CHAPTER ONE: RIGHT OF DESTINY

While Christianity shall dominate the path and legal doctrines of the Kingdom, it shall be illegal for any institution of any kind to compel any creature to worship or deny their religion, its God, god, or gods, or even a belief in the lack thereof.

All creatures in TurtleShroom shall have the fundamental ability to enter and exit any faith for any reason their conscience allows, to follow and worship any god, gods, or idol of their choosing, or to abstain from and deny a Supreme Being altogether.

No law shall affect the ability of a creature in TurtleShroom from choosing their faith and determining their destiny in the mortal plane and the afterlife.
TurtleShroom shall enforce nothing coercing any man to follow or not follow any religion, or lack thereof, nor shall it excessively entangle itself in its affairs.

To summarize the major laws:

• Freedom of religious practice is allowed as long as no harm comes to an individual because of it, and no violent ideas are advocated in their doctrine.

• Religions have the right to establish their own schools (under R-track regulations, of course. Even Stalari has to comply with those), and the right to freedom from taxation (for religious institutions, not individual religious people), PROVIDED THAT religions follow through with their responsibility of public welfare.
• Religions that do not follow the terms of the public welfare statute may still be practiced, but those institutions lose their tax-exempt status.
• The public welfare statute basically dictates that since religious institutions all claim to exist and operate for the benefit/salvation of the people, they must show significant work in addressing the public welfare of the populace, regardless of the religious affiliations of those that seek their aide. Programs by religious organizations that reduce homelessness, re-train/educate people in need of education for a job, care for the sick, or alleviate poverty in the underprivileged are some of the accepted ways in which an organization can show that it is following that statute. They must furnish the documentation every year to remain tax-exempt.
• Freedom of religion is secondary to non-discrimination law. If a religion discriminates against someone for their sex, race, or sexual orientation, it could well stand to lose its freedom to practice within Nui-ta. This has already happened with more extreme branches of religions in Nui-ta, including Septimism and Stalari.
