Outskirts
Tupper Lake

Theodore yawned as he threw a few branches into the fire to keep it burning through the night. It was his shift as night watch and the three things that he had to do was keep watch for freaks, keep watch for survivors, and keep the fire burning until the dawn shift which should be Dominic's, if he remembered correctly. He remembered how he had gotten to this spot with the other survivors.

Theodore had walked for days along a highway, the road was jammed up with abandoned cars full of freaks, most of them locked up so that the freaks inside could not get out. He only had to chop down the occasional stray freak, or at least that's what he called them. Theodore was an old man and he did not want to think of a creative name for the reanimated corpses so he called them freaks. He kept walking along the highway and kept looking for a purpose to live on and one day, he decided that he wanted to see the world and society reverted to how it was before the outbreak. That was what fueled him along so many countless days and nights, to keep walking.

Theodore had kept walking until the highway shrunk into a smaller road and as he looked around, he saw that he was near a town named Tupper Lake and he walking along Main Street. Buildings appeared before him and he decided to look around for food and survivors. Smaller towns were less affected than large cities like New York City and Boston, so there would be a greater chance of survivors. He had hoped that there were not any raider groups around these parts and as far as he knew now, there wasn't. Theodore had entered building where he could, he didn't want to break down doors as that might cause too much noise and attract freaks. He met Dominic in a donut shop along Main St. There had been no hostility between the two of them and had decided to walk together for the time being. They kept looking around and met others before making camp on the outskirts of Tupper Lake.

Theodore was woken out of his reminiscence by the timer on a watch he found in town. His shift was over and it was time to wake Dominic up for dawn shift. He stood up slowly and stretched a bit before walking and crouching down next to Dom's sleeping form and gently shook him awake. Once he made sure that Dominic was not going to fall asleep again, he went to his spot in the camp and taking out his old teddy bear while using his bag as a pillow, he fell asleep.

Just yesterday, a 12-year old girl by the name of Lily had arrived to the camp, who appeared to be all by herself. She appeared to be able to handle herself, or at least pretended like she could, brandishing a kitchen knife tightly like she was ready to lash out and defend herself if they had ended up being a threat to her. And she had clearly been out for a little while by herself, looking dirty and grimy like she had been sleeping in the dirt and such for days on end now. However, she acted surprisingly...mellow about the whole thing with her being alone, by herself, for over a week by now. Like she didn't even really care or mind. Maybe she just accepted it for what it was, who knows, but she clearly wasn't as bothered with being alone as you would normally expect from a young girl of her age.

There hadn't been much she had done since she arrived, other than being introduced to various people at the camp, probably being told about rules that applied there after she accepted to stay, and such like that. She did however sorta keep to herself a lot. She talked to some others, but for the most part, just did her own thing, which seemed to consist mostly of sitting by herself, staring, thinking, sometimes holding the kitchen knife upon her lap. To an outsider that doesn't know her, it might look like she was down about something, but all she was really doing was, well, thinking. With a kitchen knife on her lap.

Right now, she was just stirring out of her sleep as dawn was arriving, having slept long enough for her satisfaction, and not really sleeping much anyway, especially since all of this had gone down. She blinked her eyes awake, slowly getting up and yawning and stretching, rubbings the sleepiness out of her eyes. She looked around, checking to see what her surroundings were like, but didn't move from her sleeping spot quite yet.

Camp, Tupper Lake

After months of of traveling, Azad finally ran out of gas near Tupper Lake. He had tried to enter town but there where to many Iblis to fight off. Iblis was the name Azad had given to the man eating things. It was the Arabic word for devil and he couldn't think of anything else then that this was the work of the devil himself. After he had to fled out of the town, he came upon a small camp with a handfull of people who took him in. With daily jobs they managed to stay around. People kept coming on a slow rate, though there where also people who died, the matter of how they died didn't seem to bother anyone anymore. Azad had been in this camp for a few weeks now and everything started to sink in on what had happend.

When the day before a little girl appeared at the campsite he broke down, the girl reminded him in some kind of way to his own daughter who he had lost just months ago.
The remaining light of the day he kept away from the camp, wandering around in the forest, checking the traps and clearing his mind a bit. When he returned it was alright started to get dark and so he got to bed instantly, hoping for better days to come.

