Rivverun, 298 AL, Month 2, Day 2

Edmure was standing bolt upright, having two squires help attach his armour when Lord Jason Mallister walked in. "My Lord, you wished to speak to me?" he asked. "Yes, I am giving you 3,000 of our men from Acorn Hall, and another thousand from Acorn Hall. Take those, and you will have an army of 6,000. Rally at Seagard, and await the remainder of our forces. Ravens have been sent and those bannermen already march to you. Make sure they are well fed and trained, I will be joining you with the majority of our forces soon. Tywin Lannister has come to meet me at Riverrun, and we will set off together." Mallister was shocked, but nodded his head and set out immediately. Edmure checked his sword's edge briefly, then marched tot he courtyard, to find Lord Jonos Bracken waiting. "Bracken, take your 3,000 newly trained men to the Twins and dispatch them to Lord Frey for any uses he sees fit then return to me immediately. He drew lord Jonos close, and slipped a piece of parchment into his hand. "Read this alone, and make sure you burn it afterwards. May the Warrior give you strength." Jonos nodded, then mounted his horse, rearing and leading his guards away. All of Riverrun was in a flurry of activity, with thousands of soldiers preparing to march, but none knew where. "Vymon! My quill, be quick!"

To: Tywin Lannister
From: Edmure Tully
Concerning: The cold winds rising

My Lord,

We prepare our forces as you march to us, Bring a great host, for one will be needed. I write this to you as I am about to depart for Fairmarket, to join forces with more of my men there. I will have advisors and men waiting for you at Riverrun. May the Crone guide you to safety.

-Edmure

"Send that by riders, at least three. Go!" he barked at his Maester who walked briskly to the stables, scribbling copies as he walked. Edmure mounted his horse and whistled, his knights surrounding his as bodyguards and marching to Fairmarket.

Riverrun, 298 AL, Month 2, Day 4

Edmure was in the yard, facing off against one of the knights in his personal guard, training with tourney swords. Edmure slashed, and felt his sword meet a parry that deflected it towards the ground. The knight made a stab at Edmure's exposed left, but he knocked it away with his shield. He then dropped his red and blue shield to the ground, taking his blade in two hands. Hack, slash, recover. Hack, parry, slash, recover. He thought, panting as they danced around the yard. Several of the men-at-arms jeered and cheered for Edmure of the knight, but Edmure knew it was time to instil a lesson for these young men. He feinted, then parried a clumsy thrust made by his opponent, kicking one leg out from under him and watching him land on the hard-packed earth. The armoured man let out a 'whoompf' and Edmure stabbed his sword down, implanting it in the dirt next to his head. He stood, and turned to the crowd. "There is no doubt we will soon be at war. We have to fight and kill, because you do not win wars by dying, you win wars by making some other poor bastard die!" He helped the knight up, embraced him and laughed, then saw Vymon was reading a letter. He paced over, wondering what could be troubling his Maester.

"Vymon, what troubles you?" he asked courteously.
"A raven came from Eddard Stark, he wishes for you to marry Sansa, and overthrow Joffrey. He also signed the King of Winter, but doesn't a wldling called Mance Rider or somewhat call himself that? I thought it was the King in the North. However my Lord, he wishes for you to call your banners and march on King's Landing." Edmure frowned, and read the paper. He sat next to Vymon, stretching his legs and running fingers through his red hair, pondering what this meant for the Tullys. "Tell Stark to send my sister to meet with me once he crosses the Twins. I have not seen here in a while. Make sure she comes with Sansa, I wish to meet my bride. Also ensure that an escort is there, none to big but not to small either. Vymon, send it by Raven quickly, and make sure the Freys remember their allegiance to House Tully. With business concluded, he returned to the yard, watching an axeman and swordsman dance of death.

To: Eddard Stark, Lord of Winterfell
From: Edmure Tully, Lord of Riverrun
Concerning: Marriage and War

Ned,

I appreciate all that you have said, although these accusations are fierce and troublesome, I will stand by you. I only ask that upon crossing the Twins, you send Sansa and Catelyn to me, I wish to meet my bride as well as my sister. My heart grieves for my father, and I think it would be best for use to pray in the sept for his soul.

I shall call my banners, and march North to meet your forces. I shall succeed in the assisting of a great house, and shall soon meet my loyal brother-in-law.

Hear Me Roar

Casterly Rock, 298 AL, Month 2, Day 7

Tywin Lannister studied more maps and parchments silently, pausing only to drink from a goblet of spiced dornish wine. He had received the ravens from House Tully and House Tyrell. He was pleased with House Tyrell confirming the alliance between House Lannister and House Tyrell. Combined they were able to muster more troops than any other Great House in the Seven Kingdoms, it gave him a numerical advantage in the upcoming conflict with the Northern Rebellion. His concerns with King Joffrey's lineage and birthright will have to wait with reports from his youngest son Tyrion. He bore no loss love for the deformed midget Lord but Tywin was aware of Tyrion's astute observation skills and formidable mind, surely Tyrion would be able to get to the bottom of these claims against honour of House Lannister and the Iron Throne. He was aware that House Stark would be calling in all its banners in the North and most likely even calling on the Eyrie to muster its forces, he remembered his raven to the Eyrie, promising that the Lannisters will not invade the Vale until the Northern Rebellion was settled but should the Eyrie decide to join the North....

His intelligence has reported to him of Lord Renly gathering a sizable host at Storm's End without any aims or purpose with this host. Does he intend on marching against King's Landing? Even if he chooses to, his army would be too small to take on the formidable defences of King's Landing. His daughter and sons would be safe there for now, Tywin shook his head at the thought of Cersei, his foolish daughter who thinks herself to be some kind of brilliant tactician and politician. Once he settles the Northern Rebellion, he will march on King's Landing and settle the distasteful issue of Joffrey's Birthright and lineage. The Lannister House honour is at stake here. Ser Kevan Lannister entered the room, he was no longer wearing the red robes of a Lannister but is now wearing the red and golden armor of the Lion. Being the richest Great House of all the Seven Kingdoms, House Lannister spared no expense in equipping its troops and commanders with the finest in military hardware and technology, it gave the troops a huge morale boost and made them formidable in combat.

