Yeah, if I used all my points it'd be a little scary how advanced and militarized I am, so let's just not.
Edit: my GDP will end up being slightly more than modern Russia's at around 2.3 trillion... Is that kosher or no?

Short History of your Nation: When Knut the Great died he divided his realm between his son Harald (who took England), Harthacnut (who took Denmark) and his third son Svein Knutsson (who took Norway). The three brothers were constantly at war and Harthacnut ended up victorious, overthrowing the unpopular Svein in Norway. Afterwords he landed in England overthrew Harald - once more the Knutrike was united. Harthacnut died without issue under mysterious circumstances in 1042. The dynasty was dead, Harald had drowned when he fled from London and Svein was imprisoned without an heir or any prospects in Denmark.
Olav Hansson, a Danish general seeing chaos as Cnut's Empire fell to pieces seized power in Denmark, he lead a fleet across the Skagerrak to seize Norway but Harald Hardrada took control of Norway and defeated him. Olav fell back to Denmark and Harald Hardrada sailed across the sea to England and took power once more, however he was defeated by a resurgent Anglo-Saxon Kingdom and were forced out.
Hardrada's successors continued to rule Norway and the Fairhair Dynasty became more and more powerful. Slowly how ever the Fairhair began to loose power as Norway descended into chaos as rival kings, and factions the most powerful of whom were the Baglers and the Birkebeiners. Eventually the Birkebeiners took power and installed Haakon IV who would lead Norway into a golden age of culture and expansion. Haakon lead several viking fleets and took control of Scotland, after years of raids and invasions Haakon defeated their King and took the crown for himself.
Haakon also forced the union of Iceland to Norway - Haakon added Iceland as a province of Norway. Haakon's family would continue to rule Norway and would dominate continental politics for a millenia. Norway was the foremost naval power on Earth, "Norway rules the waves" was a common sentiment throughout the world. Canada, Australia, India, New England and South Africa would all become colonies of Norway. Ireland would be become a realm of the Crown of Norway when the High King of Ireland married his daughter to the King of Norway, upon his death she succeeded the throne unified their two crowns.
The American Revolution overthrew the Norwegians and established an independent republic. The Norwegians still remained the foremost naval power on the globe, using their massive navy and professional army to enforce their will on the world. However after World War One Norway as a colonial power began to decline. Still Norway is a powerful force.
Short Description of your nation: Norway is now very liberal. Banking, lumber, fishing, mining, oil and shipbuilding are major industries. What else is their to say?

Could you take out the part about colonies? It forces other nations in those regions to conform to Norwegian history. You can still colonize on a lesser scale.

Well, I'd like the beginnings of the industrial rev. to have begun in China, but we can have it spread farther and faster than in real-life. Which could explain some of the European offshoots we're getting.
