Mycenae is one of the world's safest and most heavily guarded cities, and it would be foolish of Craneia to attack. The topography of Mycenae gives the Lavalians an advantage. Not only is it surrounded by water and mountains, but it also lies within a sea, sheltered by various islands and Landmasses. For the Craneians to reach Mycenae, they would need to pass various checkpoints.

Laval thinks it is naïve of Craneia to think it scored such a victory in this war. Not only were Laval's forces sparse in Japan, the Lavalian government had intended to leave after the war- as the amount of resources to keep it functional would have been much a burden on the taxpayer. Laval had conquered Great Brittan, and had an enormous army waiting in Dacia. Since then, the army has been recalled.

The Military remains on Heightened alert. Laval too has its fair share of plans against Craneaia, which it will obviously not share. Construction of warships in Halifax has doubled, with the introduction of 2 new shipyards. The Military is also developing various new technologies to be used in future wars. Over the St.Laurence, the first fighter aircraft has finally launched. It strapped a large machine gun to its hull, which shot from the airplane. The technology is still primitive, and property of the Lavalian military. Also deployed is the first aircraft carrier into Mycenae Harbor.

Astronomy becomes of greater intrest to the Lavalians. A famous scientist discusses the possibility of flight into space through rockets as propulsion. The idea proves controversial, but many scientists have adopted the idea, and are looking into solutions. Also, in Seattle in an observatory in the mountains, a scientist has discovered a new small planet. He names the planet "Pluto".

Mycenae, Laval:
Mycenae is booming faster then ever. Buildings are sprouting up like weeds on every street corner. This is the newly reconstructed diplomatic quarter, which holds the various embassies of the city.
(Image)

Buildings are constantly setting new records, and becoming more intuitive, such as this one- which is a triangle to conform to its lot.
(Image)

The value of land is pushing buildings higher and higher. Below you can also see the wonders the citywide repaving project has reaped. The wide sidewalks accommodate many pedestrians.

(Image)

Transportation has also been established to accommodate the cities 10 million residents, and the even more commuters from other towns and cities surrounding Mycenae.

(OCC: You would not be able to deflect an atomic bomb, and we are not planning an attack. It may not have been a major victory but it was the only fair victory were people didnt RP other peoples losses, yes I roleplayed capturing Lavalians but I never stated what the Lavalian losses were.

Empire of Cranaeia

Domestic policy
During his reign the Cranaeian ideology, Cranaeian Orthodoxy, Monarchy, and Nationality, became the national ideology of the Empire. George II's decreeded that the teaching of the Greek language was mandatory throughout the empire.

Foreign Policy
In foreign affairs George III is a man of peace, but not of peace at any cost, the Emperor believes that the best way to prevent war is to be ready for it. George III helped to revive the League of Emperors, consisisting of Cranaeia, the Ottoman Empire, and Pomerania. The League once included the Empire of East Asia, Salacaria and the Commonwealth. In Siberian affairs the Emperor followed the policy of his father George II by gradually extending Cranaeian domination in Siberia and in Central America without provoking conflict with Laval. In 1906 following the end of the Dacian War the Emperor sent troops to annex the remnents of Country of Meizhou and he also established a Naval base in Hawaii after bring the Islands under Cranaeian control.

Military Reforms
In keeping with his foreign policy of always being prepared for war, Emperor George III always made sure that his army had the newest weapons and equipment and the most highly advanced technology. George III extended the number of ammunition factories from 10,000 to 65,000.

