New rule regarding colonies: (effective 12/18/2016): Find out how many days you have been in APSIA (it should be the "Residency" stat on your nation page.) Then, take that number and multiply it by 1,000,000. Then, Google the population of the real-world area you are taking as a colony and if their population is bigger than your Residency days x 1,000,000, you cannot take that area as a colony yet. Also, it is generally a nice rule of thumb to not colonize a "developed" country in real life. For instance, don't colonize France.
