The most valuable thing on them would likely be their weapon, which isn't that valuable in the first place (AK-series weapons aren't exactly solid gold). Maybe a desperate foreign soldier would find a brick of "chocolate", or a pack of low quality cigarettes, or maybe even a few pieces of heavily inflated currency inside an old pleather wallet. If they really wanted it they could take a cheap Eastern Bloc uniform.

Hundred Twenty of .375 is heavy, the dozen grenades are more important. This is marching load so this is just counting ammunition on the webbing, not the extra the soldier has space to stuff into his haversack.

Shovel is two piece so it can fit maddock head and serve as cudgel.

Also the Shovel blade itself is a gun shield

Probably just some rifles they can't use (tailor made for Unilisian's, not humans), some dead bodies, body armor... nothing much. Unilisian's go into combat with their assigned supplies, and die with them in tow.

If you were to loot a Dragoon, you would most likely find:

1) A big rifle.
2) A store of rations.
3) A canteen of decarbonated vodka.
4) A few pictures of their family.
5) Dogtags.
6) A lot of ammo.
7) Some very big clothes with holes in them.
8 ) A gasmask.
9) A helmet.
10) A radio.
11) Some binoculars.
12) A compass.
13) A map.
14) A GPS.
15) An eyepiece tailor made to fit onto the eye of a Dragoon.
16) Afew bottles of water.
17) Some spare small arms impact plates.
18) A credit balance card.
19) Their name + will on a piece of paper, in their pocket.

This assumes you're looting a typical infantry squad. You'll probably come away with a few Questarian FN Rougecote rifles (they come to the army as 7.62x51mm for political reasons, but many soldiers rechamber them to 7.62x63mm after issue), Dragon Skin body armour, medkits, photo ID with name, rank, and serial number, firestarters, frag grenades, gas masks, filters, canteens (most grunts carry two), a few days' worth of MRE's, Mk.19 KMI 40-cm bayonet-knives, plenty of ammunition, and possibly a M2 machine gun and/or a sniper rifle. The grunts also wear steel or titanium helmets and carry MOLLE packs. Ground pounders are more likely to use a compass than a GPS for navigation, but they can use GPS's in situations where they're needed. The squad will have a radio and possibly an IFV if the terrain can support one. E-tools will be plentiful, some sharpened to use as melee weapons.

That's it for standard issue. A typical soldier also carries a wallet with photos, cards, and a mix of Kahanistanian and local currency. Most soldiers also carry combs and bottles of liquid soap in their pack for quick cleaning after breaking camp. A typical male soldier will also have a wide array of condoms on him for going into town. A female soldier may carry them too but is more likely to carry a small makeup bag and a change of civilian clothes if she expects to go to town after action. There are few drug laws in Kahanistan and many combat troops carry cocaine or amphetamines for use in battle and morphine or heroin for pain if they are wounded. The average soldier will have letters from home, envelopes, stamps, and writing implements.

it's not wise to loot the corpse of a gwrachbyd soldier.
the weapons though using modern tech are quite advanced (they use modern tech in new ways making a more powerful/reliable weapon) but are boobytrapped so that they only recognise the finger prints of the soldier and his squad mates for anyone else a thermite charge will detonate destroying the weapon's components and possibly the weilder's hand (and anything else close by)
their armour is fitted with EEG and ECG sensors to monitor the wearer's health and stress levels as well as squad uplink radio and inbuilt computer systems, but they are programed to require a coad to access the computer/radio systems if the wearer's heart stops. anyone failing to input the correct password will actervate the failsafe that destroys the computer and radio systems rendering them worthless (also activates should someone attempt to open them without inputting the maintenance code)
so the only safe things worth taking from gwrachbyd soldiers are ammo (which is unique to gwrachbyd weapon systems) grenades, knives, battons (common on enlisted men) swords (common on officers) tools, webbing and the bergen (backpack) which usually only contains spare uniform (which comes with an intergrated tamper proof electronic ID) survival gear, rations, extra ammo. ect

due to the largly open SOP most units carry a few personal items or costomise their equipment so one may be lucky to find watches, lockets, costomised knives, and other such items of intrest but not usually of much value

