Liberated Rijeka
The armoured column began its march, a land route was to be made to Trieste to link with the newly established volunteer's militias that would bolster the army's numbers to the tens of thousands. A month of fighting and siege and still the enemy had taken just a few blocks from the Croats, but now with American support they were about to make a push to the west. Luburic overlooked the convoy as it prepared for its journey, men cleaned guns and made sure to chamber a single bullet before putting in another full magazine, the men going into the push were some of the best, trained by both the CIA men and the SS from the war, many of them still carried their tattoos below their armpits.
If these men could link with the militias, they could truly win the war and perhaps even liberate all of Croatia. Luburic returned to his bunker and wrote some letters to his Spanish and Argentinean friends then went off to the front trenches to imbue the men with some courage. Most of the men here in the City were already well experienced, their clothes often muddied and torn and patched with enemy clothing, the American food would soon run out and then it was the emergency rations, flour and water; The assault brigades would push, or they would starve.
