28 JUNE 1914, ARCHDUKE FRANZ FERDINAND SHOT IN SARAJEVO

The Archduke and his wife were shot in their automobile in the streets of Sarajevo. Several were arrested and are under interrogation. The man who fired the killing shots is believed to be Gavrilo Princip, a Serbian nationalist and a member of "The Black Hand". Emperor Franz Josef has sent an ultimatum to Serbian officials and has promised war if the demands are not met.

President Raymond Poincaré sits at his desk reading the Parisian Gazette's article on the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand. He knows that Austria Hungary thirst for revenge and no matter how Serbia reacts to the ultimatum, there will be war.
President Poincaré calls for his ministers.
10 men enter the room and begin to discuss the situation at hand.
"Mr. President, the Russians will surely defend their Slavic brothers in Serbia" one of the men said to the President. "Do you recomend we stay in the alliance with them to achieve peace?"
"We will see what Germany does" The President says confidently. "If they invade Russia we will then and only then declare war. We cannot defeat them alone so it is of utmost importance they attack Russia as well."
The President rises and calls the telegraph operator.
"Martin! Get me the Brits! We must convince them to send aid should we be attacked."
The young telegraph operator runs off to send the message to London.
President Poincaré turns to the men, "Prepare France for war. We must begin mobilization immediately."

"We will not stand for this, our Serbian allies are threatened and war shall soon erupt."An old Russian general stepped forward, staring at the map with a stone cold gaze "We can have most of our forces assembled by the border in several weeks, the full mobilization may take one month." The Tsar nodded grimly "Very well... Livonia will most likely be reinforcing there western border... Now is the time for expansion. Prepare a force to invade Livonia and have a second force ready for counter measures.

Afonso Costa was sitting on his office as he received the shocking news. The PRP (Portuguese Republican Party), which he was leading, had advised him to take a close look on everything going outside the portuguese borders. But he hadn't thought he could receive news as those he just received on a telegram. The possible outbreak of a new war could be the perfect moment to establish a new Portugal, a very strong one.

"What do we do now?" Said Rui Martins, his secretary.
"Well, I think there is not pretty much we can do yet" Replied Afonso.
"Do you want me to check out what the United Kingdom will do?"
"That would be appropiate. The treaty of Windsor still stands after more than 500 years. We have to respect it."
"And also sir, what shall we say to Angola, Macau and Mozambique?"
"Just tell them to wait, we cannot take a position right now."

Meanwhile, throughout Portugal there is many people who would like to see the PRP out of power, and establish another party. Others want the monarch to come back. It seems that political convulsion will start if a war occurs.

Several men have gathered around a large map of France. Marshal Ferdinand Foch clears his throat and begins speaking to the men assembled.
"Gentlemen, I suggest we move 20 Divisions (1 Division= 100,000 men) to this line of defense along the cities of Verdun, Nancy and Belfort and on the Mosel river.

20 Army Divisions will stay put in the rear close by the capitol and 10 will be scattered amongst the colonies."
A man steps foreward, "What of the Navy?"
"We will have them protect out northen coast and protect our shipping lanes in the Mediterranian and in the Pacific. Until we are attacked, we will not make any agressive moves.

SMALL VILLAGE, SICHUAN, QING DYNASTY OF CHINA, 1914

On a Farm in a farm in Sichuan Province, large groups of peasant farmers raise their fists, shouting "Unity is the only route!" As soldiers of the Qing Dynasty, armed with Single shot Bayonets, and wearing old itchy uniforms. The Farmers held any weapon they could find, from Bayonets to Pitchforks. They started to yell for the blood of the War lords, prohibiting the unity of a Chinese state. Rice Farmers walked by, looking onward, as a banner, a Red banner flew on an old flag pole, a man, no older than Fifty two, stood, the attention of the crowd, he wore a Workers uniform. Appearing to be prepared to read a speech off to the horde of Farmers, as the horde grew, most wearing simple clothing, and sun hats, the man, identified as Fan Tou Han, stood, as the head of the people, the Imperial Units started to run back to their base, clearly frightened by the crowd.

