Following the fall of Rome and the subsequent dark ages Germanic people were scattered across central Europe in small villages which by the renaissance had become feuding city-states. With the unification of the Prussian empire in 1705 South German and Austrian city-states grew fearful that their autonomy would be threatened by the somewhat foreign north Germans and ethnic Poles. A conference of lords and nobles from Munich, Augsburg, Freiburg, Salzburg, Graz and Klagenfurt held a tribunal in Vienna in 1707 where they drafted a constitution and ran a month-long campaign intended to inspire nationalistic fervor in the serfs/lesser lords. While originally being somewhat liberal in its theoretical form the local economies were simply not strong or diverse enough to permit elements of early capitalism such as what were being implemented in other empires, in addition literacy was not a realistic possibility for 78% of the population thus even the most conservative of constitutional monarchies could not survive.

Amid the chaos that enveloped the city-states a young black haired and ambitious lord by the name of Friedhelm von Bregenz who was invited to the Vienna conference had won the allegiance of a few representatives of neighboring city-states by intimidating them with Bregenz's military might; together they marched an army of 8,000 on Vienna and had every pro-enlightenment representative lined up and shot in the city square claiming that "These men were agents of the devil intent on allowing the Prussians to rape our women, murder our children and pillage our land... We have done the Church a great service in purging this filth before their plans could be enacted but this was only the beginning of our righteous war against evil." Austrio-Germany now had the markings of a real nation...a small army, an unfinished constitution, religious gusto and soon....A king. Friedhelm von Bregenz recruited the survivors of the Vienna conference as his council as couriers were dispatched throughout the land proclaiming the establishment of an Austro-Germanic Reich. With his quick wits and booming voice the ancient city of Vienna instantly fell under his spell. Several Dukes were hesitant to pledge fealty to their new king but the army of 8,000 had only grown in the weeks since storming the national assembly and they weren't afraid to flex their muscle.

Over the coarse of several years all south German and Austrian city-states had been annexed by Friedhelm von Bregenz, his cronies and their army which began a restructuring of micro-economics replacing lords and vassals with state appointed agriculture officials under whom life as a Germanic peasant was considerably less harsh due to the state's new discriminatory policies towards Jews and Slavs placing more on them and less on the rest. Obviously the term "social mobility" still held no meaning but nevertheless King Friedhelm had earned the respect of his nation's peasants and had disposed of most of its lords. Following several above average harvests as the king entered his 30th year of life the nation's military had also undergone some improvements. Rather than a hoard of men with guns blindly carrying out the orders of their respective lords all men ages 12-30 were required to swear an oath of fealty and attend military training exercises on a bi-monthly basis (this of coarse was funded by the deposed lords). It had become increasingly clear though that Austro-Germany lacked the natural resources to produce cannons, muskets or swords which were vital to a nation's defense. After earning the respect of the Vatican by doing away with "Prussian satanists" the Italian empire was more than happy to support a developing economy which shared in their religious beliefs thus with that there was now a well-fed, well-trained and well-armed military under the command of a single man.

A series of campaigns were waged east of the kingdom in which ethnic hatred and desire for natural resources caused nation after nation to collapse at Friedhelm's feet. Following the sacking of Budapest in 1740 and the subsequent enslavement of its local population the 38 year old king Friedhelm von Bregenz declared himself Gekröntkaiser (holy emperor) of greater Austro-Germany and vowed that no threat foreign or domestic would threaten him or his people. The following years witnessed brutal fighting in the newly annexed regions of the empire mostly spurred on by rebellious slaves who resented the ball and chain and instead took to fighting for national liberation. Doubtlessly the Russians were unhappy with the enslavement of its Slavic brethren but before Gekröntkaiser Friedhelm could ever discuss it or justify his action he died at the age of 43 in 1745 from a stroke.

That left the 21 year old Gekröntkaiser Friedhelm II to usurp the throne and protect his people from its hostile neighbors. Unlike his father, Friedhelm II is a cold calculative man of the new age who is in favor of avoiding a conventional war and simply wants to deal with the domestic strife. The issue of Slavic rebellion has been fluid for the last 25 years and relations with Russia are now at an all time low as a result of this. Meanwhile the population remains fearful of the protestant Prussians to the north and their expansive empire that now has holdings on multiple continents. Being land-locked and surrounded by enemies doesn't sound like an ideal situation for a relatively young empire but Friedhelm II intends to do everything in his power to ensure its survival before passing the crown down to Friedhelm III.