He had the army and Navy equiped with :

Howitzers, 7.7 cm FK 16, 7.7 cm FK 96 n.A., Vickers machine gun *(is being produced only for the Cranaeian armed forces), Maxim guns, Lewis Gun,

Empire of Cranaeia
Emperor Christian VI succedes to the Imperial Throne
Emperor George III died 14 January 1911 surrounded by his family and close friends. The Imperial Court went into mourning. After six months of mourning the Imperial Court set the date for the Coronation of Christian VI it was to be November 15th 1911. invitations were sent to Dacia, Ambibia, Laval, Nea Nea Abyssinia, the Ottoman Empire, the Western European Union, Pomerania, Keoua, and all the other countries of the world

Coronation Procession of Christian VI
His Imperial Majesty's Own Escort, the Horse-Guards, the Life-Guards, Dragoons, Cuirassiers, Hussars and Vóreioándras squadrons and regiments, the grenadiers as well as riflemen, sappers and military school' cadets all gathered under their regimental standards to represent the pride and glory of the Cranaeian Army.

The troops formed a mile long passage that led to the over four thousand year-old walls of the Akrópoli̱s (citadel) of New Memphis. The two greatest battalions of the Life Guards Spartokidó̱n and Olympiódo̱ro regiments, the first regiments of the regular Cranaeian Army looked splendid. Grand Duke Edward Georgievich, Christian VI's uncle commanded the troops. Nine shots from the guns of the Mystikópýrgo Tower rang out, and the bells of the Cathedral of the Assumption pealed. The city's pavements, ledges and even the roofs of every house along the route were swarming with hundreds of thousands of people, waiting for the Procession to pass throught the Triumphal Gate.

(Procession leaves the Petros Palace)

After two hours the 301 gun salute rang out from the Akrópoli̱s to herald the departure of the Emperor and Empress from the Petros Palace. At this all the bells of all the churches of New Memphis range out. The people, as a sign of faith, uncovered their heads and made the sign of the cross with their hands. From all the churches that the Emperor's procession passed on their journey to the Akrópoli̱s, the Archbishops, bishops, priests, monks and nuns carrying crosses, icons and gonfalons in their hands, came out to give the Emperor their blessing for a just and long lasting reign.

The opulence and splendor of the Imperial procession showed that this was truly the most magnificent Coronation of the date. Preceding the Imperial procession rode the cavalcade of gendarme officers. Following them were the Vóreioándras squadrons of His Imperial Majesty's Own Escort, dressed in red coats trimmed with golden lace. Next came His Imperial Majesty's Life-Guards Vóreioándras and, after them, Cyrenaicans horsemen mounted on beautiful Arabian Horses. They were followed by the representatives of all Vóreioándras troops. In the rear of part of the procession were the Horse-Guards squadron of the Life-Guards Cavalry regiment, the horsemen wearing helmets and cuirasses, with their swords gleaming in their hands. And then His Imperial Majesty the Emperor appeared. The Emperor was mounted on an English horse named Xenia, who was a thirteen-year-old light-gray dapple mare.

Image
(Guests of honor watch the Imperial Procession into New Memphis from the grandstands near the Emperor’s Bell)

The most splendid part of the procession were the nineteen coaches and carrriages covered with real gold leaf and velvet, the train drawn by six horse harnessed in tandem. Some of the coaches dated back to the reign of Empress Cleopatra Anna II and her son Emperor Peter I. The coaches were adorned with paintings by the famous Cranaeians. Each of the horses harnessed to the coaches were beautiful and graceful, and they were each led by an equerry.

The Dowager Empress Elizabeth Feodorovna, traveled in a golden carriage, which was adorned with the Imperial Crown encrusted with precious stones. In the next carriage, a golden coach decorated with paintings, came the Empress Consort Victoria Alexandrovna. The procession reached the Akrópoli̱s. Here, at the Chapel of Our Lady of Philai, the Emperor dismounted and helped his mother, and then Victoria Alexandrovna, out of their carriages. Because of Cranaeian tradition all Cranaeian Emperors or Empresses on entering New Memphis territory must be marked by prayers to the icon of the Blessed Virgin of Philai, one of the most revered icons in all Craneaia

The icon is an exact replica of the icon kept in the Monastery of our Lady of Philai, it was brought to New Memphis in 1342 for the coronation of David XI

The Emperor and Empress than take their places under the canopy and the procession to the Cathedral of the Assumption begins at around 10:30.

