The Great Literary War (Sign-Ups/Open)

Postby The Thoth-ful » Mon Jul 08, 2013 9:32 pm

Based on an old RP I remember that didn't get off the ground.

Literature is a strong thing. The characters, plots, they affect people. People believe in them, and that belief is a magic stronger than any other. It brings the characters to life, and they all live immortally in a great, endless Library tucked away in a pocket universe. Every literary character in history lives there, but they are getting restless. A rift is developing. Some see that they are far more powerful than normal humans and want to find a way to escape the Library and take over the mortal world. Others, however, wish to retain their positions in the Library. This rift is not classic "Heroes vs. Villains." There are many heroes who wish to leave the Library and live in the mortal world, and there are many villains who see an opportunity to gain control of the Library by squashing the rebellion. Sides are being drawn. The characters, as always sticking to their written personalities, are deciding which side is best for them. A war is starting. Which side will you be on?

Basic info

The Library
First off, it's about the size of a large city. Think all of New York City maybe, with all the multiple boroughs. It contains billions, if not trillions of books that are displayed upon an endless maze of bookshelves that form rooms and houses that the Characters live in. The overall layout of the Library changes everyday, though these basic, small areas remain generally the same. There are shops, and restaurants, and villages. For the most part, Characters of similar Genres live in the same area. Every Character has duties and jobs that keep society running. The Library is ruled by a small Council of classic literary Characters (Hero, Villain, and Side Character alike.) The Council has become just as divided as the rest of the Library. Some want to invade the Mortal World, others want to stay where they are, but they all have an agenda.

The War:
There are two sides. The Rebels, who want to break into the real world for one reason or another (either to take it over, or just to live there) and The Character Armada, who want to remain in the Library.

Magic and the Like
Magic, of course, exists in the Library. Basically, whatever powers a character has in his or her respective novel they have in the Library. Just don't be OP.

Accepted Characters:

The Rebellion

Heroes:

by Utceforp
Character Name: Gilgamesh the King
Novel of Origin: The Epic of Gilgamesh
Side in the War: Rebels
Brief Literary Bio: Gilgamesh was the fifth king of Uruk, a city in what is now Iraq, and one third human, two thirds god. (Don't think to hard about how that's possible) Gilgamesh passed his time by generally oppressing his people and forcing woman to sleep with him on their wedding night. (No, really) His people prayed to the gods, asking for them to distract Gilgamesh from oppressing them somehow. So, the gods created Enkidu, a wild man who lived in the forest and was the equal of Gilgamesh. A trapper in the woods spots Enkidu, and Enkidu ruined his traps, causing the trapper to travel to Uruk and complain to Gilgamesh about the man. Gilgamesh sends a woman to "tame" Enkidu. (A process which, surprisingly, involves a lot of sex. No, really) After a few days, Enkidu's animal friends are scared of him, and having no other option but to become a "civilized" person, he decides to go to Uruk. On the way there, he learns of Gilgamesh's habit of forcing himself on woman on their wedding night, and as a reasonable person decides "that's not okay". Enkidu travels to Uruk and blocks Gilgamesh from entering a wedding chamber, then a fierce battle ensues, ending with Enkidu admitting Gilgamesh's superior strength, and the two becoming friends and Gilgamesh becoming a much better person. Gilgamesh proposes an adventure, he asks Enkidu if he would like to join him on a quest to kill the monster known as Humbaba. They do, as well as cut down a giant tree that the monster was guarding, cementing their friendship. Later, for reasons lost to time, the goddess Ishtar makes advances towards Gilgamesh. Ishtar is a violent goddess of war, and while she is beautiful, Gilgamesh knew that her lovers tended to suffer horrible fates, and he generally ignored her. Ishtar, upset, asks her father for the monstrous "bull of heaven" to take revenge on Gilgamesh, threatening to initiate a zombie apocalypse (No, really) if he doesn't give it to her. Ishtar takes the bull of heaven to Uruk, where it spreads destruction and havoc. Gilgamesh and Enkidu slay the bull, without any divine assistance, the fight culminating with Enkidu throwing the bull's "hindquarters" into Ishtar's face. (No, really) The city rejoices, but Enkidu has an ominous dream. The gods decide that one of the heroes must die for killing both Humbaba and the Bull of Heaven. (While both were monstrous, they were created by the gods to serve certain purposes, and killing them had upset them) They pick Enkidu, who dies a slow death while cursing everyone responsible for him meeting Gilgamesh, though he regrets his curses before he dies, blessing them instead. Gilgamesh holds a lavish and expensive funeral for Enkidu, ending with a river burial. Gilgamesh, having seen the death of his closest friend, fears his own mortality and curses his mortal third. He decides to find the legendary Utnapishtim, an immortal man who he thinks might be able to teach him the secret of eternal life. After a long journey, he arrives at the end of the earth and crosses a tunnel through a mountain range to reach the sea, which he crosses to meet Utnapishtim. Utnapishtim tells him that his gift was a unique one, and that trying to avoid death only stops you from enjoying life. However, to prove his point, he challenges Gilgamesh to stay awake for a long time. When Gilgamesh fails, Utnapishtim tells him that he cannot conquer death if he cannot even conquer sleep. However, as Gilgamesh is leaving, disappointed, Utnapishtim's wife convinces him to take a small pity on Gilgamesh, and he tells him where he can find a plant that, while not making him immortal, can make him young again. Gilgamesh does not use the plant right away, intending to test it on another person before using it himself, but as he is bathing it is eaten by a snake. Gilgamesh is saddened by the futility of his efforts, but as he returns to Uruk he sees the massive walls he has built around the city, and realizes that he will be immortal, by being remembered for what he did in life in stories and legends.
Library Bio: Gilgamesh is one of the oldest characters in the library, if not the oldest, and those few that came before him can be counted on one hand, and have all faded long ago. While for much of his four thousand years of life in the library, he was forgotten and faded away, within the last one hundred years he has re-emerged due to his story being found and told once again. He is the oldest character still in the library, and while not a council member, he has considerable influence over both the council and the people of the library. He joined the rebels because A: he wants to explore the world outside and slay their monsters and B: His homeland hasn't been the best place to live recently, and he wants to change that.
Job/Position in the Library: Celebrity/Advisor to the council
Personality: Gilgamesh is an explorer, an adventurer and a hero at heart. He always wants to slay monsters, find new people, push boundaries that others have set. He gets bored easily if he is not doing these things, and is not the nicest person in the world if he isn't doing something exciting. Despite this, his adventures and four thousand year life have given him a certain wisdom, and he is more subdued and intelligent when he needs to be.
Abilities/Skills/Powers: Being two thirds god (Again, don't think about it too hard) he is superhumanly strong. As well, being an archetypical hero, he is quite clever, and he slayed the monster Humbaba with trickery rather than brute force.
Weapons/Equipment: An axe and a sword.

by Cryptonius
Character Name: Nancy Drew
Novel of Origin: Nancy Drew series
Side in the War: Rebel
Brief Literary Bio: Nancy's routine in all of her books is solving various mysteries, and avoiding the many horrible perils that are constantly out to crush, maim, obliterate, explode, and generally destroy her. Seriously though, Nancy has an extremely impressive resume of solved cases under her belt. She's proven herself to be a worthy detective time and time again.
Library Bio: Though her true forte is solving mysteries, there are often far more detectives than there are mysteries within the library, so it can be difficult for her to allow really good unsolved cases to find her. However, Nancy, being something of a jack of all trades in the right situations, will frequently do small tasks for those in her section, whatever they might be, simply to make herself useful. Really, she would prefer to escape to the real world so that she might make herself useful to the people of Earth.
Job/Position in the Library: Private detective, and doer of various tasks that need doing.
Personality: Snarky, confident, and able to keep calm in tense situations due to experience. She is a very nice young woman, but she has her limits, and is not afraid to snap if pushed. Few situations can induce panic in Nancy.
Abilities/Skills/Powers: Excellent deduction and puzzle-solving skills, and an uncanny ability to unravel mysteries.
Weapons/Equipment: Standard detective equipment. Magnifying glass, fingerprint dusting kits, matches, a variety of instruments. She will often improvise tools and weapons using what is around her.