Josh-James "Mooney" Graham Moone
Tupper Lake, NY
Five months after outbreak.

Mooney couldn't remember the last time he had some decent sleep. The moaning was getting to him again, and all he wanted for the last hour he was going to have sleeping was for some form of peace and quiet. The medium sized green tent he was sleeping in was a replication he bought from a military surplus store, along with a lot of stuff he had in his possession currently. He had placed it slightly further away from the rest of the group, near the forest, but not so near the wires that were holding back the small amount of rotters, that he called them, that had accumulated during the night. "You're fucking with me, right?" He spoked to himself, unzipping the entrance from the inside and pushing his head outside to inspect the noise.

He spotted his motorcycle over the fire from the camp, a Triumph Thunderbird, standing partially in bits as Mooney was trying to clean out part of the engine. He picked up his katana, quite an elegant piece that was given to him as a gift from his parents during his teens. His parents had gone to Japan for a holiday, which had allowed him to practice some of his camping skills without anyone worrying about him. He put the strap of the weapon around his chest as he walked out, and drew the sword from it's sheath. It was meant to be an ivory carved hilt, shaped as a dragon with a ruby engraved into it - however, the wear and tear on it suggested otherwise.

He watched the new three rotters try to push their way into the camp, the barbed wire that had been set up with a variety of sticks and poles in place, and cans, old bottles and other noisy objects to make noise if anything were to hit them. Dawn was making it's way through the camp, Mooney spotting a few of the camp members waking up from their slumber. He turned to the struggling rotters, and raised the sword up high, striking the first in head and splitting the top half of their head in half. He placed his foot on the limp rotters' chest, and slid the sword from its place. The second rotter received an unfortunate slice to the head, the cap of it's skull flying off in a spectacular fashion. He paused before the third, wiping the sword on the ground to clean the blood and filth from it. He stood before the last rotter, and aimed carefully into the mouth of it, jabbing hard and quick to break the stem of brain. He slid the sword out of the rotter and cleaned it again, returning it to it's sheath.

Mooney rubbed his eyes. He had been preparing for this event for most of his life, and now it seemed like there was no use in even trying to survive with the amount of death around. He could remember how he met the group a few weeks ago - someone had led a herd of rotters towards the house he was staying in, and he was split from his equipment. He was scavenging in a shop when he was found, and the people in the group were kind enough to let him join them. The paranoia that he may have been the last alive anywhere was almost firmly set in before he saw them, but now he had found his place again. He offered them the medical supplies he had, he offered to hunt for them, and he offered to maintain their vehicles. The one thing he didn't say was where his other supplies were - and he wouldn't. It wasn't time to tell them - he wasn't even sure whether he could still trust them, especially with a young girl suddenly appearing on her own. He wasn't sure how the camp would react to her, but it was going well so far. He walked over to the camp fire, sitting down and taking in the warmth while observing the group.

Dominic Ferrara
Tupper Lake, New York
5 months after outbreak

Dominic had been awake for several hours now and had seen the other survivors shuffling out of their tents. He had been clearing the walkers on the fence, poking their head with a sharp iron rod. Watching the camp and protecting them from any sort of attack. He was uncomfortable without a gun, he had lost his during his escape from New York City when he had given up on defending his bosses and drove upstate. His escape led here to Tupper Lake where he had met Theodore and from there had seen and joined up the camp. When they arrived at the camp, it was a hole in a wall. It was chaotic, no one was guarding the fences and everyone ran around doing their own thing to survive. This was until Dominic gave them all the shouting of their lives, where Dom had angrily berated them for their lack of emotional control and direction. Dom organized the camp along with Theodore and started the guards and everything. He gave them all jobs and such, giving them a meaning to life once again. He had finished clearing the walkers and decided tonrest by the guard post. He was worried as supplies were running thin and they would soon have to go into town to scavenge, a dangerous motion as nothing drove away the hordes from there.
"What I would,'t give to go back to whacking heads for the mafia." Dom said quietly to himself as he held his baseball bat and gave it a shine.