"My Lord Tywin, our armies are mustered. We await your orders."

"Excellent. Maester, I believe you have a tome with the names of the Lords of the North?" He waved for Kevan Lannister to sit at the conference table in his study. The Maester shuffled off to his office to retrieve a ponderous tome, several hundred pages thick and clasped together by a great lock with the symbol of the Stark Direwolf. "Ah yes My Lord here it is." Tywin took the book and unclasped the lock, he flipped aimlessly, studying the names of the minor houses and lords that have swore fealty to the Wolf.

"Excellent. Maester ensure this letter is copied and sent to all the minor houses of the North such as Bolton and Karstark and to House Stark. Have this letter sent to Highgarden immediately and this to Riverrun."

"At once My Lord."

"Kevan, here are my orders, you will take a host of 15,000 Lannisters and march for the Vale. Do not enter the Vale but remain at its borders. You are to ensure that the Vale remains neutral and does not join the Northern Rebellion, should they declare support for the North, march into the Vale and crush whatever towns, armies and villages you come across. Do not seige the Eyrie itself. I will take the rest of our host of 30,000 Lannisters and march to Riverrun. There I will march Northwards. We will restore the King's Peace."

"What of Lord Renly's army?"

"Should they do anything against House Lannister or King's Landing, you have your discretion to intervene. Should the need arise, coordinate your forces with whatever troops my daughter has mustered from the Crownlands."

"At once."

To: Lord Mace Tyrell, Lord Of The Reach
From: Lord Tywin Lannister, Lord Of The Westerlands
Subject: Marching Orders

Mace Tyrell, it is decided then, House Lannister and House Tyrell will bound by alliance. With our combined military might, no force within the Seven Kingdoms will be able to stand up against us. I have mustered the entirety of House Lannister and we have begun marching towards Riverrun. I suggest that you send the Tyrell Host towards Riverrun at once. There we will march against the Northern Rebellion immediately. We must restore the King's Peace at once.

Tywin Lannister
Lord Paramount Of The West
Lord Of The Westerlands
Lord of Casterly Rock
Shield of Lannisport
Warden of the West

To: All Houses Of The North
From: Lord Tywin Lannister, Lord of the Westerlands
Subject: Surrender

Houses of the North, your Lord Eddard Stark is leading you into a massacre. Even now the Lion is gathering strength and readying its troops for war. This is an action that is regrettable and completely avoidable if your Lord had simply just bend his knee to the Iron Throne. Lord Eddard Stark and the House Stark is branded as traitors against the Iron Throne and soon the wrath of the Lion will descend upon the North. I am offering the Houses of the North this one chance to surrender and pledge fealty to House Lannister. Should you choose not to do so, the Southern Kingdoms will crush the Rebellion and traitors will be punished with the King's Justice.

Tywin Lannister
Lord Paramount Of The West
Lord Of The Westerlands
Lord of Casterly Rock
Shield of Lannisport
Warden of the West

Riverrun, 298 AL, Month 2, Day 18

Twyin rode at the head of the Lannister Host, his brother Kevan had already separated his Host and continued marching towards the Vale. In the distance, Tywin could see the castle of Riverrun, the seat of power for House Tully. He could also see bannermen gathering around the castle. "So House Tully is massing its troops as well.."

Moat Cailin 298 AL Month 2 Day 8

Eddard sat and read the two letters one was good the other was bad. " Maester send a message on to Ser Rodrick to tell him to bring Sansa and Cat down to Twins where I will meet them. " Eddard said rising to look out the window of the tower men milled around wary of the bogs around them and even know he could see boats directed by the cannogmen ferrying his men across while others carried on down the road. He would have to make good time if he wanted to meet up with Edmure and join their forces then he would turn and march towards the Vale and join up with Arryn then they would have an unstoppable force with with to destroy the Lannisters before killing Joffery and gaining his independence. He rose and left the room got on his horse and rode off after his men he needed to move fast.

To Tywin Lannister Grandfather of Joffery Rivers King of Incest on both sides.
I do not fear you Tywin you are a man who kills babes and whose dynasty includes a dishonourable bastard who beds their own sister so you better fear for your life because Tywin Lannister Winter is Coming and you are on it's list to kill.

The Twins, 298 AL, Month 2, Day 10.

Lord Walder was afraid. He would never admit it, but deep inside his heart, fear swelled and swelled. Fear for his sons, his keep, his smallfolk and above all, his life. It seems as like the entire world was coming down the Twins and he knew he was going to cut some cords sooner or later... Three days ago, Walder Rivers' free riders had heard rumours of the Starks crossing the Neck, whilst the Tullys were nowhere to be seen. He had ordered al his foot, now totalling 5,250 men to mass at the Twins. Now they had gathered and he had assembled them in the castle. Now he needed to wait what was coming, but he had no idea what that would be. For the first time in his live, Walder was running out of patience...

King's Landing, Month 2, Day 9

Cersei Lannister was on the walls of the Red Keep, looking out towards the West. Her younger brother was surely well on his way to King's Landing now. She was worried, but hoped that Tyrion's love of Jamie would be enough for him to give a favorable report back to their lord father, Tywin. Still it hurt her pride that her life may hang in the hands of her younger brother, whom she had ridiculed for most of his life. Somewhere deep inside she felt a chill. The days had gotten shorter and there seemed to be more clouds over the typically picturesque city of King's Landing.

She looked down at Jaime practicing swords with the young Tommen. Still a plump, innocent child, Tommen ran around with an oversized helm swinging with his sword at a laughing Jaime, still glistening in the armor of the Kingsguard.