When the Emperor and Empress reached the Cathedral of the Assumption, the dignitaries come out to the parvis of Cathedral of the Assumption to welcome the monarchs. Metropolitan Archbishop of New Alexandria, offers Their Imperial Majesties the Holy Cross for kissing, while the Metropolitan Archbishop of Naukratis, sprinkles their Imperial Majesties with holy water. Having entered the Cathedral, the Emperor and Empress perform the thrice-repeated worship and kissing of the holy icons, and then they ascend the steps of the dais in the center of the Cathedral. On the top of the dais there are thrones of the Diamond Throne of Alexander I and the Ivory throne of Ptolemy XV. The Imperial Regalia are placed at their side. The Emperor make his public confession, after which the Patriarch offers the Holy Book so the emperor can read his prayer.

His Imperial Majesty bows his head. The Patriarch makes the sign of the Holy cross over him, and laying his hands on the Emperor's head he reads two more prayers. From the hands of the Patriarch the Emperor accepts the Imperial Crown and places it on his own head signifying his authority comes from god himself.

The nthe other insignia were handed over to hiws Imperial Majesty. With the imperial Scepter in his right hand and the Imperial Orb in his left, the Emperor sits down on the throne of Diamond Throne of Alexander I. A few moments later he rises to his feet, hands over the regalia to his attendants and the Empress consort steps forward. She kneels before the Emperor on a crimson cushion bordered with golden lace and with the Imperial Coat of Arms in its center. He takes off his Crown and touches the Emperor's head with it. Then the Small Imperial Crown, the regal Purple and the Chain of the Order of St. Andrew the First Called are handed over to the Emperor who places them on the Empress Consort.

After this the Cathedral's Imperial choir begin to song, wishing the Emperor and Empress many years of life and a long and joyous reign, and the singing is accompanied by with the toll and a salute of 301 salvoes. The Emperor gives the Imperial Scepter to his attendants, genuflects and recites a prayer. Then he rises to his feet, while the Patriarch and all present at the ceremony, kneel down to supplicate their prayer on behalf of all the Cranaeian people, and the choir sing once more.

OOC: I'm back!

The Republic of Laval is perplexed by the nation of Nea Abyssinia, and establishes contact. The secretary of state is sent to talk with their leader, and learn about their people and culture. Laval asks insights on the nation from Cranaeia, which is so nearby to the nation.

President Johnson officially changes the name of Laval from "The Republic of Laval" to "The Democratic Republic of Laval". This change comes after a new legislation that allows partial referendum on certain issues through the nation. Johnson is a strong advocate of political rights and freedoms, and calls for the public to be as little apathetic as possible. He plans to do so through a strong nationalized education system, that now is required to teach subjects such as civics, mathematics, and science.

Mycenae continues to grow, being a hub of innovation and growth- making Cranaeia look more and more like a time capsule society. This sepia tone photo shows just how demand is pushing skyscrapers to the limits.

The Empire of Cranaeia

New Alexandria is by far one of the greatest cities in the world. The Lavalian capital of Mycenae may have larger population than the city but New Alexandria has way more cultural venues, universities, and major tourist attractions than all of Laval and Ambibia combined.

New Alexandria is known for its straight boulevards that were planned on a rigid grid pattern. The city was built to outdo the ancient great cities of Rome and Constantinople in grandeur, the city is said to be the grandest city on earth second to none. New Alexandria will always be a city of the Emperors and their bureaucrats. The city was planned on vast scale, the city is impressive and well ordered. Being near the sea New Alexandria is well supplied with many kinds of fish and seafood.

(Saint Michael's Cathedral)
Image

St. Michael's is the Cathedral church of the city and it has been the scene of many important events. Easter services here were considered the most impressive of any in the city for the glittering magnificence of the Imperial Court, pomp and the quality of the singing. The interior of the church is breathtakingly encrusted in gilt bronze, marble and rare stones - including lapis and malachite in amazing quantities.

