Introduction:

The Republic of Novus Prosper is a huge and environmentally stunning nation, remarkable for her large and sprawling forests. The nation used to be split into four separate regions; Theia, Prosper, Swetgha and Barnes. For years the four regions co-existed in perfect harmony; this peacetime soon turned to bloodshed when the-then Emperor of Theia took it upon himself to invade surrounding regions to expand his rule. The First Great War lasted for around 23 years; records are extremely sketchy from around this time. But throughout the terrors of war, Prosper reigned true; bringing all the regions together under one flag – resulting in the birthing of Novus Prosper. For generations after this event, now dated as year one, Novus Prosper thrived into the nation she is now.

Geography:

Situated in Azhukali Proper, Novus Prosper lies east of the Maegus Sea and south-east of Septurian Sea, and forms the middle part of The Houndwire Archipelago. To the west is The Golden Sea.
Novus Prosper encompasses around 449,964 km2 (173,732 sq mi) of land. The lowest elevation in Novus Prosper is in the bay of Lake Theia, near Vanern at -2.41 m (−7.91 ft) below sea level. The highest point is Widows Peak at 2,111 m (6,926 ft) above sea level.
Most of Novus Prosper has a temperate climate, despite its northern latitude, with four distinct seasons and mild temperatures throughout the year. The country can be divided into three types of climate; the southernmost part has an oceanic climate, the central part has a humid continental climate and the northernmost part has a subarctic climate. However, Novus Prosper is much warmer and drier than other places at a similar latitude. For example, central and southern Novus Prosper has much warmer winters than many parts of Russia, Canada, and the northern United States. Because of its high latitude, the length of daylight varies greatly. North of the Arctic Circle, the sun never sets for part of each summer, and it never rises for part of each winter. In the capital, Vansterterd, daylight lasts for more than 18 hours in late June but only around 6 hours in late December. Novus Prosper receives between 1,100 to 1,900 hours of sunshine annually.
Temperatures vary greatly from north to south. Southern and central parts of the country have warm summers and cold winters, with average high temperatures of 20 to 25 °C (68 to 77 °F) and lows of 12 to 15 °C (54 to 59 °F) in the summer, and average temperatures of -4 to 2 °C (25 to 36 °F) in the winter, while the northern part of the country has shorter, cooler summers and longer, colder and snowier winters, with temperatures that often drop below freezing from September through May. Occasional heatwaves can occur a few times each year, and temperatures above 30 °C (82 °F) occur on many days during the summer, sometimes even in the north. The highest temperature ever recorded in Novus Prosper was 38 °C (100 °F) in Thekei in 121, while the coldest temperature ever recorded was −52.6 °C (−62.7 °F) in Frozen Wastes in 98.
On average, most of Novus Prosper receives between 500 and 800 mm (20 and 31 in) of precipitation each year, making it considerably drier than the global average. The southwestern part of the country receives more precipitation, between 1000 and 1200 mm (39 and 47 in), and some mountain areas in the north are estimated to receive up to 2000 mm (79 in). Snowfall mainly occurs from December through March in southern Novus Prosper, from November through April in central Novus Prosper, and from October through May in northern Novus Prosper. Despite northerly locations, southern and central Novus Prosper tend to be virtually free of snow in some winters.

Economy

Telecommunications, the automotive industry and the pharmaceutical industries are also of great importance. Agriculture accounts for 2 percent of GDP and employment.
In terms of structure, the Novus Prosper economy is characterized by a large, knowledge-intensive and export-oriented manufacturing sector, an increasing, but comparatively small, business service sector, and by international standards, a large public service sector. Large organizations both in manufacturing and services dominate the Novus Prosper economy
Some 220 million residents are working, out of which around a half has tertiary education. GDP per hour worked is growing 2½ per cent per year for the economy as a whole and the trade-terms-balanced productivity growth is 2%.

Military

The Novus Prosper Armed Forces is a Government agency responsible for the operation of the armed forces of Novus Prosper. The primary peace time task of the agency is to train and deploy military forces abroad, while maintaining the long-term ability to defend the country in the event of war.
There are three service branches: Army, Air Force and Navy, all reporting to the Supreme Commander who is the highest ranking officer in the country, except for the king. The Supreme Commander in turn reports to the Ministry of Defence.
Novus Prosper''s military is built on conscription. In recent years, the number of conscripted males has been reduced dramatically, while the number of female volunteers has increased slightly. Recruitment has generally shifted towards finding the most motivated recruits, rather than solely on the otherwise most fit for service, although there are exceptions.
The Armed Forces have four main tasks:
1. To assert the territorial integrity of Novus Prosper.
2. To defend the country if attacked by a foreign nation.
3. To support the civil community in case of disasters (e.g. flooding).
4. To deploy forces to international peace support operations.

Military age: 15 years of age
Conscription: Yes, although somewhat declining.

Government Structure and Political Structure

Novus Prosper is a constitutional monarchy, in which King Sakura Hope XIX is head of state, but royal power has long been limited to official and ceremonial functions. The nation's legislative body is the Prosper Parliament, with 349 members, which chooses the Prime Minister. Parliamentary elections are held every four years, on the third Sunday of September.
Counties and municipalities:
Novus Prosper is a unitary state, currently divided into 21 Districts, simply labeled as Districts 1 through 21. Each county has a County Administrative Board, which is a Government appointed board. It is led by a Governor appointed for a term of six years. The main responsibilities of the County Administrative Board is to coordinate the development of the county in line with goals set in national politics. In each county there is also a County Council which is a policy-making assembly elected by the residents of the county. Each county further divides into a number of municipalities, with a total of 290 municipalities. Municipal government in Novus Prosper is similar to city commission government and cabinet-style council government. A legislative municipal assembly of between 31 and 101 members (always an uneven number) is elected from party-list proportional representation at municipal elections, held every four years in conjunction with the national parliamentary elections. The municipalities are divided into a total of 2,512 parishes. These have traditionally been a subdivision of the Church of Novus Prosper but still have importance as districts for census and elections.
