Vira Rudenko had been serving as secretary for Prime Minister Dubkin for almost seven years at this point. She knew most of the people who regularly spoke with the Prime Minister and people who he loathed to speak with. When she answered the phone, she was quite aware of who was on the other if only by his accent. "Hello Mr. Ambassador, the Prime Minister is currently busy right now with other matters of the state. My I ask what the nature of the call is and how urgent?" She prepared her pen and pad to right down what the German wished to tell her.

The ambassador replied to Ms. Rudenko, "Ma'am, Germany is nearing a state of war, and we need support. We have noticed your concern for your people, and understand that you are very friendly to neighbors, and we need your help. We cannot give you anything but our goodwill, but we may fall if not for your help."

East of the Romanian-Roman Border:
Legate Canius, Legate Mortus and his army of 5,500 legionaires crossed over the Romanian border. They advanced till they got to the outskirts of the city of Craiova. That's where they rested for the night and planned their assault on the believed-to-be heavy guarded city.

Villach, Austria
The first city the new Legate attacked was Villach. Before leading his troops of 10,000 he told them the he had chosen was Legate Torus. Legate Torus was experienced in battle but this would be the first battle he was fully in charge of, and the first campaign. His mission was to take the nation of Austria. If he had failed ceaser he would have to answer directly to him and possibly be executed. But failure was on the back of his mind when he approached the city of Villach. When he arrived most of the city had fallen apart but upon arrival he met a group of people known as the Volks Waffen ein Villach, one of his german translators told him it meant Peoples Army of Villach. The leader of the group told Legate Torus that they were being oppressed by a group of raiders who have ousted them from their homes and killed many of them as they tried to flee. Legate Torus told them that if they join the New Roman Empire and submit to the will of Ceaser, he would destroy the raiders and give them back their homes. The VWV agreed to the Legates conditions and asked to fight a long side. Torus told them he wanted them to follow him into battle. He told one of his centurions to lead 4500 of the troops from the east to attack the raiders, once he draws them out to fight. He told another one of his centurions to lead the other 4500 of the troops from the west and attack once he draws out the raiders.
3 hours later..
The Legate and his army of 1000 legionaires approached the raider stronghold. He told the raiders that if they submit to the will of Ceaser and give the VWV back their home, he will not destroy them. The 3000 raiders laughed at him and told him that they had machine guns and that they only had assault rifles and machetes. Legate torus and some other of his soldiers in the front threw down their M16s as he gave the order to retreat (all rehearsed) as they ran away the raiders began to chase them and try to round up the legionaires, drawing out the majority of the raiders, once they were in position the other two groups of legionaires began to fire at the raiders as others charged them. Legate Torus' group turned around and began to charge at the raiders. Legate Torus drew his machete and charged the raiders leader. he slashed at his neck and ended up decapitating him in one foul swing. he brought up his machete and brought it down on another raider, it landed right in that raiders shoulder and went down a few inchs above his heart, as it entered the raider he discharged his weapon towards the ground, Torus used both hands to withdraw the machete, as he did he felt a pain in his knee, he realized his knee cap was shot out. He continued fighting as he limped. The battle continued for another 30 minuets before the raiders realized they were surrounded and threw in their weapons and raised both their hands. The legionaires grabbed the remaining raiders and asked Legate Torus what to do with them, the legate asked how many were left and they said 400. The Legate said crucify them all! One of the centurions questioned Legate torus and said "this is not the roman way, we give them a chance to submit to Ceaser first!" The Legate said to him "I did give them a chance! and they denied me and denied ceaser, now they will suffer the consequences!" The legionaires began crucifying them to telephone polls along the roads leading in and out of the city, all 400. It only took 3 hours to crucify all the raiders but that's because 4000 of the troops helped out with the crucifixes.
When Legate Torus reported to one of the medics and the medic asked him what was wrong he told the medic "I took a bullet to the knee..."

Rudenko almost dropped her pen, this was very important news, "I will inform the Prime Minister right away, I will call you back soon." She hung up the phone and walked quickly to the room where Dubkin was currently in.

One of Dubkin's guards stopped her. "What it is Vira?" Viktor asked. He was the head of Dobkin's guard and among the closest to Dubkin.