When completed the dome of St. Michael's Cathedral dominated the skyline of city more than any other building except maybe the centuries old Lighthouse of New Alexandria. In front of the cathedral was erected a monument to Emperor Christian V. On the right hand side of Saint Michael's square stands Hotel Europa.

(The English Embankment, location of the new Lavalian Embassy)
Image

The English Embankment is a very fashionable address and it is the home of members of the aristocracy including many Grand Dukes. It is quite close to the Christian III Palace and most of the government ministeries are also nearby. Only a rich man can afford the honor of being Ambassador to the Cranaeian Imperial Court.

The Ambassadors resident in the capital were responsible to pay for the costs of their own entertaining receptions. Organizing an event at the embassy is very important because it reflects on the embassy's homeland country. Everything from food and flowers to wine and music had to be arranged in a strict way. Delivery of gala invitations was done by messenger - using the mail for invitations to gala events was considered bad taste.

It was difficult for smaller embassies - like the Lavalian one - to compete with the gala affairs thrown by larger embassies and this was a constant embarrassment to Lavalian Ambassador.

The Hotel Elláda
Selecting the right Hotel in New Alexandria is very important. The Hotel Elláda on Alexander Avenue is one of the best hotels in New Alexandria town and it boasts luxurious rooms and a reading room with newspapers. The Hotel Elláda caters to both transient and long-term guests. There are many different suites of rooms, some with private entrances - which are permanently reserved by members of the aristocracy and the upper class. Service in the Hotel Elláda is excellent.

The Imperial Stables
Image
In 1912 there were more than 400,000 horses in the city of New Alexandria. The finest stables in New Alexandria were the Imperial Stables on the kítrinos Canal and the one located in Ptolemaionborg Palace, seat of parliament. The Imperial Court of Cranaeia requires hundreds of fine animals every day to conduct its' normal business and many more on special occasions. The Emperor has his own personal horses, which are kept mostly at Faraó̱ Cho̱rió and Naukratis. The Emperor's horses live in luxury near the Emperor's palaces and often accompany him on his travels around the empire. When these pampered horses are retired they are sent to the Imperial stud farm at Faraó̱ Cho̱rió. Even in retirement they were remembered. The Tsar and his family would often visit their mounts in retirement.

The Museum of Imperial Carriages
The Imperial carriage collection is located in the Imperial Stables. There are three sets of carriages. The first set are the historic collection which included carriages, sleds, and sledges dating back to 14th century. The second set of the collection are ceremonial carriages that are used for public events. The last set of the collection are the everyday carriages used by the Imperial court, to convey ambassadors to see the Emperor, ferry members of the Imperial family around the city, and carriages to conduct the ceremonial day-to-day business of the court - such as delivering the court invitations to balls and special events - which is always done by private messenger in Imperial court livery.

(The Imperial Carriage Museum)
Image
Being trained to operate an Imperial carriage is a very long process. There were many things to be considered as a driver or as an attendant. Drivers have special police training to know what to do if a terrorist made an attempt on a member of the Imperial court or the Imperial family - including evasive action, Many of the drivers are huge muscular robust Vóreiaándres. The Driver of Imperial Carriages had to make sure that the Imperial carriage did not overturn, Imperial hands or fingers were not shut in the door, and they had to make sure that the occupants of Carriages did not step into puddles or mud when exiting from the carriage. The well-trained carriage attendant had, of course, to watch for all of these possibilities, without actually showing the least effort or conscious concern.

The Solomon Gardens

The Cathedral of Saint Michael and Saint George

The Cathedral in the Saints Michael and George Fortress is the burial church of the Imperial House. The remains of members of both the Portiéri̱ dynasty and the Ptolemaic-Gónoliontári Dynasty are interred here. The remains of rulers, their wives and children going back to Alexander I are interred. The coffins of royalty are placed in vaults beneath the floor of the church in massive white cenotaphs of marble, surrounded by railings with the name of the person buried beneath marked on a plaque in gilt letters.

