn 6-7 of the HMs in your region.

So if I used a picture of Barbossa for example. . . it wouldn't be a problem?

You know, I sometimes wonder if Bibarel used to be different, but then some vengeful Programmer who had a feud with another one made it possible for the other Programmer's creation to learn most of the HMs, thus making gamers only see his potential for HMs.

Not likely, but it would be a cool Backstory.

Luxray has always been one of my favorite Pokemon, but, as with prior games in the franchise, I never took the time to unleash its full potential on the gyms and other NPCs...and likely won't get a chance to do so for a while because I don't have a DS....or any of the Sinnoh games. That, and on the EoS I would always get Shinx on the personality quiz and proceed to steam roll through most of the game up until the player and his partner get sucked into the future.