Ah interesting, a Finish dominated typically Sweden.

For that reason, I'm not sure how we'd view each other. I mean since you aren't Sweden and are Finland (I think) you probably won't care about the fact that we own all of Southern Sweden as much as actual Sweden would.

So we can possibly be nice neighbors maybe.

Yup. Just don't mess with Homeland Finland. There is a reason the Soviets list 80,000 troops trying to Conquer Finland. The reasons: 1. Finland literally has some of the best snipers in the world, and 2.Winters harsher then any other country in Scandinavia.

As for myself, I will be that purple blob in Tibet, a reclusive order of monks who secretly run the world (a la, make rulings and random posts about events and RP as NPC/inactive nations when necessary).

History:

In 1411, at the end of the Polish–Lithuanian–Teutonic War, the Teutonic Order had crumbled. It had lost Marienburg after the Siege of Marienburg in 1410, and was forced to sue for peace. In the treaty, Poland-Lithuania forced the Teutonic Order to reform. It became the Duchy of the Teutons, and until 1415 was tied to the Crown of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. It was, however, separated from the Commonwealth after it was inherited by the Frederick I of Brandenburg due to the untimely death of the Teutonic Duke. Frederick, eager to be more than a mere elector of the Holy Roman Empire, declared the Electorate of Brandenburg to have been promoted into a Kingdom, and sought Papal Approval. After the Pope's refusal to grant Frederick King status, there was outrage in Brandenburg. Frederick, in his anger, declared war on the Duchy of Pomerania, whom had been a longstanding enemy of Brandenburg. He quickly won the war, however due to the vast majority of the army being in Pomerania, an uprising started in Estonia, and spread to the vast majority of the Baltic. They declared independence from Brandenburg, much to the anger of Frederick. He sent his half of his army to deal with the rebels, to no avail. While they were pushed back, they were guaranteed support from Sweden and therefore Frederick was forced to pull back and lick his wounds. Frederick, seeking compensation for his loss of the Northern Baltic, declared war on Mecklenburg. The Holy Roman Emperor was displeased, however was powerless to stop Frederick due to his being involved in his own war. Mecklenburg soon fell, and Frederick sat back and relaxed.

In 1440, Frederick I passed away, with Frederick II taking his place as King of Brandenburg. The recent death of the Bohemian King would also prove advantageous to Brandenburg. The Czech nobility did not recognize the successor as valid, and this is where Frederick took advantage. He lured the rulers of Bohemia - the Landfriedens - to Brandenburg, with promises of gold and power. In 1445, Frederick II of Brandenburg marched his army into Prague, and declared the Kingdoms of Brandenburg and Bohemia to be united under Frederick II, who had 'restored order' to the anarchy-ridden Kingdom of Bohemia. The Bohemian nobility, eager to share in Brandenburg's riches, were more than happy to play along. Frederick declared the Dual Monarchy of Brandenburg-Bohemia, instating himself as both King of Brandenburg and King of Bohemia. Frederick had a policy of benign neglect towards Bohemia, and the nobility were fine with this; so long as Frederick kept up his promise of lands and riches. In order to fulfill this promise, in 1446 Frederick lead his army towards the Brunswick, which he had a claim against. In a swift war, Frederick provided his military capability in defeating both Brunswick and Hanseatic Mercenaries. Frederick declared the Duchy of Brunswick to be part of the Dual Monarchy, and divided the land in Brunswick among the Bohemian Landfriedens.