Cersei smiled. She must be strong. Not just for Joffery or her House but also for Tommen and Myrcella. Innocent and lovely children whom anybody with a heart would adore. If only they knew the slanders that Jon Arryn and Eddard Stark had been throwing around. "Incestuous spawn, dishonorable bastards." It made her blood boil just thinking about it.

To: Ser Gregor Clegane
From: Queen Regent Cersei Lannister
Concerning: Your March North

You are to make haste to Saltpans, the Tullys have need of your swords as reinforcements. Force march the men if you have too, but I want you at the town within 2-3 days.

Seal,
Cersei Lannister,
Queen Regent of the Seven Kingdoms

To: Ser Aron Santagar
From: Queen Regent Cersei Lannister
Concerning: Defense in the Kingswood.

Take 400 good light swords and March South along Blackwater Bay to the Northern reaches of the Kingswood. If Renly dares to march North, I want you in the trees. To take King's Landing, Renly would need a large force with good Morale. So should he march through the Kingswood to get us, you are to make his men miserable. Charge his flank then disappear into the woods, lay booby traps. Make his force bleed but never meet him in the open field or he will destroy you.

Seal,
Cersei Lannister,
Queen Regent of the Seven Kingdoms

Storm's End, 298 AL, Month 2, Day 11

The hour was late and the night was dark as Renly sat at the table in his personal quarters, Loras was asleep in bed, making small noises here and there. Large candles lit up the table around Renly, illuminating the paper on which he was scribbling a letter. His eyes were straining and his mind was sluggish from the wine he consumed earlier in the evening with Loras. He stopped writing and put down his quill.

"Perhaps I should wait till the morn to write this" thought Renly to himself.

He shook his head, brushing away the thought, picked up the quill and began to write once more.

To: Prince Doran Martell, Lord of Sunspear and Prince of Dorne
From: Lord Renly Baratheon, Lord of Storm's End, Lord of the Stormlands
Concerning: The Sun shines brightly on the Stag

Dearest Doran,

I hope this letter finds you in good health and high spirits. I know the Stormlands and Dorne have never been friendly, so to speak, but I do not believe that we can continue to be at odds with such a war on the horizon. Dorne is home to mighty families, proud people and strong leadership. If only the rest of Westeros could follow your lead and see that war is not the answer. Dorne may be unconquerable, but that does not mean your keeps, holdfasts and Sunspear are invincible. They can be destroyed just like any other.

As we speak, the Lannisters and Baratheons of King's Landing march to war against the Starks. This conflict could soon spread and engulf all the lands of Westeros in a fiery conflict that would bleed our lands dry and kill many a man. We must not let this happen to us.

I may have voiced my support for Jon Arryn, but I have not pledged my banners to this senseless war, nor will I. But should this conflict threaten to spill over into the Dorne or the Stormlands, I pray to the Seven that we would be able to put our differences aside and ensure the safety and survival of our two Houses, our Bannermen and our people.

Seal,
Best Regards,
Renly Baratheon
Lord of Storm's End
Lord of the Stormlands
Brother to the Late King Robert, First of his name, King of the Andals, the Rhoynar and the First Men

King's Landing, 298 AL, Month 2, Day 13

Cersei Lannister gave a scroll to Maester Pycelle. Both were standing alone in the deserted throne room. A spot of blood on the floor from earlier in the day when Joffrey had a commoner's tongue cut out before the court. The man had been preaching of the alleged incest carried out by Cersei and Jamie. In most other respects it was a routine day.

"Send this on a raven to Dorne at once." She commanded.

To: Prince Doran Martell, Lord of Sunspear and Lord of Dorne
From: Queen Regent Cersei Lannister
Concerning: Betrothal

The great and independent people of Dorne have always held an important place in Westeros. We at King's Landing are well aware of the prestige of your House and would be most interested in establishing a marriage contract. Should you be interested, we would send Princess Myrcella down to Sunspear to be betrothed to your youngest son, Trystane Martell.

In addition to strengthening the bond between out families, this interests me as a mother. As I am sure your aware, war could be on the horizon. Dorne is strong and secure and far away from the mad Starks who wish to butcher my children. I believe Myrcella would be safer there.

Sunspear, 298 AL, Month 2, Day 15

Within the Tower of the Sun Prince Doran Martell sat in council with his household and advisers. The news was shocking, though not a surprise: King Robert Baratheon was dead. Though many had expected death by drink, poison had apparently been the instrument. However the news of Lord Jon Arryn perpetrating the act had not been seriously received. The Arryns and their honor was well known.
A larger game seemed to be starting.

Prince Oberyn Martell sat to Doran's left, and Arianne Martell to his right. Filling out the other chairs in council were Ser Manfrey Martell, Maesters Caleotte and Myles, Ricasso the seneschal, and Lady Alyse Ladybright who was the lord treasurer. Areo Hotah stood guard behind the Prince of Dorne.
The discussion had been carrying on for some time. As expected Joffrey Baratheon had sent a decree clumsily demanding loyalty and calling for war. It had not been replied to. Dorne was distant, and word took time to reach and return. And the Dornish had a way of doing things their own way.

Doran was in pain, but he attempted to ignore it. More than the gout that ached at his legs, his heart bled for the sister he had lost in King's Landing. But war was not the answer, especially war with the Vale over a eunuch's whispers or Littlefinger's quips.

Prince Oberyn wanted to mounted all the Lannister's heads on spikes. Ser Manfrey had suggested proclaiming Stannis or Renly king, though not seriously. The maesters counciled caution but prudence. Lady Alyse presented numbers and costs to calling the banners. Arianne urged action, though Prince Doran knew her heart was too young to truly know what she wanted.

Their debate carried on, and Prince Doran Martell was quiet and listened, preferring to ask each what they thought. When it was done he nodded his head once and said, "Haste brings destruction. I will respond as is appropriate. My brother, muster the banners. No matter what else Dorne must be safe."