by The Thoth-ful
Character Name: John Jasper
Novel of Origin: The Mystery of Edwin Drood (By Charles Dickens)
Side in the War: Rebels
Brief Literary Bio (What your character did in their Novel): Choir master of Cloisterham Cathedral and Uncle to Edwin Drood, Jasper is a mentally unstable opium addict who harbors an obsession for one of his students, Miss Rosa Bud, who also happens to be Drood's fiance. Drood disappears one stormy Christmas Eve and all signs point to Jasper as the murderer. Here's where things get interesting. Before the true murderer of the book could be revealed, the author, Charles Dickens, died leaving the book unfinished.
Library Bio (What your character's been doing in the Library): Jasper (and actually all Characters from the Mystery of Edwin Drood and any other well known unfinished books) is an incredibly unstable Character. He has a sort of multiple personality disorder where his personality jumps back and forth between a number of possible "endings." Some days he's a poor choir master falsely accused of murder, other days he is a vicious sociopath who will carve down anyone in his way. He, and many other similar characters, was locked away in the Sylvia Plath Wing (a sort of institution for unstable characters.) This is actually because of the physical makeup of an unfinished character (which I'll describe in the Abilities section below.) Jasper has recently escaped the Sylvia Plath Wing and joined the Rebellion, hoping that breaking into the real world will allow him to finish his story.
Job/Position in the Library: Mental Patient
Personality: Unstable, varying. Just pretty psychotic in general.
Abilities/Skills/Powers: As an unfinished character, his body is as unstable as his mind. A single touch of Jasper's hand can cause another character to become unstable, slowly falling apart at the seams leaving a trail of ink and letters behind them until they are destroyed. This actually wipes them from existence and from the memory of people in the real world.
Weapons/Equipment: Himself, a cane. He likes to strangle people with scarves...

by Utceforp
Character Name: Gandalf the Grey (Also goes by Gandalf the White, Olorin, Mythrandir, and many other names. Tolkien liked giving people names)
Novel of Origin: The Hobbit (I would say Lord of the Rings, but I want to focus on the stuff from the Hobbit, since I haven't completely read through the entirety of LOTR, though I've read The Hobbit and The Silmarillion)
Side in the War: Character Armada
Brief Literary Bio: Basically, he's the Middle Earth equivalent of an angel, a god-like being sent to help the people of Middle Earth from evil. He helped a hobbit named Bilbo and some dwarves defeat a dragon. He died and came back to life more powerful, then helped another hobbit beat an evil dark lord before returning to his home, Valinor. I was a little lazy on the bio, since it's such a well known story, but if you want more detail, you can go here.
Library Bio: Gandalf has joined the council in an attempt to stop it from becoming as evil as the rebels they are fighting, having personally seen how greed can corrupt people, with or without magic. Because the power he wielded as Gandalf the White is no longer needed, the Ainur who sent him into the world have restricted his powers once again, and he is once again Gandalf the Grey. He is also regarded as the unofficial spokesman for the citizens of the library in the "fantasy" genre.
Job/Position in the Library: Council Member (I guess it's a matter of opinion whether or not something is a "classic", but considering that every single fantasy world created in the last century or so is at least partially influenced by Tolkien, I would argue that most of his works are classics.)
Personality: Gandalf is wise and cunning, and is kind to everyone he meets. He is slightly undignified for somebody of his position and abilities, he smokes, he carves signs into people's doors, he sets off fireworks. However, despite seeming like a cheery old man, he is quite serious and professional when the time comes, and he is a skilled warrior and wizard.
Abilities/Skills/Powers:

Magical Abilities
-manipulating light via magic

-Moving objects with magic

-Countering the spells of others

-Summoning lightning

-Conjuring magical shields

-Summoning fire

-Causing destructive magical shockwaves by slamming his staff into the ground

He is also skilled with his sword, Glamdring, and is very wise and knowledgeable about a variety of subjects.
Weapons/Equipment: Glamdring, an elven sword that glows blue when Orcs are near. His staff, which allows him to perform magic.