Fan started to speak, clearly his throat, as he fired one shot in the air, to silence the crowd, saying; "Thank you. Now! My Brothers, we unite! We ARE China, the farmers, we live out our days living in poverty! in the threat of Imperial rule attacking us! I say, No More! We will be FREE men! Our victory is defined by our actions! our actions are defined by our thoughts! we will take NO MORE from Europe! their rule has impoverished us for TOO long! We will start the revolution here! then we will move to our brothers in the East, Chongqing! our revolution will not stop till the last drop of blood from our Corrupt, Oppressive ruler is shed, I will NOT take defeat as an answer, Now! We have MANY troubles, our state. We must light the fire in Shandong and Guangdong, Our troubles will be many, my brothers! But do not forget, You ARE Chinese!"

The crowd erupted as the cracks of guns erupted, Imperial troops opened fire on the crowd, to make them disband, farmers ran, as the bodies of Fifty men laid on the wet dirt, leaving a cold stare. Fan hid in his hut, wear he placed a peace of paper on the first flat spot he could find, and started to write as he heard the crack of guns, and yells, he started to sing softly in Chinese, as he placed his feather quill to the paper, hoping not to be caught by Imperial forces, he wrote a letter to the French Government, hoping to be helped.

President Poincare recieves a telegraph from Fan Tou Han discussing the situation in China. He calls in Martin, the telegraph operator and has him type out a letter.

TO: Fan Tou Han of China

FROM: President Raymond Poincaré of France

Dear Mr. Han, I have caught wind of your attempt to reunify China and I am glad to hear that you seek France as an ally. Both China and France would benefit from this

alliance. In order for this alliance to work I will need you to prevail in your efforts to gain control of China first. If you were able to establish a foothold on the border of

French Indo-China (Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia), I will gladly begin to ship in supplies to your people. I understand you have no way to pay France for these supplies so

consider this our risky investment. We will give you all these goods for free on the grounds that if you do succede in your revolution and get China on her feet, we will be

repayed without intrest and with the promise of an alliance. Good luck Mr. Han.

Emergency Convocation of Council Ministers

" The fire of war looms all around us, gentlemen. This will be a difficult storm to emerge unscathed." The Prime Minister Pieter Cort van der Linden sighed as he stroke his beard.

" The Triple Entente and The Triple Alliance is beginning to solidify and mobilzing their soldiers. We will be surrounded on all sides by war." Councilman Wilhem Aaronsborg chipped in.

" We must support the Germany! She has been our important trading partner for time and time again. And have you forgotten how the arrogant British snatched the South Africa and murdered our people, our kin of the Orange State? It is about time somebody stood up to their tyranny." Councilman Mulder Ten-Kate shouted, his face betraying fury and passion hidden within.

" And then what, Councilman Ten-Kate?" Prime Minsiter shouted as he slammed the table, "And then what? Then Entente will invade us. We are a small and weak country. We cannot defend our own land if the Entente decides to attack. This entire land will be reduced to nothing but rubbles that the Alliance and the Entente will squabble over for few more patches of soil."

Councilman Petyr Voortsman interjected "But, Prime Minister, the Alliance and the Entente both have great interest in us. The Entente will want us for the riverway into the Rhine, and to blockade Germany from the world and the Alliance will want us for the riverway into the Meuse, our navy and our shipyards. We will not be able to stand alone, we need to take a side." The old man stated with exacerbated look.

"And of course, we can be used just as easily to open up a new front for them..." Another Councilman chimed in.

"No, gentlemen. We cannot take a side in this war. Participating in this war will lay us in irreparable ruin! We must remain neutral." Councilman Oerik van Heineken commented, igniting the flurry of arguments between the pro-Alliance, pro-Entente and the neutrals.

"What to do... what to do, indeed...." The Prime Minister sighed once more.

