I would say that James is the Vegeta of the group, but since Jacob, is our Trunks' dad...

THEORY: James is the Tapion of the group. He taught Cinder how to fight with a sword. Also, whoever wiped everyone out must have been able to either kill James instantly or kill him 8 times in a row
