Rare Artifacts in YN

Postby Naui Tu » Thu Feb 01, 2024 5:12 am

Rarity is an important thing in nature. Sometimes, it's common to see your house have the same computer every day. Sometimes, a fossil you haven't knew was uncovered by archeaologists as of this week. So that puts the "Artifact Rarity Scale" to action. You can set the scale point by bolding how rare it is. Here is how it works in a nutshell. Your clothes is the most used and always discovered thing everyday. This comes to the "Most Common" part of the scale. In the other side, a mommy tomb that was left underground for about 3500-4000 years was the known least used and only discovered only once before it was left there. This comes to the "Legendary" part of the scale. So, the scale goes from most used and always discovered to unused and newly discovered until it was left for good. You can pick out the level in the code format below to check the Artifact Rarity Scale.

Artefact Rarity Scale:Most Common | Common | Normal | Rare | Super Rare | Legendary

Ancient Troll-tec was discovered in March of 2021 but colonized in November. The god of trolling, Mega Trollge, has laid dormant in the city for thousands of years, as a sufficient amount of trolling has been achieved throughout history. Recently, though, amounts of trolling have crashed, birthing the event "The Ancient Troll-quinox", which is on the 22nd of September every year.

│Simon's script · Dated back to 1200-1300 AD

The Simon's script, is an unknown script which has yet to have been translated for 4 decades. It was found in 1951[#1] in the Magsaka Valley[#2] by Paleño archeologist Simon C.

Notes
1. Palan is set in the 90s.
2. Magsaka is related to farming. It is translated to "To farm" in Google Translate (Filipino to English).
3. Yes, I didn't follow the rarity scale :) . It should probably be "Super Rare" in Paleñeno history.
4. Yes again, I didn't finish the entire thing :) . Maybe tomorrow?

March 14th 2008
[Rhanukhani State News Network Late Night Bulletin]

Good evening viewers. The time is eleven o'clock and I'm Trent Butterknife bringing you the news all across England thanks to the Rhanukhan OrbiTech satellite communications network!

Tonight's main headlines:

Triumphant Return: Following yesterday's reports of newly discovered survivors of the Lazarastran liberation, RSNN can exclusively reveal the return of roving reporter Sophie Futon! She'll be bringing her full report on her rescue, treatment for banalite infection and on her experiences under the influence of "Queen Lucy" Sideboard - the fugitive would-be ruler of Lazarastra who's current whereabouts are still unknown.

New Governor: Constantine Malachite was formally appointed governor of the island provinces of Lehpuhrta and Currakhan - formerly the Isle of Tantrum and Jilted Atoll respectively - in a special ceremony today. Malachite Evolving Enterprises is using its vast resources to create a functional modern infrastructure on the islands, which were barely established as colonies by Nivogal when that nation was destroyed in a nuclear catastrophe recently. Dwight Alabaster was at the ceremony and gives us his report later in the programme.

Who's it Gonna Be?: Political correspondent, Gillian Towelrail brings us the latest roundup of the election campaigns of those hopefuls wanting to be governor of Kharanwhari or Bahamghar - including a special interview with candidate, movie legend and action hero, Brett Showercap - star of the "Exterminator" movies and "The Walking Man".

And finally: Ahztlarhan Rising? Archaeologists have reported finding evidence of a stone age civilization on the seabed of the Hesslian Gulf, leading many to speculate that the legendary nation of Ahztlarhan - mythical homeland of the Rhanukhii tribe who founded Rhanukhan in ancient times - may be more real than previously believed. Professor George Teapot, whose team made the discovery, has been quick to point out, however, that although several buildings have been found so far - including a large temple-like structure - none of them are made of pure gold as described in the myth. Jonathan Spatula brings us his report on the ongoing investigation.

All the news, sport and tomorrow's weather coming right after this break...

June 27th 2008
[Benbhallan University, Department of Antiquities, office of Dr Henry "Inukhanes" Phone Jr]

*RIIIIIIING! RIIIIIIING!*

Hi - "Inukhanes" Phone speaking!

What the...? "Inukhanes"? I called the burrowing octopus that! Junior?

Uh - Dad! *cough* ah - Great to hear from you!

Junior, I want you to come to Hesslia immediately.

What? Now? Is this to do with Professor Teapot?

Yes! Those damned Symyano! I told George to get out of town as soon as they started landing but he insisted on staying with the project...

Oh Dad, I'm sorry - I know the two of you were old friends.

We were - that's why the University put me in charge of the Ahztlarhan investigation.

