I'm going to have the Jiaozhou Mandate invent simplified characters in the 1950s to make it easier for Germans to learn the Chinese language.

About that: the Academy of the Chinese Language will insist that you use traditional characters, Bopomofo and/or Pinyin.

They'd refuse to recognize the "modification" because it "reduces" the understanding of Chinese texts from both the rest of the Sinosphere to Jiaozhou, and Jiazhou to the rest of the Sinosphere. They don't care about how you speak now, but insist you at least write with the rest.

As such, I am thinking that for Google Translate, the Academy would insist that only the traditional characters be called Chinese. Imagine the joy as they click and start translating to get Jiazhouan Chinese... only to find they got Chinese Chinese. *trollface*

Why would Jiaozhouans care about what the Academy of the Chinese Language says, much less change their ways? The Academy can't do shit. They're in a different country. Hell, even people in the same country as a language academy IRL often don't give a shit about what they say; most French people don't really care when the Academie Francais throws temper tantrums over words like "l'email" or "le cloud" or "le CD", much less change their speaking patterns to contain the sanctioned alternatives of "la courriel electronique" or "le nuage" or "le disque compact".
As such, I am thinking that for Google Translate, the Academy would insist that only the traditional characters be called Chinese. Imagine the joy as they click and start translating to get Jiazhouan Chinese... only to find they got Chinese Chinese. *trollface*

One slight problem: Google is based in California, not China, meaning that the Academy couldn't tell Google what to do. That isn't to say that Google Translate will have Jiaozhouan Chinese; there are only 8 million speakers(more people speak Uyghur, Quecha, Somali, Haitian Creole, and Zulu), so chances are there won't be a "Jiaozhouan Chinese" because there aren't enough speakers to justify it, not because some haughty academy with no real authority in another country threw a hissyfit.

A COMPLETE LIST OF MAJOR BOOKS AND PLAYS written in this RP (any new works will be added)

GEORG VON LICHT/DZHORDZH FON LIKHT
THE RIGHTEOUS CAUSE The year is 1951, and the world is divided between eight superstates: Freistaatland, Südamerika, Nordseeallianz, Mitteleuropa, Großarabien, Zentralasien, and Ostasien. These nations are in a state of constant war that has left the world ruined. Karl Eichemann, the protagonist, is sent to end the war and bring peace; however, catastrophe kills Eichemann and restarts the feud.

NEITHER VICTORY NOR PEACE The empires of Jiaozhande and Hakuchi, led by the shortsighted monarchs Kangsong and Tennohito, turn a war of words and baseless accusations into a devastating continent-wide conflict that leads to millions of deaths, mass rebellions, and ultimately their own deposition. The novel was published as a criticism of escalating tensions between China and Japan.

BLESSED ARE THE PERSECUTED Jewish German Yaakov Fiegenbaum and his family live in a defeated 1930s Germany that turns to anti-Semitic politicians Ludwig Ernst and Johannes Heisenberg, who initiate ever-increasing persecutions against German Jews. The book chronicles Yaakov and his family trying to live through the persecution. At first forced into ghetto, then into hiding, and then into a death camp, only Yaakov and his son Yitzhak survive(and Yitzhak loses his legs along the way). After the anti-Semites are deposed, the two try to rebuild their lives.

WITH LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL Black Confederate Miriam Robinson unintentionally becomes the leader of the equal rights movement in the CSA, but she gladly accepts the role, leading strikes and marches that force the Confederate government to grant equal rights to all citizens and end segregation. Surviving assassination attempts, she is elected President by a sweeping majority in 1964, cementing the progress made by the civil rights movement.

THE MISERABLE ONES Jan Janowski, a redeemed criminal who has broken his parole, must try to avoid the relentless Eugen Marschall, who seeks to put him back in chains. Meanwhile, Jan's adopted daughter Andzelika falls in love with Polish revolutionary Maksymilian Mysliwski- who is torn between his love Andzelika and his fellow revolutionaries Ostromir Wieczeslawski and Szymon Topolski. The revolutionaries rebel, but most die in the German response- though Janowski manages to save Maksymilian and bring him to Andzelika. Marschall, realizing that Janowski is indeed redeemed, kills himself; Janowski also dies shortly thereafter.

