That map's not quite accurate. In the province of Saskatchewan (the rectangle in the middle of Canada, where I live atm...), Canadian football is far more popular than hockey. The level to which people obsess over it is insane. Just search up "Saskatchewan Roughriders fans" on Google Images, and you'll get the picture.

Despite the patriotism I exude, I actually am quite critical of my country, personally.

I just don't like it when foreigners insult my country, especially when their arguments aren't even valid. Despite all the superficial similarities, Canada is not "just like America" (I've heard that bullshit so many fucking times), and I'm not saying that out of prejudice towards the States -- I say it because it's true. And fighting against that stereotype is one of the major reasons for my patriotism, really. I will be the first to criticise my country and point out all the shit that's wrong with it, but it's not fair to say that Canada is essentially the same as the US.

For one, your space program is so inferior, all its produced of note is a big fucking robot arm. For two, your air force is basically our auxillary air force. For three, your land is little more than a few acres of snow.

I will say, I should compliment Canada for a few things. Winter, for instance. Its a nice break from the heat we have down here. Rush is a good band. You also have the second best maple syrup in the world. Yall are remarkably skilled at passing off sliced ham as bacon. Fireball is a nice drink. Your nation makes for a good buffer region with Russia, and when Putin inevitably attempts to invade America, your people will make excellent human shields.

Winter, for instance. Its a nice break from the heat we have down here.

Winter.... Well, personally, I have a love/hate relationship with winter. I like cool weather, but some parts of the country (e.g. Saskatchewan) take it to extremes that are difficult to bear.

But I must credit winter with having given me +20 to cold resistance (and -10 to heat resistance, but so be it). -10C can be t-shirt weather, especially in May when the snows are melting and we're emerging from -30C weather.

Rush is a good band.

Avril Lavigne is the best, though.

Well, to be frank, Canada's military has, since our independence, mostly been used for peacekeeping missions (though Harper's been trying to change that, apparently), and most of us disapprove of the US's wars and want to stay as far away from that as we can.

I mean, hell, Canada's not at all a saint, and yeah, sometimes we assist in enabling the States' messiah complex, but for the most part we're just trying to stay on good terms with as many people as possible (especially the powerful ones, but who can blame us for that?).
