History
What is now known as Pays de lor, has been inhabited by native peoples for thousands of years, believed to have migrated from Africa, across ice bridges during the ice age. There where three main tribal peoples, the Uzhnu, Kazgan, and Ulthuri, as well as dozens of smaller tribes. In 80 BC, the Uzhnu, declared war on the Ulthuri, after a Ulthuri nobleman, killed one of his wifes, who was a Uzhnu, quickly, the two tribal empires declared war, they also dragged in smaller, nomadic tribes. Due to the involvement of nearly every tribal group in the region, it is nicknamed the Pays de lor, "world war". The war dragged on for 5 years, with no victory.
The Kazgan tribe, previously neutral, and also the most advanced, sought to conquer the down and out empires, however, they proved to be dead wrong, united in hatred, the Ulthuri and Uzhnu tribes quickly pushed back, and exterminated the Kazgan tribe. No other major tribal wars occurred after that. In the year 876AD, a New French States explorer named Sir Joeseph, stumbled upon the continent while trying to find a sailing route, under orders from Pope John I. Quickly, he named it Pays de lor (French for, the golden land) for the how the beaches had such a golden color. It was also named this, because with further exploration, he discovered gold. Sir Joeseph quickly reported back to the pope. When the term gold was heard, immediately, many settlers came. By 1000 AD, half the population was french, the natives, quickly died off due to disease, and genocide. The French, seeking to exploit the natives, installed a system of slavery.
The year is now 1585, and over 60 percent of the population is French.
