Tactic Name: Fabius Belli
How Many Units needed to work: One man. Preferably more.
Number of times used: Every modern Moralite War

Example scenario of used tactic:

Moralite soldiers take a town. enemy attacks. Moralites pull a fighting retreat, make no effort to hold ground, inflict maximum casualties on enemy. Hit the enemy from multiple sides with artillery, while sending covert teams to eliminate enemy artillery. Once the enemy is softened up, drop troops in via helicopter, while the enemy engages them, send in Mechanized Infantry.

Repeat until the enemy has no more men to throw at you.

Tactic Name: Vermont Guerilla
How Many Units needed to work: Any Number
Number of times used: All Wars

Example scenario of used tactic:

A group of Vermontian Militia hide in the forest, and silently take positions. En masse, they first target officers and generals, before either retreating and attacking again later as the army marches on, or make quick attacks on the main soldier body.

Guerilla then Retreat then Guerilla then Retreat until you wear them out and the main invading force retreats.

In the Fatatatutian armed forces, all tactical thinking is impromptu and al fresco. Officers in action don't have time to consult a playbook. They also don't have time to give their tactics cutesy names.

Every tactic is designed for the specific situation, including terrain, enemy strength, friendly strength, even the time of day. Hence, it could be said that each tactic is used only once. If a junior officer does the same thing more than twice, I'm tempted to send him home.

Tactic Name: Adrian Vacuum
How Many Units needed to work: Depends on size of enemy
Number of times used: Several, however primarily during the Urcean Civil War

Example scenario of used tactic:

At the infamous Siege of Summerwyn, Colonel Adrian Nero and the Imperial Guard made this tactic infamous; with his main forces in the city and an armored division outside the city, the main forces retreated towards the beach, drawing in the enemy. The armored corps proceeded to quickly overrun the lightly defended city. The troops under Nero as well as the tank corp proceeded to encircle the enemy force at the top of the beach. Instead of engaging, the typical Adrian Vacuum strategy is to wall in the enemy and allow artillery/coastal warships to bombard the enemy force either until surrender or destruction, as was done here.

Tactic Name: Operation Kablooka
How Many Units needed to work: If done right, it only needs two or three soldiers to do so.
Number of times used: Once so far (in the Great Linux Open Source War), but it is a commonly discussed method bound to be used again.

Example scenario of used tactic:

Operation Kablooka is a very unconventional form of warfare. Some even consider it a black ops mission. Disregarding traditional Rules of War, the soldiers strip every military item from them, posing as civillians.

They will find some sort of excuse to be seen- occasionally in the open -with what, to a layman, looks like a black sofa with an antenna sticking out of it. In reality, this is a 17MT nuclear bomb, and the only form of atomic weapon owned by the country. The symbols and stickers are removed from the bomb, and the item is covered in tarp, to more resemble a real sofa.

Then, the soldiers will, in some fashion, wheel this nuclear weapon into the target, sometimes in broad daylight, claiming they are, say, "movers", "deliverymen", etc., and fooling them by actually letting them check their moving van or whatever it is they are transporting the weapon in. Provided that they don't sit on the nuke (it's solid steel), it can easily pass for a sofa, and the antenna can be excused by claiming it's another item they're shipping (if it's with other items, that is).

The nuke is delivered into the target, and the movers clear out of the blast zone. When they are a safe distance away, they detonate the weapon and vaporize the area in a mushroom cloud of atomic fury!

Tactic Name: Schwerer Schlag
How Many Units needed to work: varies, wildly
Number of times used: never

The target is subjected to artillery and air strikes, carpet bombing and intense sound bombardment. If they haven't already surrendered incendiary devices are dropped to their rear and shock troops attack from the front, and then fall back allowing more stable infantry to hold the line, holding any enemies and allowing tanks to flank them.

Tactic Name: Animal Pandemonium! (Theorists divided into two schools of thoughts regarding the name; some would prefer an amalgamization to "Andimalonium!")
How Many Units Needed to Work: Any number of military units, several clowns and zookeepers
Number of Times Used: Exactly once. Because the best tactic is the one you only need to use once.

Example Scenario of the Tactic: Khorsunian military units were defending the city of Kreynoriapolis from an enemy army from the nation of Genericbadguys. The Khorsunians were outnumbered against an enemy with superior strategy, technology, and motivation. As the Genericbadguys closed in on the city center, a daring Khorsunian Lieutenant put a final last ditch tactic into action. In the midst of street-to-street fighting, several clowns leaped out of cover and began prancing about in the open. Suddenly, the whole Genericbadguys army was distracted and chased after the clowns into the Khorsunian Big Zoo. When the time was right, the Lieutenant ordered all the zookeepers to open up every cage at once. Suddenly it was chaos. And pandemonium and mayhem! All the Genericbadguys were getting run over and running around in circles and shooting randomly into the air and panicking. All of them were killed or chased off into the sunset. Khorsun was saved, and everyone was happy. The end.