The Imperial Family tomb vaults are decorated with flowers, icons, embroidered palls, and flickering candles. Leaving flowers for centuries deceased Emperors is considered a good deed that would bring good luck.

The Christian III Palace
Image
The Christian III Palace is very ornate and huge. The Palace building is embellished with columns, capitals, urns and statues. Elizabeth was very pleased with the building which added to her grandeur and prestige. Originally the palace built for the first owner Emperor Christian III was painted a sand color with white. Today it is a dull red.

The windows of the Imperial family's rooms are on the second floor and many people used to stand and watch the windows for a possible glimpse of their rulers. The interiors of the Christian III Palace are spectacular and designed to impress. They are richly decorated in marble, gilt, and silk. All of this splendor went up in flames in December 1825. Christian V and his wife, were at the theatre when they received news that their home was on fire. After the fire ended, the Imperial Palace was only a burned out shell. Christian V had the palace restored between 1825 and 1827. When the Imperial State Hall was reopened the Emperor made a tour of it and was very pleased with the accomplishments of his workmen. The room was splendidly redone and enormous chandeliers where lit to add sparkle and glamour to the room. Less than 24 hours after the Emperor had stood beneath the great chandeliers admiring the work, one of them came crashing down with part of the ceiling but it was quickly repaired.

The Imperial Palace is a working Imperial residence and Emperor and Empress reside here for most of the year. Thousands of servants work at the Christian III Palace to serve the needs of the Imperial Family and their guests. Few people knew that cows live on the roof so that they can supply fresh milk to the family. In the Palace's cellar is a vast wine cellar filled with thousands of the best European wines. Elsewhere, the fabulous Cranaeian crown jewels were tucked away in their own special room.

The Great Porfyró Street
This very short street leads through an arch into palace Square. Generally the bottom floor of buildings are given over to shops. The second floor is usually the most expensive and it was here that the aristocracy lived. Above them prices for apartments and flats decreased the higher you went, while the basement was the most cheapest.

Alexander Avenue

The alexander avenue began at the Admiralty building and ended at Alexander's Monastery. Between the two are Palaces, theatres, libraries, cathedrals, insurance companies, banks, stores and apartments that line both sides of the street. As the prime retail street in the city, the avenue attracted the aristocracy and middleclass. Rents on Alexander Avenue are pretty high and they only get higher the closer one gets to the Christian III Palace.

The Imperial Mariínski Theatre
Image
The city of New Alexandria has been the home of professional theatrical entertainment since it's founding. From the reign of Cleopatra Anna II onwards famous artists from all over Europe made the trip to Imperial Capital to perform for big fees.

The "Season" in New Alexandria began in the last two weeks of September when most people returned to the city. The nobility returned at the end of October at the same time as the Emperor and his family. This was the most brilliant part of the Season, and long-term visitors reported the city looked most brilliant and glorious during this freshing and exciting time of gala court balls, festivals and masquerades.

All of the Season festivities revolve around the Emperor, who is the most important host, guest and critic. The Emperor Christian V started a tradition when he attended the theater almost everyday during the season. The new Emperor Christian VI love the theater and when he was Crown Prince he attended operas, ballets, plays and concerts as often as he could.

Life at New Alexandria
Travellers to New Alexandria are warned to study the customs of the city before arriving. The customs include:

1. Winter is the season for festivities in Cranaeia.
2. There is no dancing during the forty days that precede Easter.
3. Christmas is the most fun filled period.
4. Two or three court balls are then given, and distinguished guests will sometimes receive invitations after having been presented to H.I.M. through their own Embassy or Legation.
5. It is necessary to wear a uniform at court.
6. French is the language spoken in the Imperial Court, but English is generally understood and the language of Greek is the native language.
7.The hours for calling are 3 to 5 P.M its is considered rude to call after that time.
8. Dinner parties generally start at 6:00 or 6:30 P.M.; and receptions commence at about 10 P.M., and last very late to midnight or even later.
9. Guests are expected to be punctual where members of the Imperial Family are invited.
10. Ladies wishing to pass a 'season' at New Alexandria should remember that Cranaeian ladies dress very richly and in great taste.
11. At Court balls, the only dance in which the strangers will not at first be able to join is the Mazurka.
12. It is also necessary to observe the partners are not engaged for the whole of a waltz or polka, but only for one turn each.
13. In summer there are generally two or three salons in New Alexandria open for evening receptions.
14. Ladies can in summer wear robes montants, and gentlemen light trousers and white waistcoats, with dress coats. The same costume is worn at dinner parties in summer.
15. Travellers should not forget that a Cranaeian always takes off his hat whenever he enters a home or building to pay respect to the holy image suspended in the corner of every room.