VOX POPULI Valentin Pushilin, head of one of the subdivisions of the Union of Federative Unified Republics, a Russia without a Tsar, works for the country's repressive dictatorship, established 80 years earlier in the 1910s. When a dispute about reform in the country leads to a hardliner coup against the country's reformist leader, Pushilin heeds the voice of the people and demands that the UFUR be done away with and replaced with numerous democratic states- a vision that ultimately comes true.

JOSEF IBAKOV
BLOOD OF THE CRESCENT In a semi-propagandized account of the siege of Sevastopol/Aqyar, Ibakov accuses the Crimean army of committing various war crimes during its fight for independence from Ukraine.

MICHAEL MATSUDAIRA
THE FADING SUN In an alternate timeline, the Japanese shogunate defeats Go-Daigo and initiates a period of isolation that leaves Japan technologically backward and abused by foreign powers. Despite a push to modernize and gain the respect of world leaders, Japan is largely destroyed after several brash and dictatorial leaders wreck the country, leaving it devastated. The story ends with the few remaining Japanese chafing under Chinese rule.

UNIT 731 Written as an unofficial partner to Blessed are the Persecuted, this book follows the bloody trail left by a Japanese army unit committing mass crimes against Chinese civilians and Americaner POWs in a dystopic war-torn world.

VIKTOR EBERHARTER
(see "the Miserable Ones" under Georg von Licht)

GAVRIIL FON LIKHT
THE GREAT WORLD WARS Fon Likht, taking a page from his father's books, writes about a hellish world dominated by poor economics, warring nations, technology used for genocide, and brutal dictators. The book follows the world through two Great Wars that leave much of the world devastated and millions dead, and foments decades of international division and distrust. In the end, every one of the book's six main characters dies, whether they 'won' the wars or 'lost' them.

THE LIFE AND TIMES OF EDWARD HARPER Canadian intelligence worker Edward Harper realizes that the Royal Intelligence Agency of Canada is breaking Canadian privacy laws with its spying program, and decided to steal classified documents and leak them to the press. Fleeing to the Confederacy, he begins releasing the documents, which reveal Canadian spying at home and abroad. The news spreads like wildfire, and he is variously declared a hero and a traitor as a global debate on surveillance begins. The book ends with the RIA's head telling the press that Harper has only released a tiny fraction of the data he took.

MUHAMMAD ABBAS
THE CRESCENT AND THE STAR In a book postulated to be Rumite propaganda by some, Abbas describes a Middle East without Rum as a Middle East in total chaos. Islamic radicalism, ideological coups, ethnic feuds, and Zionism all lead to the deaths of thousands and permanent instability, which is taken advantage of by various foreign powers seeking to exploit the region.

CHODREN DAWA
THE EFFECTS OF LEFTISM The book begins in a totally uniform world- however, we soon learn that the hero, known only as Equality, has a hard time fitting in. He falls in love with a woman named Liberty, and after the government tries too hard to impress conformity on them, they form a rival society that brings back individuality to the world.

OBSCURITY Architect Wei Nianqing and his colleague Se Jidu face difficulties as they lose out to architects better at sweet-talking clients. However, people eventually turn to Wei and Se's more inspired and modern architecture. Se turns on Wei and attempts to destroy his empire and kill him; ultimately, though, Wei comes out on top.

THE EAST IS RED In Chodren Dawa's first play, she describes an alternate future where China is not as fortunate as it was. In several wars over opium and rebellions over everything the emperor does, China grows steadily weaker and more divided before having the monarchy overthrown and a period of total warlordism break out. As the period of warlordism ends, a period of ideological warfare breaks out(supported by the Japanese, who invade and establish various puppets). Ultimately, China winds up under a group of dictatorial rulers who must be defeated by the government-in-exile of China's brief period of democracy. After the return of peace and liberty to the country, it is unified, strong, and happy at last.

JEAN-LOUIS BOUCLIER
THE IMPURE BLOOD The first play based on the Righteous Cause, Bouclier's work is a pro-Guyanese and anti-Brazilian propaganda piece in which Eichemann dies in Südamerika and is replaced by violent revolutionary Maxmilien Bouclier, who united the world by force and exterminated his opposition to bring about utopia.

