Yuzuki landed on her feet.

"Trust me, he's worse at times than that. Your code should be undamaged, but if you want to check your life points and your stats, just call them up. They'll appear holographically. Life points should be some number out of 400, and your energy levels (for your abilities) should be the same. Any other information you'll need will come up, as well."

"Wait, wait, wait. Life points? Abilities? What do you mean?" Alexis was sitting against the wall, eyes wide as she compulsively braided her blonde hair: right over middle, left over middle, right over middle, left over middle, right over middle, left over middle. She glanced down at the braid, already halfway done, and frowned as she noticed that a tuft of hair stuck out near the beginning. "Shit, now I have to redo it," she complained, pulling the braid apart.

"There are much bigger things to worry about than braiding hair. Follow me, and I'll show you more." Yuzuki walked into the tower, creating ripples at its base.

Mitch rolled his eyes. This was just the type of person he hated. "This is a computer program. A massive digital world programmed to do....something. We use these avatars to interact with the data, which presumably, Yuzuki is one of the guardians or manifestations of. I'm guessing that XANA is the other one. Perhaps a code to put a limit on your powers, Yuzuki?" He flexed his claws and called up his screen, opening an additional window as well as he manipulated his avatar's code. "Fortunately for me, I was able to program an interface before I....ehm....'virtualized' myself." The window blurred and disappeared and Mitch threw his arms up in frustration. "Of course, it won't work well in here. Stupid supercomputer."

Returning to Mitch's first few points, Yuzuki stated "I am the Guardian of Lyoko, though I am human - or, at least, was. Xana seeks to destroy Lyoko, though it wasn't always thus. Originally, Lyoko was created to destroy Project Carthage, which was a military program designed to disrupt enemy communications. However, Xana was corrupted by an unknown virus, and now seeks the destruction of Lyoko and control over Earth."

"No...it's a different program I created just before I virtualized. It's like a failsafe. I can access the scanner controls from...well, here. Except it doesn't work yet."

"Quite a lofty goal." And exactly what he told me. Now I know that he's honest, at least. Mitch shook his head, clearing it of the remnants of Xana's energy blast. "So...my name is Mitch Frenkas. I'm a student at Kadic. Who are you guys in the real world?"

Graham crossed the portal over to the tower, and once there, continued examining his new body, until he saw the others enter the tower as well, first Alexis, then a person he didn't know, and lastly, the girl he had seen open the portal at first. He also saw there another person, covered in black wraps.

When Yuzuki mentioned the life points and energy levels, Graham decided to try what she said and tried to call up his stats. Much to his surprise, they all appeared there. His life points were apparently untouched, though his "Supersprint" points were a bit drained, and he assumed it was what had caused the red trail to appear behind him when he was sprinting towards the pulsating light earlier. He also saw the names of other abilities there, and studied them as he listened to Mitch explain just what Lyoko was.

"I understand..." He murmured when Mitch concluded, to both what he said and what he had seen on his stats.

He then listened to Yuzuki explain that XANA was corrupted by a virus and sought to destroy Earth. He approached her. "So... That's why you called us...?" He asked her.

When Mitch mentioned the real world, Graham frowned and looked away, though he still awaited Yuzuki's reply.

Xana smiled.
"This is only the beginning. Lyoko and will before my might. " a thousand dark voices said at once.

A loud droning could be heard. The fog began to swirl above his head. The very bottom section of his skyfortress lowered from the fog. He sent creatures to Yuzuki's location. Hiding in a tower wouldn't help her. Then, a new idea formed in his brilliant mind. He called off the monsters. He flew up to his fortress. As soon as he entered the control room the construct lifted back into the sky. The fog returned to it's original color. The eye of Xana disappeared from the sky. He disappeared from the grid and retreated into his Inversion.

He activated a mind link to Mitch.
'This link is secure, even from Yuzuki. Continue you mission. Learn as much as you can. I have plans coming into fruition and you will be well rewarded. ' he sent.

Mitch utilized the link, thinking his response back to XANA. Yes sir. Though you should know that I do this of my own free will. I need no other reward than access to your supercomputer. I will do what I can from here, and I will attempt to gain their trust. Though I doubt it will last long. Yuzuki appears to know more than she's telling. She may suspect something. Like how I survived your attack with half my health, for one thing.