"It is very important Viktor." Vira stressed. The bodyguard hesitated for a few minutes before he went up to the door and softly knocked on it. A few second later another of Dubkin's bodyguards opened it from the inside. They exchanged words before the younger of the two nodded and closed the door. Not a minute it opened again and Prime Minister Dukin opened the door and stepped out.

"Yes Vira, what is it?" he asked. wordlessly she handed him the note for him to read. He looked up in shock before he gestured for Viktor and the other man outside to follow him. The foursome proceeded down the hallway to Dubkin's office. Vira quickly dialed the Ambassador's number as soon as she heard a ring, she handed it to Dubkin.

Dubkin waited for a response before he spoke. "Yes, hello my friend. I received your message. What do you mean you are nearly in a state of war? Who will you be fighting?"

Brisbane Docks, Brisbane, The Holy Land of Absolute Cagery

The docks of Brisbane are crowded, dirty and infested with rats. Brisbane has become one of the poorest cities in The Holy Land of Absolute Cagery, but it's production of steam ships tend to keep Brisbane's economy afloat, today marks the unveiling of the three new ocean steam-ships; The T.J Potters. The three ships will set sail to Hawaii with 600 Cagians per boat. The boats are seen out in the harbor the first time, to the excitement of Cagian children.

After the boats go on a test cruise around the Harbor they return to the docks to load up the colonists. Oranges, radio's and other food's and communication devices are loaded onto the boats before they disembark to Hawaii. Many of the colonists are excited, due to them reading books of pre-war Hawaii. The steam horns sound, and the ships begin to leave the docks and the harbor, crowds are seen waving goodbye to the boats.

Four Weeks Later, Off The Coast Baja California

It's been nearly four weeks, and the boats had lost their way due to a storm. The three boats finally see land, they head for it thinking it to be the coast of South America. They arrive on a sandy beach, but to the shock of the colonists they see a city and people on the shores, finally The Holy Land of Absolute Cagery had discovered a new nation. They soon realize they have reached Cabo San Lucas, a city in the former country of Mexico.

The colonists stay on board as the people on the beach look at the boats in shock. (Because Nicolas Cages face was on a flag.) The captain of the voyage decides to go confront the people on the beach, "Hello good sir! I'd like to know who's in charge of this fine establishment you have here!" asks Captain Gregorson in an upbeat tone. The man seems confused and replies in Spanish, Captain Gregorson ignores him and yells "Anyone here speak English?", he awaits for a reply.

Das Zwei Reichstag
Beneath Berlin
The Brandenburg Empire

Within the Foreign Affairs Office, Reichsminister Hans Frick was drafting a letter to the government of the Federal Republic of Germany, a name he shuddered at, to him the thought of Germany without its Reich was horrifying. This letter demanded the removal of Federal Troops from the border of the Brandenburg Empire in exchange for a shipment of oil, which could be taken from the Army Reserve Supply. If Federal Troops were not removed from the border, defensive military action would be taken on Brandenburg's part.
Frick was an elderly, esteemed gentleman whom adjusted his spectacles as he wrote beautifully upon the paper:

To the Federal German Leadership,
We the citizens of das Brandenburg Reich hereby demand the removal of troops from our border. We have shown no hostile military action towards and therefore such action on your part would be in direct violation of our legitimate claim as a Sovereign state. Furthermore we are prepared to offer twelve tons of oil in exchange for the removal of Federal Troops from our border. We are all children of the great Saxon/Prussian/German Fatherland, politics aside, can we not live together in peace and prosperity. Are your troops truly prepared to kill other Germans? Ones who could be their family and friends? Think on that. If the troops are not removed within forty-eight hours then it will be seen as a possible act of war and per such, we can mobilize defensive forces. If within Seventy-two hours they are not removed then per the same we will be clear to take defensive military action to remove Federal Forces from the border.
Yours Truly,
Hans Frick; Reichsminister of Foreign Affairs

The letter was then sent to Frankfurt. Personally Frick hoped they took the offer as most of the Ground Troops of the Heer were participating in the, in Frick's opinion, ridiculous assault on Poland. Meaning the Luftwaffe would be left to handle the situation if it got to that point. Since a legitimate government had been established in Brandenburg, separate from the rest of Germany, they were legally a Sovereign State. Thus Federal Troops entering the Brandenburg Empire could be considered an act of war.

