Paris, France
Delegate: Samuel Opazo
Representative of First Chilean Republic

Chile's lead diplomat had arrived in Paris with a team of envoys as they prepared to begin talks with the European Federation. The Chilean's lead representative was a very outspoken, cocky however he was very laid back and the Chileans had arrived with the intentions of joining an economical, political and military alliance and they wished to sit down and meet up with the Federation and discuss a possible alliance.

The Chileans came a little early on the 26th but they wanted to meet up earlier to success possible military alliance between the Federation and the Chilean Republic in addition to the economical confereence they had proposed initially.

Somewhere outside of Riga, Latvia
Russian 181st Rifle Division
April 3rd, 1938 -- Late afternoon

A light rain fell across the field, the first of the rainy season. The steady pattering of rain on pans, vehicles and other metal objects was interrupted periodically by the thunder of artillery in the distance. Hastily dug and shallow trenches connected the scattered foxholes and craters that marked the earth, showing evidence of the recent battles fought here. Although built as a medical camp to evacuate the wounded, there were little wounded to treat: the cries of the injured was replaced by the austere silence of the dead.

From the Estonian border to the outskirts of Riga, every inch of soil was bought with blood. The Latvian Army, along with the remnants of Estonia's national defenses that fled the country prior to the capture of Tallinn, bloodied the nose of every White Army division that set foot in the country. Bridges were detonated, roads strewn with mines, and at night; every tree and shadow seemed to hold a thousand gleaming bayonets. Despite these dangers, the White 6th Army pushed onward with its mission to capture Riga and integrate the Latvian Republic with Russia.

Above: Latvian soldiers taking up defensive positions around Riga.

The 181st Rifle Division had been integral in the thrust towards Riga, breaking through the Estonian lines on the Ogre river and outflanking the Latvian 1st Rifle Corps, driving them back into Riga. The White Command ordered an immediate and ill-advised assault on the city, resulting in the 181st Rifle Division being shattered and thrown out of the city. With their forces recuperated, another assault was ordered-- the result of which, proved frustrating.

Colonel Boris Stanislav stood hunched over a collection of maps in one of the few tents provided for the campaign (the Commissars told them it would provide the motivation necessary to capture the city, and thus, warm beds), as a soldier burst into the tent. "Sir," he said, saluting. "The 487th Tank Battalion is retreating back to our position--they have casualties."
Stanislav swore under his breath. "How many?"
"Twenty dead, three dozen or so more wounded." The Colonel lowered his head. Twenty dead riflemen could be tolerated, but twenty dead from a Tank Battalion meant dead tanks. Dead tanks means a short military career. He took a breath. "How many vehicular losses?"
"Seven T-26 tanks were knocked out or destroyed. Two more were abandoned." This time the Colonel swore openly, knocking several maps from the table in frustration. "Son of a bitch," he muttered. "Where the fuck are my BT-7's from requisition? We're trying to take a city, not a fucking log cabin!" Stanislav slumped to the table on his elbows. His patience was running thin; the operation was already several days behind schedule, and the Sixth Army was not known for its lenient view on failure.

Boris raised his head, and stared ahead. "It seems we are in a bit of a bind," he began, reaching into his pocket and withdrawing a cigarette. "We either pull our forces back and end the assault, and be shot for cowardice," he said, lighting the thin paper tip, "or press on and be shot for failure for acting appropriately in the line of duty." A thin cloud of smoke dribbled from his lips before the Colonel blew the smoke across the table. He paused for a moment, toying with the cigarette. "Let it be known that Boris Stanislav is not a coward--order the 487th back into battle as soon as they arrive with the wounded. Press on with the attack."

Ottawa, Canada
Royal Palace, April 4th, 1938

OOC: I use asterisks to mark when i am writing IC, how ive always done it.

*King John Longfellows III sat at his desk in the royal chambers, looking over various reports from around the world and from within the kingdom itself. His ministers stood around him, offering advice and answering any questions he might have.

"So, Russian forces are fighting their way into Estonia, and Germany has decided to invade Prussia, how very interesting. Charles, how ready is our military?" Longfellows asked, shuffling the papers on his desk.

