New Edomite National Elections Poll

Postby New Edom » Sun Mar 22, 2015 5:49 pm

The New Edomite National Elections are about to be held. In accordance with the Constitution, a Chamber of Deputies will be elected in districts across the country, which will be responsible for legislation regarding the government's budget and national laws. Elections will be partly supervised by Democratic Verification LLC, a neutral company which helps countries establish fair voting processes, and by international observers.

Political Parties

Leaders: Sarah Carmel
Background: Former Minister of Justice, Sarah Carmel has until recently also served as Ambassador to the Republic of Adiron. She is 39 years old, is married to Dr. Stephen Carmel, former conductor of the Fineberg Philharmonic Orchestra and currently a private composer, focusing mostly on soundtracks. They have two children, a son Gareth and a daughter Rayanne.

Sarah Carmel is known to be tough and blunt in spite of being a short woman. She is descended from a famous President of the Council, and renounced her titles to join the Free Congress. She is a fanatical Edenist. Sarah Carmel is a good friend to former Presidents Finnhald and Touchstone.)

General Policies: Sarah Carmel emphasized the need for the Edomite nation to do things the Edomite way. She laid out a different recovery plan for troubled areas like Peregrino and northern Bara, and an over-all program of incremental upgrades to the nation's water supply and hydroelectric power generators. There would be a rational forest management plan and upgrades to schools and public buildings. There would be educational reform and a huge push for health and drug-awareness education. There would be some road improvements, but no major construction of new roads, because she vowed to outlaw private cars and emphasize purchasing or building more trains for inter-city travel and freight. She argued passionately to keep New Edom's justice system intact and rejected the idea of building prisons or having entirely non-ecclesiastic judges.

In matters of defense, Sarah Carmel proposed scaling back the massive build ups of the Touchstone and Pahath-Moab governments. Overseas commitments would have a time limit on them, protectorates and arrangements such as with Callaban or the CPO being exceptions. Damoclea and Delvian States would have a limit on military involvement though alliances would be maintained.

She proposed recognition of Gloria Regis' independence following negotiation, not national elections, and that they could obtain their navy by purchase, the mutineers granted 'Christian clemency'. "We are, i think, jointly disapproving of Monarchist bullying" she said with a grin.

While she approved of some economic changes to the country, she wanted to remove interest rates, avoid the prospect of cash crops, which she accused Count Lalery as discreetly encouraging through the deal he had made with the companies from Callaban, and yet promised to keep the Compulsory Nudity Act off the books--instead promoting the idea of healthy Christian nudism as a public awareness campaign.

In Foreign Policy, she proposed that she would support the Shrailleeni Empire in its terms for recognition of Unified Macureus, would pursue detente and ultimate peace with Deadora following a more concrete agreement about Dengali and Magna Lacuna.

Leader: Dr. Marius Campion.
Background: Dr. Campion was born in the city of Reme in the Province of Etruria Majora. He was an exceptional student, attending Saint Luke's Gentleman's Academy. Falling just short of valedictorian, he was accepted into the political science department at Fineberg University. As soon as he became of age, he registered with the Wisdom Party before it joined with and took over the Monarchist Party during the Touchstone government. . He graduated Fineberg suma cum laude and began working for Rufus Cotta, prominant Wisdom Party member and eventual Deputy Governor of Etruria Majora. Although Cotta was at the time no more than a rising star, Campion helped lay the foundation for his success. After ten years under Cotta, Campion was appointed Ethnarch of Dundabend in the Province of Raith Immel, a scattered population of mostly uneducated and tribal people, Fielder was able to promote technology and free education. After a mere term, he was elected Wisdom Party leader. He maintained the ideals that the party stood for and stood strong on each and every issue. After two terms, he stepped down with the expressed intent of wanting to work on joining the Wisdom Party to the Monarchist Party.

A life long admirer of the late King James II and the Archbishop William Laudner, he has stated an intent to help expand upon their legacy in furthering national unity, pride and culture with a modern perspective.

Policies: Most Monarchists are now part of the National Wisdom Party.

Economic views include agreeing with free trade and investment by international corporations as well as national trade. Quality assurance is agreed with. The party believes in use of nationalized utilities on a purely pragmatic basis. A competitive banking system is preferred over a national banking system.

