ATL QUOTES

"...the Venezuelans are very good at this sort of thing. I'm speaking to you from behind a pair of fake Ray-Bans, wearing a fake Armani jacket, carrying a fake Louis Vuitton bag, in which we find a fake iPad and a fake iPhone. And if we consult my fake Omega watch, we see that it's 2:35, probably, which means that it's time to pop into the fake Starbucks over there for a cup of fake coffee. It seems, then, that the expression 'copyright infringement' doesn't translate very well into Venezuelan Spanish."
- Jeremy Clarkson, host of the British TV show Top Gear

OTL, this quote was said(in a slightly different state) by Clarkson in an episode in China. Seeing that ATL Venezuela has no recognition of any international copyright law, it makes more sense for the stereotype about shitty bootleg products and the quote to be applied to Venezuela.

Truly, whatever you did for one of the least of my brothers and sisters, you did for me."

The CSA views the Guyanese as more of a minor nuisance, like a less despotic but more self-righteous Caucasia.

Lots of famous people born in Brooklyn. Oh, this is going to be delightfully fun. I take it back, Mickey Rooney won't be loathed for Breakfast at Tiffany's... because he's going to be Japanese-born... so we'd just go "OH YOU."

Germany got it's ass beaten by Czechs, Hungarians and Danes, and Canada got nearly overran by Quebecois and Confederates. He's implying that if the two went to war, France, who is known for also backing out of wars like a pussy, would win.

Not necessarily revolutions(well, Germany will have the 1910s rebellions, and that DDR idea is still a possibility, and there will be a rebellion in Russia where the communists play a role), but communism would be far more prominent in those countries than in RL(the only exemption being Russia). Also, because communism isn't as stigmatized in the CSA as ATL, we all get to point and laugh at Joseph McCarthy as the CSA realizes immediately that he's a lunatic.

And all because of one writer? Ruri, this timeline has plenty of leftist writers or the potential for such.

Is it really that important to you that I retcon Trotsky being a Zionist leader and the author of Animal Farm? Because it screws up several things in the plotlines I've created, and unless you really really really want him, I don't want to fuck all this up.

I think there's an explanation on the TVTropes page, actually.

Ruri I'm sure that the Zionist leader can go to a Russian, as I'm sure there are several prominent Russian Jews.

And you could just give Animal farm to a von licht.

"The von Lichts almost always adopt local names when they show up in a new country. Fon Likht, Light, Fengliguoda, de Lict, af Lys, Martali..."

That's still weird, the Eichemann family only changed names once, when Ferdinand fled Rum for an internal exile, and they kept the name all the way into the 21st century. :P