Proud advocate that Europe stands stronger together than divided. The EU may be flawed in some areas but the idea of a united Europa can only bring good fortune to Europe and the world. For more than two thousand years, Europe was home to conflicts inspired by coveting one another's territory and resources, even making the continent the home to some of the world's most destructive and costly conflicts. But the idea was all wrong in their minds. Their idea was to bring this territory or that under their flag and spread influence on the continent. The idea they should all have been thinking was that the goal should be to bring the continent under one unified flag.

Pavel grined, "We will be willing to exchange some of our exotic fruits such as water melons or melons, and oil." The other ministers stopped what they were doing as they heard the word, 'oil'.
Minister Timoshenko was the first to get up and immediately shouted, "Oil? We're trading our-" Before he could speak further, Minister Golovin, who was sitting next to him covered Timoshenko's mouth.
Pavel nodded to Golovin who nodded back. "Yes, and if that doesn't suit you we also have some surplus medical equipment and sea-borne ships, both civilian and military."

The Antarctica is very hostile to foreigners. But to us, It has become home. We built 12 cities, 3 military bases, and 2 academies on the ice. All perfectly safe for us. But you would never know there there. It is how we have remained hidden from anything left of the old world. Our ships have been scavaging the world for anything we could use. Bringing old equipment and anything of value back to us here. We are suddenly in the need of expanding to aquire more resources that lay beyond us... since we did not have any trading partners. But now with you, we can hope to slow the exspansion we need and more openly trade with you.

General Hayes and Captain Keys watched the ships landing on the beaches. Soldiers were running up the beaches and running into the city. The helo had been secured. AR forces were now expanding out in the city. Argentina was the official opening of an expanding Antarctica.

Rio Grande, Argentina
Rebels hid and some fired back at the advancing AR troops who were in full uniform. Mortar crews had begun firing from the beaches into the cities interior, clearing out more and more rebels. The entire city was under siege. The AR had come in force. Rebels were being tstripped naked and everything they had taken to the beaches by old trucks to go back to the ships on landing craft for now. But AR troops were pressing to the harbor as well, so the 3 ships could dock.

Craiova, Romania:
Legate Canius and Legate Mortus prepared to lead their army of 5,500 legionaires into the city of craiova. It was 3:00am when they made their assault, Legate Canius wanted to get as close to the city as he could before setting off the guards. He lead the attack from the front. He was 100 meters from the 1st checkpoint leading into the city before the guards spotted the something in the distance. They and shined their flash lights on the advancing army and relaized by then it was too late to react, about 8 different soldiers shot their rifles at the two guards. By that time Legate Canius realized those shots woke up part of the city. He gave the order to charge but not to do their war cry. They got part way in the city before encountering the craiovian resistance. They were weilding AK 47s and dressed in civilian clothing. The legionaires open fired on the militia then continued advancing into the city. Half way into the city the resistance began to hold their position as more soldiers were woken. Legate Canius' troops were seeking cover inside one of the malls as they fought advancing craiovians. However after an hour of holding their position in the mall, they could see in the distance legate Mortus' troops flanking the resistance, when the resitance realized that they were being attacked from two sides they surrendered. Legate Canius did to Craiova what he did to previous cities he had conquered. Legate Canius interogated one of the leaders of Craiova and found out that the south part of romania was under the control of one government, they called them selves the South Romania Republic, he also found out that the north of romania is filled with raiders, slavers, cannibalistic societies and factions more uncivilized than the romans. The next day Legate canius continued his advancement to bucharest, the capital of South Romania.

Villach, Austria
After Legate Torus was wounded by a bullet, he had to get surgery and get a metal plate to replace his knee cap. This caused his army to stay behind in Villach an extra 3 days but he spent no time recovering in Villach, he got some legionaires to find an old trailer and use some of his legionaires to get rope and attack i to the hitch of the trailer and pull the trailer manually. He called the trailer his chariot and he placed a matress in it to make the ride more comfortable. He then began his journey to Graz, the biggest city in austria...