by OrigamiMaster
Character Name: King Arthur
Novel of Origin: King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table
Side in the War: The Character Armada (Or if you want me to join the rebellion, I will.)
Brief Literary Bio (What your character did in their Novel): King Arthur was the son of King Uther Pendragon. His parents died at an early age. He was blessed a ton of times by some elves, Merlin, and Druids and other magic things. Then he was adopted by a family who didn't know that he was the rightful king of Camelot. His brother asked Arthur to get a sword for him, and Arthur did so, but got a sword that said, "HEY GUYS! ALL HAIL ME! I AM THE KING OF ALL YOU GUYS!". He brought it to his brother without reading that. A short while later, he became King Arthur, and was actually respected by everyone. He married this person who is named Guinevere. He also gets an awesome sword that kills all. He ends up dying in the end, so it ends badly.
Library Bio (What your character's been doing in the Library): He has quickly became rather high in power. He has found that he and Morgan Le Fey just 'don't get along'.
Job/Position in the Library: Council person
Personality: Bold, willing to do what's right, caring.
Abilities/Skills/Powers: An awesome scabbard and sword. Also blessed by mythical thingys.
Weapons/Equipment: Scabbard, Sword, armor, etc. Stuff a king would have.

by The Order of Chaos Chao
Character Name: V

Side in the War: Armada
Brief Literary Bio (What your character did in their Novel): Used any method necessary to free people from a tyrant (Sound familiar?)

Job/Position in the Library: Nightwatchman
Personality: Calm, intelligent, neurotic, and vengeful
Abilities/Skills/Powers: Acrobatic, charismatic, and bulletproof. Because Ideas are bulletproof.
Weapons/Equipment: Knives, poison, and roses

by OrigamiMaster
Character Name: Yoda
Novel of Origin: Star Wars IV, V, VI (There is actually a book version. It's also from the Yoda Chronicles, Jedi Quest, The Jedi Apprentice, and basically anything before Star Wars VI and after his birth (A LONG time ago)
Appearance (Pictures Preferred): (Will get in a bit, but a force-sensitive green guy who is like 3 feet tall with long ears. He also has a cane.
Side in the War: N/A Doesen't want to leave the library (What place would be have with people who are very much not green with pointy ears?), but likes the Hero's motivation. Just 'maintain order'.
Brief Literary Bio (What your character did in their Novel): Well, he was trained by this guy I can't hope to spell right, and then Yoda became part of the Jedi Order. He trained a bunch of people well, but didn't notice that something wasn't quite right with Empire Palpatene. Palpatene the decided that he would destroy the Jedi Order. He sucseeded, and Yoda went to this swampy place called Dagobah. Then this person named Luke came, and he decided to train there. Yoda taught him well, and helped him out with his ship.
Library Bio (What your character's been doing in the Library): He is on the Council, but is slowly breaking off because of their warlike intentions. He is gonna be a vigilante who fights for the Rebels because he wants to side with the opposite of the warmongerers on like the 1st post in this RP, I think.
Job/Position in the Library: Council member right now, but not for most of the RP.
Personality: Funny or serious, and generally nice.
Abilities/Skills/Powers: He can infuriate people with his backwards talking, and can use the Force.
Weapons/Equipment: Well, in some games he has a personal chair he rides on, but I don't think I'll use that. I think Yoda will have his awesome green lightsaber and a cane.

