Milky Way Map [FT]

The IRON fiasco has inspired me to put together a map of the Milky Way so that such shenanigans are easier for people to figure out.

If you want to get put onto the map, post in this thread with the grid coordinates and system name and I can add it to the official version. Make sure to mention what alliance you're in. Failure to do the coordinates correctly will result in not getting added to the map.

Do note, however, that I won't be adding dozens of systems or drawing arbitrary borders in space. I'm also going to have to ask that people try to stay inside the galaxy.


Grid system: Major grid lines are every 5000 light years. Minor grid lines are every 1000 light years.
The grid coordinates system works as follows: Letters first, then numbers. X then Y.

For example, my home system Halcyon would be in grid DO52. Going across the top you find the letter D, then follow it down to the letter O. This places us in grid DO. In DO we then go five squares right to 5, then one square down to 2. DO52. On the other hand, Raysia would be in grid JK12, while Arcturus is in FJ52.

"Dominion" Hyperspace Gate Network: Systems on Dbrought's cheap imitation gate network are marked with a pinku asterisk (*).

Could you add me to the very top right of Delta? I have 2 planets, one is called Leavatia, the other is called Riveara (we have a few habitable moons orbiting each planet, but that you cant show). The two planets are side by side.

Also, you should have a group of non-aligned worlds, like Leavatia and Riveara, that would be highlighted yellow.

The reason we are not aligned is cause our races are pretty much pirates. All the major pirate in the galaxy are based on our two planets.

One more thing, I will be getting involved in that thread soon, I've just been busy with real life.

You'll need to be much more specific than "top right", Leavatia. The galaxy is a very large area and there aren't many landmarks. It would be easiest if you marked where the systems are in Paint and emailed the map to me.

The first one is the closest to a 'homeworld' we've got in this universe. It is the location of Branch Office, the location of the reality gateway where we entered this universe, and it's location is a carefully guarded IC secret. Foreign traffic is never permitted there, and no TRIAD ship stationed in other outposts and colonies has exact coordinates of the system.

The second entry was my first major trade station, and is considered a major colony even today. It was positioned for easy access to several nearby nations.

New Haven was the first 'Franchise' colony. A major colonization effort, and was placed near enough to Sol to be within a few days travel to the major powers there.

The last two are new colonies. I established that I would have TRIAD set up a new 'major' system-wide colony when my NS population reaches every one hundred million. Not sure if I'm going to actually map any more than these five though. Praxis is the location of a major shipyard facility, while Gehenna is sited in a region of unstable space to harvest various forms of exotic matter for different technologies.
