[DEFEATED] Repeal "Commend One Small Island"

Postby Fachumonn » Fri Apr 05, 2024 5:38 pm

ATTENTION: THIS IS NOT MY PROPOSAL, NOR DO I ALIGN WITH IT.
Proposed by Notanam.
Security Council Resolution #388 “Commend One Small Island” shall be struck out and rendered null and void.

The World Assembly Security Council,

RECOGNISING that the previous commendation of One Small Island, otherwise known as “OSI”, is no longer valid due to changes in the political and cultural landscape since the passing of SCR#388,

NOTING the continuous reign of Jean Rowe in Warzone Asia has exceeded the record established by OSI, invalidating the commendation's assertion that OSI holds the longest consecutive delegacy of any Warzone nation”,

ACKNOWLEDGING that the claim of “new vigor [in] Warzone Australia and … becoming the second-largest Warzone region by endorsement count”, is no longer true as Warzone Australia has since fallen into inactivity and has lost endorsements,

AWARE that the claim of "most selfless missions to congratulate featured regions via their patronage of A Giant Meteor, bringing their goodwill to regions and nations across the multiverse for over two years," is no longer accurate as the program has since been discontinued and A Giant Meteor sits inactive in Arizona,

RECOGNISING that the statement about OSI’s commitment to collection international arts, while applaudable, is not relevant to their commendation by the Security Council and does not constitute a reason for commendation,

The World Assembly Security Council hereby repeals the previous commendation of One Small Island.

Sad how there are pure factual inaccuracies with this, especially relating to the A Giant Meteor clause. Although I wouldn't be surprised if this was a queue stuffer.

Anyways, figure I would post this as it has no thread and will go to vote in ~ 3 hours.

Apparently, AGM restarted going to featured regions as of the previous region to be featured. The last region before that was 82 days ago. That shows at least a negligence.

Yes, but it says they were sitting in Arizona, which is simply untrue.

The primary purpose of this resolution is presumably to diversify the Security Council's recent interests with Realm of the Whispering Winds.

In the same way that one sometimes requires a different flavour of toothpaste.

I actually believe this is simply to stuff the queue so there can be no more SC legislation for a while - Sparkalia just campaigned another queue-stuffing declaration on slavery.

You have somewhat alluded to this fact but have not outright mentioned it. I will denounce this for what it is.

Perhaps it might give the defenders more time to think of a strategy other than pushing for liberations and injunctions.

The proposal was accurate, to my understanding, when I submitted it. Clearly I overlooked some things.

The purpose of this proposal was to repeal a commendation of One Small Island.

If this proposal was sincere in its declared purpose, which I doubt very much, but is possible in addition to its obvious insidious queue-stuffing motivation - then genuinely, this is the worst purportedly serious resolution by an experienced gameplayer that I have ever seen. Every single argument here is totally vapid, it looks rather like it was written by someone who was assigned to do it, but didn't know terribly much about OSI in the first place, and so came up with the first things they could think of in five minutes. When the quality is so poor, from two people who really should know better, it's not exactly surprising that no one believes your stated motives.

I want to start by saying thank you to everyone who voted against this proposal.

When I was first approached to be commended, my response was something along the lines of "I don't think I've done anything worth commending, but go ahead if you want. Good luck." I was surprised when my commendation passed because I did not believe so many people would see my humble achievements as commend worthy. Now that a repeal has been overwhelmingly defeated, I am humbled and honored that so many people still think I'm worthy of commending.

Sincerely, thank you all.

Looks like 10,000 votes saw through that. A poor attempt at a repeal, but then it was nothing more than a queue stuffer.