Mitch glanced up at Yuzuki. "So what now? What do we do? Does Xana have some....headquarters or something?"

Alexis stood and walked into the Tower, blinking and pursing her lips. A hologram appeared before her, and she saw numerous words and numbers; she noted, with amusement, that the word "rainbow" had letters in the colours of the rainbow. "So.... We're supposed to help you fend off Xana, yes? Because, personally, I'm wondering how." She cocked her head, the hologram disappearing as she looked up at Yuzuki.

Mitch rolled his eyes and breathed slowly to keep his temper before turning to Alexis. "And did you not see how we beat him off just a moment ago? I used these..." he waved his claws at her. "...and Yuzuki used some sort of energy projection. How are we going to fend him off? Use your abilities, dimwit."

He breathed again, calming down a bit. "I'm....sorry. It's been a rough few weeks." And it had. He had designed his avatar, programmed his abilities, and cleaned up Xana's computer and scanners all while attending class. But they didn't need to know that.

"Headquarters? Yes, on a Lyoko copy in the Digital Sea. I discovered them in 2034."

Turning to Graham, Yuzuki smiled. "Yes. I've been able to hold up against Xana for sixteen years, and my sister was able to for 25 more. However, we both worked better with help."

Now facing Alexis, the Guardian of Lyoko said "Yes. This world has towers, much like this one. Tower VIII itself is my personal stronghold, and Xana can't access it, but he can use the other 66 towers to launch attacks in the real world. I am able to deactivate these towers and stop Xana's attacks, but I am vulnerable to Xana's monsters' attacks. If I lose all of my life points, I disappear forever, due to the fact that my human body has not been restored by the system yet.

That's not the only issue, though. In my memories reside the Keys to Lyoko. They're the source of my connection to Lyoko, and Xana, if he gets a hold of them, can use the Keys to control Earth. To that end, enter the squid-like monster some of you may have noticed earlier." Yuzuki pulled up a 3D hologram of the monster. "It's called the Scyphozoa, and it's literally designed to steal data, a la memories. The only known way to stop it is to cut off its tentacles. However, the person held by the monster (in most cases, I am its target, again due to Xana's search for the Keys) is paralyzed.

That's where you come in. You four can destroy the other monsters and damage the Scyphozoa into retreat in order to allow me access to Xana's towers."

Yuzuki's stats appeared before her in an instant. "341 life points. Not bad for facing Xana himself. I used up a little too much energy to fuel my dark bolts, though. I must attempt to address that problem when I next have an opportunity to reconfigure my digital matrix. Everyone, follow me! I'll give you a tour." The virtual girl dove over the edge of the tower's platform, and into a rapidly-moving data stream.

Tom stood in the shadows, listening quietly and absorbing information. He did not want to speak yet, or draw any attention to himself, so he watched intently as the spoke.

Xana floated in a room that seemed to have no end. Holographic data flowed around him. He frowned and dropped down to a platform below him.

"Keys. Worthless pieces of data that always seem to be out of my reach. This will not be allowed." he muttered.

He walked into a room that held all the information of the 66 towers. Only one was marked in green. That was Yuzuki's fortress. He held out his hand and two towers were activated. At the same time, monsters appeared around Yuzuki's tower. One was larger than the rest. Behemoth had been awakened.

Standing against a wall, Tom could hear the faint sound of rumbling from the outside. He had not been noticed yet, so he decided to take a step outside. By staying the shadows, his dark outfit concealed him while he found the exit. He almost yell in surprise when he found it, his hand fell through the wall and he lost all support. He kept himself quiet while moving the rest of his body to the outside of the tower to observe the source of the noise.

Tom almost fell due to the force, but he kept himself upright. Standing as tall as he could, Tom drew the Katana from his hip and held it in his left hand while he pulled a throwing knife from within his wraps.

Yuzuki returned to her tower at the first sign of attack.

Stepping outside, Yuzuki spots the Behemoth approaching the tower. "Damn. Hey, come on back to the platform. The tower shield'll get it! Every time, Xana forgets that detail! Tower VIII's protected by my father's energy!"