Socially the party is dubious about the importance of gender equality but agrees with racial and age equality. It is conservative where religious involvement in politics is concerned—accepting tax free status of churches but ambivalent otherwise. Merit is clearly supported by strong support for prominent women such as the Heir, Princess Jocasta, Lieutenant-General Felicity Romain's appointment as commander of the important IX Army Corps, and so on.

Regarding civil liberties and political freedoms, the party is very conservative, agreeing with political expression, artistic expression and The party expresses the view that marriage should be between one man and one women, and divorce should only be allowed when one spouse was unfaithful to the other. The party believes in keeping the necessity of requiring travel papers to move around internally. Education is preferably free for this party.

Leader: Livia Barberina
Background: Livia Barberina is a revolutionary leader of a political movement determined to gain freedom for the islands on which it is based, Gloria Regis. She started out as a folk musician but became a popular local politician striving for women's rights and freedoms. Elected Deputy Premier during a brief period of political strength in which the Feminist Collective Party united with the Marxist Party of Gloria Regis, she had to disappear following a military clampdown of the islands in which her party leadership was accused of assassinating the Marxist leader Nelson Smith.

Her party has generally been exonerated of the crime. She is known to be a moderate radical Feminist.

Politics: The following specific aims:
- abolish human trafficking
- raise women's salaries
- safety and freedom from violence of all kinds
- examination of discrimination and removal of it from all walks of life
- civil, urban and domestic planning to favor women's needs and conditions
- family allowance and care for women
- encouragement of higher education for women
- encourage humanizing views of LGBT community
- abolition of religious courts
- general legal reform to protect women and children in dysfunctional relationships

As far as economics goes it supports nationalized trade, emissions control and quality control; it disapproves of free trade and international corporations. While it agrees with competitive banking systems it does so under the structure of a national bank. It supports the right to ownership and inheritance.

The party believes the education should be free or available with fees on a case by case basis, and the right to travel without criminal intent internally and internationally.

In Foreign Affairs, the party would pursue closer relations with Marxist, Leninist, and Feminist/Matriarchal nations that are humanitarian and stand for similar values to theirs.

Leader: Livius Glaber
Background: Livius Glaber was brought up in an Intellectual Party communal home in the 1970s, and went to a public school at the age of six, where he worked hard at school, studying politics and sociology obsessively. He graduated with many qualification and entered Uxbridgeley University in Beinai to study Psychology, Politics and Social Science.

After graduation, he worked at the University of Fineberg as a professor of political science, earning him the title of Doctor. In 1990, he returned to Gloria Regis to pursue his dream political career, largely focusing on infrastructure reform following the fall of the Corrupt New Day Party.

Policy: The party, as a whole seeks no interest in a monarch, nor a religious leader. All party members have great support for the President to be head of state as they feel it's more democratic and direct. It is an eco-socialism party which is softly republican. The policies are liberal to people but slightly harsher on big corporations. Generally there is support for entrance into the World Assembly, semi-national banking and carefully controlled investment. It does not support independence from Gloria Regis. General lifestyle views promote vegetarianism, naturism and green living.

The Intellectual Party supports universal emancipation and total gender equality, and has announced support for LGBT rights.

Representative democratic government (which is free and fair) must be established first and foremost for the equal participation of the people of New Edom.

Equality: that all peoples are deserving of the same treatment, and policies to ensure that treatment must be in place.

Federalism: The nation is of utmost importance and must be supported by its citizens. However, national government must be balanced by a three-tier system of provincial and then township control.

Secularism: That religion should be uninfluenced by the machinations of politics, which can only lead to their mutual corruption.

Education: Education should be generally free and should be aimed towards encouragement of developing careers and jobs.

The Monarchy: The Intellectual Party would prefer the Monarch to have a more symbolic role in government, and for religious freedoms to be stronger, for no church or denomination to dominate national spiritual life.

Leader: Nennog na Uthecar
Background: Nennog was a former leader of the White Thorns, a Militia organization that fought against the national government in the 3rd Elwe Uprising. A determined warrior and former leader of the Green Party of Raith Immel, she is a radical green political leader and wants independence for her party.
Policy: With the recent economic and agricultural reforms going on in the Elwe dominated provinces, many former EIO flocked to the banners of either the Free Congress or the National Wisdom Party. The current EIO now includes many former Green Party members.

