Nations Animal World Census (unofficial)

I am asking every nation out there to tell me there nations national animal. I am creating an unofficial world census to see what animals or random things are most popular.

Please tell me the name, the IC (about the animal/creature) and the OCC (why you chose it(You don't have to put this in). The IC and OCC probably won't be on the world census but is there for good measure. Please keep the descriptions short. Here is an example:

National Animal: Dog

IC: It is a four legged mammal, with eyes, nose, a mouth, and big pointy ears. It is a very loyal and obedient companion.

OCC: It is our national animal because it is the most popular pet (Same as above)

The best IC: Goes to Frenequesta

Our nation animal is the red fox.

IC: The red fox, while a non-native species to the planet of Aprioriposterori was chosen by a highly contested vote in the first legislation of the Popular Legislature, which established the basic patriotic symbols of our country, including the flag, flower, bird, and sport. Others in contention were the bingwing, the davanart, the tiger, the elk, and 200 other options from native species to Aprioriposterori to animals known only in fiction. The red fox won in the Popular Legislature by a single vote in contention with the davanart, a native species to Frenequesta. It was chosen to symbolize "independence, intelligence, and ingenuity" and "peaceful, crafty vigilance" although critics state that the fox hardly represents the Frenequestan people given its better known, less savory connotations. The fox has been introduced to Frenequesta where it is mainly an urban animal, although they have started to slowly make their way into the rural areas much to the chagrin of certain environmental groups.

OOC: It's my favorite animal. The more original species I came up with are corruptions of Internet sites: "davanart" derives from "deviantART", "bingwing" from "Bing", and the "seswiki" from "Wikipedia".

The best OCC: Goes to Zarkenis Ultima

The national animal of The Holy Empire Of Zarkenis Ultima is the Spectral Wolf.

Spectral wolves have red eyes and black fur. They're most commonly found on the forests in the city of Dedara, though they can sometimes be found roaming around other parts of the Empire, such as near the mines in Dombaria.

The spectral wolf is a sentient animal. It is rather docile and respects humans, and only attacks that which threatens the fair people of Zarkenis Ultima.

The spectral wolves are a protected species and it is well known among the citizens of Zarkenis Ultima that the Holy Emperor Zarken XIV enjoys the company of these animals, as he has 4 pet Spectral wolves for whom he cares himself. They are called Lovos, Opolis, Ganaru and Kaaysel.

OOC: There's not really much to be said. I like wolves, and that led me to create an intricate excuse to use a fictional sub-species of wolves as my national animal. I sticked to the Spectral Wolves because my national religion revolves around how life and death are one and the same and that through devotion, subjects will reach the Cradle Of Creation in which the grand deity resides.

As you can see, my actions are pretty much dictated by the statistics of my In-Character nation

The lödkatt (lit. wildcat) is a semi-fictional (IRL; real IC) breed of cat that came with the first settlers on Hresejnen. The island was literally bare when it was first colonized, so it's considered something of an inspiration that this cat, originally kept as a pet and to control pests that would inevitably board the island from the same ships as the seafaring heathens, adapted to the harsh cold and landscape to become something tough and unique. Its pelt is typically a white or a peppered brown and thick. It is also distinguishable by its small, tufted ears and wide feet, making it resemble a smaller lynx. Unlike the lynx, however, it retains its tail. Its eyes come in a variety of colours, and are often odd.

Some lödkattr have been reclaimed as pets. They tend to have an active and somewhat unpredictable temperament, but are more easily trainable than their domestic cousins, and have even been used as hunting partners. As one of Hresejnen's most poignant symbols, they continue to represent perseverance and transformation through impossible hardship, a solid simplicity and naturalness to life, the development of wisdom, and the recovery of that which was once thought lost.

Our national animal is the wolf. Like in other parts of the world, the majority of the wolf population are gray wolves. Red wolves are rare these days and critically endangered. Wolves has been known for their bad reputation, more likely caused by many livestock killing cases in centuries. But nowadays, many people fascinated by these wild animals.

In Lykosia itself, the friendship between wolves and humans has been formed since the nation was created, this also caused by the lack of huskies that time, so they inevitably used them to help them in many things, but eventually, the bond become stronger and they're now become more than a great companions. Now, the wolves even used in the Lykosian Republican Forces as attack wolves and they also used in the police force, fire brigade, and search and rescue team. Keeping a wolf as a pet is usual in Lykosia.

OOC: Honestly, I just like wolves. They're so adorable to me

Oviabshe's national animal is the veritability. They are usually orange, about a foot tall, and they look a little like prairie dogs. Veritabilities are sometimes kept as pets, but often bigger animals are preferred. They are the national animal because the region of Gilgalad used to be the only place they could be found.

OOC: I tried to come up with weird things to say in all of my customizable fields because being weird is fun. The appearance of the veritability is based on that of the Sunset Creature, an animal I made up years ago for a drawing I had to do.