The Cleopatra Palace
Image
The Great Cleopatra palace was named for Cleopatra Anna I, the wife of Solomon VIII of Cranaeia. Cleopatra Anna I later ruled Cranaeia after Solomon VIII reign.

Cleopatra Anna I built a small stone house in Faraó̱ Cho̱rió, which was favored for it's wooded surroundings. Later, when their daughter, Elizabeth I became Empress in 1737 she had the palace greatly enlarged by her chief architect. The Palace is built in the baroque while the color is blue and white. The immense length of the palace made it one of the longest in the world. The Empress Elizabeth I organized special balls in which men were required to dress as women and women as men, because someone had once told her how handsome her legs looked in men's breeches and stockings.

Cleopatra Anna II loved Faraó̱ Cho̱rió so much that it was her favorite residence. She made extensive modifications to the palace, creating a huge group of rooms in the neoclassical style. When she wasn't fighting wars of expansion, Cleopatra Anna II had virtually unlimited funds to spend on building, which was a passion for her that she once said it was like a disease that she could not cure.

The Present Emperor Christian VI and his wife Empress Victoria Alexandrovna have spent the first five years of their reign alternating their choice of residence from Cleopatra Palace in Faraó̱ Cho̱rió, Solomohof, Christian III Palace, and the other palaces.

Solomohof Palace is located west of the city of New Alexandria on the coast. The first palace was built on the site around 1701 by Solomon VIII. Its stategic position across from island fortress of Koró̱napóli̱s made the site especially attractive to the Emperor. The palace has been vastly expanded over the years. The palace itself reached it's final form during the reign of Solomon's daughter Elizabeth and the grounds continued be be developed for many years after that. In the summer Solomohof park is open to the public and there are many music concerts and parades. Solomohof Palace is a beautiful summer retreat but, like most places near bodies of water, it is damp which is why the Present Emperor and Empress favor the palaces at Faraó̱ Cho̱rió and Naukratis for their dryness.

Military review at the field of Mars
Image
Every spring the annual military review is held in the Field of Mars, a vast open space near the center of New Alexandria close to the barracks of the Imperial Guard. The review of 1912 was a dazzling spectacle which demonstrated the power and might of the Cranaeian Empire. Over 125,000 armed forces took part in the military review. It seemed to visitors that the whole of New Alexandria was there to watch. Tickets were issued for grandstand seats near the Imperial pavilion and loge, where the Empress, Dowager Empress and other women of the Imperial Family would watch the review. There were also reserved seats for Ambassadors, special guests and the city's elite.

New Piraeus is the largest city of Cranaeia and the commercial capital of Cranaeia. The city was founded in 1589 by Emperor Frederick I of Cranaeia. Over the years the city grew so large that it became the largest city in the empire with a population of 11,567,345 people taking Mycenae's place as the largest city in the world. New Piraeus exerts a significant impact upon commerce, finance, media, art, fashion, research, technology, education, and entertainment. The city is divided into five boroughs:
Mántovapolis, Chalkis, Vasileíspolis, Leónpolis, Syros. The city is home to 150 of the 500 largest companies in the world. The city has more hotels than Mycenae and New Alexandria combined.