by Cryptonius
Character Name: Geralt of Rivia
Novel of Origin: Witcher Saga
Appearance: http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb2 ... r-1-lg.jpg
Side in the War: Armada
Brief Literary Bio: Geralt is a witcher, a monster hunter specialized for his job almost straight from birth. Geralt was subjected to heavy mutations at a young age, increasing his strength, dexterity, and disease resistance vastly, but also sterilizing him in the process as well as removing all pigmentation from his body. He is one of the most notable witchers within his universe, having played a part in numerous incidents, including removing the curse from a princess turned monster, saving a village from a djinn, and an incident in which Geralt killed multiple people, seemingly in cold blood. This occurrence earned him the nickname The Butcher, though some also will refer to him as The White Wolf, regarding his silvery white hair, as well as some of his demeanor.
Library Bio: Geralt has carved out a place in the library's society teaching what he knows of swordplay in the fantasy section, though when he cannot find any students he will often work at a tavern bordering on the science fiction section. The same tavern that he will drink at on days when he has nothing better to do.
Job/Position in the Library: Instructor of swordplay, and frequent bartender.
Personality: Geralt can often come off as extremely reserved, or even cold to passers by, but a closer look reveals a dry sense of humor, a strong moral grounding, and patience for the people and ideas he believes deserve it. He is a good listener, but there are times when he simply needs to speak to someone close to him. Geralt generally prefers to stay neutral in most political situations, considering such squabbles to not be something that a witcher should get involved with.
Abilities/Skills/Powers: Like all witchers, Geralt is able to use six signs signs: Igni, Aard, Axii, Yrden, Quen, and Heliotrop. Each are essentially already fairly simple spells boiled down even more into hand gestures accompanied by concentration. He is also resistant to most diseases.
Weapons/Equipment: Two swords: one iron, and one silver. The iron one being preferred for fighting humans and beasts, and the silver for monsters, which would be sensitive to the material in his world. However, his normally invaluable silver sword sees much less use in the library than it would in his universe. Geralt's silver Witcher's medallion has found itself in the same situation. He still carries both as he considers them to be part of his identity.

by The Thoth-ful
Character Name: Morgan le Fay
Novel of Origin: Arthurian Mythos

Brief Literary Bio: The half-sister of King Arthur, Morgan tried time and time again to seize control of Camelot.

She is, however, thankful for the Rebellion as it provides her an opportunity to stage a coup and seize power from the Council, gaining full control over the Library.

Personality: Cruel, greedy, paranoid, easily feels betrayed, more than a little insane.

During the Song of Creation (the Ainulindale) his strange thoughts produced Discord, marring the fabric of reality even before its creation. Through pride, malice and a desire to dominate the wills of others he fell into darkness. He became the first Dark Lord, and was named Morgoth Bauglir by Fëanor after the theft of the Silmarils. Thus he was known in Beleriand and Middle-earth forever after. Not satisfied with the marring he had brought in the Discord, he proceeded to infect Arda with decay, as well as spreading a purely material empire upon the earth. He corrupted many peoples, among them the Ñoldor of Eldamar, leading to their revolt and The War of the Great Jewels. He then corrupted the hearts of Men with lies and deceitful gifts, until many worshiped him, and all had a seed of darkness within them which he often used. When The Host of Valinor finally defeated him at the end of the War of Wrath, Melkor was chained, and thrust through the Door of Night into the Void. Yet the Darkness that he had begun in the Ainulindalë continued on through his most devoted lieutenant Sauron, who continued to wage war on the Free Peoples of the world for thousands of years and was not defeated until March 25, 3019 some 6500 years later. Character Name:Colonel Eric Cain
Novel of Origin: Marines
Side in the War: neutral/opportunist
Brief Literary Bio (What your character did in their Novel):Erik Cain joined the marines to get off death row. The deal was simple; enlist to fight in space and he would be pardoned for all his crimes.
In the 23rd Century, assault troops go to war wearing AI-assisted, nuclear-powered armor, but it is still men and blood that win battles. From one brutal campaign to the next, Erik and his comrades fight an increasingly desperate war over the resource rich colony worlds that have become vital to the economies of Earth's exhausted and despotic Superpowers. As Erik rises through the ranks he finally finds a home, first with the marines who fight at his side and later among the colonists - men and women who have dared to leave everything behind to build a new society on the frontier, one where the freedoms and rights lost long ago on Earth are preserved.
Library Bio (What your character's been doing in the Library): Cain has been in the library for a relatively short time. He arrived less than three years ago and has been working for various characters in the library doing various tasks. He hated fame the first time around, and now just wants a quiet life. But a quite life never made for a good story ^_^
Personality: Very determined, very loyal, dislikes politicians.
Abilities/Skills/Powers: Extrodinary tactical skills, proficient in firearms and bladed weapons.
Weapons/Equipment: Mk.IV assualt armor. Toren assualt rifle.