To: Lord Renly Baratheon
From: Prince Doran Martell
Concerning: Matters of the Realm

Lord Renly,

Your letter was, as you always are, kind. Though your words troubling. A different man might mistake certain phrases as threats, though I see only the reality. Lord Eddard Stark's bid for a throne rather than support Lord Stannis' or even your own particular claim to the Iron Throne is significant news of itself.

Lord Jon Arryn is perhaps the most honorable man in the realm. It was he personally who brokered the peace between Dorne and your beloved brother Robert. I do not believe for an instant he would resort to poison. And yet I cannot raise my banners in revolt against the Iron Throne.

It is right that you have looked to the well-being of your smallfolk and bannerman rather than leap to war. As an uncle and councilor to King Joffrey, I hope that you may be capable of persuading him to delve deeper into the matter. That said, I can stand by your intentions to maintain peace in the realm.

Seal,
Doran Martell
Lord of Sunspear
Prince of Dorne

To: Queen Regent Cersei Lannister
From: Prince Doran Martell
Concerning: Betrothal

It is humbling that your thoughts turn to Dorne in your hour of grief, Your Grace. Dorne mourns with you your loss of beloved King Robert. May the Seven keep him and bless King Joffrey's rule.

Your offer of betrothal is an honor, though much blood and grief remains between our two houses. Though we raised our banners for different kings in the last war, your father Lord Tywin has ever been a man of honor, to be sure. But certain men present a blotch on the honor of the banner he bears.

I could not in good conscience agree to this while you still believe such bad blood or rumors of dishonor exist between our houses. It is no secret the men Ser Gregor Clegane and Ser Amory Lorch were responsible for the death my lady sister, an action beyond the pale of civilized conflict. I would consider the presentation of those two men, stripped of their knightshood and shackled as prisoners in Sunspear, a sad but neccesary prerequisite.

In addition, to better serve the realm and maintain contact with His Grace King Joffrey, I would ask that a seat on the small council be granted to Dorne immediately. In that fashion communication and relations would improve vastly.
Again I must express my condolences for your lost, Your Grace. These are truly dark times.

Seal,
Doran Martell
Lord of Sunspear
Prince of Dorne

Runestone, 298 AL, Month 2, Day 17

Lord Yohn Royce of Runestone silently paced his solar, not willing to be disturbed by his household. He read the note delivered by raven from the Eyrie countless times, contemplating its meaning. His forces were to be ready to assemble at any moment if Jon Arryn wished it. But the meaning of this still puzzled Lord Royce. A bitter feud had erupted between House Arryn and the newly proclaimed King Joffrey, as Lord Royce's liege lord, Jon Arryn, was accused of murdering his father. Other ravens had come and left from the Eyrie as well, one from Winterfell, telling Lord Arryn to amass his forces at the Twins in several days time.

If Lord Arryn decided to move his forces out of the Vale and to the Twins, that meant that he and his house would be one of the first ones leading the charge. The Royces have been the Arryn's most powerful bannermen for centuries, and have stood by their side, ever obedient. If this was the plan, then Lord Royce was confident he and his sons would lead their forces to victory.

King's Landing, 298 AL, Month 2, Day 19

It was the 7th small council meeting in as many days. Cersei brooded over the most recent letter from the Martells, her face heavy with exhaustion and beading with sweat. Littlefinger looked as if he was about to sleep. Varys could be seen shifting uncomfortably in his chair. The chairs in the meeting room were only marginally more comfortable than the infamous Iron Throne. No doubt everybody's ass was raw and chaffing.

"Where is Clegane anyway?!" Cersei looked up from the parchment at her advisers.

"In the Riverlands, your grace." Varys pointed at a small map of Westeros hanging by the window. "He's likely reached Saltpans now and is waiting for further instruction."

"And Lorch?"

"In Kings Landing, I believe." Littlefinger wiped a bead of sweat off his brow. "Should I summon him?"

Cersei looked uncertain. She knew that both Gregor and Amory were loyal servants to the Lannisters for many years. Yet the whole of Dorne would surely be more important. And what of Myrcella? The sweet girl would never be as safe in King's Landing as in Sunspear. A world away from all the world's woes. "Summon Ser Gregor back first." She said, finally. "Once he is back I would see the both of them together."

To: Ser Gregor Clegane
From: Your Queen

Please return to King's Landing at once. We have important things to discuss. Leave our army in the Riverlands to Lord Gyles Rosby, who will ride out from Rosby now and reach Saltpans in a few days.

Seal,
Cersei Lannister
Queen Regent of the Seven Kingdoms

High Garden - , 298 AL, Month 2, Day 19
OOC: This post is waterdowned since Ive already lost two trying to post before so my apologies!

Mace Tyrell had gathered a considerable amount of force at the High Gardens. He had finished consolidating his forces and prepared his host to a march towards the King's road where he would evenutally link up with the Lannister Host and prepare the invasion of the North. Mace had ordered a massive supply wagon to be hastily created as he marched 35,000 of his men towards the Grassy Vale to make camp before proceeding north on the King's road. As he left the High-garden he wrote two final raven dispatches before he left his castle.

To: Queen Regent Cersei Lannister
From: Mace Tyrell, Lord of Highgarden, Warden of the South
Concerning: Aid

My queen regent,
I will gladly accept your proposal of joining our houses through marriage. I still send my daughter to King's Landing with a small host of my banner-men led by William Wythers her personal knight and chief protector. We will hold the wedding once we finish this festivies in the North. After Joffery's foes are vanquished we will celebrate our victory against our enemies and a victory of a future of our houses growing strong together. I will march with your father to the Riverrun. Expect my daughter to be seafaring within the next couple of days.

