What do you guys think of JOMAX CITY?

Well for a city its pretty small. Usually cities are big things with lots of skyscrapers and several large neighborhoods.

And secondly, what are those big blue and yellow areas outside jomax city?

I would usually count that as a big town. Not a city. But thats just me. New york is a city. Boston is a city. Seattle is a city.

Places with skyscrapers and lots of other buildings around them for a few miles is a city.

"Jomax City" sounds better than "Jomax town." or "jomax village" or "Jomax,-that-place-where-alot-of-people-live-but-not-enough-to-be-considered-a-pre-apocalypse City"

Can I have a character who has a people scanner? I saw it in a tv show once. It takes a retina scan and fingerprint scan of you and rifles through the people database and shows up everything about you on a little screen.

I was thinking maybe since there is such a thing as people "dissapearing without a trace" or "falling off the face of the earth" as it were,
it might also have a small machine in it that takes a blood sample of the person if they dont come up in the database normally.
No denying what your dna says about you after all.

actually jomax village doesnt sound like a half bad name, but yeah I see your point.

Jomax city it is then. And I still think you havent answered the question about what the colored squares outside jomax city are.
It looks like there might be buildings there too.

Hmm,I kinda doubt something like that would work after 50 years or be reliable for anything at all, due to nobody keeping up to date with DNA files or anything anymore at that point. Though I do think there are ones that can take a blood sample, but I'm not sure.

Well its only been 50 years since the apocalypse. Assuming any form of dna files are still active, anyone born before everything went to hell that is still alive, would probably be on them. And who knows who might be keeping updates on things. Pretty much every post apocalyptic style movie or video game these days has someone still doing that stuff. The last of us has some sort of military faction even 30 years after all that stuff, fallout has whats left of the vault stuff, resident evil has umbrella corp... So on and so forth..

And I think that military thing is something we havent really factored into our rp much these days.
Do we really think in 20 years after the game, they just up and vanished out of the blue? Plus theres the fireflies and who knows what else...

Whether or not someone is trying to do that is irrelevant, really. People are so few and far between, they might have been able to update some, but chances are most people have never even come near the person who might be doing it. Also, the DNA files from before the apocalypse would probably mostly work for like, people 50 and older :P

Hey I never claimed it would work on everyone. And yes I am aware of the pre-apocalypse dna files.
I specified that in my comment about it being 50 years since the apocalypse. Its also been 20 years since the game.
So anyone in a military quarantine area would probably be in such a file.

Not everyone in the country at the current time would be in the files, but enough, incase some one has a reason to need to look them up.

Ooh I just thought of a perfect excuse for someone to have that person scanner thingy! One of the military guard guys!
But one on special orders to go from quarantine zone to quarantine zone picking up bounty hunts and helping guard units quell riots and that sort of thing.

Ohh. Thanks for clearing that up. From the map it all looks like buildings so I couldnt be sure.
And no, people cant restore skyscrapers anymore. But they can hang out in crumbling ones like they did in the game.

ever been to phx compared to Seattle? we have not one sky scraper.

everything in low to the floor. in reality non of thease puildings would topple over like the ones in the games, there center of gravity is low and balanced while places like new yourk and boston have like hundrd floor buildings... those would fall.

I think that brown one in the middle might count. according to wikipedia, a skyscraper is 40+ floors.

Personally in my opinion, any building you have to crane your head to see fully should count as a skyscraper.
So anything more than 10 stories high. But thats just me.

30. It's been 30 years since the game (The game was in 2033, and the apocalypse started in 2013)

20 years after the stuff, this being another 30 years after that, and most of the military influence or military anything in the game was gone at 20 years later. Most of the military outposts were overrun and so on. Another 30 years, I doubt they have much impact at all.

And I think that military thing is something we havent really factored into our rp much these days.

Mostly because I don't like paying attention to that side of things in an RP much at all. Too many people like to play goody-two-shoes soldier boy in apocalyptic RP's (Specifically ones where it just started) trying to save all the other characters and those types of characters are about as boring as you can get to me. I prefer a focus on individual people, not some soldier boy guy who seems to think that because they play the soldier, they get to role play the entire army (Trust me, I've seen this. They're some of the worst RP'ers, too). A couple of old squads of military people here and there having evolved into a group over the 50 years is fine, I just don't care to pay attention to the military in itself, and I'm pretty much going to automatically say that it is so distabiliized at this point that it is pretty much irrelevant in the sense of being useful. As I said, it's most likely just a couple of squads that have evolved into a group of people over the years (And most likely the original members of are dead), and that's it, nothing more. No established military. No nothing.

Do we really think in 20 years after the game, they just up and vanished out of the blue? Plus theres the fireflies and who knows what else...

For the most part, probably yes. Though I think I gave enough of a description above.

Also, I've been trying to keep technology type stuff to a minimum in this RP, anyway, like giving exceptions that maybe for some reason, flashlights would have any possibility of ever having any batteries in the world work at all now (They wouldn't, because they'd all corrode), the same being said about cars and the like, but I think something like a people scanner would be pushing it. I just don't want too much technology stuff in this, since this is mostly about focusing on the apocalypse and people trying to survive against each other and such like that. Or battling for power, because, you know, even in a society where most of the people are dead, we gotta brawl over power and so on, because humans.
