Pat took out his 1911 and fired as the two drunk Germans attempted to attack him, putting them down for the count. He grabbed all the papers he could find, which was a lot, surprising, which meant that the job the Germans had done was rather poor. He stuffed them into a briefcase and motioned to Daniel that they should leave. He bolted out of the room and met up with the Captain.

Daniel helped the Frenchmen to their feet, and yelled after Pat as he ran.
"Pat! Take the fire escape! We cannae risk being compromised!" Pat didn't seem to hear him.
"Bollocks! Right, you lot stick wi me, and try and look inconspicous. Avoid eye-contact wi anyone." Daniel led the Frenchmen down the hallway, and down the stairs into the crowded entrance hall. The one Daniel had ungagged caught up with him
"I was only captured a few hours ago. I was working for my father-in-law, delivering bread here. The truck is still outside, we can use it to escpae...My name's Gus by the way."
"Brilliant idea Gus!" Daniel found the Commander and Captain Page, who were helping the drunked German out the door, he whispered in Commander Noble's ear.
"Ma'am, one of the Frenchmen has a bread truck out front. The rest o' the squadron arenae too far behind"- he turned and saw Matt, Edward and the others trying to keep pace-", I think we should pile in and get back tae the hotel, gather oor shit and hightail it back ate the airport."

A few minutes ago...
As Page turned and saw Noble yell that the room was on fire, he had no idea what was going on. The Eyepatch seemed to be a bit of a drinking lightweight, or else he'd already had a few before Page had sat down - he was laughing uproariously at the fire, even as he was stumbling out. As the crowd hustled out the doors, Page ran into the Commander. As the Eyepatch drunkenly slurred the tune of the Horst Wessel Song to himself, Page turned to Noble.
<<That was you, wasn't it.>>
She gasped, feigned shock. << My god, of course not! How could you accuse me of setting a hotel on fire for my own dastardly purposes? How rude!>>
This was followed by a quick wink. Page laughed and shook his head, saying nothing more.
Page kept smiling. At this point, they were out the door, where a crowd of people were gathered from the ballroom. Firefighters' bells were already audible. He could see Pat, Daniel, and a handful of others bolting towards a bread truck. As Pat jumped in, he suddenly realized what was happening. Looks like we've got a way out.
He turned to the Commander, and motioned his head towards the truck. She nodded. The Eyepatch finally took notice of her.
<<Hey...Hey 14! this a friend of yours? Introduce me, would ya!>> He kept leering.
<<Shut up,>> Page muttered. He then took the drunken man's arm, and began guiding him towards the truck.
<<What?!>> the Eyepatch cried. Before he could realize what was going on, Noble ran in front of him, and quickly, unobtrusively, but decisively, kneed him extremely hard in the groin. His eye (singular, of course) rolled, and it was apparently so painful, he couldn't even cry out. He was utterly shut down.

As Page approached the truck, he shoved the back door open, and dumped the Eyepatch in the back, then boarded with the rest of the squadron. He heard Daniel's plan, and yelled back, in English:
"We can't leave yet. We still don't know what the hell their plan is. But we've got a fucker who does. Keep the truck moving fast. Don't stop for anything."
He pulled out the Webley, and looked towards the slumped figure of the Eyepatch.
"I'll deal with our monocular guest."

Daniel held on for dear life as Pat drove madly around the narrow Parisian streets.
"Right, we need tae get oan tae the Champs Ellyese, and from there back towards the Gare Du Nord. Now, the Champs Ellyese is up on the right...no, Pat the right...THE RIGHT!!!" The van swung round onto the famous throughfare, and swung around the Arc De Triomph. It skidded around and drove straight through the archway, narrowly avoiding several cars as it did so. Daniel wept silently, fearing for his life.
"Fuck, I've had turbulence calmer than this!"

[OOC]sorry for the absence, pretend I've Ben right behind ye'all the whole time[/OOC]

Adrian scrambled into the truck as it got going, drawing his Hafdasa and racking a round into the chamber. As the vehicle caromed through the streets, he shrugged off his satchel and propped it against the side of the truck for easy acess, then took position at the tailgate, covering their rear.

Suddenly, a long black car swung out behind them, and another black-coated figure leaned out the window. There was a flash of steel in his hand, and Adrian had just enough time to recognize an artillery Luger with a snail drum magazine before a torrent of 9mm bullets began spattering against the truck.