June 30th, 1914

As the sun crept low beyond the horizon, a young messenger boy named Kenta bounded down the narrow streets, fearing his time had run dry. He was just 100ft from the door to The Emperor's castle. Inside, Emperor Taishō had held a meeting for the fourth time in the week with his commanding officers, generals, and advisors. It wasn't long ago that the Archduke of Austria Hungary had been assassinated, assumably by Serbian nationalists, but of course, these were the trickles Japan had picked up on from the western world. Within the ancient castle, one of the last of its kind and only used during emergencies of national proportion, there were seventeen hundred rooms. Emperor Taishō met with his staff in the largest room, located in the central most region of the castle, and the only room directly accessible from the entrance. Their fourth meeting had started only shortly before the telegram being carried by the messenger boy had arrived to Japan.

At 10:30, the Emperor gathered his staff in the 'war room' to discuss the immense tension in Europe.
"Gentlemen, as you may know, my greatest concern lies with our Empire. It has come to my attention that Europe is mobilizing, and there seems to be little any other nation can do to avert it," The Emperor paused, swallowed hard, and continued, "War is coming, gentlemen, and we are ill prepared to support our European allies should we be faced with said notion. I intend for this gathering to be a discussion on our economy and how we will be able to support a mass mobilization, as well as planning for our primary targets in southeast asia."

Yamagata Aritomo, the Field Marshal of the IJA, spoke from his vast strategic knowledge, "Emperor, our problem lies within our system. We are not nearly as militaristic as Germany or England, and yet you call for mobilization. I advocate that we allow the Europeans to work out their problems, while we take advantage of their war to start one of our own. Asia is a ripe, delicious fruit, ready to be plucked for the beautiful woman that is our great nation. We know the Russians will be just as hungry as soon as Germany is dealt with, why not focus on expanding ourselves now, before it's too late?"

The Field Marshal was responded to by silence. The Emperor spoke closely with his most trusted advisor, and several high ranking general conversed, no doubt about the benefits of expanding. The Emperor nodded, and looked at Yamagata, "You speak bold words, Field Marshal Yamagata, and it has been noted that the Chinese suffer from years of civil war. While Europe is engulfed in flames, their Asian territories would be at their most vulnerable. However, what you suggest requires a larger army than can be found here. I will not dismiss your implied hypothetical expansion into Asia, but we must find a more feasible way than conscription to grow our might, and I cannot begin to think of the disaster it would inflict on our economy. You forget we are not the industrialist of the west."

Yamagata had prepared a counter statement, "But Emperor, the industrial tactics used in the west are more possible than you think. I have written a proposal that would multiply conscription numbers by four, and double our industrial efficiency. Our only job would be to liberate Manchuria from the Chinese and---"

The messenger boy burst through the doors, bowing, and lifted the letter to The Emperor. "What is this, boy?" Called an advisor. The young man replied in a whimpering tone, "It's a telegram, a notice, telling of a 'second revolution' in China."

The Emperor spoke, "Yamagata, your proposal will have to wait. Message the Imperial Chinese government and inform them that Japan has no definite position on the revolution at this time. Make sure they understand that we are as ready to support them as quickly as we are the revolutionaries."

"Yes, Emperor, right away," the man crawled out of the room, keeping himself from seeing the Emperor.

The emperor Franz Joseph awaits the arrival of his guests.
At 3:15pm the four guests arrived, those were the foreign minister (Leopold Berchtold) the president of Austria (Karl von Stürgkh) the president of Hungary (István Tisza), the chief of the general staff (Franz Conrad von Hötzendorf) and finally the grand admiral of the imperial navy (Anton Haus).
He had already planned the mass requiem of his nephew,he was clearly shocked by the death of his nephew.

As the guests leaves the room the emperor thinks if its worthy to provoke the greatest and deadliest war mankind would ever see, after all he didint like his nephew.