KARL JUNG/RONG KAI-ER
THE AUTUMN OF EMPIRES (book) The fictional realm of Ojczyzna, once a great empire, has been divided between the nations of Westens, Südens, and Dong, which has left the people demoralized and abused. Farmer Alojzy Swidzinski takes up the cause of his country and leads a campaign to liberate his homeland from foreign rule. Alojzy is initially successful, and named King of Ojczyzna as reward, but is murdered and replaced by a turncoat who returns foreign rule to the country.

LI XIAGONG
THE FINAL SOLUTION In the most hated book ever written, Li Xiagong calls for the total extermination of 'Japonic races', declaring them to be inferior to 'Sinic' races. He also calls for the Chinese Empire to grow significantly, to the point where it spans the entire Orient.

TAMERLAN JAHARNAEV
THE AUTUMN OF EMPIRES (play) Based on Karl Jung's book, this play adaptation replaced Dong with Vostok(an anti-Russian move, which in unsurprising given that Jaharnaev was Caucasian). The ending is also modified: Alojzy's brother Wladyslaw finally finishes his brother's dream and guarantees Ojczyzna's independence.

ARDGHAL O'BERACH
FRUIT OF FREEDOM The author outlines his idea of a united, independent Ireland, free from British rule and run by a secular High King and Catholic clergy. O'Berach also outlined plans to promote Irish culture and to 'cleanse' the island of English influence. However, he warns, the book is for Ireland only, and is not for foreign use.

IRELAND AND THE WORLD Furious at global support for Britain, O'Berach returns to criticize the world standing by as the British exploited Ireland. He also proposed that an independent Ireland should colonize Africa or the Caribbean. He also advocates ethnic nationalism globally.

MAO PENG-HUI
ENTRANCE TO HEAVEN A Chinese family moves to the imperial colony in Chinese East Africa to seek a better life for themselves and to 'civilize the continent'. When stranded, a group of kind but backward Africans and heroic Chinese soldiers help them to Tianshang. The book was released to promote colonization of Africa by East and West alike, portraying Africans as savages in need of civilizing by foreign powers.

PHILLIP ENGEL
THE FATES OF MEN The play version of the Righteous Cause endorsed by Georg von Licht himself. The Fates of Men stole bits and pieces of the other plays about the story to create something of an anthology, containing something from every one.

ANTERO DE QUENTAL
SLAUGHTER OF THE MOORS Ibrahim Muladi, a wealthy Moor, rebels against the oppressive Prince João of Algarve. Establishing a small Moorish emirate, they briefly experience independence before the Portuguese reclaim the land and slaughter the Moors en masse, leaving Algarve a barren wasteland.

TWILIGHT OF PEACE After criticizing the Portuguese monarchy and being driven out of the country, João Llano travels the world searching for a place to start anew. Llano's unfortunate association with the dimwitted Antero results in them being driven from Guyane, Italy, and the Confederacy. Ultimately, Llano drowns Antero and returns to Portugal- where he is pardoned on the morning of his execution.

HARUNA HACHISUKA
THE ETERNAL SOLDIERS A six-part series focusing on the rebellion led by Riku Sukaiuoka against the Dark Shogun, once Riku's father Anakin. Riku briefly falls in love with her long-lost sister Kiki, but the relationship doesn't last.

UNSPECIFIED/UNKNOWN
AD 1951 The British play version of the Righteous Cause, based off of the Impure Blood, but lacking any joy to its ending. The main notable difference is the addition of weapons known as 'sun bombs'(nuclear weaponry).

THE DESERTER Written in Italy in the early 1800s, this novel follows Adalfredo Capaccio, an Italian soldier during a war against the Ottomans. Deserting in Bosnia, he flees towards Italy to see his home and family- but is executed outside of Zagreb after being found and captured.

Also, you forgot:

Moya Borotʹba, (Ukrainian for: "My Struggle") written by Oleksandr Kostiuk. It is basically Mein Kampf, except replace Jews with Crimeans.

And I shall add this one:

Petrovsky's Testament
Grigory Petrovsky, sensing his coming death wrote his ideas on how the Soviet government should change into a more democratic state. It criticized current Soviet leaders and heavily suggested removing Pavlenko from power, as Petrovsky viewed Pavlenko's reforms to both the soviet system and to the government as totalitarian. Petrovsky died a few years later and the book was both published and distributed throughout the USSR by Ivan Kasparov.

