[SUBMITTED by Demphor] Condemn Hippostania

Postby Gordano and Lysandus » Mon Dec 31, 2012 4:06 pm

THANKS TO THE AMAZING DEMPHOR.

Delegates and Representatives of the Security Council,

Confirms that [nation=noflag]Hippostania[/nation] is a member of the World Assembly,

Draws the attention to GA RES. #2 ‘Rights and Duties of WA States’, GA RES. #9 ‘Prevention of Torture’, GA RES. #27 ‘Freedom of Assembly’, GA GA RES. #30, ’Charter of Civil Rights’, GA RES. #35, Freedom of Expression, GA RES. #43, WA Labor Relations Act and GA RES. #174, Right to Petition are promoted and largely accepted General Assembly Resolutions that protect numerous categories, including the civilian right to express themselves and the protection of their rights and the right to protect nations from unlawful intervention,

Reminds the World Assembly that all WA member states should follow these Resolutions, for they protect their citizens and way of government,

Deplores the fact that [nation=noflag]Hippostania[/nation] has violated GA RES. #2, Section 3 by refusing to ‘refrain from unrequested intervention in the internal or external economic, political, religious, and social affairs of any other NationState’ by intervening without authorization in Karenytenia, overthrowing a democratically elected government in Longfort and participating in the conquest of Falsea,

Strongly Condemns [nation=short+noflag]Hippostania[/nation] for further violating GA resolutions #27, #30, #43 and #174 by most notably and infamously passing and recently renewing the Subversive and Dangerous Ideologies and Activities Restriction Act, which outlaws leftist political parties, threatens the formation of unions, and infringes the right of citizens to petition, all of which violate the previously stated resolutions,

Further Deplores that the Hippostanian Army violated GA RES. #27 by authorizing troops to violently attack protesters in a foreign country,

Further Deplores the fact that [nation=noflag]Hippostania[/nation] has violated GA RES. #9, Articles 3 – 6, 8, 12 and 13 through the construction of the Anzère Correctional Detention Facility, which is used to round up people who seem ‘hostile to the Hippostanian government and punish them for political misdemeanors, such as promoting communism, socialism, anarchism or promoting “anit-Hippostanian propoganda”’

Therefore, concerning that [nation=short+noflag]Hippostania[/nation] has openly violated numerous resolutions, it should be in the interest of the Security Council to,

1. Condemn [nation=noflag]Hippostania[/nation] for openly violating GA RES. #2, #9, #27, #30, #35, #43 and #174;
2. Calls upon [nation=noflag]Hippostania[/nation] to repeal the Subversive and Dangerous Ideologies and Activities Restriction Act and shut down the Anzère Correctional Detention Facility.

It's probably about time we condemn Hippostania for all those violations and they're violating WA resolutions on the matter. For once, let's do this.

Yeah - I trawled through a couple of hundred WAGA resolutions to find stuff to throw at him. I'm sure there's more.

Governmental Stance

Postby Yohannes » Mon Dec 31, 2012 4:14 pm

Through the World Assembly Office of Yohannes, the Foreign Office of Her Majesty's Government would like to voice our support to the idea behind your represented Ambassador's proposal. However, I personally feel that your represented government and its represented Archive Team will have to firstly search the extensive history and record of the Hippostanian government's action throughout the realms of NationStates and the International Incidents.

Secondly, and in connection with the above statement, the reasoning behind the need to do as such is mainly due to the fact that the Hippostanian government and previous elected governments of the previously mentioned nation have done many reprehensible things that we feel the content of your current draft will not be adequate - not even at the very least - enough to really show to the international community what the previous governments and present elected government of Hippostania have done.

Thank you,

The bill appreciates that it does not sufficiently cover all grievances. Unfortunately, I've already submitted it because I'm useless as the WA.

If breaking WA rules was condemnable....we'd have a lot more Condemnations on our hands. I don'e see anything here that's highlights any particularly devious activity worthy of an SC condemnation.

Change of Position

Postby World Assembly Office of Yohannes » Tue Jan 01, 2013 10:19 pm

Representing Her Majesty's Foreign Office and the nation of Yohannes, I and my Office would like to further stress the importance of adding factual sources for each content provided under the draft.

Though hard, without any actual links showing the Hippostanian government's actions the World Assembly Office for the nation of Yohannes will have to remove our previous voice-of-support for this poorly researched and made draft.

Finally, I would like to voice my apology if my previous sentence was perhaps a bit harsh, indeed, but just a little bit of researching surely cannot be that hard to begin with - that is - unless this draft is of no importance to you and your representative in office, most honourable Ambassador.

Yes. Hippo needs to be condemned. Horrible nation. Indeed. How Hippo can even survive without Condemnation.

Vote For Hippo! Hippo! HIPPO! HIPPO!

Only really Condemnable act I can figure out is Opening Thread:

viewtopic.php?f=20&t=143862

Which is not propably first Finnish topic ever in NS.

No Niin että pistetäämpä vaan kaikki suomalaiset kampanja käyntiin ja hankitaan Hipolle ansaittu tummanpuhuva Lätkä. Perkele!

Hippo osaa ainakin arvostaa jos se tulee suomalaisella Sisulla! Ja tässä ei nyt poliittiset mielipiteet paljoa paina!

:o YES

*five minutes later*

Ok, so I did some research and took your resolution, I basically took Hippostanias input, SAIDRA and some other things and put it in a different format. I kinda wrote a different draft in MUN format to include Preambulatory and Operative clauses

Gordano and Lysandus wrote:Again, I'm awful and forget to draft things here before I submit them.

Here it is, anyway:

AFFIRMING the responsibility of the WA and its constituent nations to protect the political rights of people around the world.

NOTING that Hippostania has spent a great deal of time oppressing political rights in present and past, most recently highlighted by its intent to renew its "Subversive and Dangerous Ideologies and Activities Restriction Act" (SADIARA), which is a major and internationally condemned measure which damages Hippostania's claim to democracy.

RECOGNISING that the Hippostanian state utilises the media (notably the Daily Herald) to incite its people to continue the oppression of certain political (e.g. left wing) groups.

ACKNOWLEDGING that the Hippostanian government actively promotes the oppression of left wing political groups on a worldwide stage, with participating in groups like the Anti-Communist Alliance.

REFERENCING General Assembly Resolution #27, which guarantees Freedom of Assembly, which is violated by Hippostania's SADIARA bill, thus HIGHLIGHTING Hippostania's failure to follow its responsibilities as a WA Member State.

REFERENCING General Assembly Resolution #30, which guarantees Freedom of Expression, also violated by Hippostania's SADIARA bill, once more HIGHLIGHTING Hippostania's reluctancy to fulfil its responsibilities to the WA.

REFERENCING General Assembly Resolution #43, which enshrines the right for workers to form unions, is threatened by Hippostania's policy on perceived left wing groups in it's SADIARA bill, again HIGHLIGHTING Hippostania's poor conduct in relation to its participation in the WA.

REFERENCING General Assembly Resolution #174, which protects the right for citizens of a nation to petition, is infringed upon by SADIARA's blanket ban on left wing campaigning.

ADMITTING that this bill does not appreciate all international and internal grievances brought against the Hippostanian state.

This bill CONDEMNS the Republic of Hippostania in its intolerable manipulation of its people and its political system, preventing democracy from taking place and REGISTERS its hopes that Hippostania can change for the better.

Comments?

That's brilliant. Not sure I could claim credit again. :s You can submit that proposal, it's far better than mine. :s

For purposes of the roleplay, on an IC basis, can I claim some relation? Otherwise the continuity is destroyed.