Minister of Defense Charles Lawson shifted his feet nervously, he had been waiting for this question and had been dreading delivering the news.

"3 Divisions are ready, your majesty. Two Rifle and one mechanized. Only a third of our air force is ready for war, with only 200 fighters and 15 bombers available. However, the Atlantic Fleet is almost ready for combat. All 4 heavy cruisers are operational and just finished modernization along with the 6 destroyers. The flagship, the RCNS (Royal Canadian Naval Ship) Ottawa will be ready tomorrow your majesty." Charles replied swiftly, sweat dripping down his chin.

If Longfellows was agitated by this, he did not show it. His face giving nothing away, nor his eyes.

"It is the best we could do, and I understand. I will pass the information along to Great Britain and the other allies. Thank you, that will be all for now." Longfellows said in return.

The Ministers nodded and bowed and left the room, the great doors slamming with a loud boom. Longfellows sighed, such few men were ready for war, yet war was already upon the world. But at least if Bingham asked him for support, he could lend some, albeit not a whole lot he could do with 3 divisions and the meager Atlantic fleet....*

OOC: how does that sound? As i am confused to what is really going on i hope that my information is correct. lol

Beirut, Lebanon

The hot desert winds swept across the city of Beirut, the climate was bearable but irritating to any who weren't used to it. Inside a small coffee shop, the leading members of the Lebanese Command Brigade who were dressed in beige trenchcoats and formal looking hats. They quietly whispered above the haze of Shisha smoke, and talking compatriots. The leading members were two Colonels and one General, who each carried a luger pistol within their coats. They were discussing the training of their rebels about 16 miles from Beirut, who would plan the overthrow of the government.

Ottawa, Canada
The Royal Palace April 4th, 1938

*King John Longfellows re-reads the reports from around the world for the final time before checking over the telegram to Prime Minister Bingham.*

TO: Prime Minister Bingham
FROM: King John Longfellows III of Canada
ENCRYPTION: Extremely High

Greetings,

Prime Minister Bingham, I am sure you have gotten word of the reports coming from Prussia and Estonia. Germany and Russia are on the move. And I fear that it may be time for more broader military readiness. The Royal Canadian Military is slowly but steadily modernizing, and is readying for war. Most of the Atlantic Fleet is ready, however I have only three divisions of men ready at this time. I'm hoping to have more ready soon.

As such, when both the Atlantic fleet and an expeditionary force of a sufficient size are ready, I ask that they be stationed in England and the Atlantic fleet start patrolling the Atlantic ocean because I fear that soon we will have to insure the protection of our merchant fleets. Just give the word, and when they are ready they will depart for England.

Also, would it be wise for us to meet possibly? To discuss the possibility of war? I could be in England in a few days time.

Bingham, I do fear however that this war will be a tough and very costly one. I fear that this war will ravage the world, and that is why we must be ready for conflict at any point in time.

Best Regards,

King John Longfellows III of Canada

*Longfellows sighed at the thought of another world war. Like he wrote to Bingham, he knew it was going to cost the world dearly... He neatly stacked the reports into a pile and picked up the telegram and walked out of his chambers, heading towards the telegraph office...*

The Forbidden city, Beijing

General Fu Su Zhang stood at attention. He might have been a high ranking General but no one stood above the Emperor and the mandate of heaven. The Emperor soon entered the room flanked by two Imperial guards. Well trained and equipped soldiers who where there to look good and in times of need protect the Emperor.

" No need to stand at attention anymore General. We have business to discuss on the armed forces don't we? " The Emperor calmly said. He looked a little tired. Most likely from the journey from Madrid.

