Unlike the Shogun of Niihau, the Takahashi Daimyo(who controls something like four myoden- duchies, literally private land) could actually usurp the Empire of Japan if he wanted to. Now, Takahashi Masahige in Umbra Spherae is far too loyal to Emperor Go-Sanjo to rebel. His son Takahashi Hikaru, now he might turn out differently.

Queen Charlotte Amalienshavn told the press that German troops have "invaded" the Kingdom of Denmark after being denied entry to the country a few days ago, seizing the city of Aabenraa before being halted by the Danish military. Over 2,600 people are presently infected in West Africa, with over 1,400 having been killed by the disease this outbreak. A pair of doctors from America and Canada has reportedly been 'cured' by an experimental treatment; however, this treatment has not been sent to the infected countries. In addition, I was appointed spymaster, cupbearer, and sessho(regent) for the Emperor Iwakura when he was nine. And I managed to get Iwakura rendered incapable, meaning that he will require a regent his entire life. This means that I am, for all intents and purposes, a ruler of the Japanese Empire who is not the emperor- a seii taishogun. If I wanted to declare myself Emperor, there is next to nothing stopping me but an incapable young adult and the few hundred peasants he can call forth. From there, it is likely that Hokkaido, Sakhalin, Korea, the Ryukys, and Taiwan would be swept up by their powerful island neighbor. For now, though, sessho, spymaster, cupbearer, and shogun Taishokuka Iemitsu pledges allegiance to Emperor Yamato Iwakura. For now.

And 'for now' is about to end.

1979 Rose Revolution

Date: May 9, 1979 - February 11, 1981
Location: Empire of Japan
Cause:

Anti-democratic policies of the National Liberal Party from 1976 to 1979.
Public Order Law #1-A (Outlawing of marijuana)
Act Against Possibly Seditious Materials ("Book of Juche" is banned from circulation)
Mass closures of Tokyo and Korean coffee shops and video arcades (primary congregation places of Juche philosophical circles)
1979 Yokohama Raid

Goals:

Unban marijuana, unban the Book of Juche, and force the resignation of the National Liberal government, put Alexander Satō and Masayoshi Ōhira on trial for violating the Constitution of Japan and suppressing free speech.

Methods:

Demonstrations, general strikes, civil resistance, rioting in Korea, blockading buildings such as Universities and offices, sit-ins

Results:

1979 Yokohama Raid

The 1979 Yokohama Raid was conducted on May 7, 1979 by officers of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police under the direction of the Kenpeitai (憲兵隊), Japan's intelligence agency. In the early hours of May 7th, The officers raided an apartment on the campus of the University of Yokohama and arrested 27 students for sedition after discovering they were in possession of the Book of Juche and actively discussing Juche philosophy in violation of a law passed a few months prior. Several of the students were beaten viciously by police, and most of the altercation was caught on tape from an apartment across the street. This lead into the forced closure of all universities in the Tokyo Metropolitan Area shortly afterwards, on May 8.

On Armistice Day, May 9, protests broke out by Japanese students against the closures, calling for the removal of the government. The police violently suppressed the protests and cancelled Armistice Day celebrations, declaring the city of Tokyo under martial law.

The raid is considered the largest reason for the 1979 Rose Revolution.

1979 National Liberal coup d'etat

Date: May 11, 1979 - December 26, 1979

The coup d'etat began 48 hours after the start of the Rose Revolution, and the suppression of the Armistice Day celebrations. After declaring martial law, the Kenpeitai and National Liberals, knowing that Empress Akane was a believer of the Juche ideology, formally detained her in the Imperial Palace. In June 1979, after many people were demanding the Empress dismiss the reigning government, the Kenpeitai declared that the Empress had been declared "unfit to rule" and was now placed under a regency under Director of the Kenpeitai, Nobu Hamasaki. This triggered an angry uprising of loyalists as they declared that even if the Empress was unfit, the regency should be headed by her father, Emperor Alexander II, or another member of the imperial family.

