Jimani soldiers often carry several items of potential interest to enemy soldiers. Food is one possible find on a corpse, though not the most likely one. Wine, other forms of alcohol, and cigarettes are all very commonly found on a Jimani soldier. Less commonly found are marijuanna cigarettes, which, while legal in Jimanistan and considered culturally acceptable, are not issued to active duty troops. Ammunition would be a more practical thing to look for, as the Jimani Army takes great pride in keeping their men and women as well-supplied with ammunition as possible.

As a side-note, Jimani weapons would be an unlikely item of interest to a foreigner, as most firearms in the Jimani arsenal are poorly designed and manufactured. However, the numerous Kalashnikov variants in service might be of value, if one were somewhat desperate.

They would probably find dog tags, perhaps pictures of the soldier's families, think regular personal effects that RL soldiers slip into their battledress in, say, Iraq. However they would also have access to much equipment, including M6A2 rifles and an upgraded version of their Dragon Skin level V body armor.

In order to prevent body looting and seizure of dead/wounded, during the invasion of Southern United Africa, Wikipedian troop always watched each other and at certain points random radio calls would be dispatched addressed to individual troops or particular units, to ensure they were all accounted for. If a unit came in contact and engaged in combat, they would remain in constant radio contact with other units for situational feedback, requests for additional units, air/fire support, etc. If for some reason an entire unit was suddenly killed before sending out a call, another check call would come in to request situational feedback, and if no one in the unit answered a small search would be launched. A call would be sent up the chain of command requesting a trace of the units' handheld GPS device (at least one soldier per squad carries one for navigation, and multiple batteries are carried so that it can be left on). The commanders would order a search, overlay its location with a digital map (not as fancy as it sounds; it would be on the same level as Google Maps), and send the information, such as a street name/designation, to the requesting unit. They would then use their squad's own GPS to find the street or nearest block. To locate the soldier and proceed from there. This could all happen in a matter of minutes. If an enemy is unfamiliar with Wikipedian battledress (which they usually are), it will take hem longer to drag the dead body with all the gear and remove the body armor plus lining than it would take for the search unit to locate them, engage them, and request support. Random check calls to account for everyone would vary in frequency depending on the intensity of the situation. For example check calls were less frequent in low-intensity situations where the focus of the mission was restoring order and social normality to successfully captured towns, and much more frequent in higher, medium-intensity situations such as the battle for Ermelo. In high-intensity situations like during the battle for Orania, where foreign fighters from groups such as Combat 18 trained young teen girls to use knives and spears to attack coalition troops, check calls were omnipresent and any whiff of suspicious activity was called in. Since in that unique situation the area consisted of protectionist-minded white civilians, many of whom were instructed by the town's defenders to engage coalition forces, any civilian you saw could be a threat.

In the SPECIFIC situation described, the soldier's body armor could easily stop a bayonet thrust to the chest.

Guns, ammo, rations, just basic things in a ration pack.

If they were looting a militia body, exactly what gun they'd get would be almost totally random.

Some sort of holy token, some very poor armour - leather, chainmail or the like, knife, sword, maybe a bow and quiver of arrows... Not even terribly good boots.

That's the human soldiers, anyway.

Nobody's been able to kill a fae soldier and survive long enough to loot them without the body slipping back into Faerie.

If ANY absurd rebel were to loot the deceased corpses of our soliders (For shame), they would most likely find alot of equipment.
(Repair tools, Sometimes a Portable shield cover generator, sometimes a sentry gun, a weapon (Suit powered) )

They would also find the soldiers dogtags, a radio and whatever more there is, is personal to the soldier.

What have the scavengers found today?

Pain.

We don't leave our dead behind, and we'd kill a hundred men to get back even one of our people. Their souls are too precious to lose.

Besides, our armour wouldn't fit non-Eldar due to our different proportions, much of our equipment can only be used by someone who knows how to psychically attune with it, we don't loot others and thus carry nothing beyond our own gear, and chances are the dead are being used as a trap by someone who can predict the future.