To prove Yuzuki's point, the tower lit up in Franz Hopper's cream color as the Behemoth approached the platform.

Tom ignored her calls as he ran forward, through the energy shield and towards the monsters. The first monsters to come near him looked like boxes on stubby legs. There were three of them, followed by much taller monsters with three eyes, and a massive grey sphere.

Tom started by throwing a knife into the eye shape on one of the boxes, and was rewarded with an explosion moments later. Lasers danced around him, growing nearer and nearer as time passed. Tom leaped into the air and landed atop another box, stabbing the eye on the side. From there, he jumped away as it exploded, leaving his sword behind. He grabbed the edge of a walker with one hand while he draw his Wakizashi and stabbed it from below.

Satisfied with his work, Tom turned away from his dead monsters and ran towards the force field as lasers impacted the ground all around him. Without warning or indication, everything slowed down, he turned over his shoulder to see that the sphere had opened to reveal another strange eye shape. A huge laser beam extended towards him, almost like a wall. Tom kicked his leg and jumped, spinning himself as he went parallel to the ground. Laser beams passed by him as the laser wall missed by barely an inch. He landed with a grace he had never felt before, and ran past the energy wall just as a laser impacted it where his head was.

The Behemoth stopped in front of tower. The new aura was dangerous. The beast lifted it's two massive arms. A black sphere formed between it's hands. The sphere grew. The Eye of Xana formed on it's forehead. Xana was now in control. The beast had been upgraded to be stronger. The Behemoth unleashed an ungodly roar.

Paris France

A presence quietly inserted itself into the transportation grid. It unleashed it's virus. In a minute, the grid would be his to corrupt.

Yuzuki reinforced the Tower VIII shield with her own energy. "This could get interesting!"

Suddenly realizing the names of the four who virtualized (thanks to the supercomputer, which finally woke up), Yuzuki turned toward Tom. "TOM!! Get the blazes in here! The Behemoth's about to fire! Mitch, Alexis, Graham, your help would be very much appreciated!"

Mitch looked up from where he was smashing little bulbous insect-like creatures into the ground with his claws. "Yeah? And what exactly am I supposed to do against that?" he gestured to the Behemoth. "I could gnaw at its ankles, perhaps." He then remembered something. One of the abilities he had programmed into his avatar. "I've got an idea! My avatar has some kind of ability called Bloodlust. It should boost my power tremendously. Let me try that."

Mitch ran back to the Tower and used his claws to climb the side of it, stopping a few dozen feet up. He turned and leapt off, landing on top of the creature. He planted his footclaws in the creature's head and let the ability take control. His form shifted, turning him into a feral wolf which leapt down from the Behemoth and began attacking it without regard for its own safety.

Graham had been silently following Yuzuki all along, simply listening to what was being said and making mental notes of everything. Though this world was very strange to him, he felt that the little he knew about it, he understood better than everything he knew about the 'real' world, however little sense that made. It didn't have to make sense. Very little ever did, to him at least.

When Yuzuki asked for help, Graham, without thinking about it, took his bow between his hands, and when he did so, it just felt... So right. As if it was meant to be. He noticed he had no arrows, but felt as if that mattered little. Instead, he simply drew the string back and, not completely unexpectedly, an arrow made of energy appeared on the bow. Graham aimed it at one of the monsters assaulting the tower, a strange walking box, and fired it, the arrow hitting the strange eye mark and causing the monster to explode. He continued firing off energy arrows in a similar fashion, feeling as if he had always known how to do so.

"But I don't know how," Alexis almost said, but the argument died in her throat as she felt a heat building up in her throat. She put her hands up to make the universal sign for choking, though she could breathe perfectly, and while she could feel the tremendous heat of the flame in her throat and knew that it should have been excruciating, it was barely a discomfort. She staggered out, and a fist-sized fireball exploded out of her mouth, hitting a box-like creature in the centre of the eye design on its side. She squealed a bit as the thing exploded, and closed her eyes instinctively, though she was far enough away from all of the explosions that, logically, she would be unaffected by them.
