Camp Half-Blood (IC/OPEN)

Postby Pragia » Tue Apr 23, 2013 10:23 pm

This is the OOC

Apollo's gleaming sun rose over the camp, light reflecting off the shimmering cabins of camp Half-Blood. For centuries this has been a place where demigods can train and live in peace, a sanctuary for the children of Olympus. The recent rise of the Titans has been made apparent after Thalia's Tree, the life force of a camper used to keep the camp safe from monsters, was poisoned. A quest made by Percy Jackson and Annabeth Chase had resulted in the curing of the tree, and now these heros are off on missions to prepare for the coming storm.

Camp was rather lively this morning, demigods moving freely between the dining field and training in various ways. It was a cool day on the sound, but no rain to be seen, only a couple clouds floating high in the sky could be seen. Demigods fought, learned, and challenged themselves daily to become this generations heros. This is where our story begins, in a lively morning at a camp for demigods in Pugent Sound, New York.

Thomas woke up early in cabin 6, 6:30 exactly, as he had planned. He'd learned that getting an early start on the day allowed him more free time later. He saw that he was first awake in the cabin, and it was his duty as counselor to make sure his brothers and sisters were awake. He walked to the front after putting on a pair of Khakis and a black leather jacket over a camp Half-Blood tee-shirt. He took his pocket knife and put it into his pocket, near certain one form of training or another would need it. He yelled loud enough to wake the entire cabin

"Wake up, Athena cabin, y'all ready for the first day of Summer Session!?"
He normally wasn't one to yell, but it was his job and he needed to make sure Athena will still be the most organized and structured in Annabeth's absence. He waited to make sure his cabin was up-and-at-'em before he could go.

Derik had woken up before the sun rose. He was up at four, and he stayed in his bunk tinkering with some watch."Why don't you work right?"He said in a thick German accent while looking about it. He shrugged and put it away. He looked out his window and smiled."The first day of summer.
I thought I could do this again, but I have too much on my plate. I have to actually give up on this. Sorry everyone.

In Demeter's cabin people awoke gradually, and some struggled with others to get them awake at all. Anna did not need to be told twice, because of her being a soft sleeper. She felt tired, but now that the sun had shone its yellow face she knew that she would not be able to sleep. She walked to mirror, grabbed a brush, and dragged it through her long, brown, hair.

"Summer sessions begin today! It is time to wake up," she heard some boy in the next room state. After finishing brushing her hair and watering some plants under a growth light, she walked back in to the main sleeping quarters and saw that everyone was slowy and dozily making their way to a line. She walked over to the line and got a spot behind two twins, whose names she always forgot. They were not entirely in the line properly either. The cabin head strolled down the chain of people and made the twins become part of a single file line.

Everyone had made their way to line by now, and they were ready to exit the cabin. All the plants appeared to be in order, everyone one was awake-ish, and the sun shone down brightly. Sunlight was gleaming in the dew like a golden glaze. Flowers grew in the windowsill in a rampant fire of scarlet and orange hue, distracting but for a moment Anna Leah from her thoughts as they marched out the door.

Another day, another summer session, and another year of training. This should be interesting.

Hephaestus Cabin was beginning to shape up. After a quick coating of grease on the machinery, the inhabitants lined behind Beckendorf with Derik right behind. The cabin then went on its way to breakfast behind a few cabins. Derik checked his pocket watch and shook his head."Late by 2.6 seconds."He muttered to himself."We need to be better suited for tomorrow. I hope this isn't a bad sign for the rest of the year."He whispered to Beckendorf. Charles only laughed.
I thought I could do this again, but I have too much on my plate. I have to actually give up on this. Sorry everyone.

The Apollo cabin looked like any other cabin when the sun staretd to rise but the moment the sunlight hit it, the cabin looked as if it was made of solid gold, gleaming so much it was hard to look at. Inside the cabin, it was dark and quiet with most of cabinmates still asleep. Lillian sat on her bed having already woken up before the sun. A pair of headphones plugged her ears, playing soft music while she scribbed in a sketchbook absently. When sunlight filtered through the windows and the cracks in the door, she looked up and smiled. She had only been in the camp for a week but she already felt liek she was home. Lillian stood up and dressed before sitting back on her bed as teh other cabin occupants staretd to wake.