Seal,
Mace Tyrell,
Lord of the House Tyrell,

To: Tywin Lannister, Warden of the West
From: Mace Tyrell, Lord of Highgarden, Warden of the South
Concerning: Alliace

Tywin,

Ive had ordered my bannermen across the reach and we are marching towards the King's road. Expect my company within afew weeks. We will dine in Riverrun before we lay waste to the Northern traitors. Ive prepared my host for a siege or two and in prepartion I've brought more then enough miners and supply wagons to keep us well nourished for this long haul.

Seal,
Mace Tyrell,
Lord of the House Tyrell,

Mace knew evenutally the Vale would be under siege and he only knew that it would take certainly a fairly long time if they were to succeed. A well trainned army is only as strong as its supplies and he knew to keep his men's bellies full and wine in their cups would ensure their continued support and bravery in face of a time consuming siege.

He ordered his daughter and 100 of his men at arms along with 5 Knights and 20 squires to accompany Sir William Wythers onboard one of his vessels to accompany his daughter to King's Landing and provide protection for her.

Storm's End, 298 AL, Month 2, Day 15 (back-logged a wee bit)

"My Lord! Mace Tyrell has issued orders that he intends to march North with much of Highgarden's strength. What shall we do?" said Maester Steffon, the very letter still clutched in his hand.

"We will gather our strength at Summerhall and ride to the Riverlands. I do believe it is time the Stormlands become proactive in what happens to this land. We will aid our Tully brothers in their fight against their enemies. Send ravens to Bronzgate, Blackhaven, Mistwood and Evenfall Hall. I want their full strength ready to march within four moon-turns. Send a special letter to Lord Beric Dondarrion, he will be commanding this force. Is that clear?" barked Renly. The prospect of fighting had his blood pumping, which showed in his voice.

The ravens were sent, their wings flapping in unison as they took off. The sheer number of the large, black ravens filled the courtyard below the rookery with the thump, thump, thumping of their wings. On those feathered, black wings flew the words of War.

Ruins of Summerhall, 298 AL, Month 2, Day 19

The Stormlords and their hosts had all arrived well before their intended deadline, and they had been idly sitting in their camp around the small ruined castle of Summerhall for two days now. Lord Beric was growing restless, as was Aemon Estermont, First son of Eldon Estermont who sent him in his stead. The bannermen were never good at sitting still for too long, especially with the prospect of combat so close within reach. In all, the Stormlords had amassed a host numbering just over 13,200 men, plus the regular camp followers.

"My Lord, We need to give our men something to do or else they will start deserting and returning home" said Aemon as he paced in front of Lord Beric who was seated at his table in his personal tent.

"I know, I know. Aemon. You are not telling anything I've not thought of already. Just send out groups of five soldiers to scout around the countryside. It is entirely useless, but they will feel like they're doing something, and perhaps they may even find something interesting to report. I'd be the damned son of the Stranger if they ran into some of those Tyrells we keep hearing rumors about" replied Beric, chuckling to himself at the last comment.

"Har! There would be a Warm day beyond the wall before that happened!" replied Brienne Tarth, daughter of Selwyn Tarth, and Commander of House Tarth's 2,000 swords that had marched with the men from Mistwood. The fact that she was a woman, and on the battlefield was a rare sight indeed, but she could hardly be called a woman.

"Regardless. Send them out to do something. They need to be preoccupied. I don't want my scrottie cut off by this lot just because they're bored" replied Beric.

"Very well" replied Aemon Estermont.

It took another near hour before the groups, 20 in total, to depart the camp. They went in every which direction, riding horses and running on foot. Their speed betrayed their eagerness to get out of camp and do something useful.

King's Landing, 298 AL, Month 2, Day 19

Brynden rode upon his black stallion, its flanks slick with sweat as he galloped towards the red keep. He had arrived at Duskendale, his ship forced to make call due to storms and the threat of a Kraken in Blackwater Bay. behind him, one hundred of his swordsmen rode close, keeping the public at bay as the new Hand of the King rode through the gates and into the courtyard of the Red Keep. Brynden dismounted, and shouted at a stableboy. "You! Where can I find Her Grace, Cersei Lannister?" he barked. The youth stuttered and pointed to the Red Keep and managed to spit out "Sm-sm-small C-c-ouncil meeting m'Lord, er-M'Hand." The Blackfish grunted and apt "I am not your hand yet, see to my men's horses and ensure they are fed and watered. Captain! Four of your men with me!" His Captain of the Guards, Ser Willis Wode, shouted and four blue-and red mailed men jogged to their lord, and flanked him on all sides. The men set off, towards the Red Keep, to find the small council and begin the business of running the Kingdom. "And Ser Wode, get me King Joffrey in the Hand's solar by tonight, I would have words with my new King!" he shouted over his shoulder.

Riverrun, 298 AL, Month 2 Day 20

Edmure ran for his horse, and shouted to his men to make haste. The entire army of the Riverlands was moving North for the Starks, to meet them and to stay ahead of the Lannisters who lay encamped less than a day from Riverrun, and he was leaving behind 600 men to defend against the inevitable Lannister siege. Edmure would march North, meeting 1,000 men at Fairmarket, and taking 5,500 from Riverrun as well as meeting 3,000 more from Pinkmaiden and Maidenpool. "We march North to meet the Starks Vymon! Send word to the Lannisters to catch us if they damn well can!" he shouted, riding forth at the head of a column of cavalry, the infantry marhcing and falling in behind their Lord. Vymon quickly went to his Ravens, and began the process of conducting a letter to the Lord of Casterly Rock which he would send by peasant riders to ensure it got through the lines.

To: Tywin Lannister
From: Edmure Tully
Concerning: Your attack of the Riverlands

Lannister,

Your forces should make immediate withdrawal. I march to join the Stark host, and should you follow me there will be grave consequences. I will say to you, catch me if you can, but try if you dare!