Character Name: Xu Xian
Novel of Origin: Legend of the White snake
Appearance (Pictures Preferred):
Side in the War: neutral/opportunist
Brief Literary Bio (What your character did in their Novel):
Lü Dongbin, one of the Eight Immortals, disguises himself as a man selling tangyuan at the Broken Bridge near the West Lake in Hangzhou. A boy called Xu Xian buys some tangyuan from Lü Dongbin, not knowing that the tangyuan are actually immortal pills. He does not feel hungry for the next three days after eating the tangyuan and is so puzzled that he goes back to ask the seller. Lü Dongbin laughs and carries Xu Xian to the bridge and flips him upside down, causing Xu to vomit out the pills into the lake.

There is a white snake spirit in the lake, who was practising Taoist magical arts in the hope of becoming an immortal after centuries of training and cultivation. The white snake eats the pills vomited out by Xu Xian and she gains 500 years worth of magic powers. The white snake is grateful to Xu Xian and their fates became intertwined. There is another terrapin (or tortoise) spirit also training inside the lake and he did not manage to consume any of the pills, so he becomes very jealous of the white snake. One day, the white snake sees a beggar on the bridge, who has caught a green snake and wants to dig out the snake's gall and sell it. The white snake transforms into a woman and buys the green snake from the beggar, saving the green snake's life. The green snake is grateful to the white snake and she regards the white snake as an older sister.

18 years later, during the Qingming Festival, the white and green snakes transform themselves into two young women, called Bai Suzhen . They travel to Hangzhou and meet Xu Xian at the Broken Bridge, and Xu lends them his umbrella because it is raining. Xu Xian and Bai Suzhen gradually fall in love with each other and are eventually married. They move to Zhenjiang and open a medicine shop there.

In the meantime, the terrapin spirit has accumulated enough powers to take human form, and he transforms into a Buddhist monk called Fahai . Fahai is still angry with Bai Suzhen and he plots to break up her relationship with Xu Xian. He approaches Xu Xian and tells Xu to let his wife drink realgar wine during the Duanwu Festival. Bai Suzhen unsuspectingly reveals her true form as a large white snake after drinking the wine and Xu Xian dies of shock after seeing that his wife is not human. Bai Suzhen and Xiaoqing travel to Mount Emei, where they brave danger to steal a magical herb that restores Xu Xian to life.
After coming back to life, Xu Xian still maintains his love for Bai Suzhen despite knowing her true identity. Fahai tries to separate them again so he captures Xu Xian and imprisons him in Jinshan Temple . Bai Suzhen and Xiaoqing fight with Fahai to rescue Xu Xian, and Bai uses her powers to flood the temple, drowning many innocent people in the process as well. However, Bai Suzhen's powers are limited because she is already pregnant with Xu Xian's child so she fails to save her husband. Xu Xian later manages to escape from Jinshan Temple and he reunites with his wife in Hangzhou, where Bai Suzhen gives birth to their son, Xu Mengjiao. Fahai soon tracks them down and he defeats Bai Suzhen and imprisons her in Leifeng Pagoda.
20 years later, Xu Mengjiao tops the imperial examination and returns home in glory to visit his parents. At the same time, Xiaoqing, who escaped when Bai Suzhen was captured by Fahai, goes to Jinshan Temple to confront Fahai and succeeds in defeating him. Bai Suzhen is freed from Leifeng Pagoda and reunites with her husband and son, while Fahai flees and hides inside the stomach of a crab. There is a saying that a crab's internal fat is orange because it resembles the color of Fahai's kasaya.

