The Somali government has made extensive preparations in case the War in Europe had any destabilising effects in the Horn of Africa. The skyrocketing price of oil has had a positive effect on the Somali economy, raising revenues from oil exports by more than 50%. A week of military drills has been ordered by the government to raise the country's military preparedness. In addition, your the first time, a civilian reserve force has been created and all adults fit for military service will be trained to defend themselves.
The Somali government has called for a meeting of Arab states in Mogadishu to discuss the precarious situation in the Middle East. President Aden Cadde has sent negotiators to try and diffuse tensions in Nigeria, as well as announcing plans to establish ties with Scandinavia, Canada and Latin America. A new embassy has been built in Malaysia and negotiators have been sent to solve long running dispute between Pakistan and India, two countries which have relations with Somalia.
A new deal signed with Japan and South Korea expands the number of countries to which Somalia exports oil and natural gas.
Meanwhile, in neighbouring Kenya, the worsening treatment of the country's population, especially those living in Kenya's predominantly Muslim Swahili Coast has raised concerns amongst government officials in Mogadishu. A warning has been sent to the Kenyan regime to end its human rights violations.