The EIO stands for independence of Raith Immel and Teman Provinces from New Edom, green economics and Elwe cultural revival. While it strongly stands for these things it is nevertheless devoted to working slowly towards them, with recent elections having enabled government of Raith Immel Province by EIO majority. Currently Princess Fuamnach is Governor of Raith Immel.

Education: A focus on Elwe traditions blended with the Lamonian free school system is advocated.

Economics: The EIO favour a return to localized economics cooperative with international financing systems through micro economics and micro financing.

Violent Outbreaks as Elections Start in New Edom

10th Military Police Regiment in Bara Province

By Annabelle Barca

Deadly clashes have erupted on the streets of New Edomite cities as voters began registering for national elections, with the leader of the National Wisdom Party in Harbourtown besieged in his office.

Ministry of Justice officials say two supporters of the National Wisdom Party have been killed in clashes with local dominant Free Congress party activists, fueling tensions on a day that the Free Congress has declared “day of judgement”.

The National Wisdom Party leader, Dr. Campion, has urged activists to take to the streets in their thousands as part of a campaign to force the Prophet of the End Times Church and spiritual leader of the Free Congress as well as Sarah Carmel, claiming succession to the Touchstone presidency, to accept the new constitution and the results of a vote for majority in the national legislature, the Chamber of Deputies.

A local Militia Commander said the two NWP activists were shot dead during clashes with supporters of the Free Congress. At least 15 people were injured, according to doctors at Harbourtown Mercy Hospital.

Violence also broke out in the capital of Fineberg and in around half a dozen towns as 10th Military Police and Free Congress followers clashed with hundreds of NWP protesters, local television channels said.

Campioin issued the call for mass protests in Bara, Gloria Regis, and Teman Province from inside his office, where he has been confined since Sunday night after Militiacordoned off the area.

The Ethnarch of Harbourtown apparently ordered 14 trucks with City Militia to establish a cordon of the NWP's Harbourtown office in order "to protect the candidate from activist violence and prevent turning the election into a bloody farce," according to the Ethnarch's Press Secretary David Crove.

The trucks, laden with sand and bricks, were wedged outside the gates of Campion's office in the upmarket Circle district and at the beginning of the road leading to the building.

City Militia designated as riot police, flanked by armoured vehicles equipped with water cannon, prevented anyone from entering or leaving the premises.

In spite of the use of Democratic Verification LLC, the neutral Callabanese firm that helped establish the electoral process, Free Congress political wing leader Sarah Carmel has accused the government of "Stepping on the shoulders of the late General Pahath-Moab's dictatorship to re-establish the monarchy. The constitution is unacceptable; they were party to usurping the rightful government. I have returned from what I now call a polite form of exile to re-establish what is right."

Prince Elijah Shalmaneser, the Regent, has been urged by Free Congress leaders to state that the current Council of Ministers are merely a caretaker organization for the purpose of elections. "If the Regent agrees to this, then we will have our vote," promised Carmel. "The constitution itself must be revisited and redone in a fair way before we will even consider this election."

Registration booths in parts of Nass, Sixington and Harbourtown were blocked by activists of the Free Congress or in the case of Sixington by Feminist Collective and Marxist activists. In Sixington and Nass, firebombings left 8 and 25 injured respectively.

In Fineberg, leaders of the Free Congress' local party constituencies have since been detained or charged in connection with the election violence, hampering their efforts to press for new polls.

NWP headquarters was locked down at midnight on Saturday, with Militiavans barricading nearby roads.

NWP officials said at least 500 supporters have been arrested, including two senior party figures, on the day of registration. Scuffles broke out near Campion’s office Sunday when a former Minister of Commerce, Julianna Lindley , was turned away from meeting him. “It’s an insult to democracy,” she said. The Ethnarch's office is currently negotiating with the Ministry of Justice to discuss confirmation of Campion's health and safety.

Some bus and ferry services heading to the capital were also suspended at the weekend in a move likely to reduce the number of protesters trying to reach Fineberg. Lieutenant-General Felicity Romain, commanding the IX Army Corps, has been ordered to establish roadblocks on roads leading between Harbourtown, Fineberg and Glasstower, though Glasstower has had no violence yet and has had only a number of demonstrations; heated exchanges have been mediated thus far by trained Militia staff organized by the Commandant, Elder Brother Ephraim.

