Obtundation is the rendering of the convicted into a nonresponsive state by means of a Captive Bolt Pistol, where in the pistol is placed against the forehead of the convicted and upon pulling of the trigger a rod or "bolt" is driven from barrel of the weapon. The bolt makes contact with the skull with enough force as to liquefy a portion of the frontal lobe, while not damaging the brain stem. The convicted is rendered into a vegetative state, but is still very much alive. They are then transported to the nearest medical facility for summery harvest, rending and incineration.

This form of execution has kept crime low and the waiting list for organ transplants practically nonexistent.
