It is January of 1453 and you with your band of Loyal (or maybe not) mercenaries sail towards Greece as war looms between the Ottomans and remnants of the Byzantine Empire.

Okay so this will be a mercenary RP setting off in Greece a few months before the siege of Constantinople. You will control a band of no name mercenaries or a small military order seeking money, glory in fame in the upcoming war between the Byzantines and Ottomans. You will be in service of the Byzantine Emporer trying to keep the empire from falling and may succeed in that task earning much prestige.

Short History of the Band: The Sons were formed under the auspices of Petrov Dmitrov and his two brother, Vladimir and Alexander, as an option to take all three out of poverty as miners in the Rus'. Using hard muscles and rapidly gaining skill with weapons such as short-spears and crossbows, they took many jobs for the Rus' borderlords fighting the Lithuanians that often encroached on Muscovy, and in time earned themselves a well-deserved reputation as hard and fair men, capable of getting jobs done with minimal fuss and maximum efficiency. Soon they began to be hired by more and more influential nobles to solve larger problems, and thus had to take on other soldiers of fortune to complete their more dangerous assignments. Over time the Citadel of the Stars was built to accommodate the growing ranks of the Sons, and their numbers swelled to a great size for a mercenary outfit. They are prosperous and rich for most men, but see little turnover due to the tremendously lucrative position that working for the Sons is, and have even fought under the banner of Grand Dukes at times, the black tower flying during battles as far afield as Scandinavia and the Caspain Sea.

Appearance: Tall and dark-haired like most men of the Rus, he is a burly giant of a man, dark-skinned from days on the march and in the fields, but with sharp grey eyes like grinding ice of the polar seas who see well in the dark from his many years in the mines of the Urals. He dresses in a white hauberk trimmed in black over plate mail and wears a full conical helm in battle, wielding a great war-mace and a large square shield against his foes.
Short Bio: His story is much like that of the Sons themselves, and is found therein, aside from his childhood, when he went to work in the mines of the Urals as a young boy with his brothers due to the death of their parents due to the Plague.

Name of Captain: Vladimir Dmitrov
Country of origin: Muscovy Rus'
Appearance: Vladimir is akin to his brother in appearance, sharing his blood as brothers do, though he has a clean scar along his jawline on the left side of his face from an arrow he almost died of early in their mercenary career, and favors a greatsword and no shield over Petrov's mace, and is marginally taller than Petrov.
Short Bio: His story is the same as his brother's, in essence, though he worked in the smelter at the mine rather than in its depths, and is a very skilled metallurgist.

Country of origin: Muscovy Rus'
Appearance: Alexander is akin to his brother in appearance, sharing his blood as brothers do, though he is shorter than either of his brothers and has a slight tint of blue to his eyes, and dirty-blonde hair.

They desired to earn glory, fame, and riches. A way to do that was to found a mercenary outfit, and they did. However, they couldn't get anyone to join it. So, they worked other jobs, and earned enough money to persuade people to join the DKM. The tactic worked, and they numbers inflated massively. They are inexperienced and poor for the most part, but their morale is high. They have only done one job, and that was a relatively short one.

When he was older, he went out in search of money to help his family, along with Johann. They ran out of jobs to do, and were poor themselves. They then decided to found a mercenary outfit known as the Kings of the Sea.