December 15, 2000

The Emperor's New Groove, an American animated film held it's world premiere in the capital city today. The movie was attended by the stars, David Spade, Eartha Kitt, John Goodman and others, along with the Sapa Inca, several high nobles and 500 lucky citizens. This buddy film is set in the old capital of the Empire many centuries ago, and follows the story of Kuzco, the Sapa Inca. (played by David Spade) -- other wacky characters come along for the ride, and the movie has released to critical acclaim by many.

The Sapa Inca said after the premiere, "The movie is hysterically funny, I would give it five out of five, it doesn't white-wash our culture, it gives it a humorous injection, and provides us with a brilliant story."

Good news for me- Sarah Palin was born in Skagway, Idaho, which is ATL in Canada- her family moved to Alaska when she was a young child. This means that Canada gets to deal with her, not the Confederacy.

BREAKING NEWS - GERMAN TROOPS REFUSED ENTRY TO DENMARK BY POLICE, MILITARY IN SHOW OF OPEN DEFIANCE TO BERLIN
Image
Police stand by as thousands of Danes flood the streets of København to protest against Germany's century-old suzerainty over Denmark- including moves to deny Danes the right to national democracy, for fear that elected leaders might be more openly defiant towards Germany than Denmark's monarchs. However, Queen Charlotte has recently come out in favor of the protests, and says that it was only fears of German retaliation that prevented royal endorsement under previous monarchs.

AABENRAA, DENMARK - In what came as no doubt a shock to the German troops sent to crush pro-sovereignty protests centered in København but spreading across the country, Danish policemen and troops refused to allow German soldiers or equipment into Denmark at the Ellund Border Crossing, under orders from Queen Charlotte. Similar attempts at Kupfermuhle and Padborg were also rejected, according to the National Police. While the German military has not officially stated why the troops were being sent north in spite of crises with Czechoslovakia and China, it is highly probable that they were being sent to crush pro-sovereignty protests in København, as had been done before during similar protests. Queen Charlotte also announced that German and Hungarian boats would no longer be able to enter Danish waters, German and Hungarian planes would be denied entry to Danish airspace, that all German tourists in Denmark would be expelled and all Danish tourists in Germany and Hungary would be recalled, and that Denmark would be recalling all diplomatic staff in Germany and Hungary.
Image
Infographic- Denmark, Germany,
the disputed region of
Slesvig-Holsten, and how the world
is reacting to the ongoing situation.

The move from Denmark comes amid a series of trials and tribulations for the Holy Roman Empire, which faces sanctions from much of the world during the ongoing Crisis of 2014, and Chinese moves towards the Jiaozhou Mandate.

"The move is one that is simply long overdue," Queen Charlotte Amalienshavn told the press today. "The House of Amalienshavn, starting with King Poul, has been firmly in support of Danish independence since we campaigned against the disastrous Kingdom of Scandinavia in the early 1800s that deposed the House of Glucksburg. It was only fear of German retaliation that prevented earlier kings from acting; but in this situation we know that the world stands behind us and our cause to fight for full sovereignty from Germany and the return of Slesvig-Holsten to Denmark." She also urged the Hungarians- who are in a similar situation, though they have been allowed a largely powerless but elected Palatine in addition to a German monarch- to rise up in protests against Germany and its destructive and repressive policies.

Germany has condemned the protests as "irrational hatred against Germany," with Holy Roman Emperor Ernst August stating that "Germany never 'puppeted' Denmark, and never will," an obviously false statement. He also insisted that Slesvig-Holsten(Schleswig-Holstein in German) "is an integral part of Germany", ignoring that it was Danish for centuries before it was German. He insisted that Germany will find a way to put the protests down and "restore order and sanity to Denmark". Germany faces increasing opposition from the EAU and OAS as well as much of the AU, including sanctions and bans, as word of its wrongdoings against Danes and Czechoslovaks alike spreads.