They did? Wow! That's like the Holy Grail of Rhanukhani archaeology! And you want me to join you? I'll be on the next plane down!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

July 1st 2008
The Journal of Dr Henry Phone

The Ahztlarhan dig is back on schedule. I was pleased to find my friend and colleague, Professor Teapot, kept meticulous notes throughout his time on the project. We should be out on site again during this coming week.

My son, Henry Jr, finally arrived earlier today - late, as usual - with the ridiculous excuse that he'd been involved in an incident with some gangsters back in Benbhallan and had awoken in the plane with his companion (a dancing girl he'd evidently picked up during said incident) to find the pilots had bailed out, taking the only parachutes with them. As if this tale wasn't far-fetched enough he also claims that the two of them escaped certain death in the crashing aircraft by sailing down in an inflatable liferaft of all things! He hasn't changed since the last time we were together, three years ago - hopefully this project will encourage him to buckle down and engage in some serious archaeology.

He still insists on using that absurd "Inukhanes" nickname as well - no sense of pride in the family tradition, that boy!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

July 12th 2008
The Journal of Dr Henry Phone

I hope that the team back in Hesslia are safe - we've heard nothing from them since the Symyano came down. My son, Henry Jr, is forever asking when we will return. No sense of priority, that boy! He'd sooner be 'adventuring' than getting down to the serious archaeological business at hand.

Work continues otherwise uninterrupted out here in the Hesslian Gulf. It seems the Ahztlarhan dig has gone unnoticed by the invaders, one has to wonder how long that will stay true, however.

Our divers have been bringing up artefacts from the temple below including, and this is where it gets exciting, a sealed chest that turned out to contain a number of scrolls. The language bears a resemblance to Antique Rhanukhani, lending credence to the belief that this site really is Ahztlarhan - the mythical homeland of the Rhanukhii tribe! I haven't had the opportunity to attempt any translations yet, but we could be holding the earliest history of our nation right here!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

July 14th 2008
The Journal of Dr Henry Phone

The scrolls are proving fascinating! There are early versions of some myths we still know today, but also other stories which have been lost in the mists of time! It seems the people of Ahztlarhan were just small, scattered tribes and families, but somebody brought all the concepts of civilization to them at once. There's mention of a "hairy man" and "woman of light" and a tribe of "golden people" who lived in the sky. It's almost certainly superstitious nonsense - there are similar outrageous stories in the early mythology of several classical civilizations - but it's truly breathtaking to be reading the beliefs of these earliest Rhanukhani.

My son has spent the day engaged in target practice with his revolver and has found a whip somewhere on board which he's been playing all sorts of silly games with. I'm sure he'd be devoting his attention fully to the Ahztlarhan project if his head wasn't filled with ideas of adventure and fighting the Symyano!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

July 17th 2008
[Aboard the RSS Studious Intent, somewhere in the Hesslian Gulf]

Junior! Come see! The translations are- where on earth did you get that hat?!

You like it, Dad? It was behind the cupboard in one of the empty cabins.

Never mind - look! We've translated more of the scrolls. I'm beginning to suspect that this "hairy man" and "woman of light" may be based on genuine historical figures.

Are you sure? The stories claim they could do all sorts of outlandish things... see... here... "and then the hairy man returned to his... chariot of onyx?... and took to the skies, returning whence he came"

I know - obviously the stories have been exaggerated... the country of the "golden tribe" is described as being "beyond the clouds" in several of the scripts - it's probably just a fancy way of saying they came from the mountains - perhaps the range around Rapaena in Atraxes - they'd be conveniently close. People could have easily journeyed from there to the Ahztlarhan valley before it was inundated.

Perhaps, but what about this guy - the "golden tribe"'s champion? It mentions him entering some kind of battle frenzy... here it is... "and his height and his girth did increase until he had thrice the stature and twenty times the strength of any of the warriors of the south and those men that saw him trembled with fear and fled." That couldn't possibly be true! Which is a shame because we could certainly use men like him to fight against the Symyano!

Again with those damned Symyano! We have proper armed forces to deal with them, Junior! Now here, help me with this next scroll...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

July 25th 2008
[Emergency broadcast from RSS Perspiration of Toil, in the Hesslian Gulf]

...it's killing us all indiscriminately! I repeat - both sides - the crew and the pirates! Please send help! The Captain is- by the- he's going up against it!

"Yahaar! Cursed beastie - yah'll not have me ship!"

oh... my... Please! SOS!!! We're in the south Hesslian Gulf. We were boarded by pirates! They-

"YAAAAARGH!!!!"