Short History of the Band: Formed in 1067, the Black Eagles Company was formed by Ex-General Victor Delgado who deserted his post as General of the Kingdom of Leon during a military campaign against the Almoravid army. The company participated in some major battles against the Muslims, notably in the Battle of Sagrajas in 1086 where they fought for the forces of Castile against the Almoravids, though they died in the ensuing defeat, they became famous for being one of the few forces which didn't retreat and stood their ground, though all 100 mercenaries died in the ensuing defeat. They went on to participate in the crusades under the payroll of the Church and of some states like France, while continuing its participation in the Reconquista. At their peak they numbered some 11,000 mercenaries around the 1200s, with 5,000 in Spain, 3,400 in the Holy Lands and the rest scattered in groups of 100-300 in Europe fighting for nations like France in the Hundred Years War. Their mercenaries consists of ex-military forces who are fairly elite, strong and very loyal, they are known to hold the line for others to retreat or used to spearhead attacks against enemies, taking heavy casualties so the regular armies could easily defeat the weakened enemies. Due to this, they suffered heavy losses in the Holy Land and by 1300 AD, they had lost nearly 3/4 of all their forces that were deployed starting from the first crusade had been killed, 15,000 of the 20,000 that were at one point (They didn't serve all at once) serving for the Company. With their final defeats during the Crusades at Krak des Chevaliers and at Acre, the Black Eagles lost nearly 1/3 of all their troops at the time period, and was reduced to 6,000 by the mid 1300s, and though they rose to nearly 9,000 in the late 1300s to help fight for the Byzantines against the Ottomans, they suffered a devastating defeat against the Ottomans when 4,000 attacked the Ottoman forces in 1398 under the order to help the Byzantines recapture a foothold in Asia Minor, they lost nearly half their force and the rest were captured. After this, they collapsed to 400 men by 1453, when they received a request from the Byzantine Empire to help save their capital that was nearing the possibility of a siege, they deployed 400 of their finest, best and last troops, ready to prove to Europe that they were an effective fighting force.

Short Bio: Born in 1423 Ricardo Felix is a descendant of a great line of Crusaders Mercenaries who fought in the Holy land and in the Reconquista, he himself fought for the Kingdom of Aragon and Castile against the forces of Granada and was soon praised by the Monarchs of the kingdoms as a fine commander, making many speculate the possibility that the Black Eagles were still a force to be reckoned with. Ricardo Felix is the most well known Mercenary leader, and the highest in rank. He wears the armor of the Crusaders when he fights the warriors of Islam and is determined to fight for Constantinople, a holy city and capital of the Byzantines (which is a subject he has studied and been fascinated by) until either victory or death. He has no children whom he knows of, though he has a good guess that he has at least a couple back in Aragon. He is an excellent swordsman

Short Bio: Roger was a leader of a band of the Black Eagles in Aragon against the Moors, fighting with Felix, he is 28 years old and great at archery, he is known to be arrogant at times and brash, yet still a good and inspirational captain.
Captain Victor is a captain from Venice who is 58 years old, though he looks older. Despite his age he is a good tactician and a fairly good swordsman. He is wise, cautious and resourceful, but also harsh to his troops at times.

With their final defeats during the Crusades at Krak des Chevaliers and at Acre, the Black Eagles lost nearly 1/3 of all their troops at the time period, and was reduced to 6,000 by the mid 1300s, and though they rose to nearly 9,000 in the late 1300s to help fight for the Byzantines against the Ottomans, they suffered a devastating defeat against the Ottomans when 4,000 attacked the Ottoman forces in 1398 under the order to help the Byzantines recapture a foothold in Asia Minor, they lost nearly half their force and the rest were captured. After this, they crumbled to 4,000 men by 1453, when they received a request from the Byzantine Empire to help save their capital that was nearing the possibility of a siege, they deployed 400 of their finest troops, ready to prove to Europe that they were an effective fighting force.

Short Bio: Born in 1423 Ricardo Felix is a descendant of a great line of Crusaders Mercenaries who fought in the Holy land and in the Reconquista, he himself fought for the Kingdom of Aragon and Castile against the forces of Granada and was soon praised by the Monarchs of the kingdoms as a fine commander, making many speculate the possibility that the Black Eagles were still a force to be reckoned with. Ricardo Felix is the most well known Mercenary leader, and the 4th highest in rank. He wears the armor of the Crusaders when he fights the warriors of Islam and is determined to fight for Constantinople, a holy city and capital of the Byzantines (which is a subject he has studied and been fascinated by) until either victory or death. He has no children whom he knows of, though he has a good guess that he has at least a couple back in Aragon. He is an excellent swordsman

Short Bio: Roger was a leader of a band of the Black Eagles in Aragon against the Moors, fighting with Felix, he is 28 years old and great at archery. Captain Victor is a captain from Venice who is 58 years old, though he looks older. Despite his age he is a good tactician and a fairly good swordsman.