The PM heard about the shooting. War would be inevitable. Hiwever, his country was in a good position. The navy had been built up since 1906 in the race with Germany, but the armed forces needed work. The order was given to recruit another 120000 people over the next couple of months

Kaiser Willhem had had a lot to think about recently. Austria was under attack from Russia, and he knew France would mobilize if he did. He was confident he could easily crush Russia, with their inferior troops and weapons, but he wasn't as sure about France. If he was to defeat France, he would first have to isolate her. Although he still wasn't sure that he would take on France, he decided he could never be too careful. He ordered a rampup in the production in the navy, especially in Undersea Boats, or as the men called them, U-Boats. He also ordered as many men as could be mobilized to get ready. He sends 6,000,000 men to Prussia and eastern Germany, to guard in case Russia got any ideas. It would be hard for France to justify an attack if Germany were the defender. Meanwhile, another 7,500,000 men were sent to the border with France and Belgium. He also orders some of his generals to Austria-Hungary to advise the less-experienced military defend, along with some German artillery, guns, and food. Meanwhile, he writes up letters to some important players in the world.

Meanwhile, Kaiser Willhem also orders what forces he has in Africa to get ready for a long fight. He says "Boys, I fear that a great fight may be coming, and it might not be limited to Europe. So, I must ask you to say goodbye to your wives and lovers, and make friends with your horses and right hands, for this shall be a long fight, and you certainly shant be getting any!"

Another meeting has been called for by Marshal Ferdinand Foch concerning Germany.
"Gentlemen, I have contacted Belgian conformants on German troop movements." Foch pulls out a new map of defences.

"A large amounts of German troops have been sent near the borders of France and Belgium. We have an open left flank, Gentlemen. We must send 16 French Divisions to set up defenses along the Somme and the Marne. We are leaving all cities on the northern side of the rivers unprotected and they must be evacuated immediately"
The men gathered begin to murmer.
"Yes it must be done to save those poor souls from the evil huns."

Sapa, French Indo-China
Small French vessels carrying supplies for the Chinese rebels have traveled up the Red River and set up a compound in Sapa where they will wait for the rebels to open up a supply line. Among the supplies are weapons and ammunition as well as food and clothing.
President Poincare has a telegram sent to Fan Tou Han letting him know the supplies are ready and are awaiting passage.

Fan Tou Han enjoyed his life after the first day, the successful revolution. The small farmers in his village managed to take on the Imperial guard and win, taking heavy casualties sadly... but it was a victory none the less, as Fan Tou Han, rose his revolutions banner on the Imperial guard house, the farmers cheered. Fan Tou Han's unification revolution was starting to kick off, as they sent a caravan to Indochina. Fan opened a letter, which was from the Kaiser. China would be a major fighting point. He coughed as he sat down. A war is what might be needed. In realism, was their truly a Qing dynasty? Or was it men ruling its borders? War lords. He scoffed thinking about them. As he looked at the door a young China man handed him a piece of paper written for him. He read it, waving the young boy off. He took out an old piece of paper and started to write to Germany and France, who appeared quite interested in the land he held. But he wrote very quickly, he had acquired word that the supplies were at the Red River, and the Rebellion's caravan would be heading to the Red river to pick up the supplies. The supplies would be necessarily important, as Yunnan province had joined the revolution. Chengdu areas appeared to be wanting the revolution.

I am sincerely pleasured to have received such a tempting offer in such short notice. Your words give my efforts in the revolution new vigor. I take your lastly noted words to my thoughts. It brings me comfort that a very possible ally can admit to the past faults of his country to another's.

Your proposed offer of guns, ammo, and food is greatly needed as you may be able to tell. Keeping such in mind, I would need to know what you have in mind for the amount's of supplies you may intend to supply, so that I may plan accordingly and keep such thoughts in mind. As you understand, dear Kaiser, my people who send this revolution to it's feet need such supplies to both protect themselves and keep themselves alive. My thoughts have lingered over the possibility of getting a smaller pre-shipment of guns, ammo, and food so that our revolution will be able to speed along faster and ensure its ability to survive the hard times. I know we currently have nothing to offer you that may help you in this war at the current moment, but as soon as we gain the ability to protect our people we will be able to produce food that will help our joined cause. As such our excess food may be given out to the armies fighting as well, to allow less being taken from the cause. As such, as soon as we have enough men and supplies to cover our own border, and to meet your words of watching the French, Russian and Japanese, we will supply as many men as we can muster to your armies.