The Prophet Samuel Under, who has consistently rejected calls for fresh elections, is to deliver a televised address to the nation on Monday night.

Secularism: That religion should be uninfluenced by the machinations of politics, which can only lead to their mutual corruption.

How does the Intellectual Party feel about politics being corrupted by religion? Olweans view that as a much greater danger.

Riots Continue to Threaten Elections

by Annabelle Barca
Disrupted attempts at voter registration risks ruin for national elections, the country’s National Elections Commitee Deputy Director, Dr. Amon Ashren, said in an official statement.

Elections Officers were forced to abandon work in Harbourtown, Nass, Hillel, Westmark and Lookinghaven due to disorder from ETC activists protesting the Royal Government's refusal to recognize the legitimacy of the Theocratic Republic's succession.

Disorder grew into riots as radicals sought to storm the barricades around campaign offices of the National Wisdom Party and Intellectual Party in these cities, with smoke candles, stun grenades and other charges were hurled at the police. Dispersing elections and polling officials have rendered the election dubious in this case.

Elsewhere, in Sixington and Iphegenia in Gloria Regis, while outright riots have not taken place demonstrations and tensions have made things difficult for registration to take place, as predominantly Leck, Socialist and ETC neighborhoods were blocked off or demonstrated against by Marxist and Feminist Collective Party activists. Leck political leaders have accused the dominant parties of preventing their voters from holding similar demonstrations and corrupting the voting process.

“This situation jeopardises the election commission’s ensuring and protecting suffrage for Edomite citizens," said Dr. Amon Ashren.

“This poses major risks for preparing and holding under the country’s constitution, domestic laws and universally recognised international standards of free and fair elections,” he added.

However the Regent, Prince Elijah Shalmaneser, has said, "We have asked that Free Congress and Feminist Collective leaders step forward and promise to control activism, protest and rioting. If they cannot do it, we will offer the help of military units to help control these violations of the law. However if that is unacceptable I recommend the use of CPO observers and peacekeepers. If there is no upholding of the truce, and it is in violation and there is no mission of peacekeepers in time to protect our citizens, we will take all measures necessary."

In accordance with our standing alliance with New Edom, Olwe offers to send in peacekeeping forces if necessary. Orcs... protesters will be too freaked out by those to continue their activism.

Feminists and Intellectuals Neck and Neck

by Annabelle Barca

SIXINGTON, Gloria Regis-- Citizen polls in Gloria Regis, Southern Bara Province and Sterry show that Feminist Collective Party and Intellectual Party popularity are neck and neck just behind the National Wisdom Party by a few points, according to professional pollsters from Democratic Verification LLC.

What is surprising to some is the popularity of both these non-Christian parties on parts of the mainland, indicating the possibility that they, and not the Free Congress, could represent the voice of the opposition when voters are able to go to the polls safely.

"I think it makes sense," said Dr. Aemlianus, the Feminist Collective Party's provincial Minister of Commerce. "The voice of marginalized people like the LGBT community are only really represented by our party, as well as free thinking Christians and liberals of all stripes."

Intellectual Party leader Livius Glaber spoke via the telephone in his besieged home in Sixington. "I'm delighted to see the extent for our support. The NWP are not the only party offering good economic value, indeed we offer alternatives that they do not to a free market invitation to every corporation out there, and we offer greater civil liberties without focusing almost entirely on one gender unlike the FCP. I'm very proud of how fast our party has expanded beyond Gloria Regis to the rest of the country--and hopefully through fair and honourable trade and tourism--the world!"

In spite of a besieged party leader (as Dr. Campion of the NWP remains besieged in Harbourtown too), threats and violence towards party adherents and potential voters, the NWP remains strong in the most populated provinces, Bara and Etruria Major as well as seizing hearts and minds of former Free Congress followers in Haran Province.

"It will all be moot if we can't get voters to the polls in two weeks," said a voter registration officer in Nass, Teman province who preferred to remain anonymous.

The activist organization "Democracy Now" which is a cross denominational, cross party NGO in New Edom, has begun demonstrating in various troubled cities including Nass, Harbourtown and Sixington appealing to other party activists to stop the violence. "Talk Don't Terrorize" has been one of their slogans. Church leaders from the Apostolic and Haranese Christian churches as well as the Baptist Convention and Presbyterian Synod have made a general appeal to the population to embrace a peaceful means of disagreement. However distrust for the very process of democracy itself, let along religious, tribal and regional differences, remains strong so far.