Lower Silesian Voivodeship
Wroclaw, perhaps the largest Polish city to survive the war intacted stood before Ushkov. The Leader of the city, Mayor Teofil Dawidowski, had personally come out to greet them. Apparently something had caused a stir in his city. Ushkov had heard the tale before, something was causing the previously neutral Polish successor states to become much more friendly to the Slavic Federation. It was enough to get the Mayor of Wroclaw to request a meeting with the Commander of the Slavic Federation forces in the region, which meant he wanted to speak with Ushkov.

"Mayor Dawidowski, I am Brigadier Gregori Ushkov of the Slavic Federation." Ushkov said as the mayor shook his hand.

"Welcome Brigadier. I am afraid I have grave news to share. Scouts from the northern nations have reported that they are about to invade. They will soon cross the border and attack. We have heard tales of what they do to non-Germans and we do not want a similar fate to befall us. We are fortunate enough to not share a border with aggressor, Brandenburg, and were thus able to call you before they could seriously threaten us."

"I...see..." Ushkov managed, he had not known any of this. He muttered a curse before turning to his aide. The man knew what to do without being told, he would have the radioman message the next radioman on the line. "The Line" was a creation of the Slavic Federation military, radiomen sat on the edge of the portable radio's range to pass it along to the next man and on to a large radio station. "You have my word that the Slavic Federation will protect you."

"Thank you Brigadier, please, let us discuss this more in my office."

West Pomeranian Voivodeship
Brigadier Filip Wronski led his men forward. Brigadier Ushkov had decided to send Wronski with half the Lublin garrison to Koszalin. Of the four Brigadier's, Wronski was one of two with any senior rank in the Slavic Federation Military. Ushkov had decided to keep Wronski in charge, but sent Colonel Yuri Bogdanov to serve as an adviser to him. The other man had taken a hands off approach and allowed Wronski to run the force as he wanted.

Lubusz Voivodeship
Private Boleslav Bundy turned to his friend, Private Adam Tusk. They were walking toward Zielona Góra under Brigadier Musil. The Rostovian - Ushkov had shown up and quickly taken control of the entire force. He had let two of the Brigadiers keep their commands and sent them toward two of the former voivodeships while taking much of his own force to the south.

Tokarev

Tokarev almost bit swore, dammit, why did Dubkin have to leave now of all times? he thought. Well since the Prime Minister was busy, it would fall to him to make this decision. "Very well my friend, oil and medical supplies would always be welcomed. We shall send a diplomatic team to finalize the deal and numbers if we are done here."

Dubkin

Dubkin sighed, it was a big request. "I will see what I can do my friend. I promise to support you, but it will be tough to convince the city-states to go to war without a proper justification. If I cannot find a reason for us to attack them, then I may not be able to get them to join. But, do not worry my friend. I still have the Slavic Federation army forces under my command and I will bring them to support you as much as we can." He put a hand over the receiver and turned to Viktor, "Get me Pushkin, immediately." The bodyguard nodded and walked out the door.

Moscow Metro
Reznov

Reznov followed Oleg into the city. Oleg had volunteered to show him into the city. He was a nice man, Reznov hoped he would not have to kill the man.

"We are here my friend." he pointed to a stand near the entrance of the city. "Fyodor," Oleg said to the man at the station. "This man would like a pass into the city."

"A stray eh?" Fyodor asked. "Name?"

"Artyom Rostov."

"Like the city eh? Your Patronymic?"

"We don't use them in my settlement."

"Odd, oh well, whatever. I'll just put down Ivanovich and be done with it." Fyodor said.

"You could have just asked for his father's name." Oleg commented.

"I could have." the man agreed. "Place of origin."

"Pyatnitskoye Shosse." Reznov said, referencing the place where they had entered the city.

Fyodor whistled."That is out of the way. I didn't think anyone lived there anymore. Purpose of your visit?"

"Looking for some friends of mine." Reznov said. Fyodor nodded and wrote it down on the paper.