Meanwhile, across the country, protests are spreading with the open approval of the government, with large crowds gathering in København, Odense, Sønderborg, Aarhus, Aalborg, Aabenraa, Kolding, Nykøbing, Rønne, Velje, and Randers. There were even protests against Germany on the Faeroe Islands. Police and military are not being assigned to guard the protests, but are instead being moved to the borders to ensure that any German invasion force is repelled. The EAU has offered Denmark military aid if necessary, should Germany attempt to quash Danish sovereignty entirely.

Slesvig-Holstein, controlled by Germany but claimed as historic territory by most Danes(and by the Danish government only recently), is one of Germany's northernmost 'kingdoms' and contains the cities of Lybæk(Lübeck), Hamborg(Hamburg), Flensborg(Flensburg), Kiel(Kiel), and Nymunster(Neumünster). Slesvig-Holsten was controlled by Denmark from the 1350s to the 1810s(when it was given to the Confederation of the Rhine by Napoleon Bonaparte), and most Danes view it as long-lost territory. Much of Slesvig remains Danish, though many Germans have pushed Danes out of Holstein(akin to the moves by Germany to push Czechs and Poles out of the regions of Czechoslovakia and Poland controlled by Germany, both of which ultimately backfired partially or totally on Imperial Germany's ambitions). Its future, and the future of Denmark as a whole, hangs in the balance on whether or not Germany backs down from its unjust imperialism and returns Slesvig-Holsten to its fatherland, or if it decides to mindlessly charge ahead with outdated and backward practices of conquest and vassalage.

OTHER NEWS:
Czechoslovak, Hungarian, German forces begin exchanging rocket fire: In the ongoing Crisis of 2014, German and Hungarian troops exchanged rocket fire with their Czechoslovak counterparts as ground lines stabilized. Czechoslovakia is fighting for Germany and Hungary to finally recognize its status as a sovereign nation, and has the backing of the EAU and OAS. German and Hungarian troops have roughly 48 hours to stand down before much of the world enacts sanctions on the two defiant countries.
Jiaozhouans continue protests against the possibility of a return to China: The inhabitants of the Jiaozhou Mandate continued protests today, calling out slogans like "away with Imperial China" and "Jiaozhouan liberty and autonomy forever". China views Jiaozhou as rightfully Chinese; however, a 2003 referendum found that 97% of Jiaozhouans opposed the concept of the Mandate being 'returned' to the Chinese Empire. Under Germany, Jiaozhou is in effect autonomous in most of its affairs, excluding foreign relations and defense; many Jiaozhouans feel they would lose this sovereignty if made a part of China.
Romanov and Putin in agreement- Russia and Alaska will pursue any and all reconciliation paths: Vladimir Putin and Dmitriy II Romanov agreed before the press in Tinushtytlan, stating that they would both work to their fullest ability to conclude the disputes between their countries, or at least make the steps necessary for cooperation and amicable relations. "We are both determined to continue this diplomatic program for as long as it is needed," Dmitriy II concluded.
No violence in Missouri last night, police captain confirms: Missouri Highway Patrol Captain Ron Johnson told reporters today that protests in the town of Ferguson last night- unlike protests in previous days- were not marred by violence, adding that the city is in a state of relative calm. "[Last night] the elders in this community, volunteers, activists and the clergy came out in large numbers. They walked, they talked with people. They urged order and common peace," he told the press. Many of the protesters today carried roses as a symbol of peace. The protests- at times, riots- started following the shooting of a black teenager by a white police officer. The Police Department says that the shooting was the result of the teenager confronting the officer and attempting to take his gun; the teenager's family says that he had his hands up and had submitted to the officer before being shot.
Troops in Kamerun, the Volta joining regional militias to enforce ebola lockdown: In what might be a bizarre sign of hope for the Volta and Kamerun, government forces joined with various militias- some of which were at war with the governments of the countries- to enforce border lockdowns to prevent the spread of ebola from Guinea and Nigeria into their countries. In the Volta, torn by civil war for years, a ceasefire was signed with various militant groups to close down the border until the epidemic passes; nothing official was done in the far more stable state of Kamerun, where many of the country's militias are oft-neglected branches of political parties. Thousands of people in Guinea and Nigeria have come down with ebola, which is almost always lethal and incredibly contagious.
Republican presidential candidate in CS chooses his VP pick: Former Governor of Utah Mitt Romney chose Wisconsin's Congressman Paul Ryan as his vice presidential nominee, energizing his campaign and bringing in $1.2 million in donations. Mitt Romney is standing against incumbent President Barack Obama and his Vice President Joe Biden(who were elected in the 2010 presidential election, beating out Arizona Senator John McCain and Minnesotan Representative Michele Bachmann), and seeks to convince voters that his business experience makes him a sure path to economic growth and fiscal prosperity. His VP pick, Paul Ryan, is known for his repeated proposals to slash social spending in the CSA in an attempt to remove the CSA's massive budget deficit. With the 2014 election only a few months away, it's almost time for Confederate voters to decide if they want to keep Obama or replace him with Mitt Romney.