"YE FOUCKING BASTARD! TASTE THE .45 CALIBER WRATH O' JOHN MOSES FOUCKING BROWNING!!!! AHAHAHAHA!!!!" Adrian cackled, bringing his weapon to bear and opening fire. The stubby SMG was incredibly loud in the crowded truck, leaping and flashing in it's master's hands as the 11.53mm jacketed steel slugs ripped through the hood and windshield of the car, kicking up sparks and clouds of steam from the ruptured radiator. A burst of slugs caught the driver in the face and neck, spraying the cab in a flash of red, and the car swerved off the road. The Luger-toting gunman vaulted put the door just in time, as the car struck a railing and flipped through the window of a bakery.

Rolling to a halt, the gunman raised his pistol and fired another burst at the truck, running after it on foot. Adrian replied in kind, slapping the magazine from the empty 20-round stack to the full one, and unleashing a hail of .45 ACP. Both ran out of ammo at the same time, Adrian swearing and kicking out the old magazine as the german ejected his drum and fumbled for a secound, skidding to a halt. By the time they had reloaded, however, the german was out of sight.

As Adrian was leaning out the window of the truck and firing at their adversary, Page realized what he needed to do. He quickly holstered his Webley, and drew his combat knife he kept in his jacket. Staggering over to the Eyepatch, moaning in pain with his knees wobbling while propped up against the rear door, Page grabbed his neck and pulled him down. He forced the Eyepatch's jaw open with one hand, and could see a small dark capsule on one of the Eyepatch's teeth. Page quickly wedged his knife in and cut it out, removing it with his fingers. He then crushed it under his boot.

"Now that you don't have your easy way out, what's your plan? How will the Marin be seized? What were you doing with those prisoners?"
The Eyepatch choked out a few words, in German. "I don't...understand..."
Page gave him a right hook across the face, and pressed the Webley against his stomach.
"What. Is. The. Plan."
More punches punctuated every word.

Finally, the Eyepatch raised his hands, and sputtered, "Stop! I'll tell you..."
"About goddamn time," Page muttered.
"As soon as Paris falls...we were supposed to send the signal. The Abwehr made a deal with the old members of Croix de Feu before the war...and the other far-right parties. They managed to get 3 French Army battalions under the control of their officers, men who believed that we offered a better solution than that Socialist Jew Leon Blum. When the signal goes out...two of those battalions are to seize the ships at Toulon, lock them down...and hand them over."

Page grinned. "Now we're getting somewhere. Where is the broadcast station? And when will the broadcast be made?"
The Eyepatch laughed. "What's the biggest fucking radio tower in this whole country, Britisher?"
The penny dropped.

"The Eiffel Tower."

The Eyepatch grinned. "We have a man or two in there. As soon as the city falls...the broadcast goes out."

"Captain!"
Page turned around, to see Commander Noble sitting in the passenger's seat, trying to stay stable as Daniel wove madly through the streets.
She was adjusting the radio set in the truck. A final twist of the knob, and a news broadcast crackled in.

"News from the front: It appears Marechal Weygand's vaunted "hedgehog strategy" of defensive strongpoints has failed, as German armored forces are now reaching the suburbs of Paris. British and French forces in Northern France are entirely cut off, and it seems German tanks are only an hour or two away from the metropolitan area..."

The Eyepatch burst out in a spasm of laughter. "See? There's no stopping us. Even if you do stop our little plan, you'll never, ever stop our panzers - we'll just keep rolling them south and seize them ourselves."

Page re-jammed the Webley in his face.
"I'm not done yet. You said two battalions are down south. Where's the other one?"
"Hah...that one...was led by some particularly...loyal members of Croix de Feu. You would probably call them...fanatical. They volunteered to stay up north, work directly alongside you Britishers...and oversee our plan up here. They actually attacked an isolated British company up near Dunkirk, took a lot of them prisoner, no quarter for the rest. They are true heroes - patriots."

Page suppressed his rage, but it seeped out in his voice.
"WHERE ARE THEY?"
"After their attack on the Brits, they managed to slip through our lines. Can't imagine how." Eyepatch laughed at this. "Then, they got reassigned, to be Paris' defense battalion. They're guarding this fair city right now, including the Eiffel Tower."
He laughed, one final time. "Have fun fighting through them. I understand they're quite elite. Maybe you'll even rescue their prisoners too...I doubt it, though. Hopefully, they've already killed them. Dead weight, you see."
He smiled, blood seeping from his gums where Page hit him.