" Yes my imperial majesty. We have gotten reports from Japan that the cowardly Japanese are mobilizing their forces and that the Columbian prime minister has traveled to Japan, most likely as a response to us joining the Axis. While Japan cannot hope to defeat us alone they can become an annoyance if we aren't prepared. It is therefor that i advice that we mobilize the Imperial army just in case. "

The Emperor went quiet as to think this through. It brought a lot pressure ruling such a large empire after all. He finally sighed and said. " Very well mobilize the Imperial Army and start a recruitment campaign. I believe the Imperial armed forces will need more men in case war does arrive to the world. I want China to be ready. "

Fu Su looked at the emperor and bowed. " Yes my majesty. It will be done. "

Kingdom of Columbia
March 20th, 1938

After Sanderson finished talking with the Japanese prime minister, he went out and got in his car, then went to the airport and went on the flight back to New Winchester. Back at the capital, a Field Marshal was commanding a program dedicated to finding a new medium tank to replace the old Alex-Rosen M32 Light Tank, which was mediocre, a 37mm gun, a 5mm machine gun, and other horrible aspects of the tank. The 10 SOMUA S35 tanks that the government bought would be the basis of the new tank, the excellent 47mm SA35 gun used by the S35 would be the standard armament of it, with a 7.62×54mmR coaxial machine gun, the M1936 Heavy Machine Gun on the tank as well.

Those would be the main armaments of the tank. The armor would be 47mm, same as the Somua, a perfect balance between speed and protection. The rest of the design was up to the companies who would design the potential tanks, the companies were:

  • Alex-Rosen
  • Umbrella Armored Vehicle Design Services
  • Vickers Tank Company
  • Rogers Armored Company
  • Daimler-Benz
  • Porsche

The Alex-Rosen design was this:
Image

They named it the M6 "Grant" tank. It was a very heavily modified hybrid of their earlier M32 Light Tank and the SOMUA S35, with fast mobility, but at the cost of the loss of some armor, though still relatively sturdy armor, a 47mm gun, the 7.62 coaxial, and due to its simplicity, it could be converted into a lot more models, such as mobile artillery and a flamethrower tank.

Testing is expected to last for one month.

OOC: In one month, the Grant will be chosen and put into service, though it won't be produced in large numbers until later

Somewhere along the USCA/Columbia border

Jacob Douglass was a very happy man. Not only was the bombing in San Antonio successful, but the Sons and Daughters of Liberty had acquired allies, training and bases of operation in the Caribbean. Douglass was thankful that the Columbians and the Spanish were willing to aid the NSDL. In fact, around 2,500 NSDL personnel were on their way to Puerto Rico and 950 NSDL personnel were heading to St. Croix via civilian cargo ships in order to set up the de jure government on those islands Many more would arrive later in time. It wouldn’t take long for the troops to arrive and turn the islands into impenetrable stronghold so that the NSDL could train troops and resupply them. While Douglass himself wouldn’t go the islands, he was sending Commanders John Maxwell and Liam Frey to Puerto Rico and St. Croix respectively. Douglass was able to get an encrypted message sent to Spain and Columbia, thanking them for their help.

Encryption High
To Empress Septima Rosabla de Borbón of Spain
I cannot thank you enough for your contributions to the NSDL’s cause. Allowing us to set up a de facto government in Puerto Rico and Saint Croix is by far the greatest advancement in our fight against the communists. I am glad that the NSDL has Spain as an ally in the fight against communism. Once again, I thank you for everything you have done for our cause. May Spain prosper in these troubling times.
Sincerely
Jacob Douglass, Leader of the New Sons and Daughters of Liberty and the Voice of Freedom

Encryption High
To King David I of Columbia
I thank you for you honorable contribution in training our men in you forts along the border. This is another stepping stone on the path to a free America. These trained NSDL soldiers will be more trained than any Red soldiers the commies can throw at us. Now, more people will arrive in time for training and supplies, which I hope you will supply them with. I am glad that the NSDL has Columbia as an ally in the fight against communism. Once again, I thank you contribution to our cause. May Columbia prosper in this these troubling times.
Sincerely,
Jacob Douglass, Leader of the New Sons and Daughters of Liberty and the Voice of Freedom

NSDL Underground Railroad Safe house, Sam Houston National Forest, Texas, USCA
An otherwise unremarkable cabin nestled deep in the woods served a remarkable purpose. Not unlike the Underground Railroad of the past that once let escaped slaves find freedom in the North, its modern incarnation allowed Americans to get to freedom in Columbia. This cabin was just one of hundreds of buildings that supported the NSDL in a chain that stretched across the country. Tonight, however, there was a much more criminal action being constructed. Five men huddled around a gas lamp that was placed atop a wooden table. Four out of the five clutched a rifle in their arms while the fifth focused intently on a large device in front of him.