Also worth noting that the CSA's presidential elections are two years later than the USA's- meaning that Obama was elected in 2010 and will be reelected this November.

CHINESE NATIONAL TELEVISION - CNTV
English - Tibetan - Chinese - Mongol - Uighur - Manchu - Japanese - French - Kyrgyz
Foreign Minister Rebiya Kadeer announces three "plans" to solve the crisis in Qingdao
Foreign Minister Rebiya Kadeer, MP from Aletay since 1988 has issued three plans due to pressure from the protesters at Tienanmen Square, which had grew to 500,000 people since last night, regarding Qingdao's future.

Her Plan A is to make the Jiazhou Mandate a free city under either United Nations or Asian Union administration with German and Chinese to be co-official. Jiazhou would share a customs union, defense, have open borders with China, and a free trade agreement, but it would maintain control of all other affairs, including monetary affairs, foreign relations, education, health, trade agreements, et cetera.

Plan B would involve making the mandate a Special Administrative Region of China, with special rights surpassing the autonomous communities (total nation-like powers except China would be in charge of defense and some foreign affairs).

Plan C would be incorporating Qingdao as an autonomous community like Tibet, Qurighar, Mongolia and Manchuria, with the powers of education, healthcare, extra welfare, taxation, transportation (except inter-community transport and railroads except commuter rail), minimum wage, some foreign affairs (cultural affairs), and linguistic affairs.

The plans gained the support of the protesters at Tienanmen Square, but it came at a cost: Prime Minister Elbegdorj declared that "the three plans will only inflame tensions between Germany and China."

In the nearby city of Jiaonan, 70,000 people peacefully marched towards the border with Jiazhou, demanding that China intervene in Qingdao. German flags were burned while Chinese flags were waved, as well banners like "GERMANY OUT OF JIAZHOU!" and "Time for Germany to say bye-bye to Asia." The protesters stopped one km from the border crossing and turned back.

More as the story develops.

Major published works of note in the RP (Stolen and reformatted from Ruri, sorry, all the caps was annoying!)

Georg von Licht / Dzhordzh fon Likht

1. The Righteous Cause
The year is 1951, and the world is divided between eight superstates: Freistaatland, Südamerika, Nordseeallianz, Mitteleuropa, Großarabien, Zentralasien, and Ostasien. These nations are in a state of constant war that has left the world ruined. Karl Eichemann, the protagonist, is sent to end the war and bring peace; however, catastrophe kills Eichemann and restarts the feud.

2. Neither Victory, Nor Peace
The empires of Jiaozhande and Hakuchi, led by the shortsighted monarchs Kangsong and Tennohito, turn a war of words and baseless accusations into a devastating continent-wide conflict that leads to millions of deaths, mass rebellions, and ultimately their own deposition. The novel was published as a criticism of escalating tensions between China and Japan.

3. Blessed are the Persecuted
Jewish German Yaakov Fiegenbaum and his family live in a defeated 1930s Germany that turns to anti-Semitic politicians Ludwig Ernst and Johannes Heisenberg, who initiate ever-increasing persecutions against German Jews.

4. With Liberty and Justice For All
Black Confederate Miriam Robinson unintentionally becomes the leader of the equal rights movement in the CSA, but she gladly accepts the role, leading strikes and marches that force the Confederate government to grant equal rights to all citizens and end segregation. Surviving assassination attempts, she is elected President by a sweeping majority in 1964, cementing the progress made by the civil rights movement.

5. The Miserable Ones
Jan Janowski, a redeemed criminal who has broken his parole, must try to avoid the relentless Eugen Marschall, who seeks to put him back in chains.

