In other words, lengthening the period with which EMI records can profit from new songs could in theory increase the amount of money they invest in finding and developing new artists- although this is doubtful- but increasing the amount of time Walt Disney can keep on profiting from Mickey Mouse and other things he invented back in the 1930s will demonstrably not make him 'have worked harder' back in the 1930s.