The Ares cabin was quiet.Swords and weapons of all kinds line the walls of the cabin,as the sun gave off a faint light through the red curtains that covered the windows. Victor stood up and got dressed. While getting ready he noticed all the other cabin members were still asleep "No no we can't have that can we?" he whispered,he got a trumpet which was placed on a table to the left of the room and started to play it "Alright son's and daughters of Ares get your asses off of the beds and head to breakfast then training! we got a long day ahead of us and i won't allow people to sleep while there is training to be done." he yelled. As he left out the door heading to the training grounds skipping breakfast on his way.Training was essential to the Ares cabin after all they are of the blood of the god of war, they have a duty to be the strongest in camp half-blood.They are the first line of defense if the camp should ever get attacked by monsters and what not.

Natasha yawned. She had woken up a long time ago. She was a light sleeper, and so the very first rays of the sun woke her up. The time between the yawn and waking up was spent in introspect, a tradition she had started ever since she had come to Camp Half- Blood. It was a beautiful morning. Apollo seems happy today, she thought to herself. Aphrodite's cabin looked exceptionally cheerful as the golden rays of the sun really accentuated the magenta, pink and purple of the walls. She got off her boudouir and stretched. "Allez allez tout le monde, réveillez!" she commanded the rest of the sleepyheads to wake up. Clapping her hands she ventured across the main aisle and drew the pink slender curtains to flood the room with light. The sweet smell of perfume wafted through her nose and she inhaled deeply. Time to get ready.

The cool shadows retreated back as the sun rose in the sky. William groaned lazily and kept his eyes closed, but the cabin leader was quite adamant in having them all awaken. Since he was-as far as he was aware-the only child of his father, his father had no cabin, and he was in the Hermes cabin. If he had his own cabin, he'd probably just sleep through the day. That wouldn't happen here, however, given the amount of people and the cabin leaders badgering. Sighing, William pulled himself out of his sleep and readied himself for the day. William stepped out afterwards, along with some fellow cabin members who engaged him in mundane conversation, and headed for breakfast.

Silva came to a stop just outside the Athena cabin as Thomas started to yell out for the rest of the cabin to wake up. They had settled into a system. Thomas dealt with everything except Capture the Flag Strategy, the Duty Roster, and they had an informal agreement that Silva would accept any duels offered by a camper who came back from a quest. It ended up working well. Silva wasn't much of a people person, he preferred to spend his time training. Of course, as an Athena Camper he had mastered tactics and generalship at an early age, so he knew how to rally soldiers, and the like.

What Silva was doing outside of the cabin was his morning run. Five kilometers, with a break for crunches and push-ups at the two and a half kilometer mark. He stood in front of the Cabin, a faint sheen of sweat on his forehead as Athena campers spilled out and began to make their way to breakfast. Silva waited until Thomas came out.

"So I heard rumors of Capture the Flag soon. You know anything about that?"

She slowly opened the door of the chamber and ventured outside. She wore a turquoise tank top that accentuated her in all the right places and a pair of jeans. She looked around to see if anyone was there yet. 'no one' she sighed. She made her way across the courtyard to a small clearing in the woods. Carrying a dagger with her was now a habit. It was as if the dagger was an extension of hers. She took in the sounds of nature and relished the gurgling sound of a stream nearby, as she walked towards the clearing. She picked a tree and pulled out her dagger stealthily. Focussing on a single apple that hung high on it twist branches, she concentrated, burrowing her brows deeply, estimating. Faster than the swoop of an eagle in a flurry of motion, she threw the dagger with deadly precision and it pierced the apple, bringing down with the dagger and impeding itself on the ground. Smiling, she picked the apple and the dagger up, and took a bite out of the succulent apple.

Hastur Marshall
Hastor smiled and swung his axe in a wide arc as a training dummy in the shape of a Hellhound came into it; the furrow cut was deep and would've been fatal. He wiped his head, and prepared for another, but then thought better of it and got a drink of water. As much as he enjoyed fighting and training, he knew there was value in taking a break.. every once in awhile.
Victor Newman, his brother in arms, was about, and Hastur smiled again after his break and came to him.
"Hey there Victor," he said, sticking out his arm for a friendly hug, but his voice strong, "are you up for a duel?"

"Well you know how it is as a son of Ares i am always up for a duel." He smirked as he drew his spear "Better ready your self cause this is gonna be one hell of a battle." he laughed while straightening his chest plate and helm and getting into his battle stance.

"As usual, you're quite confident," said Hastur smiling slightly, "Let's see if you can justify your confidence. Be careful now, eh?"
With that Marshall moved quickly for one with an axe, the blade coming upwards for a strike that would leave him wide open- or so Victor might think. In fact, he had more than enough control to switch to a side strike in midswing.