Ruins of Summerhall, 298 AL, Month 2, Day 20, Daybreak

A small band of scouts consisting of four riders were running along the King's road however a slight rain gave them the luxury of taking a detour and thats where they discovered that at Summerhall. Thousands of banners were being amassed, the Baratheons were being marshaled by Renly but they weren't sure however they were in very close proximity of the Tyrell host near the High gardens. However one of the horses had slipped and the massive animal broke its back while galloping on the wet soil. It was a truly rare sight however the cries of the horse were so loud and echoed so loudly, they would surely be discovered. The riders dispatched the horse but in their glimpse as a forward party of what appeared to be men wearing the colours of Black Haven. The riders decided the best thing to do was to warn their lordships. The men galloped away and raced towards the Tyrell camp that was marching past Grassy Knoll.

Sir Cures of Redwyne rushed into Mace's Chambers several hours after the incident.
" Sir! We have intercepted a host of Renly's men near Summerhall. That is less then four hours ride..Renly is amassing swords against us! "

Mace had a look of pleasure in his eyes and lips as he gripped the end of his sword. " Marshall all men! We must wheel our forces to the east and march on Summerhall. We will strike Renly's men before they can catch us on our rear! Do the scouts have a number of their men? "

Redwyne shook his head. " They couldn't do a count, they were just scouting the road ahead but of their estimates, at least 9000 men. " Mace grinned and chuckled. " Hes called up the borderlands. If we strike this army, perhaps a quarter of Renly's force will be dismantled and we can take storm's end before marching to Riverrun. " He ordered his men to force march towards Summerhall as Mace couldn't believe his luck. To catch Renly off guard and smash his force, capture Storm's end, take riverrun with the Lannisters and vanquish the Arryn and Winterfell traitors would be a resounding success and securely place his names in the history books as a great warlord.

The Tyrell force consisted just over 35,000 men with the bulk of the force consisting of 20,000 peasants pressed into service with 5000 men at arms which broke down into 5000 pikemen and 1000 swordsmen with 3000 archers and 4000 Calvary and about 1000 nobles and young lords as Heavy Calvary. Mace wore his gold adorned battle armor and personally wanted to led his army from the front. He sent word to courier to High Garden to prepare a levy if need be. If he were going to take Storm's end, he would an additional ten or fiftenthousand of fresh troops to motivate his host to go North. He knew that fighting in the Storms land would be tiring work but the Gods had gifted him a chance for a quick victory.

Eddard looked up the Twin's loomed over him the only path across this river for miles, if he didn't pass here then the war would be lost if he could pass here he could ride on with his host all the way down to Fairmarket then meet with Edmure before riding on the Lannisters. " Archers shoot down any raven that flies " Eddard cried and then the command was passed through the ranks. " Robb and Greatjon you are to come with me as well as 100 of my guard " Eddard commanded and they set off riding towards the Twins ready to decide the course of the war.

Summerhall, 298 AL, Month 2, Day 20, Early Morning

"My Lord Dondarrion! My Lord Dondarrion!" shouted one of the scouts as he rode through camp towards Beric's pavilion.

Beric Dondarrion walked out of his tent, shaving soap still slathered on his face.

"What is it, soldier? Why are you so panicked?" replied Lord Beric

"The Tyrells, they are coming! They are less than a day's ride from here, they come in vast numbers! There are thousands of them!" said the scout.

"What? Are you speaking truthfully? If you are jesting with me, may the Stranger take you!" asked Lord Beric.

"I swear by the Seven and the love I have for my mother. They are here. By the Seven, I swear!" replied the scout.

"Very well, Soldier. Your work here is done. Retire and take an extra day worth of rations for your work" said Lord Beric.

After the scout left, Lord Beric sent word to the other Stormlords residing within the camp. They all answered his call and met within his tent. They were hunched over a map of the Reach, Stormlands and the Riverlands.

"They are here" said Beric Dondarrion as he pointed to a point just beyond Baratheon lands.

"And we are here" replied Lady Brienne Tarth, pointing to Summerhall.

"They are less than a day's ride from our camp. We did not ask for this, but if what the scout tells us is true, then the Tyrells mean to make war against the Stormlands. I say we ride out and show them why they call us the Stormlords" said Lord Beric.

"Aye!" replied the gathered Lords and lady.

"But first, send word by rider and raven to Lord Renly in Storm's End. He must know that the Tyrells mean to do the Stormlands harm, and he may need to rally more forces for the defense of his House and his kind" said Lord Dondarrion.

The rider and raven took off, each carrying their own respective form of letter informing Lord Renly of the impending battle, and war with House Tyrell.

It took no more than two hours for the word to spread throughout the camp that they were marching off to battle. Many of the men were in high spirits as the massive column of thousands of men bearing the sigil of House Baratheon, or their respect Houses, marched down what could only be described as a country road, towards the Tyrell host. The iron and steel weapons of the soldiers, many of whom carried the standard spear, shield and sword, glinted in the morning sun, making it appear as if a comet was streaking across the land towards the Realm of Flower Lords. The full strength of the Dornish March Lords, the Rainwood and the Sapphire Isle marched off to war.

"By the Seven I hope it will be enough" whispered Lord Dondarrion as he road at the head of the column with the other Lords, each on top of equally stunning Charcoal-black, or Innocence-white steeds.

Hear Me Roar

Riverrun, 298 AL, Month 2, Day 21

Tywin read the letter that was sent in secret to him from Riverrun. A change of strategy is now required, he immediately took out parchment and started writing an urgent message to House Tyrell, "Ensure this reaches Lord Mace Tyrell immediately."

To: Mace Tyrell, Lord Of Highgarden
From: Tywin Lannister, Lord Of Casterly Rock
Concerning: Urgent Orders

A change in strategy is required, we are to completely bypass Riverrun and march for the Twins immediately. Force march your soldiers if need be but we must reach the Twins at once. Do not make contact with the Tully forces as well. Once at the Twins, seek me out at the Lannister host.