The Waldorf-Tyrell Hotel is a luxury hotel in New Piraeus. The Waldorf-Tyrell was the first hotel to offer room service to its customers. It was founded by an African-Cranaeian man named Waldorf Tyrell. The Waldorf-Tyrell contains 1,245 rooms. The Hotel is located on 315 Park Avenue, Mántovapolis, New Piraeus.

New Memphis is one of Cranaeia's oldest cities founded over four thousand years ago. Despite its advanced age and its traditionlist ways it holds the distinction of being the first city to be intirely lighted by light at night, the second was New Alexandria. Both for the coronation of Emperor Christian VI's father George III 1894.

The Ottoman Empire continues to go from strength to strength, reveling in its status as one of most long lived, continuous empires in the history of the world. It was the first nation to introduce the welfare state, street lighting and sanitation, a nationwide system to deliver clean water, the proponent of the first major agricultural revolution in the Medieval Ages, the creator of countless inventions and sciences, including algebra, robotics, clocks, compasses, the philosophy of science and the founder of sociology and economics. A military and economic powerhouse that stretches from India to Spain, from Turkey to Southern Africa, the Ottoman Empire commands the respect of all nations.

Istanbul, the capital of the Empire has defenses unmatched by any city in the world. A large number of fortifications, walls and castles cover the city. Mountains, narrow waterways and outlying islands provide natural defenses, whilst a well trained civilian militia and a large amount of artillery, cannons and other weapons provide military defenses. Istanbul is the second largest city by population and the largest by area. It is known as the 'Green City' due to its large abundant parks, nature reserves and open spaces and the 'City of a Thousand Minarets'. It is by far the most cosmopolitan and diverse city in the Ottoman Empire and the seat of government and business. The city is known for its large number of archeological sites and ancient monuments, dating back to before the Byzantine Empire, as well as being a seat of Islamic culture and learning, attracting many renowned scholars and holy men. Accolades the city has include being the wealthiest city in the world, the cleanest, and the most unpolluted.

His Imperial Majesty, Emperor Menelik VI receives the Lavalian Ambassador in the Throne Hall of the Great Ghebbi (Palace) surrounded by 1000 Abyssinian nobles, some of whom were dressed in lion skins. The Lavalian Embassy arrived in Addis Gondar three weeks before easter. The Emperor said that he was looking forward to close ties and relations with the Lavalian Republic, but he also recognized that Cranaeia and Nea Abyssinia both were of Coptic Orthodox faith. For centuries the Cranaeian Patriach had appointed the Archbishop of Aksum, who was head of the Nea Abyssinian Church.

Image

Five years after this reception, Menelik VI died in his bed surrounded by family, his wife, the leading nobles of the empire, and some ambassadors resident in Nea Abyssinia. After the period of mourning was over the Emperor's only surviving child born in wedlock, became Empress with the name Makeda II, in honour of the Queen of sheba who the Imperial Family of Nea Abyssinia is descended from. The New Empresss has one son by her husband Ras Mäkonnen Wäldä-Mika'él Guddisa, her cousin. The Crown Prince's name is Dawit Makonnen Woldemikael.

The new Empress of Nea Abyssinia was crowned in the Cathedral of Saint George, the patron saint of Nea Abyssinia.

Empress Makeda II
Image
Makeda is the daughter of Emperor Menelik VI, by Woizero Romanawork, a woman of mid-level nobility, born shortly after Menelik returned to Shawā following his captivity at Magdalla. Woizero Romanawork died while Mekeda was still a very young child, so Mekeda was raised by her father, in the care of nannies, and was closer to him than any other person save his wife Empress Taitu. Growning up in the Imperial Palace of Addis Gondar she was often refered to by her close relatives by the nickname of "Mamite" which translates to "Baby". Unlike most of the rest of the Shawān aristocracy, Makeda had very good relations with Empress Taitu. Although Taitu was a stern mistress who ruled the Imperial household without any interference from the Princess's father the late Emperor Menelik VI, Makeda had deep affection for her step-mother. Taitu loved her stepdaughter, Makeda very much but she believed that Makeda was overly familiar with the palace serving maids. In a fit of rage the Empress Taitu once said "It's imposible to separate Mamite from the servants". She often scolded her for not maintaining the dignity of a Princess of the House of Solomon. Over the years Makeda has earned a reputation of kindness and she lacks the haughty and imperious attitudes of her step-mother and other female relatives who believed they were better than everyone else simply because they had the blood of Solomon and the Queen of sheba in their veins. Makeda has always treated everyone with the same sweet friendliness whether they were royalty or simple servants, her becoming Empress will not change this.