The situation boiled over in September as the Kenpeitai announced the dissolution of the Constitution and the assumption of absolute power by the Kenpeitai's police forces. The military declared a state of martial law in the entire Empire and press began to scream that the Kenpeitai were perpetrating another 2/26 Incident. The ensuing military action lasted until December 1979, when Juche rebels stormed the palace. Empress Akane stole the pistol off of one of her guards and killed the two Kenpeitai guards detaining her in her quarters, and marched with the thousands of rebels and the military to the Senate. Whence she arrived, she declared all sitting Senators detained, and formally announced the dissolution of the government and cabinet, and their immediate arrest, effective January 1, 1980. She also executed the Director of the Kenpaitei on public television shortly afterwards, after the Civilian Army stormed the NHK Headquarters.

During this, Kim Il-sung mobilized the Korean People's Army for the first time since the 1960s and declared that the Korean Peninsula was loyal only to the Empress and the Imperial Japanese military, not to the Kenpeitai's illegitimate regime, and declared that "Seoul and Pyongyang would fight for Her Majesty's liberty, and the liberty of our people!"

From December 26 to January 1, the military assumed all government responsibilities from the civil leadership, and this remained so until Kim Jong-il's establishment as Chancellor in 1981.

1959 Lengshui Putsch
Date: April 21-May 7, 1959
Location: Empire of China
Result: Failure of coup

The Lengshui Putsch (Chinese: 冷水政變, Lěngshuǐ zhèngbiàn, Swahili: 內羅畢 嗎聘度字, Nairobi mapinduzi) was an attempted coup d'etat against Prime Minister Jomo Kenyatta and Empress Catherine II by four generals from Lengshui (present day Nairobi, Kenya). The perpetrators, General Chen Yun (陳雲), General Tan Zhelin (譚震林), General Sha Wenhan (沙文漢) and General Chen Yi (陈毅) organized the putsch and it occurred between April 21 and May 7, 1959.

The organisers of the putsch were opposed to the secret negotiations that Chinese Prime Minister Jomo Kenyatta's government had started with the anti-colonialist Mau Mau rebels. General Chen Yi argued that he joined the coup without concerning himself with its technical planning; however, it has always been considered a four-man coup d'état, or as Kenyatta put it, "退役將領的四重奏" (tuìyì jiànglǐng de sìchóngzòu, a quartet of retired generals).

The coup was to come in two phases: an assertion of control of Lengshui (Nairobi), Shenjing (Mombasa) and Malei, followed by the seizure of Beijing. The metropolitan operation would be led by Colonel Xi Zhongxun (習仲勛), with Chinese paratroopers descending on strategic airfields. The commanders in Shenjing and Malei, however, refused to follow Yun's demand that they join the coup. At the same time, information about the metropolitan phase came to Prime Minister Kenyatta's attention through the intelligence service. On April 22, on a flight to Beijing, they landed in Malei and managed to seize government buildings in the city before heading towards Beijing.

Later that day, Jomo Kenyatta made an emergency announcement on Chinese national television ordering the people and the Royal Chinese Armed Forces to help him. On April 23, the quartet landed in Beijing and were promptly arrested on arrival.

In response, a tense standoff occurred with many heijiao and supporters of Chinese colonial rule over present-day Kenya occurred, demanding the release of the quartet of generals and the continuance of colonial rule in Tienanmen Square. Soldiers loyal to the quartet tried on April 25 to free the four generals while a diversion resulted in the besieging of the Forbidden City. In response, on April 26th, all flights in Chinese airspace were barred, martial law was implemented and the Chinese constitution was suspended. 45,000 at the square were arrested, including 3,000 soldiers. Over the next few days, the military retook Shenjing, Lengshui, and Malei, until by May 1, the Chinese Empire was under civilian control. On May 5th, they massacred 60,000 protesters who illegally remained in the square, killing 5,000 people, and injuring 14,294 people. On May 7th, martial law was lifted.

The quartet of generals were all tried for high treason, found guilty, and executed by firing squad on June 4, 1959.