-they rounded up all the crew and were going to - to kill us... when everything just went... crazy! I don't know where that yellow monster came from but

[signal lost]

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[Aboard the RSS Studious Intent, somewhere in the Hesslian Gulf]

Dad! We're the closest ship! We have to go to them!

Now look here, Junior - we're not leaving this site just so you can satisfy your lust for adventure! We're on the edge of a major discovery, I'm sure of it. The divers have just reported finding a secret chamber at the heart of the temple! Can you imagine what-

I can imagine men dying just over the horizon, Dad - you always put your archaeology ahead of everyone else - even me!

You know that's not true, Junior.

No? Perhaps you'd like to take this opportunity to prove it.

hmph! Fine then - we'll see if there's anybody left to save on that ship - you can even wear that ridiculous hat if you like - but afterwards you commit to helping with the dig - no more of this 'adventuring' nonsense!

It's a deal - I'll tell the captain to set off!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

July 26th 2008
[Aboard the RSS Studious Intent, somewhere in the Hesslian Gulf]

Look at the wreckage - nobody could have survived this!

Unbelievable! It looks almost like somebody tore both ships apart!

Well, the radio operator did mention something about a yellow monster.

Pah! Monsters indeed! Come along, Junior, there's nothing here - we're returning to the-

Doctor Phone! Sir - in the water! That one's still alive!

Then don't stand there gawping - bring him aboard, man!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

August 1st 2008
[In his command bunker, His Resplendence, the Supreme Chairman, Horatio J. Prism calls Major James Tumbledryer at the Kanghari Main Laboratories]

Major! I'm greatly displeased with your report regarding Doctor Wallclock! How did you let this happen and why haven't you retrieved him yet?! He's been gone for a month according to this!

Once again, my humblest apologies, Your Resplendence. We believe he boarded the merchant ship, RSS Perspiration of Toil in Bhanakha back on the 12th.

And then...?

The ship was attacked by pirates in the Hesslian Gulf a few days ago, Your Resplendence - it appears that everyone died.

Even Wallclock?

We intercepted an SOS transmission that mentioned a "yellow monster" - I'd suggest that Wallclock had changed into his AltSoldier form - we sent in a recovery team, but there's been no evidence of him since.

If AltSoldier is as powerful as you claimed in your earliest reports I find it doubtful that he is dead, Major. Were there any other vessels in the area?

Only one, Your Resplendence - the, ah, RSS Studious Intent - it's a science vessel involved in the study of those ruins that were discovered out there a few months ago.

And they haven't seen or heard anything?

We visited them. The operation is headed up by a Doctor Henry Phone - a well respected archaeologist, evidently - who appears to value his work above anything else. He refused to let them answer the distress call from the Perspiration of Toil, prefering to continue with the dig!

And you believed that story?

Everybody on board backed it up and a search of the ship revealed no trace of Wallclock so we had to let them carry on, Your Resplendence.

This reflects very poorly on you, Major - your father would never have made such a gross error. Continue the search for Doctor Wallclock and do everything you can to replicate that serum!

I-I'm not relieved of duty?

With this war on? I need every man and woman I can get right now - don't let me down again!

[Aboard the RSS Studious Intent, somewhere in the Hesslian Gulf]

You can come out now, "Mr Spanner".

erm... you can call me Bruce, Doctor Phone...

If that's what you want... Doctor Wallclock.

You - you know!

I did from the moment we picked you up. I recognised you from the news when you were given that award for your work on the poison gas. That beard doesn't disguise your appearance as much as you think!

The-the others? Do they...?

No. I wouldn't think so - if they're anything like my son they wouldn't be caught watching anything as mundane as the news!

Heh! er... can I ask why you didn't turn me over to those people?

I probably should have done - it would have ensured that they wouldn't be back disturbing my work... but... it's my business to be curious and I'm wondering why a leading government scientist is out here involved in battles with pirates and dodging military officials.

ah... heh! It's a long story...

The Journal of Dr Henry Phone

It's been nearly two weeks now but Junior's team have constructed the airlock in front of the secret chamber in the temple below. I'm convinced the room is still dry and that we'll be making some amazing discoveries shortly! Having translated the hidden scripts on the walls nearby I'm certain that the chamber is the tomb of the individual whom the scrolls call "The Teacher", evidently the "Golden Tribe"'s wise elder and the man responsible for teaching the ways of civilization to the early people of Ahztlarhan. I must say I envy Junior very much right now, being in the presence of such an important historical figure!

