Main Military Weapon of Your Country (Mk. II)

To help start off the new thread, here are the issue weapons of my nation's military.


The standard issue rifle of most of Kivigrad's infantry troops is the Mk.4 Battle Rifle. It is currently replacing the Mk.3. Kivigrad decided to design and field the Mk.4 after troops wanted something smaller and more compact, but still had power and accuracy.

The Mk.5 LSW was made in conjunction with the Mk.4 Battle Rifle to have commonality in calibers across as many weapon fields as possible. It has fully replaced the Mk.4 LSW in all branches of the service.

During the design of the Mk.4 BR and Mk.5 LSW it was decided that since the military was steering away from the 7.62x51mm round, it was time to improve upon the LRWS and design it around a true long range caliber. The result was the Mk.3 LRWS.

Mk. 2 Combat Shotgun

The Mk.2 is Kivigrad’s first ground up build of a combat shotgun. Due to the larger amounts of urban combat soldiers are currently facing, something had to be done for room clearing. The result was the Mk.2 CS, a 12 gauge semi-automatic shotgun issued to units on breaching and clearing operations.

Mk.2 Anti-Tank Missile

The Mk.2 is a laser guided anti-tank missile packed with almost a pound of explosives. Typically ammunition is a tandem HEAT round made to cut through modern tank armor, though it can also be fitted with thermobaric missiles for anti-personnel uses.

The Mk.3 Mortar system is a 60mm smoothbore mortar designed to multiply a squads power. It is capable of firing a multitude of different rounds, including air burst munitions.

SPC is an intermediate cartridge, but since its based off of the .30 cal, a full sized round, I called it a battle rifle.

AK-74X, a regular AK-74 with a fitted SVD-ish stock and sprayed with a special mixture of teflon and other materials to reduce wear and tear. Pretty boring but practical weapon.

Anyone have any ideas on how I could improve this weapon that would be cheap to do irl? Also, don't say anything along the lines of "stop using an ak." I won't laugh.

Use the standard AK mag, 7.62x39 imo is superior to 5.45x39. Also, standard pistol grip and stock, and a rail system.

Alright, I took your advice on the magazine and added rails, although I prefer the SVD stock/grip because my troops are trained to fire on semi-auto as accurately as possible on the cheap weapon, and it's nice to use a stock like this if you're not firing on the run.

EDIT: I suppose if it uses the 47's round I can't call it a 74 any more. So instead, I suppose I'll just call it an AK-X.

Is the PSG1 sufficiently durable for military purposes?

SPC is an intermediate cartridge, but since its based off of the .30 cal, a full sized round, I called it a battle rifle.

So is the 10mm Auto. 6.8 SPC was built to duplicate 7mm Brit, which was a purpose-designed intermediate round.

The same guy who did the SPC went on to develop the 7x46 UIAC, which can be found on gun blogs as the true intermediate round which replaces both full-power and SCHV bullets.

I suggest the Arctic Warfare Super Magnum for the following reasons:
1, Its developed from the proven Arctic Warfare Sniper Rifle, Aka L96
2, It fires the .338 Lupua round, which is more accurate and almost as hard hitting than the .50 cal, with the added bonus of not being Cliche nor making a snipers eyes water when they fire.
3, It has the longest Confirmed sniper rifle kill in history.
4, It looks badass

You'd want something lighter and more portable, perhaps with a shortened PDW variant for use with vehicle crews. Maybe the F88 Austeyr? It has that compact version (F88C) for artillerymen.