Biting on her apple, she walked back to the camp thinking about what all could she do today. There were rumours of a contest. Maybe she could ask Charles, her protector about it. Her intentions clear in she made her way back to camp. She suddenly heard the clink of metal emanating from nearby. Her interest tweaked, she ventured to find the the source. And there, by Ares' cabin she saw two boys preparing to fight. She smiled. She liked to watch the Ares boys fight, she always did. One always learns something from them. Plus they're cute, she smirked. "Hello boys.." she said sweetly, but not sweet enough to be charmspeak.

Was all Victor said before he charged Hastur quickly moving around him trying to distort and catch him off guard.

As the Demeter cabin gathered to eat, Anna sat next to her brothers and sisters and listened intently. Beside her was Jason Grates, a fellow Demeter Camper, who was enjoying a soggy mass of pancakes while discussing the competition this year. She couldn't help, but think how uncomfortable her shirt was today. It was cotton, earthen brown, and the color as he shorts, yet, it felt scratching today. She decided to ignore it and listened to the conversation around her.

"I think we got a fair shot at winning some races this year. I've got make sure my skills are up to par though. How are you, sister?"

Anna was not expecting to be noticed, nor was she expecting to be addressed directly. Still, sheepishly and with her high pitched voice she spoke to him. "Ohh, I've am ok. I probably need to train more than you. I've never been very athletic."

"That's good. Anyways, I figure that the other cabins are about half down. They won't be as to function as well."

"I don't think we will be any better off either. Still we are not very good," James Walter said. James was one of the most athletic in the cabin, even if that wasn't saying much.

Anna was relived to see that it was just another day. Everyone was in good spirits, and she was ready for the training of the day. Perchance, there would be something new and exciting. This conservation continued for awhile, but she had lost interest and instead was wrapped in thoughts.

Noticing what the boy was about to do, she immediately used charmspeak. Down with your weapons. Now. Do you have no honour?! Attack from front, not when he is distracted.
She was more Athenian in thought. She never believed in cheating in wars or combat, strategy was different. This was just not giving your opponent a fair chance

Anna left them to their chit-chat, and went off to train. Three years she had been here and yet the only weapons she was able to use well were small daggers that could be used to stab, slash, or throw. A sword she could use if need be, but they were still awkward to her. It was this she was going to train for when she saw three figures at the field already. One, a girl, stood there as two boys sparred. She was certain they were not about to notice her and stood a minute in the breeze. Best to wait.

After they are done, I'll practice my sword. They will fight and tire. Then after that, the field will fill up. I ought to be able to practice and not draw attention to myself.

She didn't wait long.

Jason awoke from his lower bunk that morning as he did everyday, sleeping through whatever racket his brothers and sisters made before getting up 10 minutes later. By now everyone had left, leaving just him, and his friend. "Griff? Where are you?" he asked openly, before a medium-large dog, both black and white bellowed out from under a bed across the room and jumped on him. Happy he pushed him off, "I've got to go train, want to come with me?" He asked. His friend barked excitedly. With that Jason retrieved his shield, a large one handed circular item, and his sword, one of the larger variants available, and made his way outside, dressed in his green sleeveless shirt and jeans as normal, Griff following shortly behind.

'Great, missed breakfast,' Jason complained as he made it to training, where he saw some of his camp had already began sparring; victor had picked a fight with someone he had yet to make acquaintances, just how he had been for the past few years. Others had been sparring too, but Jason decided to start off lightly and begin with training dummies.

he pressed the button, and five dummies in the form of various creatures, flew at him with great speed. Jason picked up a light jog, moving towards them before colliding with the nearest foe, using his shield to knock the enemy far out of the path as he swiped downwards on the second, leaving a fatal gash down the side. Kicking it down he kept moving, performing swipes on the arms of the third before a quick decapitation and easily thrusting his blade into the chest of the fourth. 'Not as good as last time...' he thought. 'Wait, wheres the fifth?' A growl was hear behind him and Griff tore into the final dummy, who had taken advantage of Jason's lack of maneuverability, but Griff had had that weakness covered. His dog looked at him, Jason laughed and said "Four out of five ain't bad, besides I was leaving him for you!" Before signalling for him to follow him to the main dueling area.

Looking around briefly he found Victor. He approached him, before saying "What happened then?" He had noted the woman essentially command his friend into dropping his weaponry, "Never seen you stop mid fight before."

Having eaten a light breakfast of coffee, blackberries, and an egg n sausage sandwich, Silva made his way to the training field. A pair of Ares knuckledraggers were already on site. They appeared to be distracted by an Aphrodite Camper. A girl Silva didn't know stood off to the side uncomfortably.