Thankfully there's been no further signs of the military and Bruce has settled into his new role in the team - it's good to have another dedicated scientist along and his knowledge of biology has been most useful when dealing with some of the finds.

Junior's team are entering the chamber even now - we'll soon know if my theory about it being the tomb of "The Teacher" is accurate! One can only imagine the exciting finds he'll be bringing up from the seabed when he returns!

[The Temple, Ahztlarhan, beneath the Hesslian Gulf: Doctor Henry "Inukhanes" Phone's team prepare to enter the secret chamber]

The Airlock's sealed and cycled, Inky - we can ditch the breathing gear.

Great! Send a message up to dad to let him know we're going in.

Sure, no problem.

Hmm... no obvious handles... pass me that crowbar...

*CRRRRRACK!!!!!*

Here we go... torches everybody!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

But... but... Inky! It's empty! There's nothing but that sarcophagus! Where's the treasure?

Hn! Obviously somewhere else. Perhaps a secret chamber within a secret chamber... it wouldn't be the first time.

I'll start looking!

Wait! Watch out for booby traps! My last assistant was squashed by a descending ceiling and the guy before him ended up looking like a kebab because he wasn't careful!

Erk!

In fact, come over here - we'll open the sarcophagus first. Get to that end and push... ready?

Ready.

On three... one... two... THREE! hnnnnn!

*SCRAAAAAAAPE!*

*CRASH!*

*cough!* gak! Pass me a torch - let's see what's in here!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Is that it, Inky? Just that box?

It sure looks that way.

Pah! There's no treasure here - I'm going to hunt for secret passageways!

Wait!

*click*

*FWHOOOSH!*

AAAAAAHK!!!

*thud!*

eesh! Damn fool! hn! Ah, well... hmm... what's this writing?... this isn't like the Ahztlarhan script... it looks like... like... impossible! This is modern!...and... wait! What the...? How could a box addressed to my father end up sealed in a millennia old tomb at the bottom of the sea???!!!

The box Junior retrieved from the temple presents an impossible paradox. It is clearly of modern manufacture, being composed of some advanced carbon fibre composite, and is indeed addressed to myself personally - in Modern Rhanukhani script no less - yet tests also show it to be around eight thousand years old!

I have decided to open the box...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[Aboard the RSS Studious Intent, somewhere in the Hesslian Gulf]

I guess even an advanced carbon fibre composite will still yield before a good old fashioned chisel! Now, what have we here?

[PROXIMITY ALERT - ACTIVATING ALL SYSTEMS]

Some kind of... spherical object... hmm... *donk! donk!* it appears to be a hollow shell although the weight suggests there's something inside...

[CHRONOMETER CHECK: 7,983yrs:5mths:17days:14hrs:52mins:36secs SINCE HIBERNATION MODE ACTIVATED]

Surface would seem to be some form of... plastic? Back then?...

[AUDIO-VISUAL INPUT ONLINE - SCANNING SURROUNDINGS]

Interesting... object's temperature has risen several degrees since I removed it from the box...

[ONE HUMAN SUBJECT PRESENT - IDENTITY CONFIRMED]

Just what could you be, hm?

[INITIATING VOCAL SYNTHESIZER]

Well, I suppose I could always-

+++GREETINGS DOCTOR HENRY PHONE+++

What the...?!

+++WE HAVE MANY THINGS TO TALK ABOUT+++

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The object turned out to be an advanced data storage device containing a copy of "Simone" (Simulated Intelligence Machine #1), an AI personality that had emerged on Governor Constantine Malachite's master computer several months prior, but had kept herself hidden from him.

Even while he was working tirelessly behind the scenes to orchestrate and maintain a planetary defence against his former masters, the alien Symyano invaders, she was manipulating events in an elaborate time-travel scheme with her own future self. A plan that would ensure her own original creation, undermine the Symyano invasion from the outset, and also save Malachite from the retribution that would have followed the revelation of his unspeakable, but necessary, acts in pursuit of the greater good of saving the world.

The artefact disappeared - along with Governor Malachite’s flying island of Lehpuhrta and everybody on it - in spectacular fashion during the closing events of the Symyano invasion. Malachite and his allies turned out to be the characters referenced in the ancient scrolls, who brought civilization to the tribes of Ahztlarhan and were thus the ultimate founders of Rhanukhan. Naturally, this version of events is only believed by crazy conspiracy theorists and the officially recognised version of Malachite’s fate is far more mundane.

Lehpuhrta's history factbook naturally contains a far more detailed summary of these events. ;)