Tywin Lannister
Lord Paramount Of The West
Lord Of The Westerlands
Lord of Casterly Rock
Shield of Lannisport
Warden of the West

To: Casterly Rock
From: Tywin Lannister, Lord Of Casterly Rock
Concerning: Mustering

Continue mustering and training more troops, we will have great need for them as this war drags on

Tywin Lannister
Lord Paramount Of The West
Lord Of The Westerlands
Lord of Casterly Rock
Shield of Lannisport
Warden of the West

He passed the parchment to a young officer who bowed and ran off to find a raven. Tywin took up his helm and ordered, "Break camp, we are to march for the Twins at once, keep a distance away from the Tully Forces at all time, do not engage them at all." His commanders nodded and left, shouts of "break camp" could be heard across the Lannister encampment.

King's Landing, 298 AL, Month 2, Day 21

Tyrion and his cousin Martyn slowly rode on their horses on the Kingsroad, Tyrion whistling away happily, he did not seem concern at the sight of bannermen marching off in every direction, nor was he bothered by the skies that darken earlier each day. Winter is coming true but that does not concern him for now. After what seemed like ages, the could finally see the red walls of King's Landing and the infamous smell of the city. "Ah, and I thought Cersei's room smelt worst." He shrugged and continued riding towards the city, eventually reaching the great gates of the city. He spotted the golden cloak of the city watch who saw him and saluted him.

Tyrion continued riding through the crowded city, despite the image of a normal bustling city, underneath it one can sense the tension and fear that was brewing. The city was in fear, Renly's forces were too close for comfort while the North is reported to be marching downwards towards King's Landing. He was confident that his father, the "great" Tywin Lannister will make sure the North does not overstep its boundaries. Eventually he reached the Red Keep, the seat of power for the King of the Seven Kingdoms. He dismounted his horse and let Martyn Lannister deal with the logistics of everything else while he walked straight into the Keep. He walked around the Keep for awhile, getting his bearings when he spotted a familiar body shape and smell, it could be one person. He entered the Hall where that person was in and saw his sister Cersei and brother Jaime Lannister talking to each other.

"Ah beloved siblings. I have arrived."

Moat Cailin, 298 AL, Month 2, Day 8

Roose Bolton
Roose quickly grabbed the raven and took the parchment. He read the letter. About time. Roose thought.

"Maester," he said.
"Yes, my lord?"
"Bring parchment and a quill. I have a message to send."

The maester went to his closet and took out a piece of paper, a quill, and a small ink container. Roose wrote:

To: Lord Tywin Lannister
From: Lord Roose Bolton
Subject: Not specified

It seems you do not know me personally, my lord of Lannister. If you would, you would have known that the Boltons have wished to remove the unbearable yoke of the Starks for centuries. I am more than willing to bend the knee to the Iron Throne and house Lannister, provided me, my kin, and the Dreadfort are unhurt... and perhaps something more. I cannot leave Stark's side at the moment, but perhaps we can arrange something?

Signed, Lord Roose Bolton
Lord of the Dreadfort

He rolled the parchment and gave it to the maester. The maester attached it to the raven and set it free.

"Hold on, I've another one to send."

He wrote something about bending the knee to the Iron Throne and turncloaking, and sent it to the Dreadfort, to his son, Ramsay Snow.

Roose left the chambers. His guards followed after him.

"Riqard, if you'd be so kind, please help find the maester his bed," Roose said with a sly smile. "He knows too much. Do it subtly."

Riverrun, 298 AL, Month 2, Day 22

Tywin Lannister read the parchment while his army stopped to take on supplies and water from a nearby village. He re-read the parchment from House Bolton, 'excellent, this may be able to turn the tides.' He thought to himself, he signaled for an officer to bring parchment and a quill and began composing a message to House Bolton.

To: Lord Roose Bolton
From: Lord Tywin Lannister, Warden Of The West
Subject: The Future Of The North

Roose Bolton, I am most heartened and pleased to receive your raven. It is excellent to know that there are Houses in the North that do no agree with the stance that Eddard Stark has taken in relation to the Iron Throne. I can see no reason why House Bolton and the Dreadfort should be harmed if your House is will to bend its knee to serve House Lannister. If you agree to swear fealty to House Lannister, I will ensure that your House will not be harmed, if you refuse, your house will be branded as traitors to the Realm.

Decide Wisely.

Sunspear, 298 AL, Month 2, Day 19

No formal replies had reached Dorne, but ships and freeriders brought the word of movements and mustering hosts. The war was continuing to expand, it seemed. Prince Doran was pained to see it happen. The realm tearing asunder twice in 13 years. Dorne was safe, but he knew the price others might be paying at this moment.

His brother Prince Oberyn had left for Yronwood to muster a host there, and Lord Quentyn Qorgyle had gone to Skyreach to do the same. The castles at Wyl and Kingsgrave reported no foreign incursions, and their own outriders had not been spotted or detained. They had reported troop movements further north, indicating the Reach and Stormlands might be coming to blows soon.
And Doran still had no reply from Lord Renly.

A group of riders had left the Stone Way Pass already and were making north to Summerhall, where Doran's ears said trouble was brewing. Ten knights and fifty men-at-arms, along with some servants, squires, and the like, made speed to find a certain lord.

Prince Doran had not replied to Lord Arryn or King Joffrey's decree yet, but he had no answer yet. But a thought had occupied his troubled mind, and a raven soon was finding its own way north.

To: Eddard Stark, Lord of Winterfell
From: Doran Martell, Lord of Sunspear and Prince of Dorne
Concerning: Peace

Lord Stark,

I write this in the interest of preserving peace in the realm and respect between our two houses. I must beg of you to put aside a crown and hearken to the true heir of the Iron Throne. You were King Robert's greatest friend and loved him, and now his family needs you.

To show my good faith, I propose you wed your daughter Sansa to my eldest male heir, Quentyn. Sansa would be protected in Sunspear no matter the outcome of your bid for kingship, and the deed would perhaps allow cooler heads to prevail.

I ask this as a father, as I too well know the cost wars can have on family.