Viktor Eberharter

The story ends with the few remaining Japanese chafing under Chinese rule.

2. Unit 731

Gavriil fon Likht

1. The Great World Wars
Fon Likht, taking a page from his father's books, writes about a hellish world dominated by poor economics, warring nations, technology used for genocide, and brutal dictators. The book follows the world through two Great Wars that leave much of the world devastated and millions dead, and foments decades of international division and distrust. In the end, every one of the book's six main characters dies, whether they 'won' the wars or 'lost' them.

2. The Life and Times of Edward Harper
Canadian intelligence worker Edward Harper realizes that the Royal Intelligence Agency of Canada is breaking Canadian privacy laws with its spying program, and decided to steal classified documents and leak them to the press.

1. The Crescent and the Star In a book postulated to be Rumite propaganda by some, Abbas describes a Middle East without Rum as a Middle East in total chaos. However, people eventually turn to Wei and Se's more inspired and modern architecture. Se turns on Wei and attempts to destroy his empire and kill him; ultimately, though, Wei comes out on top.

3. The East is Red
In Chodren Dawa's first play, she describes an alternate future where China is not as fortunate as it was.

FLAGS, EFFIGIES BURNT IN JIAOZHOU AFTER CHINA PROPOSES THREE ANNEXATION PLANS
Chinese flags and effigies of Chinese officials were burnt in Qingdao's Jianshangdan Park today after Chinese Foreign Minister Rebiya Kadeer proposed three plans, distinguished by only minimal differences, that would force the Jiaozhou Mandate(purchased by Germany in 1893, and presently a largely autonomous but nominally German entity) under the rule of the Chinese Empire. Jiaozhouans(who use a different set of characters, are generally bilingual, and view themselves as Jiaozhouan instead of Chinese) treasure their autonomy, and view Germany as the nation that made Qingdao a large and prosperous city; by contrast, most Jiaozhouans view China as a backwards empire that would destroy Qingdao's success and rob it of its democratic and autonomous government. Last night's protests were the largest yet, with nearly two million Jiaozhouans(a fifth of the city's population) filling the streets and squares to tell China to stop attempting to interfere in Jiaozhou and leave the de facto city-state alone.
GERMANY FUMBLING FOR A RESPONSE TO DENMARK; QUEEN CHARLOTTE PROPOSES A NEW LEGISLATURE AND EAU MEMBERSHIP
Emperor Ernst August and Chancellor Angela Merkel alike appear to be struggling for a response after Danish policemen and soldiers denied a German army unit from entering the country yesterday, out of fears that the army unit would be used to crush the protests flooding the streets of Danish cities. The protesters are demanding an end to German suzerainty over Denmark and the return of Schleswig-Holstein(considered by the Danes to be a territory stolen from them in the early 1800s). Meanwhile, Queen Charlotte Amalienshavn announced a broad series of reforms to be instituted in the country. Firstly, she announced the creation of a national legislature, the Folketinget, and a position of Prime Minister, with elections for the various positions to be September 1st. She also announced that Denmark was appealing to the Eurasian Commission to be admitted into the Eurasian Union, one of Germany's major rivals, something that Eurasian Commission President Viktor Khristenko announced the EAU would "consider thoroughly and decide with great haste".
HUNGARY AGREES TO RECOGNIZE CZECHOSLOVAKIA IN EXCHANGE FOR A CEASEFIRE
In a stunning move, King Lajos Wittelsbach of Hungary announced that the Realm of the Magyars would officially drop all claims to the territories of the Czechoslovak Republic and close its section of the Iron Curtain, ending the Crisis of 2014 in Hungary. Several major Hungarian cities had been occupied by Czechoslovak forces, and this combined with increasing rebelliousness from Denmark(which, like Hungary, is under German suzerainty) likely led to the decision. He also announced that most of the king's powers as chief executive would be transferred to the country's Palatine, presently Viktor Orban. Czechoslovak President Andrej Kiska welcomed the move, and ordered Czechoslovak troops in Hungary to return to Czechoslovakia, likely to be moved to the front with Germany, which remains active. King Lajos did not mention if Hungary would consider EAU membership, but many around the world are already saying that Hugnary's admission is nigh-guaranteed.
