Army: 1,700,000 active personnel
Air Force: 330,000 active personnel
Navy: 290,000 personnel
Describe the Government system: One party state dominated by the Communist Party of China
Describe the economy: Second largest in the world with high % growth based on a mix of exports and domestic demand. The economy is lead by state owned companies, though they are being re-sized and reformed in favor of a growing private sector. The state owned banks keep a close watch over the economy and foreign exchange is highly regulated.
Describe the state of Foreign Affairs: Has close relations with some neighbors such as Pakistan, Mongolia and North Korea, but is disliked by most others due to its aggressive territorial claims. Also has close ties with many African nations as China seeks to fill the void left by Western powers as they withdrew from the continent during the cold war.
Describe the state of the nation internally: With a aging population and a growing number of citizen no longer content with a life of menial work, China faces many social problems. Protests are becoming more common especial concerning corruption and environmental degradation and the state is forced to make concessions to appease the people. The communist party is trying to sell itself and its current model of "accountable authoritarianism" though it is yet unseen if the people are willing to buy.