In following, we still need to get to this point, which also begs me to cause the same uprising question I find that comes with my other options. What will we gain from joining your side, besides the guns, ammo, and food during the war? Our thoughts focus on our former brothers in the south. Such being said, the land in which they inhibit is appealing to us and to our cause. With that being said, the cities Shēnchéng and Hēunggóng are also extremely important to our ideals. As well, infrastructure and manufacturing lay potent at the top of my mind.

As I say this I understand that these too are extremely desirable to any such country. Our first wanted city-ports would be open to you out of gratification and due cause with your involvement in bringing them back into their traditional hands. We aspire to keep a just amount of Chinese tradition as well as new world modification in this preposition.

I would like to state that we could and would have the ability to provide men, or a sufficient amount of people to create a home fighting force against the Japanese and the Russians if they do decide to start an attack upon us, my only thought on this is that we may not, and will likely not, have enough force with small guns, in such cases a larger, more powerful machinery will most likely be needed.

I will be more than happy to return more words with you on issues and thoughts that make be provoked with a reply, for my thoughts do not end here, but I do not wish to plunge your thoughts in too fast a rushing river.

The president sat in his room, cigar in his mouth, reading about the assasination. He didn't know what to do about about the other countries building up their armies, it would make tensions rise. The president had called for his generals for advice for the situation.

"If we can't stop them from having a war, then embargo the Central Powers."
The general said, sipping a glass of water.
"In the mean-time, prepare to immobilize troops to allied nations to Europe."
He added, siting back in his seat awaiting a reply.
"It seems like a splendid idea! I'll send a telegram to our allies."

President Raymond Poincare sits at his desk reading a telegram sent from China. It confirms that a caravan will be reaching the borders of Indo-China soon to pick up the supplies and asks what China will gain after the revolution and after the wars are over. A telegram is sent back

FROM: President Raymond Poincare of France

Greeting Mr Han,

I would just like to clarify that China will not be joining the Entente but will be forming an alliance only with France should you choose so. By joining this alliance, France

would offer you protection from Russia and Japan should they decide to attack. You must make your decision soon because if you should join sides with Germany and her

allies I will need to cut the free supplies and redirect them where it will most benefit France. I will need you decision some time soon.

"Then it is decided, The Kingdom of Netherlands will declare armed neutrality with odds of favour 8 to 4." The Prime Minister Pieter Cort van der Linden declared after banging the gabel twice.

"All in favour of enacting the War Measures Act?" Another set of hands went up.

"All opposed?" No hands were raised this time.

"Then it is decided, The Kingdom of Netherlands hereby declare War Measures Act in effect starting 2200 hours of July 2nd of 1914."

"Minister of Foreign Affairs, please write an open letter and deliver it to all Entente and Alliance nation of our decision. Minister of Defense, please gather together the National Defense Council, rest of you all know what to do." The Prime Minister stroke his beard as he solmely spoke.

Kaiser Willhem continued to see the events around him unfold. France had responded to his precautionary movements with startling speed. He decided Germany would have to do something soon if he was to move against France. He ordered not only an increase of production in ships and weapons, but also an increase in patrols in the North Sea. Although no ships are sunk, Germany makes her point. Her navy is here, and if neccessary, she will take on any adversary.