As I said, pain. Probably safest to leave the dead alone.

IF an enemy is able to get into a Decepticon soldier's storage panels, he will be "rewarded" with about a Cube's worth of Energon, a field repair kit, other repair items, and whatever our soldier had looted. There will also be two energy blasters, one on each arm, but these are welded on so they're certainly not something you could just grab. The size and weight of the blasters also makes a spur-of-the-moment grab impossible for human-sized enemies, though a crew could conceivably carry one away.

Enemy commanders, however, may be smart enough to realize that the most valuable things aren't the ones on a Decepticon's body. The most valuable thing is the body itself: An ultra high-tech transforming robot/fighter jet that is almost impossible to shoot down.

Unfortunately for enemies, if they have managed to highlight that "almost" part by deactivating one of us, most of the body's electronics will be completely fried and/or the engine will have been melted or blown to bits. Still, if the enemy is lucky, there will still be some parts intact enough to do some reverse-engineering.

To prevent such reverse-engineering, Decepticons will often blast a deactivated body into total debris if they have to leave it behind. This deprives the enemy of the technology, and the Scroungers can come and recover the shrapnel later.

This is not seen as "desecrating the dead" because in our culture, the mind is considered the entirety of the person. Bodies are easily replaceable. A Decepticon is only considered dead if he was unable to upload his mind back to the Save Vault - and if that happens, keeping his body around is not going to help him.

A standard Red Tidean Soldier will have:

An M-100 Assault Rifle
Ammunition for the M-100 Assault Rifle
Fragmentation Grenades
(Maybe) an Anti-Tank Grenade
A M-10 Sidearm (silenced if it was an officers)
Ammunition for the M-10 sidearm.
A combat knife (that also acts has a fix for a bayonet)
An entrenching tool (usually sharpened to act as a second melee weapon)
A radio-ear piece.
A shrapnel helmet
A front-and-side body armor.
A the soldiers ID card.
Maybe a family picture or some other useless trinket from home... possibly a book (but its written in Cyrillic, so yeah).
Field Ration Bars (ever wonder what it would be like too mix bacon, lettuce, carrots, and dump-on a bucket of extra-strength blandness? If you take a bite of one of these you'll quickly find out why you never wondered about that)
A gas mask and filter.
A chemical hood.
A radio-pack (if it was a platoon radioman)
Company/battalion-level maps (if it was a lieutenant or captain, respectively).

Soldiers are generally issued only their basic main weapon, their basic main side arm, a knife, grenades, food, and ammunition.

Besides, the soldiers looting the Saurisians' body would stir up a hornet's nest as the commanders in the field would know when a squad's not reporting in and thus send in troops to find out what happened to them and undoubtedly kill those who killed our soldiers.

Course, this would only apply to Reptilian soldiers...

The sort of enemies our soldiers face are more likely to to eat our fallen hero than loot him, so we generally don't worry about what sort of pocket litter he carries. Outside of the armor he's wearing (which would probably be useless to a non-pony) and the weapon he's carrying, the only things our soldier would probably have on him would be small sentimental tokens, such as pictures of loved ones and such.

A typical solider of the Republic has his rifle, the bayonet on his rifle, several magazines of ammunition, a pocket book, most likely of the religious variety, two grenades, body armor, boots, letters and such from loved ones, some money, a good-quality watch, dog tags, food, the body parts, and a bunch of other stuff.

They get a nice [if not bloodied] white/black/gold trimmed Napoleonic-styled uniform; personal affects such as photographs of family, wrist watch, pocket-bible[can't be going to war without God] etc. Rifle varies from the standard bolt-action rifle of the Prussian Heer to the StG-44's of the Imperial Grenadiers[Guard], a ration or two, spare ammunition and a bayonet.

That's about it.