Page, in a fury, threw the back door of the truck open. He grabbed Eyepatch by the neck, stood him up, and fired his Webley at point blank range through his stomach, then tossed him out the back. He tumbled for a quarter-mile, it seemed, before coming to a stop.

Page shut the door, his suit spattered with blood. "You heard him, Daniel. Head for the real big pylon."

Pat leapt out of the bread van and bolted towards the big pylon, along with Daniel, hoping that Eyepatch had not led them on a wild goose chase. He had his 1911 ready to go, to deal with whatever threat ran across them. He groaned and then he saw a saddled throughbred, and he apologized to the owner as he mounted the horse, having thrown the reins over the head "My sincerest apologies, but there is a war going on you know." He said, throwing himself over onto the saddle, and once secured, pulled out his gun and began cantering with speed towards the unsuspecting German elites..

Adrian slung on his satchel, and lept after the others. As Pat bolted off on the last horse, he groaned, and searched for an alternative. Finding it only made him groan again.

Swearing and snarling, he shot out the lock holding a bicycle to the rail alongside a building, yanked the thing free, and mounted it. Shrieking and complaining under the force of his frantic peddling, the old bike hurtled after Pat and Daniel.

Edward leaped from the truck, and found that there wasn't any horse left, or bicycle. He ran a bit faster, until he found a man rode a carriage with his horse. Edward quickly pulled out his S&M Model 10, and aimed it to the man:

"Get down or I will shoot you!!!"

And the man quickly got down, and Edward cut the rope that connected the horse to the carriage with his knife, threw him into the saddle, and ran fast in order to kept on with the others.

Daniel kept pace with Pat, running at full pelt towards the Eiffel Tower.
"They'll likely be at the very top, in Eiffel's old office, or they'll be up on the antenna. The lift will get us uptae the first level, then we need tae take the second yin up tae the second, the stairs uptae the bar, then the lift to the observation deck." Daniel readied his SMG as he pulled it out, and shouted madly to the French people around the tower.

As the squadron piled out of the truck and began heading through the Champ de Mars (most on foot, others on horseback or on a bike), Page readied himself for a shootout. He was only going into this with his revolver, and he could see men in French Army uniforms scattered throughout the park - no doubt members of the traitor battalion. As he ran, he could hear a pounding in the distance. At first he thought it was just his heartbeat realized it had to be either inbound or outbound artillery fire. The Germans are getting close now...

As he ran, the Commander kept pace. "You do realize," she said through heavy breaths, as they continued to sprint, "I've never actually fired a gun before?"
"Well," Page huffed, "You still got that Colt, right?"
She checked. "Yeah."
"And you remember how to use it?"
"It was too simple to forget, as I recall."
"Then I'm sure it won't be a problem. Just follow my lead."

Soon, the squadron came back together, and crept into view of a guard station at the central path crossroads, in the middle of the park, manned by several French soldiers with rifles. As he and the Commander took cover behind a tree while the squadron sheltered in a natural depression, Page noticed the French soldiers were wearing what seemed to be a new patch - bearing the insignia of a flaming cross.
He turned back, and breathed to the group, "We're going to have to take these guys out."

Matthias nodded, acknowledging Page's instructions. He moved away from the group creeping up behind one of the soldiers guarding the perimeter, using a hedgerow as cover. He drew a Nahkampfmesser from his belt with his right hand. Surprise was always an advantage so he was looking to dispose of the man as silently possible. He crept up behind the man, readying himself. He struck like a snake, luging towards the man and placing his left hand over the man's mouth. Matthias pulled him back into the bushes keeping his hand over the soldier's mouth to prevent him screaming for help. He pinned the man to the ground and stuck his blade deep into his throat. He brought his hand of the man's mouth and let him drop to the ground, blood flowing from his neck. He looked over the hedgerow, the other soldiers hadn't seen a thing.

Pat held on steady with his position, with the reins in one hand, and also having a hand on the buck strap/mane for steading himself, he took shots at some of the Germans who were running towards them with his. His aim was accurate. They arrived at the Effiel, and he stopped. He patted the horse and saw a French man and handed him the horse "Take this steed, he is yours now. See that no harm comes." He instructed in french, before racing up the Effiel tower with Daniel.

Page saw Matthias creeping out and slitting the throat of an outlying guard. Well, that reduces the odds against us by one. Seems the guard station has a blind spot now...perhaps we could sneak past them?
Page turned back to the remainder of the squadron. "Anyone feel like making a bit of a distraction so we can get by?"