Steve was royally pissed off. He had come down all the way from Canada to get to this place, and so far they weren't exactly breaking down their doors to welcome him. Well, actually, they were, and that was the problem. He yanked his trusty pipe wrench out of the Zed's face (or what was left of it) and spun around to catch another one square in the jaw. Its neck cracked and it slumped to the ground. "Whew. That's the last of them." He continued walking for a couple more minutes before he heard voices. Something about the mafia. He flattened himself against the ground and sneaked up to where he thought the voices were coming from. He nearly shouted in joy when he saw the camp. A little worse for the wear than he had hoped, but there it was. He decided that he would approach openly and non-threateningly and hopefully not get his balls shot off. "Hey! Word on the street is there's a survivor camp somewhere around here. You wouldn't happen to know where that is, would you?" He smiled and offered his hand to the man keeping watch, then looked down at it. "Ah. Sorry." He wiped it on his shirt and offered it again.

Lily rose from her sitting position where she had been laying at on the ground, stretching and yawning. She glanced around at the others still sleeping around her, and headed out to where the people who would be guarding and such would be. She saw a new arrival greeting the man who was currently on guard duty, and she started to approach the two of them, but keeping her distance. Not because she was afraid of them. She wasn't. If they were a threat for some reason, she could just stab them. No big deal. But because she was more here to sort of eavesdrop and observe than to really talk to them herself. Though she made no effort to hide herself, and for Steve, he could see her in his field of view, standing a ways behind Dominic, watching the two of them. Not that it meant anything in this day and age, seeing as the world was now a world of infected people, but she looked rather serious for a child. Not scared about the world like you might typically expect from a child in this world. Scared, sad, and depressed constantly, hiding behind their parents and such for protective. She looked as if the world around her had no emotional affect on her like it did with a lot of her fellow children near her age or younger, and plenty of the adults on top of that. All there was noticeable about her was her constant serious expression, and the fact that her hand was lowered over what looked like some sort of knife, like she was ready to lash out if necessary...

Camp, Tupper Lake

Azad woke up in his tent, it was actually way to early to get up but once he was a wake he couldn't sleep again so the only option was to get out of bed. He crawled out of his tent wanted to go take a leak when he noticed the little girl. The day before Azad could even look at her without thinking of his own daughter. Fora brief moment he looked at her untill Azad noticed the stranger. It seemed to be alright there so Azad continued on his way to the bushes. After forfilling his needs he went back, took something to drink and wandered off to pray. Praying was the only moment of peace in the mind of Azad, that's why he kept doing it. While praying he heard some noises and looked up. There was a Iblis who was stuck in the mud. After praying Azad walked over with his crowbar and stabbed it through the Iblis skull.
Now that he was done with his morning routine he returned to the camp. For some time now they had been at the place, Azad figured it was time to move on, there wasn't much left here worth staying. He decided to talk about it with the rest in the evening. The minds of all the people had to stay focused now that they had to go into the town to refill some supplies.

Just drop everything you have and let me check you out for bites and such. If you don't like that, you can go run off. We haven't keep this camp alive by letting anyone just come in. After checking you, I've got a couple of questions for you."
Dom then quickly drew his knife and threw it towards Steve, hitting a zombie in the face right behind Steve. "AH! Thats was a nice throw. Took out the zombie real good. Aight sorry about that." Seeimg how freaked out was the man.

He dropped his backpack and tried to avoid meeting the gaze of the creepy-looking twelve-year-old behind the man. "Anyway, I'm keeping my trusty pipe close at hand. Especially if she comes anywhere near me." Steve pointed at the girl behind the man. "Say, what was your name again?"

"I bet I could stab you before you could even hit me with that" Lily spoke up from behind Dominic, letting Dominic know who Steve was referring to related to what Steve had said about keeping his pipe near him, especially if "she" came near him. Now he could easily confirm that it was the little girl that had arrived yesterday who was apparently snooping on them from behind Dominic. At the same time that she had said that, she took out her kitchen knife from its sheath, holding it tightly in front of her, but she didn't move closer to either of the two boys, still far enough away from them that she wasn't really a threat. Still, it didn't exactly help the situation any when said creepy little girl talks about how she could stab you and then takes out a knife.