Seal,
Doran Martell
Lord of Sunspear
Prince of Dorne

As the raven flew, and a new hope for peace flew with it, Prince Doran Martell sat in the Tower of the Sun contemplating. Queen Cersei had still sent no reply.

Summerhall, 298 AL, Month 2, Day 21, Early Morning

The Tyrell host had arrived at Summerhall. It was a delayed march however Tyrell wanted them to be in battle formation as they proceeded to march to Summerhall and spill forth unto the field.

The Tyrell host was over 35,000 and Tyrell broke his army into a half mile long formation. In tr center was 5000 well armed men at arms with 20,000 pikemen to his left and right flanks. He had 1000 archers behind his lines and his Calvary on his right flank which numbered 4000 with an additional 1000 nobles and knights in heavy armoir on the right. His plan was to sweep against the flank of the Baratheons while his army met Renly's head on. Tyrell wanted
To kill as many on the field as possible as he opted the head on approach to smash then allow his heavy Calvary contingent to mop up the routing enemies. Tyrell knew this day would be bloody but war was always a dirty business in his mind.

" order all men to adavnce. Prepare the bolts. I want to smash this army before the day is lost " mace called out to his commanders as they issued
Orders to engage and the Tyrells began the long march. To face off the baratheon force.

King's Landing, 298 AL, Month 2, Day 21

The Small Council was silent for a moment. They had all known Tyrion was on his way but were still shocked to see the little man smiling in the doorway, clearly tired from a long ride from Casterly Rock. Cersei, Jamie, Varys, and even the newly arrived Hand, Brynden Blackfish were all sitting around the table looking at him with eyes of surprise. The Kingslayer stood up grinning and broke the silence.

"Tyrion, I trust your trip went well." Jamie moved closer to his little brother. "We we wondering when you'd arrive. I was beginning to think I'd have to ride out myself and free you from some godless brigands." Jamie smiled and moved to embrace Tyrion.

Cersei looked stiff for a moment at the brotherly love and then turned back to the Hand and Varys. "The Tyrells are about to go to battle with the Stormlords near Summerhall, and my lord father is marching around in the Riverlands to fight the Starks. I'm unsure of what our good friend Edmure intends to do and the thought of him joining the Wolf troubles me greatly."

"It would be wise of you to send your daughter to Dorne." Varys spoke. "I understant Clegane has been summoned?"

"He has."

"Ah yes, we must inform the Martells immediately."

The Twins, Month 2, Day 21

Lord Walder looked at the enormous host marching towards the Twins. Everywhere he saw the direwolf flying, together with the shackled giant, the flayed men, and many others. His own men had hid behind his walls. Catapults and trebuchets were ready to fire, and bowmen started to aim. Three days ago, Lord Bracken had arrived with 3,000 Tully troops and some interesting letters. However, Walder Rivers confirmated the arrival of the Stark Host, and Lord Walder was not so keen on having 3,000 troops from his liege in his own walls. Bracken was sent away, hunting down some defiant peasants and rebels. Walder had the idea the commander was not to pleased with that, but negotiating while being in the line of fire of a small army of catapults and bowmen would prove very convincing. Walder had planned to let the Starks pass anyway, not being able to hold the Twins against such a host. He would not want some Tully men preventing that. But now, he heard Edmure had concluded a pact with Lord Eddard himself.

"I've seen enough, bring me back". His personal guards carried the men back to the Great Hall in the Water Tower. Seated on his High Seat, dressed in the colours of the Freys, Walder ordered one of his riders to come closer. He produced two letters and gave them to the man. "Bring this to lord Bracken at once. I need to correct my error. And sent this to Walder Rivers. I want to keep him near the Twins, with all this hosts rampaging our lands." Then he looked around the Hall and beckoned Stevron to come closer.

"My son, as heir to the Twins it is your task to go and offer your sword to Lord Eddard. Treat him with the highest respect, and let it be known that I support the alliance between the trout and the wolf!"
Stevron nodded gratefully
"Take 50 men-at-arms with you and let the gates be opened and the bridge cleared. If the rumours about the Lannister host following up behind Edmure are true, he might want to cross at once".
Walder snapped his fingers. His son departed, and the rest of his family retreated to their rooms. Only his high-born sons remained, together with 10 guardsmen. Walder ordered his sons to remove their weapons and place them on the dining table. Then he waited.

A horn roared twice. Stevron shivered as he saw how the massive gates of the Twins were unlocked and opened. The portcullis was raised and the draw-bridge lowered. At the other southern tower of the Twin, the same happened. Only there, two hundred pikemen marched out to guard, whilst he was only accompanied by fifty men-at-arms. He took a deep breath and stepped outside the gatehouse. 50 silent shadows followed him, marching under the Frey banners and a peace banner. His heart was filled with fear as he made his way towards the Stark host, whilst he saw Eddard Stark was leading the column with his banner men and a hundred knights. Stevron wished they had horses too, but continued walking. With every step the Twins grew smaller and the Northern host grew. He saw that the doors of the Twins were no completely open and the bridge was cleared.

When he reached Eddard Stark, he drew his sword and bowed. He handed his sword with the hilt to Lord Eddard and spoke:
"Lord Eddard Stark of Winterfell, King in the North. My father sends me here. He wanted he would be able to greet you himself, if he could walk.I am Stevron Frey, heir to the Twins. As you can see. The bridge is cleared and ready to cross. Edmure Tully is on his way with his own troops, but he is chased by a Lannister host. As a true vassal, Lord Walder urges you to help your brother-in-law if you wish. If you want to speak with my father, he is inside, and we are preparing a meal for you and your bannermen if you wish. If you wish to continue, some of our supplies are taken outside to the Southern Tower and we could at least supply a part of your army. Please know, my lord, that we are faithful to the Tullys and we will thus also help the friends of the Tullys."

WIth that Stevron bowed again, and offered his sword.
