"In short, mitochondria produce ATP, cell energy. ATP production by the mitochondria is done by the process of respiration, which in essence is the use of oxygen in a process which generates energy. The rest of it is in your book. Do some of that reading. When you go to your next class, try to not to be killed by mutated rabbits. "Any questions or do you all still not give a crap?" he asked.

Though the discoveries about the rabbits was knew to her, she knew all the rest of the science mentioned and was hoping the teacher would teach more complicated stuff. The comment about them most likely not giving a crap made her look at the other students with a frown. She wished the class was taught for those that actually were interested. Did it really matter if they were interested?
When the teacher threw the pencil at the guy called James, she looked back at him, when she turned her head back to face the teacher, she caught the eye of a guy called Izanagi. She head what he was saying and nodded.
"But this school isn't exactly what you'd call a natural environment either." she piped up. "I mean, I'm not sure how many there are, but at the rate I've seen some people finishing them off, there won't be many left soon."
Constaniana wrote:Edward raised an eyebrow; He was a tad bit skeptical about the last part Minh had said, but decided commenting on how the headmaster here was a raging heterosexual probably wasn't a good idea with a teacher right there two desks in front of him unless he wanted something worse than a pencil thrown at him. "She's right, it's a bit odd that we're talking about them being natural and in the wild and all that, when they're artificially created mutants, and their habitat is a man-made school that nature could never design. But I see your point, " Edward answered.

"Could someone potentially boost the capabilities of mitochondria with scientifical or even magical means? Higher cell energy could mean higher cell reproduction rates, which could mean also higher healing rates. Actually, now that I think of it, do regenerative powers influence cell reproduction rate?"

Esternial wrote:The night passed more slowly for others. While many surrendered themselves to the soothing bosom of their pillows and a realm of dreams, Allan felt the torment of decades tear through his soul, chilling his body to the bones. His dreams offered no safe sanctuary for his thoughts, but rather proved to be cold and inhospitable. The years made him resilient though, and he was no less a veteran of his own dreams; whether haunted or not, they held no more terrors for him.
Allan wearily opened his eyes. Another night had passed, uneventful. It seemed his demons would let him pass another day unhindered by their madness. His old bones protested as he forced them to the edge of his bed, finally dropping them to the ground like loaded bags of stone. In an absent minded gaze he stared at the fading twilight at the horizon as light began to dominate the cloudless morning skies. With a mild effort he stood up, using the bedside cupboard as his support. In his drowsy half-slumbering haze he bumped his knee against the cabinet, jolting a sharp pain through his entire leg that seemed to reverberate throughout his entire body. A curse barely managed to escape his lips, followed by an abrupt kick to one of the legs of the wooden piece of furniture; the sheer force broke the support and the cabinet struggled for balance on it's three remaining feet, but the weight of books that Allan had placed inside the wooden storage unit was simply too much for it too bear. Throwing the contents on top of it all over the floor in a random pattern, the cabinet surrendered to gravity and fell on its side, revealing its contents as it opened.
"Little piece of-" Allan mumbled furiously, glaring at the piece of woodwork as he gathered a few books and put them in his leather bag; it was nearly antique by the looks of it, but then again that might be the reason why he preferred it.
Breakfast was brief, Allan never really took much time to appreciate it. His years of irregular sleep and meals had faded his appreciation of these things, which others deemed to self-explanatory. Perhaps it was because they were raised with milk and luxury while he spent his life surviving on just the necessities. It made these children careless and unwary.
The first class was about to end, so Allan had better hurry. He grabbed his bag and locked his room behind him, heading for his assigned classroom where he started to set up everything for his own class.

Although, that's probably why you looked bored. Going over things you already know can be tedious.
Realizing he was sort of ranting, he stuck out his hand and smiled. "Name's Izanagi."

I'm just sad the teacher didn't go into more detail, regardless of what the majority wanted. I was hoping to learn something." Still speaking in a soft voice, which was how she mostly talked, hardly ever raising her voice.
She gathered her stuff together.

And humans say demons are sadistic. This...class, is one of the most evil forms of torture I've ever seen. How one doesn't lose their mind sitting here is a mystery. Oh well, at least they provide free snacks. Should make it all worthwhile.
The "Snack" was his biology textbook, which he took a nice, big bite out of.
"Kinda bland. Could use a little barbeque sauce."
Noticing class was apparently over, he marched out of the room, making sure to kick the door off when he left.

He then kicked the floor and his desk began shaking until it seemed to jump into the air, "throwing" the books into the air. Izanagi caught it and turned back around. "Alright, now we can go." Izanagi exited the room and began walking the hall to the next class with Izera.
