Silver took a second to try to process everything Marran said, honestly unsure of how to respond. "...We'd better get to the terminals early. The lines will likely be even longer than before." she replied, moving toward the mess hall. "Until then, we should eat something. Maybe Bentu already has a table."

Silver shrugged. "I guess. Not like there's anything to do around here yet." she said. "And that announcement - it must be pretty important if they're canceling everything after registration."
She trotted a short ways to the nearest storage crate and leaned against its wall, allowing more space for passing refugees. "I wonder if there's a library on this hunk of junk..." she thought aloud. "I miss my books."

Especially if they lived centuries upon centuries ago, in the time of kings and castles and big, strong knights that were humble, but still had a real sense of pride and valor..." she rambled, her cheeks turning pink as she stared into nothingness.
There was a pause as her senses caught up to her. She straightened her neck with a huff, regaining her composure. "My apologies. Got a little carried away." she said. "And yes, I am aware of the digitization of ink and paper books that seemed to be sweeping across every nation on Cereis. I understand why it was happening, but I do prefer physical copies. There's something more satisfying about them."

"I would agree with you on that point." said Bentu as he walked up to join them. He had finished his shower a while ago and had decided to once again get out and among the public. In part it was to escape the paper work; the other was to how his "friends" were doing specifically a certain Marran Varri. So after finishing with the day to day necessities he had set out to find them. "So, anyway what jobs do y'all plan on signing up for?" he asked.
The Floor Kippers wrote:"It seems we three are agreed," Jonathan said, fighting through the masses to join them, "Physical cookbooks are far more useful than digital ones, the ability to jot things down in the margins for example, is invaluable for a good cook."
"Morning all," He than added, before continuing, "I have the same policy for pets. Nothing compares to the real thing, the only problem is immigration doesn't let you take real pets off world the way they do books."

"Oh. Bentu. Hello." Silver said, a little surprised. She didn't expect him to find them so easily, but then again, he does seem to have access to information that others don't. She supposed that he could have simply looked through a database or something to find where they lived.
"No idea. I hope I can find something similar to my old job, but I doubt that'll happen."The Floor Kippers wrote:"It seems we three are agreed," Jonathan said, fighting through the masses to join them, "Physical cookbooks are far more useful than digital ones, the ability to jot things down in the margins for example, is invaluable for a good cook."

Silver was even more shocked to see Jonathan join them as well. "Good morning."
Something fishy is going on here...Orangi wrote:"...Wait. We just met yesterday. Did we all just so happen to end up in the same district by chance or what?"
"I was thinking the same thing," Silver stated, "This is too strange to be a coincidence."
She shifted uncomfortably, looking around the massive hangar. "This place gives me the creeps. I feel like I'm always being watched."

Ceffyltir wrote:"There'd better not be any cameras in my living quarters, at least." Silver replied, becoming visibly frustrated. Being monitored while in public was one thing, but to her, having no safe haven from peeping eyes may be the ultimate invasion of freedom. "I'll tear them down myself if I have to. It'd be worth having military police breathing down my neck."

We don't have the staff to monitor the rooms- at full capacity, that'd be 800 crewmen each watching 18 cameras, 24/7. With shifts that'd be about 2400. With the crew size on this ship that'd be nearly 10% of the crew watching a bunch of unarmed and unequipped civilians. Gross misallocation of resources. Two pairs of officers per patrol in each district is a lot smarter and gives you guys more privacy. And yeah, I recited answering that question- I knew I'd get it a lot. Just wanted to allay a concern of yours, ma'am." The officer said. it was Connor again. Marran was impressed with how she'd gotten ready for this.
"We arebeing watched though, outside?" Marran asked.
"You bet your fuzzy rear, sir. Can't tell you where or how but there's eyes in public. We're not into invasion of privacy though- and you know, you are guests on our ship. It's like having a friend come over who can be unpredictable, namely in breaking your toilet and eating all of your chips. And not necessarily in that order, either. But he's a friend so you only keep an eye on him and give him a stern warning."
Marran nodded in understanding. It was a fairly understandable concept.
"Might want to head to the mess. It's a decent walk and they're probably sorting everything out. Line won't be huge, I don't think."

He was silent for a moment, looking down at his meal before suddenly looking up to Marran.
"Listen," Jonathan started, toying with a rasher of bacon as he spoke, "Marran, I just want to apologize for being too....probing, yesterday. I realise now that it's still to early for those sorts of inquiries, and I imagine reacting similarly in your position. So, I'm sorry, for being such a nosy bugger."

"M'used to it." Marran said as he chowed down on this bacon stuff. He didn't realize how much of it he'd already eaten.
He assumed it was good.
"What do you guys think?" Marran said, eyes shifting to Bentu "I bet you like lifting weights." He grinned.

Bentu chuckled. "You would be surprised what you pick up and do in my line of work," He replied. He looked down at his plate. It consisted of green tube noddles and a mushrooms in a thickish white/green sauce.
"You would also be surprised of the things I can get since I am technically not under this ships government's jurisdiction." he said with a grin.

"Aaah-aaah. Hold up there's a caveat to that Bentu. You may not be under its jurisdiction, but you are inside of it so you go through their channels and checkpoints, I bet." Marran replied, taking a bite out of the biscuit on his plate. "I mean c'mon, you just said that in the caf, where there are definitely some cameras laying about. You're just messin' with me."