At this, the Commander immediately raised her hand to volunteer, stood up and dusted herself off. Page raised his eyebrows.
"Really? I was thinking more of throwing a grenade, get them going away from their guard post."
"Too unreliable, and we can't afford to waste grenades, I would think."
"Well, you're worth a bit more than a grenade, on that score. So what's your plan? Just walk right up and ask to be let in?"
"Basically. Hopefully, they'll be distracted enough to not notice you sneaking right around them. Get ready to move."

Not waiting for Page's reply, Noble turned and nonchalantly walked out onto the path leading to the guard station. As she approached the guard station, she feigned surprise and called out to them.
"Excuse me sirs, may I get by? I was hoping to go up in the Tower for the first time today."
Page began working his way around the group. Hopefully, she can keep them busy long enough...

However, the soldiers immediately cocked their rifles and pointed them at her. A sergeant strutted up. <<No one passes through here.>>
She turned on the biggest smile she was capable of. <<But sir, can't you make an exception just this once?>>
The sergeant was totally unmoved. <<You heard me. Leave now.>>
<<But sir - >>
At this, the sergeant slapped her across the face. He turned to his men. <<Boys, seems we've got a possible civil resister on our hands. Take her in.>>
Page, furious, couldn't take any more. He snapped into a crouch, took out his revolver, and fired two shots into the sergeant. He went down quickly.
Page turned to the rest of the group. "OPEN FIRE!"

Edward, now on a steady pace to followed both Pat and Daniel, got a little bit accident, as he crashed a French soldier, and both the horse and the man died. Edward quickly picked up his rifle, who looked like a M1 Garand.

He walked until he stopped and hide behind a bushes, as he looked his squad on a heavy firefight with French as the enemies. He sniped a man beside Commander, and shoot him with his rifle.

Matthias swore, he was still holding his knife and wasn't ready for a firefight. Thinking quickly he darted out from his cover and threw his knife at the nearest of the soldiers, hitting him in the leg. He hurriedly drew his Luger, flicking the safety off and finished off the man with two quick bullets, one to the body and another to the head. He quickly moved to his left, moving a bit closer to the other members of his squadron so he wouldn't get separated. He poked his head back up aiming at some of the soldiers. "Get down!" He yelled at the commander who was still standing up, while he simultaneously fired at the soldiers.

As the firing began, Commander Noble quickly dived to the ground, to avoid the incoming fusillade. She desperately grabbed for her Colt .45, and managed to get off a few shots at the French before the firefight died down. The French soldiers had been taken by surprise, and most of them had been taken out by the Captain, Matthias, and Pat. Soon, the gunfire stopped, and it became eerily silent.
Page ran over to her, still keeping a sharp eye out for any potential hostile contacts. "You alright?"
She nodded, and gingerly touched her cheek. "Wish I could've killed that sergeant myself, but that's life. Thanks for the backup, there."
Page smiled. "Next time, I swear I'll shoot before you get beat up."

Just then, a huge crack of actual thunder split the sky. Page holstered his weapon, and motioned to the group.
"Come on - the way's clear now. We've still gotta climb all those damn stairs up..."

Pat was surprisingly fast climbing the stairs, jogging up them with great speed. He pulled out his 1911, and shot at guards guarding, causing them to fall over the side to their death. It took a while, but he finally made it to the first level, which he stopped to catch a breath before preparing to fight.

Edward ran fast at the stairs, climbed it really fast, and pulled out his Model 10, and began shot at guards that were tried to confronted him. Finally, he was arrived at the top, and he rested for awhile, before the battle.

The men ran onto the concourse, Page leading the way. The rain had begun falling now, and it was clear that a storm was brewing up. So far, there had been little enemy response to the shootout at the checkpoint, but that was bound to change - and quickly. The base of the tower was unguarded, but Page could see men from the traitor battalion on the stairways and floors high above. As Pat began opening fire on them, Page joined him, and the group inched their way up, stair by stair, landing by landing. As they approached the first floor, Page took point around the last bend.
"Hold up." Page motioned to group to stop, and pulled a grenade from his jacket. He quickly poked his head out and scouted around the bend, pulled the pin, and threw it. A few seconds later, it exploded, catapulting at least one traitor off the floor and onto the hard ground, a few hundred feet below.
Page turned the corner, looking for a target.
"ALRIGHT EVERYONE, SECURE THIS FLOOR!"