Frederick II was, however, only human, and in 1471 he passed the throne onto Albert III Achilles. His reign was relatively unimportant, and in 1486 he passed the throne onto John Cicero, who decreed that the Stadtschloss in Berlin, erected at the behest of his uncle Frederick II, should serve as the permanent residence of the Brandenburg electors, thus beginning the city's history as a state capital. His reign was, also relatively unimportant other than a short ban on alcohol along with the expansion of the military. In 1499, the throne was passed on to Joachim I Nestor, who added, in 1514, the Prince-Archbishopric-Electorate of Mainz to the growing collection of Brandenburgian possessions, along with the Free City of Frankfurt who was annexed after the long Siege of Frankfurt. He also saw the rise of the New World in politics, and oversaw the 1531 Berlin Expedition, which established the failed settlement of Joachimstadt in the later-colony of Königs-Halbinsel. In 1535 the throne passed to Joachim II Hector, who inherited Saxony in 1536 and added it to the Kingdom of Brandenburg. He become a Protestant, and marked Brandenburg's turn towards the Protestant Reformation. He was succeeded by John George and then Joachim Frederick in 1571 and 1598 respectively. In 1608, John Sigismund become King and lead Brandenburg in the Hanseatic Wars, which had the Dual-Monarchy of Brandenburg-Bohemia face off against the Free Cities of Lubeck, Hamburg and Bremen, along with Holstein and Saxe-Lauenburg, with aid from Danish armies. The Free Cities fell by 1610, as did Holstein and Saxe-Lauenburg, all of which were annexed into Brandenburg-Bohemia. John also oversaw the establishment of the settlement of Neu Frankfurt and the colony of the same name. John Sigismund passed away in 1619, leaving George William to pick up the pieces in a war-torn country. George was forced to fight in the Thirty Year's War, in which he fought for the Protestant cause. The Electoral Palatinate also, peacefully, was annexed into the Realm during his reign, after the death of their leadership during the Thirty Year's War and the subsequent perceived heroism of George William. He passed away in 1640, with Frederick William taking his place. The colonies in the New World had expanded, with a new settlement at Joachimstadt, which became known as Königstadt, being founded, along with the expansion of Neu Frankfurt. Further settlements, such as Neustadt in Friedrichsland, were also established.

After the death of Frederick William in 1688, Frederick III of Brandenburg took his place. The colonies in the New World had become known as 'Das Neues Reiches' or 'the New Realms'. They had grown, and mostly encompassed their coast of the current time. Kuba and Reichhafen had also been acquired after a skirmish with Spain, with the Spanish population being relatively quickly replaced with German-speaking immigrants. Frederick also oversaw the establishment of the Kapkolonie, in order to enable easier trade with the Orient. Frederick William also oversaw more mainland expansion. In 1705, he established the Kingdom of Prussia. He created a Parliament in Berlin, modeled on similar ones in Europe, and created the title of Chancellor, while also limiting his own powers with the writing of a Constitution. For this, he became known as Frederick 'the Just'. In 1713, he passed away, passing his throne onto Frederick William I of Prussia. Frederick oversaw the expansion of the New World colonies, along with the acquisition of Vontasmanischeland and the expansion of the Indien territory. He declared the Prussian Confederation in 1720, in an attempt to lower militancy in - mainly - Bohemia and the Baltics. This confederation delegated power to various states, called 'Reichsprovinz', within it. He further reduced the power of the now Kaiser, and made the Landtag a more democratic institution. He was known as Frederick William 'the Glorious'. In 1740, Frederick II took position as Kaiser.

Military (Army): 213,090 in the Heimatarmee. 10,666 in the Kolonialarmee. 3,000 in the Kapkoloniewache. 2,000 in the Westafrikawache. 1,000 in the Vontasmanischelandwache. All armies use a ratio of 5:3:1 where Linesmen:Cavalry:Cannon. Grenadiers, Early Riflemen and Skirmishers are also deployed, but generally at a 0.25 ratio. Colonial and Native militia are also employed in the Kolonialarmee, along with the Westafrikawache, Kapkoloniewache and Vontasmanischelandwache, with a high ratio of 1-3.
Military (Navy): 5,000 manning 106 ships of the line in the Kriegsmarine. 1,300 manning 27 ships of the line in the Kolonialmarine. 2,100 manning 44 ships of the line in the Weltweitenmarine.
Economy: The economy is that of a capitalistic nature. The Enlightenment allowed private ownership of property, and completely ended serfdom and negated slavery within the Confederation. There is little in the way of state control, however the government takes an interventionist and protectionist policy in regards to the economy and trade respectively. The Aristocracy still holds power, but the Kaiser and Landtag hold more power individuality than the entire Aristocracy combined. The Aristocracy and Monarch are seen as separated.
Weaknesses: The Confederation is extremely divided. Romuvans in Litauen are constantly involved in small uprisings, even after their 400+ years of occupation. The Bohemians are not trusting of the other Germans, and though are seen as German by the Prussians, do not consider themselves to fully be so. The Poles in ethically-Polish areas are chaffing under Prussian rule, and the colonies grow tired of their lack of representation in the Landtag. The Latinos in Kuba and Reichhafen grow weary of the increasing German immigration, and the natives of both Westafrika and Kapkolonie are eager to escape Prussian rule.