Camp
Tupper Lake
New York

Theodore woke to the sound of his fellow survivors walking about as the sun rose up and the day got brighter. He crawled out of his makeshift tent of his cloak and a few branches, stood up and stretched as he felt the sun's warmth on his face. He looked around and saw the Middle Eastern man near his own tent, Mooney near the fire, and there seemed to be a stranger speaking with Dominic and the little girl Lily near the edge of the camp. Theodore could see that the stranger had a pipe in his hand which was not strange in times like this, but what was strange was the little girl holding a kitchen knife in front of her pointing at the man. He could see the slight tension on the girl and the stranger's face. Theodore went to his bag, took out his machete, and strode over to the three hoping to defuse the situation before things got out of hand this early in the morning.

"Hello there, young man. I believe that you are seeking safety in such dangerous times. Well, you're welcome to join us after Dominic checks you for bites and other injuries. We hope you don't mind, but it's necessary to keep everyone safe in the camp."said Theodore to the stranger. Turning to Lily, he said,"Lily, I understand that you are able to protect yourself and I respect that, but I need to ask you to put that knife away. We need to help those who need it as we are all humans." After that, Theodore turned away and started walking along the improvised fence and pushing back or cutting down the freaks that were caught or were pushing against it.

Josh-James "Mooney" Graham Moone
Tupper Lake, NY
Five months after outbreak.

Mooney had returned to his tent to fetch a can of that he kept in his ALICE webbing, which was fit with three ammunition pouches, an E-Tool carrier, two canteen pouches, and a buttpack, along with an empty knife sheath on the padding of his suspenders from where his knife should be. He kept most of his own supplies inside the pouches, but the were a few, like the medical supplies, that had given up for the group. He tucked it inside a pocket of his cargo trousers, and swapped his katana for his Barnett RAZR Crossbow, which was fit with a sling, a quiver with four arrows on the bottom of it, and a small scope on the rails on top. He quickly routed through what he needed - some rope, a plastic bag, some fishing line and a can of bait and then his daypack with the rest of his arrows sticking out of it. He then walked back to the camp fire, seeing Dominic clearing part of the fence. He wasn't sure of Dominic - he wasn't sure what gave him the authority to become something of a leader to this group, but was quite impressed of the order that he had made.

He was beginning to walk over to he fire again, but had heard the commotion occurring with the new arrival. "God fucking dammit, I was about to go hunting, and you fucking turn up..." He said to himself, spitting onto the ground. Mooney placed the front of the crossbow to the ground, placing his foot in the stirrup and pulling the bowstring back into the mechanism. Once he had checked the string was firmly locked into the mechanism, he slid an arrow from his bag and placed it in the grove. After switching on the safety, he held the crossbow the crossbow in a non-threating, but still alert stance - close to him, ready to fire, but also pointed down.

"Are we all okay, over there?" He shouted over in an odd mixture of a New York and an English accent, while adjusting his pack with one hand and holding the grip of the crossbow with the other. Lily looked quite determined to do some damage to the man, holding her knife either defensively, or threateningly - he couldn't tell from the distance he was standing. He took a couple of steps forward, Theodore talking to Lily in which Mooney presumably thought was about her body language towards the new man. He edged closer, ready to act if anything happened.

Jesus, man, get a hold of yourself. You're supposed to be a psychopath, remember?

Well, that was what the last poor bastard who tried to jump him said, anyway. And the one before that. And the one before that...
"Well, anyway. My name's Steve. What's yours?" He smiled an oddly fixed smile at the little girl and stood completely still.

"I wasn't gonna actually stab him" Lily said calmly, putting her knife back into its sheath. "I was just playing" She said, also calmly. Her saying that she was just playing probably didn't exactly help matters any, though. She was only jokingly threatening someone with a knife didn't exactly come off very right. And to add on the fact that her words didn't sound entirely convincing made it even worse. It was hard to know if she really meant that or not. And really, she only did on some level. If he DID actually attempt to do anything "off", she would likely stab him, and not even care.