To: The Foreign Ministry (or appropriate government agency) of the Magocratic Empire of Olwe
From: Elizabeth Corbulo, Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs
Subject: Aid

(To appropriate official)

On behalf of my government, I thank you for the offer of peacekeepers. The Allied States of New Edom's current policy is to only accept international peacekeeping from organizations that are neutral with a general oversight over their operations. A Cornellian Peacekeeping Organization operation is being considered in our own region, but we are grateful for the offer of assistance.

sincerely,
Elizabeth Corbulo

Intellectual Party Outstrips Feminist Collective in Polls

by Annabelle Barca

SIXINGTON, Gloria Regis-- A national voter interest poll conducted both on and offline throughout the country by the NGO "Democracy Now" partnered with Democratic Verification LLC confirms that the Intellectual Party of Gloria Regis is the #2 political party in the nation as of this morning.

"We're surprised, you could knock us over with a feather," said Livius Glaber from his office in Sixington. "But it goes to show that it is the values and service you offer that gets people to have faith in you."

Party leaders have been campaigning steadily online and offline, using a number of websites, blogs, vlogs and uploaded free to view videos to get their message across in imitation of the National Wisdom Party.

"We have heard that there is a solid offer for international observers and CPO peacekeepers, and we are glad and relieved to hear it," said another spokesperson for the Intellectual Party.

"One thing that we offer uniquely is that we are a genuinely egalitarian meritocratic party," said Glaber. "I think that none of the other parties really offer that. It's showing. We're looking forward to this election and intend to do our best."

FREEDOM'S VOICE

Militia Peace Tactics Wins Bloodless Victory

by Roxana Jasper

SIXINGTON, Gloria Regis-- Sixington Militia Commander Julianna Aspen is "The nation's peaceful warrior" according to Justice Minister Theodora Ferrovius.

On the mainland, Nass, Teman Province and Harbourtown Bara Province have had some of the bloodiest electoral violence in New Edom's history according to recent reports. However Sixington Gloria Regis has had a peaceful voter registration by comparison with increasingly less intimidation of potential voters and encouragement towards peaceful debate, thanks largely to the influence of leaders of the Sixington Feminist Collective Militia acting as the police force.

A Militia officer who has not signed a release of her name nevertheless gave some words which the Justice Minister called "stirring" when hearing a recording made by a local journalist.

we're going to let them vote. Because even though they're assholes, we're not like them. We'll never be like them. We're not going to turn into jackbooted fascist thugs and plunge a knife into democracy just because we don't like their opinions. If they break the law, or step one toe out of line, then we'll deal with them. But right now we'll treat them with the civility that they would never show us, because we're better than they are. And that's all there is to it."

"What remains now is the peace with New Edom itself," said Livia Barberina to press recently. "We are showing every day that we will be a force for peaceful unity, even if that unity involves disagreement in our new country. We need to make a peace with the old country to move towards our future, and all steps are being taken towards that. This election is a part of that."

Activists Arrested in Nass

by Annabelle Barca
NASS, Teman Province, New Edom-- At an outdoor benefit concert in Covenant Park, in Nass, nearly 40 activists were arrested according to local news sources. At least 14 were members of the grassroots NGO "Democracy Now" while others are considered according to the Provincial Justice Ministry "suspected foreign agents."

"There are a lot of foreign agents we are dealing with," said Michal Davis, one of the aides to the Ethnarch of Nass. "The Provincial Justice Ministry is working with our city Militia organizations to help deal with it."

When asked by journalists why the arrests were done in public, City Militia officials said that there was what they believed to be reliable intelligence that groups consolidating 'insurgency training' against the city government were at the benefit, and that they had a list of names.

The National Elections Committee has protested the action and insisted that both its members and Democracy Now are native neutrals who are merely trying to support the right to vote for all citizens.

"Here's the truth," said Judah Valin, an Intellectual Party candidate in Nass. "When I heard about this, i was disgusted. The sour grapes of the Free Congress and ETC would be beyond belief if it were not their modus operandi. Basically they're just upset because they're trailing behind everyone but the EIO in the opinion polls. And guess what? Democratic Verification only has one iron in this fire, and that's proving that their system works--so they're actually a reliable polling body. Too bad, fanatics, you're losing anyway!"