ETHNIC VIOLENCE SPREADING IN THE CONGO OUT FROM THE PROVINCE OF GABON
Reports of ethnic clashes between some of the Congo's multitude of ethnic groups have grown more frequent, spreading out from the province of Gabon at a worrying rate. Gabon's capital of Freistadt(one of the few areas not affected previously by the Second Congolese Civil War) is the epicenter of the clashes, which have spread out towards the twin cities of Kinschasa(formerly Leopoldstadt) and Nkuna(formerly Kaiserstadt) and up and down the country's coastline. The Congloese government, already stretched thin by the civil war, has requested UN peacekeepers to quell the violence before it becomes anything more serious. However, in all likelihood, the Second Congloese Civil War is only about to become more multisided.
ZANZIBAR ACCUSES TANGANYIKA OF ASSASSINATING THREE GENERALS
Zanzibarian Sultan Sayfullah an-Nabanhi accused Tanganyikan President Adolf Paulus Kagame of ordering Tanganyikan intelligence forces to murder three Zanzibarian generals. The three generals- General Ismail al-Abadi, General Umar Hanouyeh, and General Abdullah ibn Uthman- were top officials within Zanzibar's Royal Security Force, which is widely accused of abusing the country's poor black majority. President Kagame denied the allegations placed against him by the Sultan, but made it perfectly clear that Tanganyika does not tolerate Zanzibar's treatments of Africans, saying that "while we do believe that serious change is required in Zanzibar, we are not a nation that would use unscrupulous or criminal means to accomplish that goal."
NORTH NEW GUINEAN GOVERNMENT NOTES WORRYING RISE IN HATE CRIMES AGAINST ABORIGINALS
Chancellor Eckhardt Kassermeyer told the press that hate crime against Aboriginals in North New Guinea has become "an epidemic", citing an unnerving rise in the number of violent crimes(including burglaries, assaults, rapes, abductions, and murders) directed at Aboriginals. "We have a serious problem when people feel that it's okay to target someone because of their ethnicity," he said. Many Aboriginals in North New Guinea retain traditional lifestyles in the isolated mountains separating North New Guinea from Dutch Indonesia and Papua New Guinea; however, those that live in the cities alongside white North New Guineans are(unfortunately) often submitted to discrimination by whites. The government- which was once the primary disenfranchiser of Aboriginals- is now working extensively to prevent discrimination and hate crime, though Chancellor Kassermeyer admitted to the press that there is still much work to be done in all sectors, work which his government will gladly do in the interest of creating a free and equal North New Guinea.
CSA'S REPUBLICAN NATIONAL CONVENTION OPENS IN FLORIDA
The Republican National Convention opened today in the Floridian city of Tampa, heralding the end of the Republican primary and representing the confirmation of Mitt Romney's victory in the race to be the party's nominee. Tonight's speakers were Mitt's wife, Ann Romney, and Texas Senator Ted Cruz; tomorrow, Paul Ryan will speak; and the day after, Florida Senator Marco Rubio and Mitt Romney himself. The 2012 Republican primary was a long and bloody battle, and many are now waiting to see how Romney recovers to deal with the incumbent president and presumptive nominee for the Democrats Barack Obama. The Democratic National Convention opens September 1st in Charlotte, North Carolina; election day is this November.
'SOLID FRAMEWORK' BETWEEN RUSSIA, ALASKA ESTABLISHED IN TINUSHTYTLAN AS MEETING ENDS
President Vladimir Putin told reporters in Tinushtytlan that he and Tsar Dmitriy II Romanov had established a "solid framework for future progress," adding that they had instituted plans for resumption travel between Russia and Alaska for all, visa programs, family reunion programs, and several other steps forward. Alaska, which calls itself the Russian Empire and maintains its institutions, was driven out of Eurasia during the 1991 Russian Revolution; on Eurasia, many territories broke away, with the remainder forming the United Russian Republic. The Tinushtytlan Conference represents one of the largest steps towards reconciliation between the two countries, and is a political triumph for President Putin and Tsar Dmitriy both. Many analysts have agreed that Tinushtytlan is likely to be used as a basis for further progress- including the possibility of constitutional monarchy- in the future.