Postby Albaie » Sat Apr 16, 2011 4:05 am

A albaie soldier wears standard red and white tunics black trousers epaulet with rank on and a black shako but this is only on duty in albaie and if on a campaign would wear khaki under a new high tech type of Kevlar which covers the whole body leaving no weak points

As a armament they would all carry a weapon produced by the holy empire as well as a holy empire pistol knife and ammunition

Officers would have more gold on uniform as well as carrying a sword map and flares

all men have a backpack with a shovel, pickaxe, rations and any loot or mementos they have

If it's built for an Ursine to use in combat then a human might have some trouble putting enough force on the trigger... and would have serious trouble with the recoil.

What's carried can vary widely from unit to unit, especially as most of our troops are from the Clans' militias rather than the Confederal Army and some clans are quite different culturally from the country's mainstream ('HeartWoods') society. There'd almost certainly be one or more knives as well as whatever firearms were being carried and a bayonet, and maybe an axe as well, but the grips on those weapons would probably be a bit too thick for easy use by humans.
Uniforms, possibly some tools, religious symbols and quite possibly one or more 'good luck' charms (presumably not verry good ones, if you're looting their bearers' corpses...), maybe a bit of cash if they're operating on friendly soil, cooking gear almost certainly some food (including something sweet) and something to drink (quite possibly including an alcoholic beverage as well as whatever non-alcoholic ones are routinely carried), maybe a book (which might be in English rather than one of the Ursine languages), maybe a musical instrument even if that wasn't part of their issued equipment...
Bears tend to be individualistic, and have fairly high carrying capacities, so individuals quite often take along varied other items of their choice -- mainly little luxuries -- as well.

If they're the enemies our soldiers face often, such as violent dissenters, bandits and separatists, then they'd be too cautious to loot our corpses for fear of triggering some sort of fail-safe. But if they did try, assuming they had the means to transport it, they'd loot a good deal of weaponry that the Decemvirate would rather not lose to enemy hands. Fencing it or anything would be off, though, for obvious reasons.

The biggest prize on a Samozniy soldier would be his rifle most likely. To keep morale up, Brass aren't too bothered with enforcing rules on personal effects (except in the Special Forces and Airborne divisions), so if you're lucky (and the Samozniy soldier's an idiot) you might loot yourself a gold watch or necklace.
Samozniy Military Industries aren't big on ammunition innovation, so all our weapons fire pretty standard ammunition (plenty of seven-six-two by 51mm battle rifle cartridges and some '50BMG), and half our infantry weapons even use NATO-standard STANAG magazines. If low on ammo, an enemy soldier would probably have little trouble scrounging spare ammunition from a fallen Samozniy - or taking his weapon. Generally, there's a one-weapon-to-a-role policy in Samozniy stocks - so you'd be able to restock off the ones you kill indefinitely.
The 14.5x114mm rounds aren't common, but they're certainly not new. They've been around since WWII.

Whilst Samozniy Spetsnaz don't carry personal effects for obvious reason, they do have combat knives unlike any other in the military. The high quality blade and almost ornate handle make them prized war trophies. Then again, if you were able to secure a Samozniy Spetsnaz knife from his corpse, you're either a battlefield scavenger or it was well earned.
In addition to their combat knives, they carry Russian-issue Spetsnaz Battlistic knives. These are far more utilitarian than stylish, but are excellent CQC weapons.

They would find food, ammunition, knives, tools, other gear (body armor on some, helmets, boots, other clothing, first aid kits, etc.). Personal mementos they'd also find, pictures of loved ones, locks of hair, occasional jewelry, etc. Contraceptives would also be much in abundance, so would pornography. Tampons, pads and diva/moon cups among the female troops. They might be provoked into cutting off fingers and ears and such, upon seeing that the Empire's troops are in the habit of doing so as a form of taking trophies. Playing cards, dice, other such things.