Dr. Marius Campion, still besieged in Harbourtown, was not available for comment.

The Pentapolis is a prosperous state, if a somewhat bucolic one, whose inhabitants are among the most cultured and well-read people in the world: it comes as no surprise then, that most of the Pentapolitans who took part in our poll about the Edomite elections chose the Intellectual Party of Gloria Regis as the party they'd be more likely to vote if they were citizens of New Edom. Duchess Announces Aid Package for Gloria Regis

STRANA MECHTY - Duchess Vianu announced earlier today the Confederation of Jedoria would begin supplying monetary assistance to the independent nation of Gloria Regis. According to the Duchess, the aid package would entail funds intended for usage in infrastructure development and stability efforts.

The aid package, labeled as "Official Developmental Funds for Gloria Regis", is estimated to be worth approximately 75 million Jedorian Credits, comes with the conditions that it must be used on "national development purposes", namely supporting existing transportation and welfare services, education centers and medical facilities. An additional 5 million credits is included to be used in the "facilitation of electoral measures", aiming to ensure Gloria Regis, like mainland New Edom, may fully adhere to democratic principles.

The Aid Package will officially be Jedoria's single largest contribution of foreign aid thus far in 2015, and signifies the Confederation's dedication to the Independence of Glora Regis.

To: The Leadership of the National Wisdom Party of New Edom
From: Foreign Minister Stephanie Martineau of Gavinium Magnus

Sirs,

It is my pleasure to endorse the National Wisdom Party of New Edom on behalf of His Majesty's Government as the voice of sanity and reason in New Edom. Thank you for working to keep New Edom from sliding into a theocratic abyss that would greatly harm Gavinian-Edomite relations and trade.

Sincerely,
Stephanie Martineau, Minister of Foreign Affairs

Legion Hypermarket Deal Secured for Edomite Goods

Image

By Annabelle Barca
FINEBERG, New Edom-- Legion Hypermarkets is one of the fastest growing food stores in the world, and the Finance Minister, Count Thomas Lalery, has secured a first level purchase agreement with them.

"By eliminating the usual middlemen save for quality assurance and health controls, we're going to be helping Edomite farmers make a lot more money. Agricultural reform remains one of our top concerns," the Finance Minister said at a press conference in Fineberg yesterday afternoon.

Since Legion Hypermarkets' patrons tend to be upper scale purchasers of grocery goods, both high quality and organic foods are particularly sought after. The deal concerns purchases of fruits such as mangoes and lemons, ocean products like shrimp and salmon, capybara meat in canned or frozen packaging, and jasmine rice which is an increasingly grown cash crop on the western coast of Bara Province.

This move was strongly backed by the increasingly popular National Wisdom and Intellectual Parties, which have promised to encourage more economic growth although each party has a different strategy for this. Both party leaders have vowed to work closely with the executive branch of the government in this regard.

"We believe we are being threatened by politically encouraged violence because we are threatening--we're offering something some of our rivals cannot, and that is not merely stability but growth and hope for the future--not just jobs in the short term but careers and futures in agricultural and industrial development," said Dr. Marius Campion in a video interview from his still beseiged office in Harbourtown. We intend to soldier on."

Jedorian Recognition More than Words

by Roxana Jasper

SIXINGTON, Gloria Regis-- The Jedorian Government has in the words of more than one citizen, put more than words into their support of Gloria Regian independence.

The 75 million Jedorian credit aid package is part of an agreed assistance program between the Jedorian government and the government of Gloria Regis, for the purpose of improving transportation infrastructure, education, medicine and media systems in the province, as well as five million specifically aimed at democratic reform.

"We are very grateful," Livia Barberina, Premier of Gloria Regis, said to journalists. "This will be greatly to the benefit of all Gloria Regians between us and one of the most altruistic and honest democracies in our Region. We are proud to call Jedorians friends."

The Jedorian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the consulate in Sixington have been very much involved with discussion and mediation of Gloria Regian independence and encouragement of development of democratic systems in Gloria Regis.

Breaking news from the elusive and mysterious Holy Queendom

IS DIVINE QUEEN LYTA A FEMINIST?

IN GENERAL it is considered unusual for the Holy Queendom to have an opinion on affairs of international importance, much less the internal politics of another nation.