"My name is Lily" Lily said to Steve, saying no more on the subject of greetings than that, but stepping off to the side a bit as more and more of the older people gathered around to see what was going on.

Simon wandered down the streets, unknowingly heading towards the camp. He held the bloody teddybear in his arms as if he were holding a baby, and sang,
"Hush little child, the darkness soon fades.
Hush little child, can you hear them speak?
Hush little child, the dead call your name
They shriek in the night, calling for you.
They feast in the light, hunger for you.

Hush little child, the darkness soon fades.
Hush little child, can you hear them shriek
Hush little child, the dead whisper your name.
There's no need to fear, your pain will soon end.
Be silent, dear, to the grave, soon you will send
Your hands covered with blood, eyes cold and blank
Soon you will feast, among the dead.

Hush little child, the darkness fades
Hush little child, with them you will speak
Hush little child, you whisper their name.
You shriek in the night, calling for them.
You feast in the light, hungering."
His voice rang out, eerie and soft in the cold morning air, clear to hear from the camp as he rocked the teddybear in his arms. When he finished the song, he held the teddybear to him and walked onward, reaching the camp. It was only once he was just outside it that he seemed to realize there were people there, and he placed the teddybear to a pouch on the back of his backpack that he'd made for it, so anyone who saw him from behind would be able to see it. Drawing his sword, he slowly made his way in to the camp, his eyes darting around. His clothes were covered in blood, and clearly he didn't bother to wash it off. His hands were covered in blood as well, but his face was currently clean.
Times are looking grim these days~

Camp, Tupper Lake

Azad was packing his bag to head into town when he heard something that sounded like singing, though he figured that his head was messing with him and continued packing his bag. As he looked around for no real reason a few moments later he spotted the boy who apperantly had walked into the camp unnoticed. Quickly Azad got out of the tent and slowly walked up to the boy. The boy was covered in blood and Azad feared that he might had been bitten. He then spoke up to the kid "Hey there, I'm Azad, who are you?" he said, trying to spot any visable bite marks. The kid had a strange look in his eyes, a look Azad only knew from one other person, the little girl. He wondered if the two where connected somehow. It was like a deep soulless look, a look like it all didn't matter anymore... it was the only way Azad could discribe it. A look he didn't like it was for sure.

Simon looked around, curious about this place, but a bit suspicious, as well. Of course, he wouldn't mind if it was bad. He could use someone to kill about now. When someone approached him, he grinned, but it wasn't a good grin. "Hey! People!" He said, giving a sort of high laugh,"The name's Simon," He said, tossing his sword in the air, then catching it with his other hand, then tossing it around, behind his back and back in to his other hand, before resting the blade on the palm of his free hand. "Looks peaceful here. So very dull," He said, clenching his hand around the blade, blood running down it as it dug in to his palm and fingers, but he didn't seem to care.

Camp
Tupper Lake
New York

Theodore got to his feet and started walking towards Azad and the wild-eyed boy named Simon. Clutching his machete tightly in his hand, he walked nearer to where the boy was standing. Simon had just cut himself with his sword. Theodore stepped up quietly beside Azad and whispered to him, "This boy may become a strain on our supplies. If he is prone to hurting himself as he just did, we may not have much medicinal equipment to spare. Surely we must make a deal with him on behavioral terms, for example, if we accept him into the camp he must agree to stop harming himself. What do you think?"

Camp, Tupper Lake

Azad turned to Theodore, "I agree, we better get some supplies in the town today, making sure we can cover ourselves for the coming few weeks."
Azad then stared back at the kid named Simon, "an odd kid" he thought... "Well met Simon" he said as he continued to investigate. "It sure is peacefull out here" he continued as he looked around a bit. "Are you looking for a place to stay?" he asked as he walked to the side of Simon, "Just investigating for bitemarks, no worries".
Azad didn't noticed any bite marks as he had walked around the kid, "You should really get a bath, and some help for your hand" Azad continued, hoping that the kid would be of use.

