Finn took off his Leather Jacket he had come to wear over the summer, and put it away. Then, he Put his Ravenclaw robes on, and outstretched his hand, as Herbert Climbed on him, and then laid on his neck. He watched as it started to rain, and grabbed his things, waiting for the Train to stop.

He shook his head, and desperately sought a friendly hufflepuff face anywhere in the crowd to get his mind of the angelic, er, interesting stranger. Anybody, a nice friend or something to bring him back out of this weird haze and back into reality. He spotted a few fellow Hufflepuffs in the crowd, and gravitated towards Annabelle, a girl whom he considered to be a relatively good friend. She was talking it up with some Ravenclaw boy he'd never seen before.
Looks like a poser, he thought to himself, having the tiny bit of social filter required to not insult the guy to his face. Of course, Sam realized that he had a problem with being judgmental.
"Hey Anna," Sam greeted, presenting his hand for a special handshake. "Who's this?"

Annabelle Dawson
Thousands little rain drops pounded the compartment's window as the train came to a full stop at Hogsmeade station. Almost immediately the trains corridors became choked with hordes of students and their pets as everyone came pouring out the train and onto the platform, bringing a cacophony of noise with them. On the tiny platform, students became bombarded by wave after wave of icy rain.
On cue, the moment the train came to a steady stop at the train station, Annabelle joined the throng of students pushing and shoving their way to the platform with Fin not far behind. Once off the train Annabelle scanned the area for a familiar Hufflepuff face within the crowd. Her lack of height falling her, she swiftly retreated near Fin and soon began to orbit around him, too timid to break free. Increasing anxious and tense, Annabelle began to nervously fiddle with her fingers while she cautiously navigated though the crowd of people. Suddenly she heard the voice of a old friend cry out her name.Yalos wrote:Samuel Lyons

"Sam!" Annabelle cried out. Briskly she gracefully twirled around with a gleeful smile on her face before extending her hand and performing their special handshake. "Sam this is Finnagaen or Fin," Annabelle said nervously, caught off guard how disorientated and conflicted Sam looked. "Fin this my good friend Samuel."

Cyrus pulled up the hood of his robe over his head before he shuffled off the train with his belongings into the heavy rain. He noticed that nobody was levitating their bags. Perhaps, he thought, it was an unspoken rule, and besides, he didn’t dare try another spell after the disaster to do with Becca’s game-boy, and certainly not around Cadmus Anvar - he glanced at the tall, eccentric-looking Deputy Headmaster - who wouldn’t take kindly to a first year’s failure. So he lugged his luggage, his gait tilted to one side as he tried to keep the bottom of the suitcases from getting muddied. He was not used to strenuous, physical, menial work; within seconds of his arrival, he already wished Samus the house elf was here to help him.
The flow of students walking towards Hogwarts was split into two streams and Cyrus melded into the mass of first years, beside the newly met Phoebe and Lidia. He gazed into the distance: there stood Hogwarts, the dark gothic castle thrown into momentary contrast against white flashes of lightning.
“Do you know about the thestrals?” he asked the girls quite excitedly. “Grandma said I should be able to see them. The books said they look like these devilish winged horses. They’re very rare magical creatures, and they pull carriages here!”
Cyrus stood up on his tippy toes to see past the crowd in front of him: the Great Lake approached. “But we’re taking the boats. Only second years and above go on the carriages.” Then in a conspiratorial voice he said, “Maybe down the track we can go to the groundskeeper’s to take a look at them.”

The seconds that immediately followed Fin finishing his sentence seemed to play in slow motion for Annabelle. She knew all to well about Sam's peculiar phobia and paranoia of strangers and had experienced first hand Sam getting detention or losing points for Hufflepuff for starting scuffles. No matter who they are or how friendly they appeared to be, Sam always expected the worst; sort of like a guard dog, Annabelle often joked to herself. Nevertheless, she wasn't going to let her friend get in trouble, not right in front of the Deputy Headmaster on their first day back. So she prepared to bravely try and told back Sam if he tried anything stupid, like he had done on so many occasions in the past.
But instead of shoving Fin or punching him, Sam was positively friendly. Even going so far to give Fin a hug. Annabelle tried her hardest not to gawk at Sam in complete shock at what she had just seen as she nodded in agreement with Finn's and Sam's suggestion. Annabelle had never seen Sam hug a complete stranger, especially one that wasn't a pretty girl. Her minded raced with all sorts of wild theories as she followed Sam up to the castle. A creature of habit, the slightest deviation almost always deeply unsettled her.
Then Sam point the tall first year. Slowly, Annabelle when on her tippy toes and saw the tall first year for herself.
"She doesn't like any first year I've ever seen. Do you think she's lost?" Annabelle replied inquiringly.

Phoebe Lyons
"The-threstrals?" Phoebe's voice shook. "Do you mean the death horses?" Her eyes widened in slight fear. Her brother's stories, of the dark and dangerous creatures of the Wizarding world, came flashing back to her.
"I-I don't know if that's such a good idea," she tried reasoning, "after all, it won't be so good if we miss our sorting. We can't miss that. And besides....threstrals are really dangerous."

Lidia Adamski
There was something Lidia didn't like about this boy, although she couldn't quite put her finger on it. She could tell he was from a magical family, and he seemed to be smart...stuck up? Maybe. she knew she was missing something...something important. Still, the idea of invisible, carnivorous horses intrigued her. Right now, tough, she was more concerned with the upcoming sorting. She wished she was with Kyle, but she couldn't see him over the hundreds of students around her.
"I don't know, maybe sometime. Shouldn't we be getting in the boats though?"
Kyle Adamski
Kyle looked for Lidia, but she had already disappeared into the hundreds of faces surrounding the train. He hoped Phoebe was with her. "She has a good head on her shoulders, that Phoebe" He thought to himself. "Lyons....Lyons....I've heard that name before" He turned the name over and over in his head, then it came to him. "Samuel Lyons. Hufflepuff third year" Kyle had never liked Samuel. He thought he was loud, and only interested in two things: himself, and girls "Be nice. You might be seeing a lot of him soon. So he has a sister? How did you miss that one?"
Giving up on finding Lidia, Kyle drifted slowly towards the gaggle of students following Hector. Most students were scared by the staffer's erratic personality changes, but Kyle thought the were interesting. He made it into a game; he studied the wild swings in personality, then he would try to predict what brought them on and what personality he would take. He had gotten rather good at it, although it was still a very delicate art.

The Professor of Potions walked over to Lidia, having heard her mention of the boats.
"A first year, are you? Best be heading to the boats if ya are, we'll be setting off soon! Oh, I haven't introduced myself. Professor Avongadra, Potions Professor, at your service."
Sal examined the students idly, taking care to ensure that they did not notice his piercing gaze. His gaze immediately started with Lidia. She seemed nice enough, and he could see the light of knowledge and learning burning in her eyes. Satisfied, Sal looked towards Cyrus. The boy seemed nice, but with the boy's talk of the death horses earlier, Sal was a bit worried. Best give him a chance, Sal thought to himself.

Annabelle kept her glaze fixed on the tall first year while she intently listened to what Finn had to say. After thinking it for a minute, she concluded that Finn was probably right. "Yeah, I think your right Finn, but I think we should ask if she's lost just in case."
