Progressive Socialism

History
Progressive Socialism arose in the late Nineteenth Century, pioneered by the lawyer L. H. T. Castor Didacus who published the work Progressive Socialism: An Ideology for the Future in 1874. In the late 19th Century, the Ardokian Republic had grown corrupt and weak, and the Aanglandians has taken the opportunity to invade the south-western corner of the continent. Over the years, Progressive Socialism had grown extraordinarily popular with Intelligentsia, the military, and ordinary citizens; who saw it as a way to improve their nation on a path of eternal progress. On the 4th of February 1879 (The 4th of February Coup), soldiers loyal to the Progressive Socialist Labour Party stormed the Republican Senate, arrested the senators, and disbanded it. The Party took control over the government, and united the entire nation against the Aanglandian invaders. From 1880 until 1892, the Seventh Ardokian-Aanglandian War was fought, which ended with the Aanglandians being driven out of the Ardokian Continent. Until his death in 1926, L. H. T. Castor Didacus, transformed Ardoki into a new modern state called the Unified Progressive Empire. Education was made universal, compulsory until tertiary and free for every student. Healthcare was made freely available for all, along with vastly improved working conditions. The military was expanded and modernised, along with the growing economy. In 1928, the Unified Progressive Empire invaded Aanglandia and occupied it as a puppet state, improving the lives of millions of Aanglandians. In the present days, the Unified Progressive Empire is one of the wealthiest and most developed countries in the world, and is a beacon of progress and advancement for the entire human species.
Theory
Political
- Progressive Socialism supports the Theory of Democratic Collectivism, which states that all the people should be part of a single ruling organisation (e.g. the Progressive Socialist Labour Party) subscribed to Progressive Socialism. Such an organisation would internally operate as a democracy, allowing debates and disagreements on the points of Progressive Socialism. It is strongly encouraged that all citizens join the Party.
- A pyramid structure of democratically elected and selected Party Congresses will exist, and will be responsible for electing the Consular Council (the Executive).
- The government will be run in accordance with Progressive Socialism.
- Each member of the Party has an equal vote.
- Any member of the Party may stand for election to a Party Congress, and the government.
- The Judiciary and Legislature will remain separate from each other and the Executive.
- The government shall abide by the Doctrine of Eternal Progress, changing and adapting when necessary to progress.
- There will be a guarantee of freedom of opinion and freedom of speech, however conservatism and reactionaryism will be eliminated in favour of progressivism.
Social
- Progressive social policies will be adopted. As society progresses, so should the laws.
- Full equality for all; regardless of race, sex, gender, sexuality, disability, or any other perceived difference.
- Rationalism, Scientism and Atheism shall be encouraged by the state.
- Religion will be eliminated, as it is an obstacle to progress.
- Progress is the natural state of humanity. Conservatism, reactionaryism and traditionalism must be eradicated.
Economic
- Key sectors (natural resources, utilities (e.g. gas, electricity, water), infrastructure (telecommunications, roads, utilities, etcetera), armaments) of the economy will be under state ownership and control, for the benefit of all.
- Essential services (healthcare, education, police, ambulance services, fire services) will be under state control, and freely available to all.
- State corporations will exist in the free market (e.g. a state-owned bank, insurance conglomerate, postal service, telecommunications conglomerate).
- A minimum wage will exist, adjusted for inflation and suitable for a comfortable standard of living.
- Profit-sharing and Gins-sharing programs will exist in all businesses, and to at least a set standard.
- Extensive benefits must be ensured by all employers.
- An employees front and an employers front will be established, comprising every employee and employer union. Membership is compulsory, and these organisations will work with the government.