Lily turned her head towards the singing that began, and watched some crazy singing man covered in blood approach and start talking about his name and how it being peaceful here was dull. She had to agree sometimes. It being so peaceful all the time did get a bit dull. of course, there were always the infected at the edges of the place, which made you nervous a lot, but overall it tended to be quite dull and boring here after a while. She felt that at least when she was alone, things sometimes happened, and she had to run away, or that there were things to do in the forest. Here it just seemed like they sat around a lot, which left her a lot of room to think, and her mind having a lot of room to think tended to not exactly be a good thing, considering all the things her parents had her do to keep her mind occupied.

As the man cut his own hand with his sword, Lily watched, staring intently and seriously like always. She watched as the blood dripped from the mans hand towards the ground, or off the blade itself onto the ground. She didn't seem to have anything to say about the fact the man cut himself like that, and instead just watched the blood dripping from him like it was something intriguing. In fact, she said nothing at all, just watching from the sidelines as all the adults gathered around to talk to this new arrival, letting them do their thing.

Josh-James "Mooney" Graham Moone
Tupper Lake, NY
Five months after outbreak

Mooney had assumed everything was okay at the fence, and began to head the forest. He spotted Azad packing up for scavenging the village, and he decided that it would be a much more efficient means of energy to join him - chances are, Azad had already checked the traps yesterday, and that any game wouldn't be in there for a while. He walked up to Azad as he was talking to Simon, and Theodore had also chimed in as the young man began to bleed. "You can't just get someone to stop cutting themselves. It doesn't work like that. People cut themselves because it's something they can control - if they're careful and smart about it, you might not ever know that someone cuts themselves." He replied to Theodore. "I've seen this sort of thing before. I even tried it when I was a teenager. It took me months of regulated structure to stop, and there's no guarantee that he'll stop outright.

It was a dark time for Mooney as a teenager. Schizophrenia was something that he didn't react well too - the paranoia of voices in his head had cause him to start cutting himself, and even try to commit suicide in his late twenties. The only thing that got him through both of those blips in his life was actually listening to the voices in his head and prepare for the impending doom that was the apocalypse. "We can try and keep anything sharp away from him, but that'll just make him want to cut even more, and he won't be able to defend himself from any of those dead fucks."

"'Well met'? 'Well met'.....What the hell does that even mean?" Simon asked, tilting his head like he was seriously thinking about it. "Peaceful means boring," He said, then shook his head and shrugged,"No, but I might try it out for a bit." He seemed like a cheery person, but not in a particularly good way. Other than cutting himself, he hadn't really specifically done anything bad, he just seemed....off. "I'm not bit, if that's what you're wondering," He said, giggling,"Do I look like I'm bit to you?" He put his hands in the air and did a spin, his sword getting alarming close to Azad when he lowered his arms while still finishing his spin," Wooops," He said, before giggling again. "I've never understood people's determination to find bites. Seriously. The person's going to act deathly sick and die before they turn, and I'd think someone might notice that." He looked almost insulted when Azad said he needed a bath. "I don't need a bath," He scoffed.

He peered behind Azad to where Lily was standing. Noticing what she was watching, he wiped his bloody hand on his word, then licked blood off his hand, before wiping his face. The last part seemed like almost a polite gesture, so he wasn't running around camp with a blood-covered face.

He looked at Mooney, then blinked, "I seriously have no idea what you're blabbering about, but just because you issues doesn't mean the same applies to me. I like blood, I like pain, I don't give a shit about 'something I can control'. Pain shows that you're alive, and blood, well," He gave a crooked grin, but his eyes narrowed at the same time, making it creepy as hell,"Blood is just fascinating." The smile immediately faded and his face just turned dark when Mooney mentioned taking any sharp object away from him, "Go ahead and try!" He snapped his sword and it separated, becoming a whip, and he gave a grin even creepier than his last,"And you can join those dead fucks."

After Simon's rant on blood and death and pain, Theodore decided that there was no hope for this crazy boy. Ignoring his rant, he turned to Azad. "Can I join you on your scavenging trip to the town?I had seen a library as I trekked across town before I reached here. They may have guides or books on how to calm such people down." Theodore turned and walked back to his tent, picked up his bag and cloak and walked back to where Azad and Mooney were standing at.