“Careful, don’t screw this up Bruce,” one armed man said.

Bruce, who was the man working on the device, didn’t respond to the comment. He grabbed a pair of pliers and delicately worked on some wires.

“How large will the explosion be?” another armed man asked, glancing over at three crates marked TNT.
“Large enough to collapse a three-story building,” Bruce replied, never taking his eyes off his project.
“Hey, where the hell did you even get this stuff? The Reds would kill anyone who wasn’t authorized to have it,” the first armed man stated.
“Old mining supplies from before the Great War,” Bruce responded.

No one asked any more questions from that point on.

The Chilean auto company Santiago Motors or known as S/M had unrevealed a new self propelled gun which would be available soon for the Chilean armed forces.

The artillery piece was 20 tonnes making it super light and easy to manuever with 32 mm plating which was very reasonable for a non-direct combat unit and it was completely enclosed. It was armed with a 25 pounder ( 88mm ) Artillery gun and it supported direct and indirect fire with two light machine guns being optionable for secondary, most anti-infantry defenses. It ran on the S/M Conteninel 9 cylinder engine with over 400 horsepower and 500p/w of Torque and it ran at a speed of over 40 Km/H with an operational range of 300 Km making it very effective as artillery but as a stand up fighting tank, it would be infernior. This was truly an indirect supporting weapon and it could be used as an assault gun but its primary role as of indirect support for infantry and other tanks and it was designed to gradually replaced the towed artillery of Chile

*King John Longfellows III was sipping tea and overlooking reports of the military recruitment in the provinces when there was a knock at the door.

"Your Majesty, if I may come in." Lawson, the Minister of Defense, said in a courteous tone.

"Yes, indeed, come in." John replied curtly.

The doors were opened by a pair of royal guardsmen and Lawson walked in, bowing slightly. In his hand he held a manila folder containing a small stack of papers.

"Your Majesty, I am pleased to inform you that our new tank, the Ram, passed the trials with great success and the first batch has just arrived today, 20 of them in total. They are to be apart of the 1st Royal Dragoons, the very first Cruiser tank division of Canada, your Majesty." Lawson explained in a proud tone, his eyes beaming with pride and success.

"That is wonderful news indeed! I know that the Dragoon regiments are key to our strategies we have discussed, and I know that the Ram will be a great success on the battlefield. Thank you for bringing this news to me, and now I must get back to these dreadful reports. That will be all." John said, the faintest traces of a smile coming to his face, something he could not prevent from happening.

"Of course, your Majesty." Lawson replied and then bowed, leaving the room afterwards.

John went back to going through the reports from around the country, his mind trailing off to the new Ram tank and how he had helped develop it...*

The Ram Tank

The Ram Tank is an ambitious design and was developed according to the standards that King John and his minister of defense requested. And that would be speed and yet still be able to battle against other tanks. It has a top speed of 25 MPH and an average size main gun which is the QF-2 Pounder (40MM). The Ram is also armed with three .30 caliber machine guns, which makes a solid fighting machine. It has decent armor, although like most tanks is weak in the rear and side. The Ram has a crew size of 5.

The Ram was developed due to the fact that the Royal Canadian military still relied on either the Renault or the Matilda. The problem with the Renault is obviously its age, and the problem with the Matilda is that it is too slow for the strategies that military command had come up with. As such the Ram was born and are to be apart of the Royal Dragoons, whole regiments of Rams for use in combat and the strategies that the King has in mind.

Sexton SPG

The Sexton is in development still, in its prototype stages, a SPG based on the Ram tank. It will house a QF-25 (88) MM Howitzer. It is intended to be able to keep up with advancing armor groups and provide indirect fire. It has the same specs as the Ram Tank as well, however it only caries two .30 cal machine guns instead of three.

OOC: I understand that the Ram came out in 1941 as such only 20 have been built and this is just the MK I variant. So i hope that is ok.

Testing for the new M6 (NOT THE AMERICAN DESIGN) Grant tank was finished. The Alex-Rosen design was chosen, due to the other designs failing horribly and their armament being extremely lower than expected, and the Grant exceeding initial expectations and performing very well in the tests. The Grant began production after the tests were completed in April 13th, and the current number of them is 50. Due to the low number of the tanks, the government couldn't give them to fellow Proteger Cordiale members but they could give production rights.