Just one more question, what is under the scarf." he pointed to the scarf that Reznov had around his lower face, he had picked it up from a bandit camp along the way. Reznov lowered it a little to show the man whose eyes widened before he looked away. He wrote something on the paper before he handed it to Reznov "one bullet."

Reznov nodded, the currency in the metro was pre-war bullets. Above ground factories still made them, but down here they were a lost art. He handed him one and took the paper, quickly scanning over it. One section was titled distinguishing features, next to is was "heavy scarring". "Thank you."

Oleg put an arm on Reznov's shoulder. "My shift's done, let's go get a drink while we wait for your friends." Before Reznov could protest Oleg began dragging him. "It's really popular with visitors."

Reznov thought of ways to get out of it without raising suspicion. "Thanks, but I wouldn't want to impose on you."

"Nonsense, you kept me company on my way back to the station. Let me buy you a drink at least." Oleg persisted.

Reznov had resigned himself when his savior arrived. A group of guards spotted them. "Oleg!" one called out, "Are you off duty?"

"Yeah, what do you need?" Oleg responded.

"It's Gleb, he has not returned and he was due hours ago. Some of the guards were going to raise a patrol to look for him." the man explained.

"Gleb? Shit. Alright I am coming too." Oleg turned to Reznov "Sorry, but -"

Reznov waved him off, "I understand, you go and look for your friend."

Oleg looked relieved, "thanks, the bar is named Chaika! It is nearby you can't miss it. I will meet you there later!" He yelled as left with the other group.

Reznov waved as Oleg left before turning back to the street. Maybe he would go to the bar. Visitors were a great place to collect information about the rest of the metro.

Frolova

Elena followed Sergeant Orlov and the two scouts, Garin and Ikvin. They had changed out of there uniforms in favor of some worn civilian clothes. They had all elected to take pistols and combat knives, but only the two kept their rifles. The guard, Gleb, had proven to be surprisingly helpful when they had put some pressure on him.

Garin pointed a little further up. "Up there, there should be border guard to take our information."

Orlov sighed, "very well, follow my lead." He moved to the front of the group as they closed on the city.

"Halt," A guard near the stall marked "Border Guard" called out as he saw them. "Proceed over here and have your information taken." The group proceeded to the table without a word, no reason to make a fuss. Garin and Ikvin kept their rifles slung over their shoulders so as to not antagonize the guard.

"Nikolai Rostov. These are my children, my sons Aleksandr and Vladimir, and my daughter Elena."

"Very well, and your patronymic?" The man wrote down their information.

"Andreievich." Orlov replied

"Alright, and you are from where?" Orlov did not reply right away which made the guard suspicious. "Where are you from?" he said with a little more force

"Pyatnitskoye Shosse." Orlov finally said.

Apparently that meant something because the guard went from angry to awkward in seconds. "Oh yes I see, I apologize." he coughed, "reason for your visit?"

"Looking to buy some supplies."

"Very well." The guard wrote a few more things down before he handed them their papers. "It will be six bullets for the passports and rifle permits."

Orlov gave the man an annoyed look before he dug around in his pocket and took out some bullets. Like a grandmother at the market, he carefully counted up the number he needed and put them on the stall. "There you go." He said after all six were on the stall.

"Thank you, you may proceed. Though if you are looking for a drink, I recommend Chaika, it is a popular bar, especially for foreigners."

"We'll keep that in mind." Orlov said as the left.

"So what is the plan now?" Garin asked.

"Ma'am?" Orlov asked turning to Elena.

"Uh...let's try the bar. It may be a good spot to gather intelligence." Elena offered

Orlov nodded, "You heard the lady, let's go to this bar."

News had just arrived a week ago with the Head Marshal's orders. Some 800 Federal troops and almost 300 militiamen drafted from local villages and towns would march to the Federal District to reinforce the men already there. There were circulating rumors of a new gang that had rose in the area, and as it could pose a threat to supply routes coming into the District, the Marshal needed more soldiers to protect these routes - at least, thats what the soldiers assumed.

The men had been assembled at the outskirts of the city, and after eating a hasty breakfast, either at their houses or barracks, had rushed to the edge of town, where the Captain of these troops briefed the men on the current situation. He was careful not to disclose too much information. The citizens watched in silence as the men began to march out of the city. Most were on foot, but the Captain and his officers were on horseback. The long march to the Federal District had begun.