Animal: The Attalahonian Wolfbear

IC: A lupine-descendent creature that looks like a bear, but has the size and face of a wolf. It lives in the northern part of the Kaladrine and Angomo provinces.

OCC: It is a symbol of not backing down, and fighting against something, even if it is larger than you. It is a symbol of hardiness and will.

National Animal: Fenris Wolves

IC: Fenris wolves are the proven ancestors of the Vecerian species. They are usually over double to triple the size of a dog and have humanoid features.

OCC: The Fenris wolf derives from the nordic mythology, is the son of loki and foretold to kill the god Odin during the events of Ragnarök. It's my favorite mythological character.

[Azania-Lemuria]

National Animal: Leopard

IC: The Leopard is a quadrupedal feline predator that can be found all over Azania-Lemuria. Its aloof majesty and its ability to spread terror into its prey represent Azania-Lemuria's stance on the rest of the world and Azania-Lemuria's capabilities quite well.

OOC: It's my favourite animal.

[Padullahstan]

National Animal: Zhagt

IC: This rare majestic multi-horned animal has long been a symbol of fortune and courage. We chose it to be Padullahstan's national animal because of the hope this animal brings and the good fortune it may bring our newly established Republic.

OCC: I made it up. Though it looks kind of like the Spirit of the Forest from Princess Mononoke.

[Gorzog]

National Animal: Mordor Scorpion
IC: The Mordor Scorpion is roughly the size of a horse, and has a spiky red and black carapace. It was chosen due to the fact that, like Gorzog, it is at the top of the food chain.
OOC: Gorzog was designed to be evil, and a giant scorpion fits the bill well.

National animal: Giant Ground Sloth

IC: The Giant Ground Sloth was our first domesticated animal. It's used for meat, for muscle power, and for transportation. The various species do well almost anywhere, from the rainforest to the mountains. There's even a marine variety. It's also one of the biggest and strongest animals in our country.

OOC: There are a large number of people who do the living dinosaurs thing; I think I'm the only one who has a nation full of Pleistocene wildlife. And giant ground sloths are my favourite prehistoric animal. Unlike dinosaurs, they were contemporaneous with modern humans, and what's not to love about an elephant-sized hairy beast as tall as a giraffe that can roll a Glyptodon weighing in the same as a medium-sized car? How cool is that?

National animal: Goose

IC: This beautiful, majestic bird is common in our nation, and historically was on the coat-of-arms of one of our least-hated most loved kings. Its an odd thing about our nation, that we keep a lot of monarchist symbols and culture even though we overthrew our monarchs almost two centuries ago.

OOC: I couldn't think of a national animal, so I was like "Eh, I like geese" and they sort of fit the climate I had in mind.

National Animal: Mascarene Palmbird (Leucopsar mauritiensis)

IC: A starling-sized, white bird with a colourful beak, relatively common in coastal rainforests and palm beaches on the Mascarene island of Mauritius, where it feeds on a variety of tropical fruits and insects. In coastal towns, birds are known to feed on bananas and other fruits laid out by citizens.

OCC: It is our national animal because it symbolises the beauty of this tropical archipelago.

Trike (Triceratops horridus and Triceratops prorsus)

A large member of the ceratopsian family and the most common herbivore (in terms of mass times number of individuals) living wild in Mount Shavano. There are two species, T. horridus or the "Plains Trike" and T. prorsus or the "Mountain Trike". Both live in small herds consisting of a single bull and two to eight cows. While there are always some individual bulls without a harem, only a quarter of the Trike population is male. They eat any vegetation they can reach, including the flowering plants that spread across the continent after the arrival, which many dinosaurs refuse to eat.

The plains Trike and mountain Trike are not totally exclusive to their ranges, as they overlap for some portion, nor are the names a hard and fast limit of their range. The plains Trike can be found anywhere in the eastern plains states and sometimes hundreds of miles deep into the mountains. The mountain trike can be found anywhere except the eastern half of the plains. The plains trike is both larger and more numerous.

A peculiarity of the species is that four or five years after sexual maturity the frills of the males grow larger and become fenestrated over a period of about six months. Prior to this, the sexes (and species) are differentiated by the coloration of the frills.

Trikes are very rarely domesticated, as they are far more difficult to control and take longer to mature than the cows, etc. that came through from NA.

well the life forms of cameroi are lananaran life forms rather then earth life forms. our national animal is something the size of a ferret, fennec or squirelle, that because of its natural psionic defense, no one ever actually sees, even if they're looking right at it, unless it wants them to, and that doesn't happen very often.

other lananaran life forms common to cameroi include (among of course many others) the kitterfly, unagasi, colorful song lizzards, and the navijzhalli.

The majestic moose (Alces alces).

IC: Our ancestors followed it into this land as the moose spread northwards after receding glaciers gave way to new lush forests. Moose is both decorative and delicious.
