What is the status of video games in your nation?

They're legal but not very popular.

Are they rated? Are certain games censored or banned?

There are ratings of G (general), T (teen), M (mature). Some games with excessive violence like Call of Duty are banned.

Is the gaming industry (sales of video games, sales by tournaments, festivals, etc) popular here?

Not really.

How about consoles/handhelds? What kind of consoles/handhelds are available in your nation?

Nintendo (DS, 3DS, Wii, etc.), Playstation (PS1, PS2, PS3, etc.), XBOX, etc.

What is the status of video games in your nation?
Video games made by the government are very popular in the Glorious Republic of Uruguay.

Are they rated? Are certain games censored or banned?
All video games must be in Spanish. Video games that are considered anti-communist or counterrevolutionary are banned. There are no restrictions on sex, drugs, or swearing, but games are assigned a "violence level" from 0 to 5. There is also an import ban on all products from the United States, including video games.

Is the gaming industry (sales of video games, sales by tournaments, festivals, etc) popular here?
There is no gaming industry in the Glorious Republic of Uruguay. Only the government produces video games. Foreign video games are pirated versions distributed publicly on the internet (we have no copyright laws, and private corporations are not allowed).

How about consoles/handhelds? What kind of consoles/handhelds are available in your nation?
Tecnologías Numbermatic, the state-owned electronics manufacturer, produces a video game console called the Cubo. There are PC games and mobile games for the Numbermatic Touch, a handheld calculator/media player/gaming device.
Every model of Numbermatic Touch also has a built-in Nintendo emulator to play NES and SNES games.
Other consoles and handhelds are only available by importing them into the nation.

What is the status of video games in your nation?
Derngeans enjoy video gaming as part of their lives.

Are they rated? Are certain games censored or banned?
The Media Rating Association (MRA) is responsible for the rating of video games.
The MRA uses the following system:
ALL: Suitable for all audiences.
7: Recommended for ages 7 and up.
12: Recommended for ages 12 and up.
15: Not recommended for under 15s.
17: Not recommended for under 17s. Children who wish to purchase these games must receive parental consent.
19: Not for sale to under 19s. Severe penalties apply if a retailer is caught selling a 19-rated game to a minor.
R: Rejected. Banned in the Disputed Territories of Derngea.

Is the gaming industry (sales of video games, sales by tournaments, festivals, etc) popular here?
The video gaming industry in Derngea is thriving! With virtually every major shopping street/mall having at least one gaming/electronics store, it's hard to ignore its massive outreach.
In addition, the PaRappa The Rapper series of PlayStation games received overwhelmingly positive attention in Derngea, to such an extent that the bullfrog symbol on PaRappa's hat actually ended up on Derngea's national flag! Walk into any Derngean's house (not without being invited, of course), and one of the first things you'll likely see is a teen sitting on the sofa playing PaRappa The Rapper. If not, there will likely be a copy of PaRappa sitting alongside their other games.

How about consoles/handhelds? What kind of consoles/handhelds are available in your nation?
Sony is making billions out of its PlayStation line in Derngea, but the same can't be said for Microsoft's Xbox line. Nintendo withdrew from the market in 2011 after being slammed by Derngeans who believed that the Wii was far inferior to the PS3/X360.
PS4s and Xbox Ones are available in Derngea, but they are proving very unpopular as PS3s and Xbox 360s continue to fly off the shelves.
Handhelds are also very unpopular, as Derngeans often perform impromptu meditation exercises when walking from place to place.

Video games are a very popular pastime in the Anti-State as is a form of comedy known as 'let's playing' where people make videos about them playing games with the gaming footage, the commentary and occasionally the recorder's face. It is hilarious. Many kinds of video games are popular. Some people enjoy shooters, other rpgs, strategy games, puzzles, platformers and especially games which were made art. Games aren't really age-rated, but possibly offensive content is usually warned about. Censorship or prohibition is not a practice we Autarchs condone. Games are a form of free expression just like any art and fiction. The industry itself is small due to most people pirating games but it gets by reasonably well. We have a special gaming device known as the UltimaSphere, which can crudely be described as a 'virtual reality hamster ball'. It enables the player to experience the in-game world extremely immersed. You need a PC or a console to run it, of course.

Video games are only mildly popular here. People are more focused on the struggle between the proletariat and the bourgeoisie. There is no rating system as we are very liberal here. Only games that go against the state are banned. All consoles are available here.

Video games aren't allowed in our country! People must work, not play.

Edit: Birkenauans who have access to a computer can buy games to play. Internet is banned, however.

What is the status of video games in your nation? Legal, as long as they are free to play and free to win.

Are they rated? Are certain games censored or banned? We restrict which games minors can play. Games which were designed with the intent of making money, rather than providing a social experience for one's fellow men and women are banned and cannot be purchased with Credits, as are games that encourage selfishness.