OOC: Sorry for short post, this was really the only thing I could write about

The Empire of Spain

Madrid, Spain
Royal Palace of Madrid

The Minister of War came up to the Empress, medals clinking and a tall man with a grizzled beard, clad in suit and tie, came in the Empress' quarters behind him. The Minister and mysterious man bowed, and the Minister spoke "Your Majesty, the Columbians have instituted their own tank program, it seems that they will have many of their new "M6 Grants" rolling out of their factories, heading towards Asia. Unfortunately, we do not have a tank program of our own, the older models bought from Germany and Russia are becoming obsolete in face of these new productions. However, Colonel Verdeja here seeks to remedy that!" The Minister bowed and presented the suited man, Verdeja, to the Empress. The Colonel introduced himself, paid his respects, and sat down with the Empress over a cup of coffee, discussing about instituting a far-reaching weapons program based of his weapon designs and chassises, that would effectively rearm the Spanish military. After three hours, Septima approved it.

To the Kingdom of Canada
From King David I

Greetings,

We accept your proposal of production rights to the M6 Grant, and we also propose a unified command structure for both of our nations in North America as well beyond this.

I hope you accept,

King David I

New Winchester, Columbia
April 20th, 1938

The King was in a firing range with the Prime Minister and a few important officials in the Armed Forces to test the effectiveness of the RSEN submachine gun and Falker-Roberts rifle. "All right, men. You will try to shoot those test dummies at the end of that range. Now.... go!" The RSEN's short range caused it to not hit any of the targets it was supposed to, and the Falker-Roberts' unreliability caused it to jam and not fire at all. The King looked in disapproval, as did the Prime Minister and the Generals.

A new weapons program would start to replace the decade-year old guns and provide a new sense of effectiveness to the Royal Columbian Military. The M6 Grant did, and so it was hoped that the new weapons would. The military needed new small-arms weapons, and these were the classes that they needed.

- Submachine Gun

- Rifle

The two companies chosen for the job was one, the company who would make the submachine gun, White Creek Arms Company, and the company who would make the rifle, National Factory of Blackwater, or NF Blackwater.

Estados Unidos de Guatemala y Cundinamarca

The sun arose over the prosperous nation of Guatemala and Cundinamara, the sprawling cities awoke from their sleep and a new day began for the country. The government had abandoned its neutrality and joined Le Proteger Cordiale, an intergovernmental alliance that would surely support Guatemala and Cundinamarca in case of an invasion. A small conflict erupted briefly near the Carribbean territories, between the USCA and Spain, however in a matter of days the conflict ended with an American victory and them gaining a new neighbor, Cuba. Apart from what was already states, not much was known about the conflict, but the odd behavior made by the Spanish surely had the Bolivarin government in the edge of it's seat. War was coming to the America's, and the sensation of a neighbor firing their bullets across the territory of their neighbor had become ever so present. The Bolivarins in the border with Venezuela, feared that the Spanish, might one day roll their tanks on the beloved land of Cundinamara, of course it'd be impossible for them to do such thing as the border with Venezuela had been heavily fortified since the late 1800's, but yet again the Spaniards could not be underestimated.

Medellin, Distrito Federal

What was to be a nice break from his job and have time to go on an outing with his family, President Otero's day was ruined. Earlier that day, he had received news that Brazil had joined the axis, rather than go out, he remained in his office, stressing over the possibility of a two front, war. Guatemala and Cundinamara had always been a militant state, however the adequate preparations for an invasion had not been done and now as the axis surrounded Bolivarian territory, the country had less time to prepare. The day was poor and anymore bad news could have given the president a stroke, luckily, Chile, a distant South American nation, joined the LCP. Chile was to far away to relay on, but yet again, having an ally in South America, boosted the morale of the Bolivarian people. With a deep sigh, the president and his officials sent a communique; Brazil's government would be denounced and declared an oppressive dictatorship.

Official Communique from the United States of Guatemala and Cundinamara

[Insert something about denouncing Brazil. Sorry will do later]