Our military primarily operates on international peacekeeping missions, so our tactics our typically less lethal, but no less debilitating. This is one of our favored tactics.

Tactic Name: Razzle Dazzle
How Many Units Needed: Variable. Depends on the size of the opposing force. Can range anywhere from a squad or a platoon to entire batallions or more.
Number of times used: In almost every peacekeeping operation and many times during full scale wars.

Example Scenario: A hostile military/paramilitary force is trying to capture a small town with many civilians about to be caught in the crossfire. We start by surrounding the area with an equivalent number of troops loaded up in APCs/IFVs just far away enough to avoid detection. Then we target the largest concentrations of enemy forces and launch a volley of flash-bang munitions from long range mortars and mobile artillery. As soon as they've detonated over the enemy, our vehicles move in quickly, engaging the enemy with high-brightness light beams and tear-gas launchers to keep them disoriented while the troops dismount and apprehend the hostiles.

If casualties are suffered along the battleline, the column behind the tank will immediately send a replacement to take his stead.

Only the front battle rank will provide walking fire open the enemy, in calculated volleys, when they require reloading, the CO will blow a whistle and the second line will rush forward and continue the fire whilst the first rank reloads and keeps pace behind.

MG teams will run along the flanks of the group, two to each side, one advancing forward, the other providing suppression.

Tactic Name: Ladder
How Many Units needed to work: Varied.
Number of times used: Many.

The tactic is a combination of blitzkrieg and trench warfare.

It's starts out as a heavy assault to take a certain position, than fortify it and repel a counter attack, than re-mobilize on the retreating enemy forces, trying to cause as much damage to thier military potential in the process as possible, and than move on to next objective.

Tactic Name: Jesnu's Jehovah
How many units needed to work: One hundred, but the more the better.
Number of times used: Two to three times in past wars.
Example scenario of used tactic:

The soldiers would pose as simple travelers wishing to live in the target city. They would bring their swords with them, claiming to be members of a strange religion, and say that the swords were merely traditional. To try and elude suspicion, they would live in the city for a month or so, until they seemed to be peaceable civilians. However, once ordered to do so, the soldiers would take their swords and rise against the city and begin overrunning it and killing any law enforcement there. If there were any enemy politicians in the city, they would be killed. To the target city it would seem to be just a rebellion and no one would suspect that another country was behind the entire thing.

Tactic Name: Surgical strike
How Many Units needed to work: Several BT-100 Ouvert strike bombers, small number of sniper and special ops teams.
Number of times used: Almost every military operation.

Example scenario of used tactic: Chrismanic troops are about to invade an enemy held city. The enemy is heavily entrenched, and has several radar stations, AA positions and air fields, rendering an air assault (the usual Union invasion tactic) foolhardy. Most of these installations can quite easily easily destroyed by an armoured assault. However, the targets are located in a heavily populated area, and the Chrismanic doctrine is to avoid civilian casualties at all costs. The enemy is also lead by a charismatic general and have an excellent communications sustem.

In order to counter these advantages, several special operations teams are dropped behind enemy lines. These teams use laser designators to target key enemy locations. Supersonic BT-100 Ouverts drop cruise missiles or bunker busters (depending on how reinforced said target is) on said locations, resulting in a large but contained explosion that destroys said target. The contained explosion minimizes civilian casualties, and destroys the eyes and ears of the enemy.

Sniper teams target the individuals that lead the enemy. The loss of a general or even a government figure is a serious blow to the moral of an army. The tactic removes the eyes, ears, and brain of the army, allowing Chrismanic forces to begin a helicopter assault against a broken and easily defeated army.

Since Aridiya is a desert country with lots of desert, the fighting withdrawl will probably be the tactic. We plan to use attrition on an invading armored force. Airpower is split between defensive interceptors, SAMs and offensive cruise missle strikes. Our cruise missles are stealthed in several different ways, including thermal signature. They are deployed from land, air and sea based platforms. And yes, we do have special weapons.

Depressingly I agree with Fatatatutti for once. An officer should use his own intelligence, creativity, and problem solving abilities to succeed, not a playbook of tactics. Anglo-Saxon officers are not taught tactics in the military academy, they are ordered to lead units of soldiers against each other in simulated battles.

At a tactical level, the only 'playbooks' available are guidelines, providing insight from elder and more experienced officers into different methods and manners of succeeding in a mission. They are intended to be inspirational scripts, building only the mote of a plan, while the officers in charge then build on, and expand to create a proper strategy.

"Unlike most nation here, we dont have a huge book saying the tactics which a commander need to follow. Dictator gives a single bold order "To win the war" to high command which sends the battle details with same bold order to commander, who will then asses the situation, use his common sense, use his knowledge from military education and intelligence report to fulfill the order from Dictator. If we started to give every tactics used in battle a name, we would perhaps publish a entire book full of names, and if we started to put down the details of the tactics we would perhaps write a encyclopedia."