Is the gaming industry (sales of video games, sales by tournaments, festivals, etc) popular here? We don't permit the gaming industry to operate within our community due to the toxic values that they promote.

How about consoles/handhelds? What kind of consoles/handhelds are available in your nation? We do not utilize dedicated gaming hardware, as it is wasteful. PC and phone gaming are both popular, though.

The most popular games in Protectoria are MMOs because they provide a social atmosphere where players work together toward a common goal. Like other forms of the arts in Protectoria, gaming is non-commercial. Game creators may create games in their free time and fans may get together and buy out a creator's obligation to work in order to permit him/her to have more time to dedicate to their art. Popular games tend to explicitly promote our core values of duty, teamwork and self-sacrifice toward the common good.

Video games are legal, though individual games, after a review of their content may be restricted to some age groups. While the gaming industry has been slow to start up in Trelatche, many smaller firms, supported by larger technology companies such as Trelatche Computing DevelopmentTM, have successfully taken a foothold in the industry. National tournaments are independently held by their respective publishers.

What is the status of video games in your nation? Legal and popular.

Are they rated? Are certain games censored or banned? Games are rated based on how likely they are to affect the player negatively. Games set during modern times featuring crime, violence or war are rated for a much older audience than a game with similar themes in the future or Middle Ages. Regardless, any large amounts of violence or sexual content are rated for adults only or even censored in some games involving the latter.

Is the gaming industry (sales of video games, sales by tournaments, festivals, etc) popular here? ...somewhat. Tournaments are few since online gaming did not take off much in the Empire, as most consoles either double as an Internet browser or have limited online matches.

How about consoles/handhelds? What kind of consoles/handhelds are available in your nation? The Yontachi BWPEG-2, or Box Which Plays Video Games 2, is highly popular, as is the handheld PBFEG (Portable Box For Electronic Games). There is also the Koiwai 12, a 12-bit system that runs entirely on Koiwai Cola and costs so little to produce that it makes an oddly large profit.
I STILL need a new signature.

What is the status of video games in your nation?

Extremely popular. Over 60% of the population would be gaming at home during cooldown quotas (times in a day where one can relax, socialize and not work) if they're not watching parody videos or animated porn.

Are they rated? Are certain games censored or banned?

No. Cyborgs and AIs don't really need to rate games, since running a program is all that simple. Baseliners on the other hand have unofficial community ratings but these have almost no influence among the wider masses.

Is the gaming industry (sales of video games, sales by tournaments, festivals, etc) popular here?

Extremely popular. Video games can be exchanged for a decent amount of LDU, making people often seeing them as a good reward for hard work. Tournaments happen every day whether official or unofficial, but there has been no record of "festivals" around considering most Singaporeans hesitate going out.

How about consoles/handhelds? What kind of consoles/handhelds are available in your nation?

People only play games on their PC.

What is the status of video games in your nation?

A major component of the entertainment industry and very popular overall.

Are they rated? Are certain games censored or banned?

They use a three-pronged rating system of 'Kids,' 'Teens,' and 'Adults.' Kids games are safe for kids and up, teens for teens and up, and so on. In order to buy an Adults rated game, you must be 17 or older and have identification proof, though obviously minors are still allowed to play Adults-rated games; it's up to the parents what is and isn't allowed. The only way games can be censored or banned is if they show legitimate illegal content, for example CP, which of course has never been recorded to date.

Is the gaming industry (sales of video games, sales by tournaments, festivals, etc) popular here?

Yes, it is; it generates over 45 billion creds in revenue yearly, and about 68% of denizens play video games. Several major events and festivities based around gaming happen annually in major cities.

How about consoles/handhelds? What kind of consoles/handhelds are available in your nation?

The GameSphere, a next-generation, fully customizable device is the most major gaming system used in Deanson. In polls, the main reason for purchasing a Gamesphere was, "It's spherical. SPHERICAL!"

Video Games in Your Nation

Postby Parhe » Tue Jul 21, 2015 10:20 pm

What is the status of video games in your nation?
Legal, popular, largely for those seventy and younger.

Are they rated? Are certain games censored or banned?
Video games are not censored or banned. Games are rated into two groups, those targeted for children and those otherwise.

Is the gaming industry (sales of video games, sales by tournaments, festivals, etc) popular here?
Very much so. Think of South Korea times ten on a per capita basis XD. E-Gaming has even been discussed to be funded by the government in order raise funds.

How about consoles/handhelds? What kind of consoles/handhelds are available in your nation?
Whatever people are willing to sell. The more there is to buy the more we will collect.

1=They are legal, and it is mandatory to own at least one console with four games by age 12.
2=Few are censored or banned, but are examined carefully, and given a rating based on the content. Here is the rating system:
C=Under 6
G=Over 6
A=Over 10
M=Over 13
R=Over 15
X=Over 18
In the 40-year history of Mattantian video games, only 7 games were banned. No consoles were banned, however.
3=100% of our population hails video gaming.
4=All of them.