In 1549, the Iberian Missionary Francis Xavier began talks with the Otomo Daimyo, he brought with him the teachings of Catholicism, which the Daiymo and his people adopted and powerful weapons not seen before; firearms. With these new weapons, the Otomo found power. Armies of steel and sword would fall like flies to the disciplined "Samurai Gunmen" who were known as "Firewielders" by their enemies. One by one the Japanese Clans fell to Otomo rule and by 1568 war had erupted between the Shogun and the Otomo. It was a long and tiresome war, with Otomo incursions into Northern Japan to cut away at the ribs of the Shogunate, making the way to the heart easier. By 1571 the Shogunate had fallen, Japan was now ruled by the Otomo and the Japanese Empire was born. Soon, despite immense religious strife and rebellions, Japan had been converted to the Catholic ways of the Otomo. Several Englishmen arrived in 1601, but they were greeted warmly and allowed to preach to the populace. Only a few families changed their faith, their descendants all living alongside their Catholic brethren in the city of Nagasaki.

With new technology at their fingertips and able to compete with Europeans, the Japanese invaded the Korean Peninsula, Hainan, Manchuria and Beijing. 1601, 1613, 1685 and 1694 respectively. After and extensive rearmament of the navy and armed forces the Japanese Empire took her zealous warmongering ways to the Mongolians and began a conquest of their outmost provinces. Eventually, in 1754 the Japanese grew tired of conflict and made peace with all her neighbours focusing on colonial endeavours and managed to successfully colonise Northern Borneo and Alaska in the name of the Japanese Empire. Now the Empire sits in a divided position, watching the Chinese and Europeans eagerly, awaiting to make a move of their own. It watches its own Empire attentively, awaiting for either the Chinese of Manchu's to rise up, atleast the more fanatical ones; but the Empire would be ready. I can flesh it out more if need be.

Military (Army):

The Imperial Army is an incredibly well equipped, trained and drilled military force that is on par with any European Power. It consists of 350,000 men and is divided into the following.

The Imperial Infantry: A force of 300,000 men. This 300,000 is further broken into a following 3 100,000 groups.
These 100,000 men groups contain 80,000 Line Infantrymen who are split into regiments of 160 Men, equalling 500 Regiments in each Group.
15,000 men are light infantry/skirmishers who are placed into Regiments of 120 men, equalling 125 Regiments in the group.
5,000 are trained field medics, engineers and so forth.

The Imperial Cavalry: 45,000 men form the Imperial Cavalry which is broken down into the following groups.
15,000 men form the Samurai Cavalry, fulfilling the position of a Cuirassier. Broken into 50 men per Regiment. 300 Regiments
10,000 men form the Blunderbuss Cavalry; armoured men who ride atop unarmoured horses and attack the enemy with their blunderbusses in flanking attacks before retreating a safe distance. Broken into 50 men per Regiment. 200 Regiments

The Imperial Japanese Navy is a central part of the Japanese Armed Forces. Ever since the interaction with Europeans, the ships in the IJN have been kept to match their European Counterparts in style, function and weaponry to make sure they are not kept behind in the world stage. Manned by hardy crew and brilliant captains and admirals the IJN is truly an effective fighting force.

It is split into two fleets, the larger Home Fleet which consists of many Heavy Ships, alongside smaller frigates, brigs etc. This fleet is incredibly well funded by the Empire and is used to defend the local coasts of the Empire that are in a reasonable distance but can be used to stage naval invasions with ease.