The preparations were almost complete. He just needed a week, and then they would head off to Ecuador...the Admiral smiled, breathing in the fresh, salty air that was so familiar to him now. He watched as his fellow sailors and soldiers loaded supplies into his fleet. He felt someone watching him, and turned abruptly. "Ah, Captain" the Admiral leaned on the railing of the ship casually "what brings you to this ship? Weren't you planning with your subordinates?"

"We're done" The Captain replied firmly, "besides, weren't YOU supposed to be planning with your naval officers?" He smiled vaguely, waving his hand randomly. The Admiral gritted his teeth; he harbored a dislike for the Captain ever since he had been told by the top brass to work together with him. Too arrogant, too sarcastic...

"Besides, Admiral" Not his first name. Not his last name. Always just 'admiral.' "I just wanted to see you. Alone."

"Alone? Later, if you will. I'm overseeing the preparations." The Admiral turned, shifting his gaze back to the busy docks. It was amazing how, after what he had seen, the port was bustling and full of life. The sky was blue, with a bit of a gray-ish tint, but other than that it was good weather for sailing.
"I don't have...later." The Captain's voice was cold now.
The Admiral sighed in exasperation "Then it must be something very important. Very well, I'll lead you to one of the rooms on this ship." He walked past the captain, refusing to look at him and staring straight ahead.

Harbor of Long Beach

Off the coasts of Los Angeles and the lesser affected pre-war city of Long Beach, ships were filling up with soldiers and supplies to head to the island of Hawaii. Annexing the island will be a great feat for the Unified Sectors as the islands are isolated in the middle of the Pacific which shielded them more or less from the nuclear fire and radiation.

"Put your backs into it men!" Shouted one of the captains. "We set sail in an hour so we better be ready."

--Hours later--

The ships had taken off and set course for Hawaii. Hopefully no one had got to it before they did.

New Orleans

After stamping out any resistances to the newly claimed ports of New Orleans and the former state Capital of Baton Rouge, the flow of trade from settlements on the banks of the Mississippi River and the East Coast area began to thrive, the few last areas of fertile land in the Orleans territory that could still be used began, unlike the Southern States on the East Coast, producing some luxury needs, such as Cotton and Tobacco, but still it produced simple things like Wheat and Corn. But now, from ports in Georgia, South Carolina, and Virginia, 10 clippers, with 50 soldiers each sailed down the Southern Coastline and into the Gulf of Mexico, where then they would port in New Orleans, and then re-supply, and then heading towards the island of Hispaniola, where when they land, would set off to conquer the island so that the New United States may be able to, if other countries may be found in the old world, control all trade into the Gulf of Mexico, which would also include the Mississippi and many other Rivers into the former American heartland.

Off the coast of New Orleans
An AR ww1 battleship sat anchored in the coastal waters. If you were in New Orleans, you'd see a lone ship sitting at anchor in the sunset. Its guns were highlighted by the sun. Its flag could be seen flapping proudly, but not be able to see from that distance. 3 red flairs shot into the air, SOS. SAVE OUR SHIP

New Orleans harbor

New United States sailors from trade vessels which were destined to enter New Orleans harbor, and then sail up the Mississippi River, quickly pull into port and report the battleship which lays right off shore from the valuable trade port, which controls the Mississippi River. After this was reported, the General en-charge of the Orleans territory, William McArney, ordered 5 Commercial Tugboats to take the ship into Harbor, but before that, he ordered a group of 20 soldiers to find out what Government, or who, owns the ship.
23 Minutes Later

4 Row boats, with 5 men in each, stop right beside the ship, and request to come aboard,

The colonists pull out rifles and begin shooting at random civilians, and Captain Gregorson yells "Not the bee's!"

"Fire!" The soldiers all fired shots and hit all the crazed colonists.

Hawaii
The navy ships had arrived in Hawaii but what they found isn't what they thought. Lava surged through the islands, fires raged on. It seems that not one, but atleast two or three nukes had landed in Hawaii which caused volcanic eruptions which devastated the islands.