Secret Military Base, Location Withheld

"So you're sure it will work?" "I'd better hope so. I've got too much riding on this." A German High Command officer speaks with a scientist that claims to have potential for a new weapon. "Enough talk. Let us see what it can do."Very well. Follow me, if you would." The scientist leads the Officer and his entourage to a bunker near what looks like a large firework. "Alright, Roderick, if you would." The scientist motions his assistant to light the fuse for the rocket. The fuse quickly burns and the rocket flies hundreds of feet in the air in seconds. The officer gets a twinkle in his eye. "Ya." he says. "I do think we can do something with this. Good work, my man. You have our attention."

German-French Border

7,000,000 have been mobilized into action to invade France. Rather than attack France directly, they swing through Belgium. Little resistance is met, and what is is quickly and swiftly dealt with. Within a few weeks, Germany should be deep in France. They move as quickly as they can, as to reach France before it can be fully fortified. Meanwhile, almost all of Germany's U-Boats are deployed to the English Channel to harass shipping supplies. Instructions are to warn British and Chinese ships, but to sink American and Russian ones on sight,

Meanwhile, the Kaiser sits down and writes another letter to the Chinese. He writes:

Unlike in France, Germany throws all she has at Russia. 6,000,000 men now plow into an already unstable Russia. With most of Russia busy fighting Austria in the south, Germany now rush through a relatively unguarded Russia. Morale in men is high, and many believe that Moscow will be waving the German colors in mere months.

German Africa:

Scores of Colonial soldiers are sent to attack French positions in their colony. Early attacks are met with mixed results, but many are successful. Hopes are high for gaining new territories from France in Africa.

King Carl XVI presided over a proud yet small nation. Well, smaller than he'd like it to be. He had grown up learning and reading about a great Sweden now gone, one that not even the great Russian bear dared challenge. He planned on restoring that, no matter what the cost. He ordered Sweden's army of 200,000 up to arms. It wasn't much, but it what a start. He knew that if he wanted powers to take him seriously, he would have to hold their interests. Knowing that the UK and the rest of the allies got much of their Iron ore for manufacturing in Norway, he'd start there. He sent his whole army to attack the Norwegians. The first skirmished indicate that success is very likely, and Norway will once again kneel to Sweden, as it always should. Carl decides not to take sides in the ongoing war. At least not yet.

15 July 1914
Millions of Germans flood into northern France easily taking the half evacuated region north of the French stronghold on the Somme river. There is no fight until the Germans approach the entrenched position along the Somme. 1.5 million French soldiers heavily dug in, backed by walls of artillery guns stare down the German invaders. They are outnumbered but they are prepared to defend their homeland. To the south, its a different story. The Germans barely push their way into French territory before being stoped at the line of defenses at Verdun and at other fortified cities further south. France is surprised that the Germans have attacked so soon. They knew they would have to fight Germany but not now. The French Parliment was called to have an emergency meeting and passed a declaration of war on Germany unanimously.

VILLAGE OF KY, UNITED CHINESE TERRITORIES, 1914

Chinese United soldiers ran to take the supplies of the wagon, the French supplies. The supplies were placed in a farming hut, where two tall men, guarded the hut, wielding impressive guns. Mobs of people started to gather on the street, singing about victory, as the Chinese rebels started to assemble their invasion to Guizhuo, one of the only western provinces standing with the Emperor, as about all of the Western provinces joined, in the treaty of Xining to fight for a united China, in which all men, will have more power.

A man stormed into Fan's hut, handing him two letters, he was very young, in his teens, he stood straight, saluting Fan and said; "Your Mail sir! Two letters, one from France, the other from the Kaiser!" he left the hut, after handing Fan the letters, he opened the first one, from France.

"They threaten me?! They threaten ME?!" He was full of rage as he read the letter, the French were afraid. He could tell, but threatening to cut off all 'free' supplies to his State, that was the last of it, he walked outside, throwing the letter on the wet mud, stamping it in, they had angered the wrong man. He opened the German letter, feeling, more calm. He understood, the Germans had both of their interests in mind. But it appeared the Franks were out to help themselves, China could offer, Epic amounts of peasant militia, enough to turn any tide. He smiled. As he pulled another piece of paper he heard the roar of a stolen vehicle outside his hut.