Ras Mäkonnen Wäldä-Mika'él Guddisa, Prince Consort of Nea Abyssinia
Ras Mäkonnen is not only husband of the Empress but he is also Nea Abyssinia's foreign minister.

War of Succession
Empress Makeda's reign began with a bitter war. King Michael of Wollo refused to recognize her has Empress so he declared war and marched his huge army, 71,000 into Shawā. After an initial victory at Tora Mesk, the army of Wollo were crushed by a 125,000 Imperial Army at Segelle. The elderly King of Wollo was captured and was made to parade through the streets of Addis Gondar on foot carrying a rock of repentance on his shoulders, as is customary for defeated rulers, his hands were chained with gold chains. Although he was made to pay public homage to the Empress Makeda, both the Empress and her husband met with him privately to enquire about his health, and accorded him every dignity as a King.

((Joint post between Nea Abyssinia and Cranaeia))
Reforms of Crown Prince Dawit Makonnen Woldemikael
When his mother became Empress,Crown Prince Dawit Makonnen Woldemikael, began to institute wide spread reforms in order to bring Nea Abyssinia into the modern age. The Crown Prince established schools and even founded the first newspaper in Nea Abyssinia. The Crown Prince went on a tour of the Holy Land and the capitals of the great powers and the leading cities of the world. The Crown Prince became the highest ranking member of the Imperial family to ever travel abroad. He visited Rome and was greeted by Pope. He also visited New Alexandria when their Imperial Majesties Emperor Christian VI and his wife were resident in the city, he paid a royal visit to Istanbul to meet with the Ottoman Emperor, he paid a visit to the Western European Union. The Crown Prince spent several months visiting London, Paris, Madrid, Stockholm, Oslo, Copenhagen, Brussels, Vienna, and Berlin, before he crossed the atlantic to visit Laval, making him the first member of reigning Imperial House to visit Mycenae in over a century.

In an effort to convince the nobility of the Empire that the path of modernization and progress was the best way to guarantee Nea Abyssinia's continued independence and future prosperity (as well as to keep a close eye on them), the Crown Prince brought with him to Europe the leading nobles and aristocrats of his mother's court. This exposure to the west with it's wealth, it's technology and it's military might as well as to it's many material advantages was instrumental in getting the nobility to relax their long time conservative opposition to the progressive trends of the Crown Prince.

Ras Hailu Tekle Haimanot of Gojjam, who is one of the most wealthiest men in the Nea Abyssinian Empire if not the world. When the Crown Prince and his entourage were received by Emperor Christian VI, Ras Hailu along with the other princes and nobles was introduced to the Cranaeian Emperor. Emperor Christian VI on meeting Ras Hailu asked if His Highness could speak Greek. The interpreter said no. He asked if he could speak French or German, again the answer was no. Emperor Christian VI, rather irritated told the interpreter to tell His Highness that he was an ignorant man. Ras Hailu listened quietly and asked the interpreter if His Majesty could speak Amharic (Language of the empire). When told no, he asked him if His Majesty could speak Tigrigna or Guragigna, again he was told no. The prince then haughtily told the interpretter to tell the Emperor of Cranaeia that His Imperial Majesty was equally ignorant. Emperor Christian VI burst out laughing and took a great liking to Ras Hailu, Prince of Gojjam.

Might as well just build the Burj Khalifa. I haven't even finished constructing my Chrysler building. The empire state building was built in the 50's. You can't have it all Craneia.