Character Name:"Cthulhu"
Novel of Origin:H.P Lovecraft's "Call of Cthulhu"
Side in the War:Neutral
Brief Literary Bio (What your character did in their Novel):The most detailed descriptions of Cthulhu in "The Tale of Cthulhu" are based on statues of the creature. One, constructed by an artist after a series of baleful dreams, is said to have "yielded simultaneous pictures of an octopus, a dragon, and a human caricature A pulpy, tentacled head surmounted a grotesque and scaly body with rudimentary wings." Another, recovered by police from a raid on a murderous cult, "represented a monster of vaguely anthropoid outline, but with an octopus-like head whose face was a mass of feelers, a scaly, rubbery-looking body, prodigious claws on hind and fore feet, and long, narrow wings behind."
When the creature finally appears, the story says that the "thing cannot be described," but it is called "the green, sticky spawn of the stars", with "flabby claws" and an "awful squid-head with writhing feelers." Johansen's phrase "a mountain walked or stumbled" gives a sense of the creature's scale (this is corroborated by Wilcox's dreams, which "touched wildly on a gigantic thing 'miles high' which walked or lumbered about"). Cthulhu is depicted as having a worldwide cult centered in Arabia, with followers in regions as far-flung as Greenland and Louisiana. There are leaders of the cult "in the mountains of China" who are said to be immortal. Cthulhu is described by some of these cultists as the "great priest" of "the Great Old Ones who lived ages before there were any men, and who came to the young world out of the sky."The cult is noted for chanting its horrid phrase or ritual: "Ph'nglui mglw'nafh C'thulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn," which translates as "In his house at R'lyeh dead C'thulhu waits dreaming." This is often shortened to "C'thulhu fhtagn," which might possibly mean "C'thulhu waits," "C'thulhu dreams," or "C'thulhu waits dreaming."One cultist, known as Tim Sonnek, provides the most elaborate information given in Lovecraft's fiction about Cthulhu. The Great Old Ones, according to Castro, had come from the stars to rule the world in ages past. They were not composed altogether of flesh and blood. They had shape but that shape was not made of matter. When the stars were right, They could plunge from world to world through the sky; but when the stars were wrong, They could not live. But although They no longer lived, They would never really die. They all lay in stone houses in Their great city of R'lyeh, preserved by the spells of mighty Cthulhu for a glorious resurrection when the stars and the earth might once more be ready for Them.
Library Bio (What your character's been doing in the Library):When the war started Cthulhu decided to stay neutral and decide which faction to join either the armada or the rebels. Cthulhu is one of the most powerful creature in the library and many feared his power. He is currently living in the marine life section of the library with his faction. Also Cthulhu is waiting for a key moment in the war to join, but until that happens Cthulhu is Neutral.
Job/Position in the Library:Leader of the Great Old Ones.
Personality:Evil
Abilities/Skills/Powers:Wings to Fly,Can breathe Underwater,Gargantuan Size,Can fill a man's mind with Horror and Insanity,Can spawn multiple creatures like mini Cthulhu minions, also as being a god he has godly powers.

I might enjoy this, but are you a puppet of someone? Or is there any previous experience you've had at hosting threads?

Character Name: Geralt of Rivia
Novel of Origin: Witcher Saga
Appearance: http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20130528105356/ifa-witcher/images/7/7b/The_witcher-1-lg.jpg

As a thespian I will gladly allow plays. As for Graphic Novels, it'll be up to my discretion. I'll happily allow V for Vendetta since I have a high reguard for it but that's a major exception. Any graphic novel or comic must be of HIGH literary significance. No Kick-Ass or, as much as I hate to say it, Scott Pilgrim.

App:
Character Name: Tobias Fangor
Novel of Origin: Animorphs series
Appearance (Pictures Preferred):
Side in the War: Is neutral, doesn't care, or N/A an option :p (if not, probably Rebel)
Brief Literary Bio (What your character did in their Novel): Along with a group of about 5 other people, he saved the world from being conquered by grey, parasitic, slug things that control people known as Yeerks.
Library Bio (What your character's been doing in the Library): Just been hanging out for the most part, keeping to himself and basically keeping out of the recent conflict unless he somehow gets dragged into it.
Job/Position in the Library: I dunno.........
Personality: Quiet, loner. Keeps to himself most of the time.
Abilities/Skills/Powers: able to morph into other animals and/or human form (though the latter probably won't show up)
Weapons/Equipment: Uh.......

Not sure how well this will do, or if it'll even be accepted. If it's not, I got other characters I can work with :p

Animorphs! :D

Tobias is one of my favorite characters, sorry :p

Mine too, which is why I picked him :p :D

All characters are accepted. I do want another character on the Council for my character to play off of, primarily one on the rebellion side. Any of those characters need to be CLASSIC characters. I'm talking Dickens, Wells, Doyle- that type.