It is particularly unusual for the Divine Queen herself to have a view of such things, given the general belief that her primary concern should be 'Her Favoured People' - the Brellachi themselves - and not the party politics of foreigners.

However, the question was asked by a member of the public in today's session of Her People's Court; "who does [Queen Lyta] support in the New Edomite elections?"

Fellis Jessina, Most Devout Advisor of Her Court, responded surprisingly: "[the Queen and I] have discussed this briefly; [she] tends to find the Feminist Collective Party to be most favourable to her views, aside from [the economics]."

The term 'feminist' carries little weight in the Holy Queendom, a country in which a goddess - rather than a god - is worshipped, no king has ever reigned, and family lineages are traced matrilineally rather than paternally. There isn't really an equivalent word for it in Brellachi, in fact.

It is perhaps for that precise reason, however, that the Brellachi tend not to understand the reason for chauvinism either, and support its eradication from those societies in which it is experienced.

Indeed, Queen Lyta - like most of her predecessors - takes a very liberal view of such things as gender equality and LGBT rights (which, again, has never been a significant issue in Brellach), and takes a very dim view of things such as people trafficking and discrimination.

With this in mind, it is perhaps unsurprising that the young ruler has come out in favour of the New Edomite FCP, in spite of her disapproval of 'the economics'.

Whether this will result in material support for the foreign party, or even an official statement from the Divine Queen as a show of moral support, is currently unknown.

I suppose New Edom is as 'close' to Brellach as anybody, given how infrequently they really talk to other nations, so if they were going to have an opinion on the politics of another nation it may as well be them.

Peacekeeping Begins in New Edom

by Annabelle Barca
PEACEKEEPERS from the Cornellian Peacekeeping Organization have begun to arrive in New Edom today. Predominantly from the nations of the Allamunnic States, Adiron, Novitera, Spartianus, and Vyrsar, the mission is intended to help secure peace between militant factions in order to establish free and safe elections in the more troubled areas of the country.

Gloria Regis, Bara and Teman Provinces are the areas of contention between the Free Congress, the Monarchy (represented by the National Wisdom Party) and the Feminist Collective Party. While armed confrontation has been rather low in Gloria Regis, military confrontations broke out this weekend betwen Monarchist forces of the IX Army Corps and Task Force Boa, a naval strike force, supported by National Air Force units, and two brigades and naval fighters of the Theocratic Republic. The result was apparently a stalemate along the southern penninsular coast from the city of Harbourtown but apparently a Monarchist victory in the valley surrounding the town of Salcah in western Bara Province.

Peacekeepers will apparently establish safe voting zones in Gloria Regis, Bara and Teman Provinces as well as a demilitarized zone in Western Bara.A cease fire was agreed by the Regent, Prince Elijah Shalmaneser, and Sarah Carmel claiming the Presidency of the Theocratic Republic, as well as between both parties and the Feminist Collective Party in Gloria Regis.

Free Trade and Mutual Cooperation Agreement Signed Between Gloria Regis, Jedoria

STRANA MECHTY - Duchess Luminita Vianu today announced that an agreement between the Government of Gloria Regis and the Confederation regarding free trade and mutual cooperation between the two states.

The Agreement, signed into Law by Vianu just hours ago, has officially opened up the Jedorian market to the island nation, removing tariffs and other barriers to trade between the two. In addition, the Confederation has confirmed it's intents to promote a greater connection with Gloria Regis, and plans are reportedly underway to assist Gloria Regis in further development as in independent state, both in domestic and foriegn affairs. Efforts are underway to improve Gloria Regis's standings in the free world, as well as provide the newly founded friend with the means to establish formal relationships with the rest of the world.

The action represents Jedorian commitment to Gloria Regis has risen to an even higher level than previously though, evidently tying the Vianu administration greatly to the island nation. The act however drew a great deal of criticism from members of the High Council, who have increasingly had little say in Jedorian Foreign Policy. Several opposition members in the Council voiced their strong dissaproval against the Duchess's continued expansion of Jedorian responsibility. Rumors are circulating that several parties, including the United Peace Party have begun drafting resolutions to limit the Duchess's control of foreign policy endeavors.

In other news, CPO peacekeepers arrived in New Edom to begin peacekeeping operations.