Strike now! Kill them while they're not looking! A voice resounded in Silva's head. That would be Sun Tzu making his appearance. Death hadn't improved the ancient Chinese Warrior, who had a habit of making comments about the tactical situation at the worst time. Nobody else could hear him unless he wanted them too, but he more than made up for it by berating Silva every time he did something remotely wrong. Still, the ancient Chinaman had crammed thousands of years of Military History and Tactics into Silva's head, along with Mandarin Chinese. Plus he had a wicked and occasionally racist sense of humor. Usually delivered at totally wrong moments. Like calling the Japanese "sneaky dishonorable Nip bastards" when Silva was reading about Pearl Harbor.

The Athena camper unsheathed his sword and grabbed a bronze shield from the weapons rack. Despite an inherent distaste for anything Spartan, something that came from his Mother, Silva respected their combat prowess, and sought to emulate their fighting style. Much to the chagrin of Sun Tzu who thought Silva should fight like a Mandarin Warrior.

Silva spun, his sword cutting a brutal arc into the throat of a dummy, right between the chest plate and helmet. A gorget would slow the blade, but with such speed the force behind it would slice through the chain mail. Silva slammed his shield into an enemy, ignoring Sun Tzu's constant and mostly unfounded criticisms. Apparently Sun Tzu was a bit of a perfectionist.

Connor smiled as he scratched Gamble's metal head, causing the dog to lash his mechanical tail in happiness as they sat in the workshop while Connor looked over the schematics for Gamble that he had created over his spare time.

Automations were still a mystery to him, despite a long time studying Gamble's inner workings. He knew how they worked, but not what made them tick. He sighed and turned back to the shotgun which he was modifying.

It wasn't typical of a Demi-god to use a shotgun, but the camp kept them in the armoury and Connor eagerly snapped up the opptunity to have one.

This one was double barreled and he'd modified the ammo so one side fired celestial bronze pellets while the other fired regular steel pellets so it would work against anything if he fired both at once with his modifications, if they worked.

Connor stopped that line of thought, of course they would work! He had been raised in a gunshop, after all. Sighing, he turned back to the gun.

True teaching is not an accumulation of knowledge; it is an awaking of consciousness which goes through successive stages.

The best and shortest road towards knowledge of truth is Nature.

Social good is what brings peace to family and society.

She saw a kid presumabley from ares practising with dummies. What a dog that boy had! Ferocious.. Natasha loved it. The boy wasnt too bad either. Adressing victor, she said, "I am Natasha, daughter of Aphrodite." she said smiling. "Yes charmspeak is a rare ability, even amongst us progeny of love. Its quite strong. But i havent mastered it yet. I can only do basics, like telling and individual. I can't manage groups." She saw the cute boy with the dog approach and address Victor. As he was talking to victor, Natasha flipped her hair and was toying with her half eaten apple when she noticed the dog sniffing at her feet. "Hello.." she cooed and bent down. She petted him and the dog, who till a moment ago was ripping apart dummies, was now snuggling up to her. "quite a dog you have here" she said.

"A Aphrodite." He whispered to Jason "They have the power to charmspeak, now that you have seen me drop my weapon with out no will i suggest you forget what ever happened here got it? i have a reputation to keep you know." He smirked as he twirled his spear in the air "So Jason what did they have for breakfast? i seem to have forgotten to eat something before coming out here to train." Victor said as he rubbed his stomach felling hungry

"I have absolutely no idea." Jason shrugged, "Missed it completely, apparently you need to try harder next time to get me up!" Jason looked around, "When do you think the next capture the flag is on? I might ask some of the other campers for a duel, see how Griff and I fare to the others around here."

Before Victor could answer a woman approached his half brother and began talking. This woman seemed nice, and she didn't seem to fear Victor nor himself. Before he could signal his companion however he dashed over to the new woman and began sniffing around her. He moved over to stop him. "Come on Griff, don't annoy the lady!" He said to Griff, before turning his attention to the woman. "Sorry about him, he can get a little restless in the morning." he outstretched his hand, "Jason, son of Ares, this is Griff." He looked down at his friend, "Say hi Griff," to which his companion let out a resounding Woof! "I've never seen someone talk Victor into doing... well anything, quite a talent you have there, with that and your blade." he said, with his other hand pointing to her dagger and apple, which appeared to been pierced with great accuracy.

Any film can be improved with the addition of Morgan Freeman, even those with one already.