Fan gave the news to the populace; "Brothers, we are men of an old age, a new new people, a good people, destined for China, to rule China, as our ancestors have requested, we have brought them pride, my family has brought me pride, from my children down, I AM proud. As should you be, now, I have just created an alliance with the righteous German empire! But... I have 'betrayed' the French, but alas, they are occupying our brethren to the South, and with the German empire helping us, we will LIBERATE the Indochinese area! And eliminate the French presence from the reason, with the help of Germany! LONG LIVE CHINA!" He raised his fist as he yelled, along with the unison of the horde of peasants.

With this, growing unrest in reaching all across Russia. Despite the words of his advisors, Kaiser Willhem refuses to send Russian rouge Vladimir Illyitch Lenin to stir trouble. Instead, he is bound and gagged in the middle of the night, brought to a secret facility, and shot in the head no less than fifty times, as well as several hundred torso shots, and even castration, as per say of the Kaiser himself. Many in Russia already assume Lenin dead, so none shall miss him.

WEST SIAM, BANGKOK, CHINESE REVOLUTIONARY CARAVAN

The German ships were loading off, as the Chinese revolutionaries took the supplies, graciously, looking for what they acquired, the caravan started to haul off the food first, quickly moving it out to the capital, Ky, where it shall be used to form up an army, the weapons were taken by the peasant soldiers, and moved by oxen were also the clothes and ammunition. Another thing being moved was; the 'shade' gas, six Buddhist monks, wearing a few of the gas masks given to them, moved the crates of the gas onto a truck heading to Ky, as Farmers watched. The movement was going very well.

When the supplies were moved off the vessels, a large mob (150,000) of peasant conscripts moved onto the vessels, after exchanging goodbyes with their families, they departed for Tanzania, which would be a deciding point in the conflict the Chinese believed.

Our brothers to the south, are in dire need of our revolutionary army, rest assured, we WILL save them from the actions of France. We are formally declaring war on the French government in Indochina! We will fight them, to drive them out of the places were they drove us out, till persecution is NO more! I am planning to send three forces, all composing of fifteen thousand Chinese regular line infantry, to commence an invasion, but if that fails, we will conscript an army of TWO million men, armed, boths armies armed with weapons given to us by Germany! We declare war today, and march tomorrow to Hanoi, Prepare to fight! Unity or death!" Cheers erupted from the crowds as people, in the crowds raised their fists.

To Whichever Nation it May Concern

The Kingdom of the Netherlands hereby declare armed neutrality to the world. We shall not favour nor side with any single nation and maintain unbiased and fair neutrality. We shall divide our forces to army, air force, navy and the colonial expeditionary force. That is the general overlay of the plan, Prime Minister." An elderly general reported.

"We already have excellent infrastructure in place and sufficient industry to meet the quotas. However, since the start of war, Germany would most likely wish to import more and more goods. Also, we may require to expand our shipbuilding system to meet the quotas of planned naval growth. We will probably need to expand industrial structures as well. As for the colonial development, we will need to accelerate in resource production, shipbuilding and infrastructure building just in case we may need to establish a government-in-exile."

"Good, anything else you wish to appraise me of, Commander-in-Chief?"

"Look here, Prime Minister. The East Indies, in the past, both the Alliance and the Entente freely travelled through between the Malay Peninsula and the Sumatra. But if we are to block our waters, they will have no choice but to sail the long way around, going past the German held Papua, Samoa, Solomon Islands and so forth. The Entente will not risk such dangerous route. As for the Alliance, past us, there is the French Indo-China and British Malaya which can send out ships to intercept any Alliance ships. So, if we block the waters and charge the Entente ships... "fair" price and transfer the Alliance cargo in our ships for transportation, they would both be relatively safe and we will profit greatly. Our powers were traditionally from trade. We can profit greatly this way, as well as from the normal trade with resource hungry nations which will pile around us."