The Distant Shores Fleet is used mainly to protect Hainan and raid enemy shipping lanes. It consists of much faster vessels but there are still capital ships in certain key ports. It is also well funded by the Empire, but not on the scale of the Home Fleet. It is based in Hainan.

Economy: Largely trading and agrarian based with rising industries of the era. Imports a large amount of luxury goods from the Mughals. Exports iron, coal, weaponry, foodstuffs, gems, spices etc.
Weaknesses: Large ethnic diversity within the Empire, her colonial possessions are in rather unforgiving climates and her army is smaller than most of her neighbours.

Also, in regards to the Japanese Uniform:
The Japanese Line Infantry are equipped with a deep purple uniform, Light Infantry are Green and Marines are Blue. They all don Ashigaru Helmets instead of the typical tri-corner hats and such of the era.
Officers, Captains, Generals, Admirals etc all wear Samurai Armour.

Yup. Just don't mess with Homeland Finland. There is a reason the Soviets list 80,000 troops trying to Conquer Finland. The reasons: 1. Finland literally has some of the best snipers in the world, and 2.Winters harsher then any other country in Scandinavia.

Snipers aren't really a thing yet, though

There are some areas that are very small; to make things fun, I've made them NPCs. They may not be idly invaded -- they are not empty space for you to conquer (actually, that goes for all empty space, really) -- they will call upon their neighbors for help, and they will fight you, etc, etc, etc.

As for myself, I will be that purple blob in Tibet, a reclusive order of monks who secretly run the world (a la, make rulings and random posts about events and RP as NPC/inactive nations when necessary).

Hence the fighting style of the era. Training only improves reloading time, morale and ability to fire on orders/with comrades.

Lapps and Suomi have lived side by side, for centuries uncounted, with barely any conflict. There were several Peaceful trading states in Finland, some Lapp dominated, some Suomi dominated, up until 300 years ago. It was then that a young and brilliant Lapp Warlord, Karv Mavvarheim, turned his State to War. Due to having the Element of Suprise, and being prepared, he soon owned all of Northern Finland, and turned his eyed to the South, where many Suomi states were. Having heard of his exploits, some gave up before he even reached their gates. Those were the ones that were spared. However, many Suomi lords formed a Coalition to fight him, uniting the Suomi for the first time. They easily pushed him out of the lands of the Suomi, but their mistake came when they invaded the land of the Lapps. Facing fierce and unrelenting Winter, Guerrillas, and Harrasing attacks from Karv's army, their Almost Entirely Suomi army was nearly destroyed. Then began Karv's second, more successful invasion of the Suomi. He soon conquered nearly all of them, with a few of them becoming his Vassal States, retaining a Semblance of Independence, but serving him as well as any. He turned his eye to the West, where people calling themselves the 'Swedes' lived. His combination of great supply lines, proper Training, and lightning fast attacks soon brought the East of this Land under his control. Then, he died. He was succeeded by his Loyal Lieutenant, Sarhe Luuko, creating the Sarhe Dynasty, the Dynasty that rules to this day. 200 years after Karv's death, 100 years before now, The Lapps began expanding yet again. They found new land, setting up several tiny colonies on the Coast of this new land, which they called Aavikko. They also found several tiny Islands to the Far West, calling them the Suomi Western Lands, noting their majority Modern Day Suomi populace, And set up a few small Towns on them, sending some Crewmen off to tell the Homeland. Over in Aavikko, due to an inpouring of Government Money, Infrastructure and living conditions in proved considerably. Natives of both the Suomi Western Lands, and of Aaviko, were treated as equals and were allowed to live side by side the Suomi and Lapps, so long as they didn't cause trouble or commit crimes. This way of treating the Natives has continued to this day, and a few can even be found working over in the Imperial Homeland.

Having Total Control of the Gulf of Bothnia, T.H.K.L.S. Is mainly a trading nation. Most of it's money comes from the Glass Making Industry, with Secondary industries being the Steel and Wood industries. They fund their African colonization through the Selling of Glass, they maintain order through it's money, and it is therefore considered the heart of the Imperial economy. However, this also means that if somebody were to attack their Glass shipping, they would be nearly bankrupt, so most big sales are carefully guarded by the Imperial Navy.
