“When all the world is overcharged with inhabitants, then the last remedy of all is war, which provideth for every man, by victory or death.”
-Thomas Hobbes
It has been two decades since the end of the Great War. A war of Empires. A war that men foolishly called the war to end all wars. There was peace after the Great War for a time, but mankind will never change. After the war the victors took their spoils, and now are overburdened with their winnings. The defeated suffered abasement that went too far.
The world is reeling from the economic collapse known as the Great depression. People all around the world suffer, and in their desperation they turn to those who claim to have answers. Communists, Fascists, capitalists, all say that their way will bring back prosperity. These newly chosen leaders look at their overpopulated cities, and overworked fields. They cannot take care of their people, so they look to their neighbors with hunger. They look at resources untapped, and lands unplowed. Can these lands help relieve their own burdened populations?
Still others look on, and watch these predatory nations with caution. They stand on their moral high ground and say that they will not tolerate the philosophy that might makes right. They prepare themselves to help their allies, and to defend their own borders.
The whole world waits, watching with baited breath. The storm has gathered, and is about to burst.
