[ABANDONED] Commend Northrop-Grumman

Postby Tim-Opolis » Tue Oct 11, 2011 2:22 pm

This is a basic draft. Don't hate on me too bad :P

The Security Council,

ACKNOWLEDGES that the new form of technology created by the highly skilled programmers of Northrop-Grumman, which effectively decreases the amount of light viewed by world leaders to the point where it becomes a comely shade of black,

RECOGNIZING this technology as its more commonly referred to name; the Dark Theme

ALLEVIATED that the leaders of the aforementioned nations may now alter this technology at any moment in time without complications,

HAILING the technicians of Northrop-Grumman for their selfless efforts in advancing technology without any ulterior motive(s),

HEREBY Commends Northrop-Grumman

Co-Authored by Connopolis

I just think that he deserves commendation for what he has done :)

That is a... tortuous way of describing it, and of dubious legality too. I'd suggest completely re-thinking it.

Wording something so obviously linked the the technical aspect of the forums is torturous to arrange so that it fits within R4. I'm not necessarily sure how one could fit that into an IC proposal any other way, although I could be wrong, and would be open to suggestions.

We'll try to re-think it. I personally though it was good :(

Not only does this break the proverbial fourth wall, this nation has not contributed to the world in the way that is worthy of the SC. Personally, I don't like the theme. How can the people who feel the same way or who don't use the theme vote for this?

Where does it break the 4th Wall
Not worthy? ---So how come Tiago Silva deserves a Commend badge but N-G doesnt?
As for people who don't use the theme.... I dont use the theme. I still think that he should be commended for making it.

So how come Tiago Silva deserves a Commend badge but N-G doesnt?

The fact that this is commending a game option strikes me like commending [violet] for custom BBC code or some equivalent.

In my opinion, Tiago Silva doesn't either

If one had to argue, Tiago Silva affects all nations without choice, while NG only added an option.

Say he invented a type of bionic implant that alters one's vision to see everything in black.

Or say he has a very efficient team of renovators who are willing to paint all your throne room black.

It is the responsibility of the author(s) to ensure their proposal is legal.

Additionally, mods do not do blanket legality checks on proposals. If there is a specific part of the proposal that you want a ruling on, explain why, and we will give a ruling.

In the meantime, listen to the advice given to you in this thread - both by other SCers, and that given by myself.

The reason I asked was because you said in an earlier post
"and of dubious legality too"

So I wanted to know if it was legal. I guess I'll have to assume that it's not.

I've changed the first clause, but I can't see any other way to change it. It's either this, or some abstract reason that nations can use the dark theme. I personally think it gets the point across, and I'm nearly positive that it's legal.
